Another fantastic Sunday lunch at The Goldsmiths Arms. 7 of us including 3 kids and everyone enjoyed the food. It really is the best Sunday Roast. I had beef, my other half had pork, both delicious. The staff are really attentive and a good choice of beers and wine. We are forward to our next visit

First time visit here as son has just moved to the area. Homely pub atmosphere although quite a strong smell of bleach when we walked in. Essentially a no-frills pub, not an upmarket gastropub and the prices reflect that. My son and partner enjoyed 2 good pints of Guinness and our food arrived in good time on a Sunday Lunchtime. My half roast chicken was well cooked with crispy skin with very generous trimmings, a very full plate. Enormous Yorkshire pudding but that unfortunately was cold, but everything else was hot and flavoursome. My partner thought her vegan roast was very good and she is picky! No complaints from anyone about their choices which also included burgers and an aubergine bake and we were all very full. If you like good solid traditional pub food in a Victorian vibe pub with no pretension, then this is the place for you!

I really like this pub. They always have a good range of beers available (including cask) , as well as nice wines and spirits. The menu isn’t overly extensive but just what you want from a pub. Warm confirming food on a November night. The food was enjoyable and the service was excellent.

Lovely traditional pub, cosy interior and very friendly staff. New to the area and tried the vegan roast dinner (with a yorkie added), was delicious. Will definitely return.

Lovely pub with a great selection of drinks, including non alcoholic options. Only let down was the barman (think I heard someone call him Jordan). Every time I went to order a drink he kept pushing the sausage rolls on me trying to get me to buy one. Guy needs to learn to take no for an answer, don’t know if he’s on commission or what but his whole manner was very off putting, made me feel very uncomfortable. Otherwise a great little boozer.

Sunday lunch with my wife today at the wonderful goldsmith’s arms, fantastic food as usual, both went for the pork belly, wow ! Also the service was second to none with a special mention for Gia (hope I’ve spelled it correctly) went out of her way to do my daughter a take away dinner, thank you for that. Thanks also to Noah for keeping me topped up with double brandy’s!

Lovely, huge Sunday roast with a great atmosphere. It felt as though they were short staffed though.

In London with 95 yr old mother in law on a mini bucket list visit. 1 visit her grandsons new family home 2, visit crystal palace park - long since departed husband had won an architectural competition in the 90s for a new crystal palace and she wanted to see what was remaining of the original 3, see granddaughters husband Tom preform at the Royal Opera House. Stopping overnight at the Crystal palace Travelodge and attended the Goldsmith Arms for tea. Clearly popular pub with several family groups already there. Attentive and patient staff who created a bespoke meal for the mother in law. Great quality food. Personally full after my fish and chips by mother in law then demolished an apple crumble that would have fed the three of us washed down with lashings of custard. We booked the function room for a Christmas dinner/party with 15 friends. We had a great time. The staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Rian even stayed late to make sure everything ran smoothly for us. The food was above expectations too and we had such a lovely night. We really liked the relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

It was all beautifully organised with loads of toys provided, the buffet was brilliant and Cameron was there to help us if needed. He asked for feedback and looked interested in what we had to say. Thank you so much! I would definitely do it there again!

What a fantastic pub with such a warm and friendly staff. From start to finish we were just so impressed with this place. On a busy Sunday lunchtime they were full to capacity yet still managed to produce incredible food to our large party. Great food, great service, great pub!

What can we say, we had the best family meal on Xmas eve at the goldsmiths! We had the set lunch menu, and the food was cooked to perfection (including 4 steaks all cooked to how they were ordered, which were delicious and exceeded pub standard expectations) Our waiter was a complete legend. He was so lovely and attentive, and nothing was too much for him. He offered small extras to make our visit more comfortable (e.g more soup as he noticed our baby daughter was enjoying it so much) We were lucky as the kids table was running and our son was kept occupied by the lovely staff who were kind and patient with him. My mum said this was one of the best meals out she’d ever had, and she’s eaten out a lot! Honestly, thank you, it was truly a Xmas meal to remember. We can’t wait to come back soon.

We had Sunday dinner (roast lamb) here yesterday and it was excellent. Many of the staff are new and therefore service was a bit disorganised at times (I know they're all doing their best!) but the meal was everything you'd want, I'd definitely recommend it. A nice bonus was some music from a jazz quintet who all looked too young to be in a pub but who were great!

Really do love this place. Firstly - the Sunday lunches are excellent.Secondly - they have the kid’s table there on a Sunday - so parents can eat and drink in peace while the kids craft. Thirdly - you can tell the staff are tested on a Sunday as all of the above make it a very popular venue, but they handle it fantastically. Thanks for welcoming parents.

With a 2 year old I am always looking for somewhere we can go whatever toddlers are welcome. Not only is the Goldsmiths very family friendly but they do great food and the service is always really good, even when they are rushed off their feet.

The new staff here are just strange. They have a really weird attitude and it’s not welcoming at all. I’ve lived here for over 10 years and so I’ve been many come and go but every time we are in these days something literally forces us back out the door. Went in for a couple drinks on Saturday night, strange vibes. Waited 30 mins for one popcorn chicken starter, the round was £18 ish, I asked to pay with a £20 note and was told by a very rude woman with a brown ponytail and leopard belt ‘no we wouldn’t have change’. You wouldn’t have £1 change? Then their card machines broke down and they did indeed have lots of change.Doors were open, freezing cold even the busy staff had layers and jumpers on. I had a giant puffer and couldn’t warm up. Manager seemed rushed off their feet, one person wandering around on the floor, one person doing table service (was never offered) orders and one other on the bar. Not a good system unfortunately. Overheard the aforementioned ponytail lady patronising someone with a loud drawn out explanation of this at the bar. Also had piles of old food presumably kept from an earlier booking stacked up on the bar which staff were munching away at in between service - not appealing. Music was good, chicken was nice once it arrived.

I can't praise the folks at Goldsmiths enough, they were all absolutely amazing at helping me set up for my wife's surprise 50th this weekend. They offered to help put decs up, run for sellotape when I forgot. Erin was brilliant, and the food was delicious. The side room is well worth booking if you need a space. Do it. Do it now.

Visited with 6 adults and 3 children - the craft table is amazing!!!! Kids kept entertained whilst the adults were able to eat and catch up in peace. Service was exceptional, the staff go out of their way for you and the food delicious - have already booked our next visit!!