Reliable cantonese serving largish portions, a staple for years opposite the station, has now gone and closed down, it was pretty empty last time I went, but this is still a sad loss. Best wishes to the long serving chap at the counter and the ladies serving.

I used to live in the Falcon's Estate near Clapham Junction railway station. Good Morning Vietnam was my favorite local oriental restaurant. However, bear in mind that despite its name Good Morning Vietnam is a Chinese not Vietnamese restaurant. I always patronize Good Morning Vietnam during my yearly visit to London. My favorite meal is Salt and Pepper Tofu start and Black Bean Tofu main.

We were looking for a tasty dinner before attending a tourist trip in central London. My husband and I had a quick dinner here in Saturday night. We were disappointed to realise that this is NOT a Vietnamese restaurant but in fact Chinese. Notwithstanding this we were looking forward to our dishes: roast pork hofun and vegetables noodle soup. Portions were large and the food tasted fresh but the stir-fry was too oily and the soup lacked flavour. Service was friendly and efficient and prices low.

We ate here before a visit to a concert recently and was surprised by the huge quantities of food (rice) we got. The food was nice enough although I asked for a green thai curry and it was more akin to a Chinese curry, but still tasted good but not as spicy as I was told it was going to be.The waitress is very keen, sometimes too keen, but still thats better than being ignored in my opinion. We had quarter of crispy aromatic duck to start it was enormous and cooked to perfection. Main course was Singapore fried noodles, egg fried rice, beef in black bean sauce and char siu. It was beautifully cooked but in the English style we over ordered. Beware the dishes are ENORMOUS. Washed it down with a couple bottles of Tsing Tao. £51 plus tip for the lot.

The boss and I had to attend a meeting in London that required us to travel the previous day. We arrived at Clapham Junction at about 9pm, after the standard 4 hour nightmare journey on the railways that delivered us to our destination over an hour late. We had not eaten since breakfast and could by then have attacked a scabby dog. We left Clapham Junction station undecided what to do and were hit by the glorious smell of garlic, chilli and ginger wafting from the door of this restaurant in the balmy evening air. A quick look inside confirmed that the place was full of locals - always a good sign. Families; teenagers on a budget; workmen after a shift - exactly what we were looking for and there was one table empty. The service was brisk and friendly and two cold beers vanished very quickly indeed. We ordered Deep Fried Crispy Shredded Beef, Sweet and Sour King Prawns and Special Fried Rice - oh, and another two beers. The food arrived freshly cooked, hot, seasoned to perfection with portions that we could not finish. Bill for two including tip was £28.It was just what we needed. Nothing fancy. Just plain good neighbourhood cooking. Long may this restaurant prosper. Next time we are in Clapham we will visit again.

Popped over on NYE with a couple of mates for a quick bite (at around 10.30pm ). We were informed that the shop was going to be shut at 11pm and were asked to be mindful of that. They should have just asked us to find some other place to eat. We were asked to pay the bill before food was served. Food was prepared in 2 minutes. I'd ordered a pho which didn't taste very good at all (the soup tasted a bit like hot water). They'd shut the toilets before we were over and done with and its not like prices were reasonable - everything is extortionately priced or at least not commensurate with the quality of the food and the service. I was asked to down my drink and to get lost. They were some positives but altogether a bad experience. By all means do give the place a try but whatever you do do not get there anytime after 10pm.

It's central as millions use Clapham Junction railway across the road. I consider it a Chinese resto with some Vietnamese trimmings and now it's still good food for the money you pay. Huge servings of rice or noodles will keep most happy. Good service from waitresses. I got a large plate of prawn noodles with nice crunchy prawns, so large my wife could not finish the plate. I dunno about the DIm Sum that's been added recently, it must still be good value for you. Ten pounds or less for dinner and tea. Good Morning Vietnam is a no-frills establishment opposite Clapham Junction Station, serving excellent Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. The food is superb - I had the Seafood Tom Yum Noodles and it was served in a large portion, spicy and well-seasoned. It cost around £7 which I feel was good value for the amount of food served. I'm no expert on Thai cuisine but it seemed very authentic and the restaurant also seemed to attract patrons who were Vietnamese/Thai (i.e. I noticed they spoke to the waiting staff in their native tongue). That to me is generally a good sign that the food is authentic. Atmosphere-wise the restaurant is a simple cafe-style establishment, similar in style to a greasy spoon cafe. The decor is essentially laminated photos of all their dishes on the walls, with the number allocated to it, for ease of ordering. The service wasn't amazing but there was nothing to complain about either - they were very busy at lunchtime and the waitresses were doing a great job in keeping everything going. Recommended - I would definitely return for another meal.
