Just found this place. Great wee restaurant in Bellshill. Tried the crispy chicken with honey and chilli and special curry. Food was fantastic and service was awesome. Really friendly. Nice wine and coffee too.

I haven't been to the Good date in a long time but decided on this for dinner last night. We were not disappointed. There was a lighter menu on offer which was fantastic value. I beleive this is on Sunday - Thursday. The food was fabulous and the service was good. Will defintely be going back again soon.

Got Chicken fried rice and a can of coke for takeaway £8.90 Food was disgusting and threw it in the bin. Avoid this place. Id of went to Lee Wongs but they were shut.

bought chicken breast curry & peking beef. charged 18.10. quite expensive I thought but found out they charge for rice even though I asked for prawn crackers instead. beef was ok, portion size was awful, very watery & tasteless sauce. crackers were soggy. chicken curry was poor, again watery oily sauce, chicken was stringy & not good. should have returned it all but shop closed. not be returning.

Well this place has definitely went down hill. I had the salt and chilli chicken , chicken okay but veg cold . Fried rice was lovely . My partner had salt and chilli wings which had no taste and then sweet and sour chicken which was okay in his words. Didn’t appreciate The lady serving my dinner with a yellow rubber glove on aa a put off right away. The staff were nice and friendly.Would have recommended this place years ago but NOT now .

Went to good date for years will be the last. place was cold waited ages between courses and when we got our soup my husband had pieces of metal in it we had 2 children with us they had the soup could have been their soup it was in.the seats and tables were so close together we couldn't get out to go to the toilet my granddaughter had to crawl under the table the staff are nice not there fault

I decided to give this place a try after reading other reviews. I phoned up ahead and went to collect. Food containers were filled , both of our meals were tasty. Looks like we've found ourselves a new chinese restaurant . I will definitely return.

Collected a takeaway tonight. So disappointed. Curry sauce was like water and the chicken Foo young was over dry. Not be using Good Date again. Definitely gone downhill.

Excellent service with friendly staff. Food is very tasty. Just love a fillet steak with their black pepper sauce. Also salt and chilli ribs are to die for so are the wafer wrapped prawns.

Went here last night for a meal and boy was u surprised. From the outside it looked a bit dated and inside was very basic. Well I’m so glad I continued because I had the best Chinese meal I’ve had in a long time! There were four of us and we each ordered something different. Each dish was delicious I would highly recommend you give this a try 😃

Been going to good date for 34 years for Xmas dinner must be the best steak in this area and a hot plate so it's piping hot and the 3 course meal is good value for money the service is also good wouldn't miss going there at Xmas

The "waitress" who works during the day is the worst I have ever seen. We arrived at half 1 and the very 1st thing she said was "are yous gonnae be done for 2?". We got our meals but before we took a single bite she asked if we wanted a desert. When we said no she immediately put the bill on the table. She then went outside the front door to smoke and came back in absolutely stinking of smoke. The food here is always nice but the service at lunch time is a disgrace!

The Good Date is absolutely great value the food is excellent and the staff helpful considerate and very friendly.... I recommend it and I drive 26 miles just to eat in it.....

Been visiting this restaurant for over 30 years and the same family have owned it during that time. I have found over the years that whether in Glasgow, London, Manchester etc if you take the time to look, or speak to the right people, you can find restaurants which are not all glitz & glam but make up for it in the food they serve. Good Date is one such restaurant. We regularly go for lunch and there is a fantastic lunch menu served until 2pm on weekdays and 4pm on Saturdays. Starters are £1.30, main courses £3.70 and sweets 90p. On our latest visit we both started with chicken noodle soup which was flavoursome and full of noodles and chicken with spring onion. I had chicken and fried rice for my main course, while my wife plumped for the vegetable chop suey with fried rice. My dish had loads of chicken with the some small pieces of ham and spring onion in some of the best chinese fried rice I have tasted. My wife lost count of the variety of vegetables in her chop suey which was cooked to perfection. I finished with fruit cocktail with cream which most Chinese restaurants did many years ago and which you would rarely see now. Total cost including 2 cans of Diet Coke £13.70. Most takeaways would charge more!! Good Date also have a fixed price evening menu which is also good value. Whether having lunch or an evening meal, I would recommend the steaks served on a sizzling platter with their home made gravy sauce. The sauce has never changed over the years and is one of my all time favourites. You only have to pay a supplement of a couple of pounds on the lunch menu. I would recommend the Good Date for great food and friendly efficient service at a very reasonable price.

Good food to eat in or take away. Home delivery is always a good option. Can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal from this place in almost 40 years of eating here.

Had many carryout but sat in for dinner for the first time in over 25yrs, menu and prices were still the same they were even still serving the same cocktails, black Russian, blue lagoon and tequila sunrise, service was friendly and spot on food was really tasty, had a great we night remembering the good old days

Has been years, probably decades since we were last here. Decided to pop in tonight.

The main course was lovely but the dessert was very disappointing. I asked for apple pie and cream and when it came it was 2 of the small pies like the Mr Kipling pies but not as good a cheaper version. I could have bought a box of 6 for the price of the dessert. The staff were very pleasant

I Ordered a steak from here, full steak was absolutely frozen, chips were also frozen. Complained to be told the only thing they can do is reheat it in the microwave ?! Disgusting! Poor food and service would definitely avoid!

Recommended by the staff at the Premier Inn. Found a parking spot right in front which was good as raining. It looked a little small from the outside and it is not a big restaurant. Was not busy so got seated straight away. Its not a high end place so would not recommend for that special night out but for two lads it was ok by us.

Chinese restaurant that has been on the main street for years. Unfortunately it has not renovated or updated either the menu or the surroundings. The meals are stodgy and unappetising.

La última vez que estuvimos allí hace 10 años (siempre gran mesa Janice McHugh) decidió ir con nuestro hijo de 10 años esta noche. La decoración cambió (muy agradable) la comida aún absolutamente increíble. Pollo satay para empezar porque tan bueno. Luego como siempre carne porque es tan increíble todo salsas fantástica pero Diane es el mejor. Personal muy amable y María sigue ahí (no han cambiado) no puedo esperar hasta la próxima vez ❤

Been a few times and that says it all, good staff and good food will be going back again With my grandson 18 moth's had a bit of all the meals and no one bothered.

Stopped off for a take away curry. Staff were very pleasant, clean surroundings. I had chicken curry, egg fried rice, pancake rolls and my partner had special fried rice with curry sauce and prawn crackers. Very good curry, I will certainly go back.

Been coming here for years, curries are brill and they do them for £3.50 at lunchtime.The staff are great and having been coming here for years one thing I will say is they dinnae take any nonsense lol, so the one or two folk on here moaning that the staff were rude, well they were probably rude customers themselves lol!Oh the portions are huge too, could feed an army!

What a disgrace this place is. Phoned a delivery waited 2 hours and when the delivery driver got to my door after me phoning them twice and the woman on phone saying the delivery driver had been at my door which he hadn't been, the full meal was freezing. I phoned to complain and the cheek I got was a disgrace and disgusting also from the delivery driver too. Will never be back they need a good lesson in customer service.

I have not been to Good Date in many years as I believed that they has went down hill with there food, but I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that it was taken over my a new manager and kitchen staff and I decided to go back there from my usual and I was extremely pleased with how it was the food was exceptionally better than it was a few months ago, I think they have really improved massively and this will now become my new regular Chinese restaurant and take away, although the seating area in the restaurant for take aways does need improving as it looks a little dated. Overall a very food improvement from before!

The Good Date has been in Bellshill for many years and is still a very good place to enjoy a Chinese or European meal. The steaks are always a good choice, a really filling meal. Have had many Chinese meals and they never fail to please. Hope to return soon.

We have visited here a few times now for lunch and the service is quick but they do try hurry you out and the place is always frozen cold so u need to eat ur meal with ur jacket on But it is cheap and does taste no bad as well

I've been here a couple of times now for both lunch and dinner. The lunch time menu is a bit smaller but you get great deals like a soup for £1.30 and a chicken curry and fried rice for £3.50. Only personal thing is this place seems to be popular with families during lunch which meant we had a crying toddler on the table behind us and screaming kids on the table in front of us! Wasn't fussed as we were just stopping in for a quick bite but if it's date night or a romantic meal you're after go at night!Their curries are a specialty and undoubtedly the best in Bellshill. The spare ribs are fantastic as well and the girls serving are always lovely and pleasant. Highly recommended.

Sunday to Thursday they do specials like £3.60 for Chicken Curry and chips/fried rice and its generous portions of home made sauce too and chips are lovely, not dry like most take outs these days.This is a proper old fashioned establishment stuck in the 80's I like that though compared to a soulless modern one that charges high amounts for sub par food, I always struggle to finish the portions which I only do for good quality as it leaves you satisfied.

Having tried a lot of chinese in Lanarkshire, I can honestly say that Good Date is the best with lovely steak and chicken curry. The curry sauce was amazing and the food tasted fresh. Delivery was quick for a Friday evening. Highly recommended!!!

There steak is the best about on a hot sizzler and there black peper sauce is the best iv tasted also there royal sauce is lovely if going here dont miss there steak and the diffrent sauces they serve with them beats anywhere else been going here for about 25 yrs always have the steak

This place has been going for years and unfortunately it shows with the decor the food is mostly good and reasonably priced but the biggest downfall is the staff. As soon as you have been served they hover about you and if you have not got your wits about you they will lift your dish if your dare put your cuterly down its as if they want you in and out the door as quickly as possible. I can remember years ago that you would have to book in advance and maybe this is where they picked up the bad habits. Nowadays you can walk in no problem and get a table but still with the staff hovering over you. Really says it all when you can walk in off the street and get a table considering it's the only Chinese restaurant in town.

One of the biggest differences between the Good Date and a lot of other Chinese restaurants (especially the buffet places which have popped up all over the place) is the preparation that goes into their meals. In particular you can tell the sauce used for the curry and the ribs and Char Siu (which can take days to make from marinating through to slow roasting) are all home made and are not store bought or ready marinated and you can really taste the difference.TLDR - The food is yummy and the ribs, Chinese roast pork and curries are fantastic specialties!

Recently moved to bellshill and after asking around, was recommended the good date. It's apparently been around for a long time (to be honest you can tell a wee bit from the decor) and I can see why. I had the spare ribs and chicken curry and my mum had the chicken wings and steak.The portions were absolutely massive and the curry was great. Mums steak came out on a big sizzling platter and was cooked perfectly.Didn't manage to have any room for dessert but will make a point of trying the fritters next time.

Don't ever eat here! Scabby little shop with plastic covering the crappy chairs, usually these horrible looking we places serve the best food, this was awful. I got wings that looked like battered potatoes and they were solid, through brute strength i managed to break through the batter and what was inside was black. Then the very very small mains came out, burnt rice etc.. no thanks i will never return here again, you should be ashamed serving that tripe!

Came here with hubby on sunday night. Weve been before during the day for lunch but not as much available on the lunch menu. I had the chicken satay and hubby had a steak. Both were excellent and the staff were very friendly. Even though theyve been there for years they dont seem to advertise much (their FB page is a bit nonexistent) so I suppose its a bit of a hidden gem if youre not a local.The decor is a bit old fashioned by the corner booth as comfy as always.

Headed out to Strathclyde park for carvery it was full and queue was at least 15 mins long..so headed over to Bellshill to get a quick meal don't know area that we'll so it was here or the alhambra First impressions clean but dated service good friendly staff but very cold noticed a few folk with body warmers I can't eat with a jacket on so placed it over my knees. Hubby had soup and sweet n sour chicken in rice n chips. His meal fine I had prawn cocktail which was nice but main I hadn't tried before chicken breast n peking in ginger sauce. Came out as 2 chicken escalopes. With a ginger sauce in a bowl was something similar to a micro meal haven't tried this before but hoped it was just a bit more exciting. Didn't have a dessert or stay on for a coffee as it was far to cold to sit about plus I noticed a chip plate and that's my pet hate Overall would I go again yes if I was stuck in Bellshill and had warm clothing on but would I recommend it. Been coming here for over 10 years now, lots of other places have come and gone in Bellshill and it's obvious why the Good Date is still here. The curries are briliant and its worth sitting in to have the steaks.The also do a lunch menu where you can get a steak and chips for a fiver!

Love Chinese food, a bit fed up with all the buffet places. It makes a nice change to be able to come in and have nice traditional Chinese food brought out to you fresh made.I had the fillet beef in mandarin sauce, it came out on a sizzling plate with huge chunks of tender beef. Hubbie had a special curry and there was enough to feed a small army. The kids shared a portion of lemon chicken. Plates went back completely empty.Definitely worth checking out.

Went here for Christmas day lunch - the place was packed out but still got served fairly promptly. The . outside shop front could do with a bit of an overhaul The decor inside is a bit dated but looks absolutely fine and traditional. The food was excellent and a good reminder as to why I go to these traditional restaurants as opposed to one of these buffet places that you now find everywhere.I had a steak which came out on a sizzling platter and it was one of the most tender steaks I have ever enjoyed. My wife had a more traditional Szechuan chicken with fried rice. It was a lovely sized portion, the chicken was tender and the rice was nice and fluffy.The only reason I'm not giving five stars is the first impressions from the outside was a little disheartening although everything was fine once we stepped through the door and the food more than made up for it!

Used to come here all the time with my family. Stopped going for a while due to moving out for uni. Read all the negative reviews - I believe from early 2014 through to a couple of months ago they had different staff in due to the owners being away on holiday and my mum and dad did confirm the quality dropped during this time.Went back a couple of times when I came back for Christmas and was absolutely delighted. I can't comment on earlier on in the year but in the several times I was there in December, the food was just as fab as I always remembered it. Giant steaks and large portions of chicken curry. There aren't too many places to go out to eat in Bellshill and I'm glad that after all those years the Good Date is still here and back on form! x

Christmas dinner £70. Was poor did not make u fell as if you where there to enjoy the day out Turkey was poor. Stake was poor £70 again a say. Stay at home and make your own for less

We have been coming to the Good Date restaurant for years now and have got to know the staff very well. When going out for Chinese food these days usually means one of the buffet places where the food has been lying out for ages, it's actually really nice to be able to sit down and have fresh cooked traditional food brought to you!I would recommend the steaks or the fillet beef in mandarin sauce both which come out on a sizzling platter the portions are huge!The decor isn't trendy but is very traditional and cosy. Worth making a trip to Bellshill for!
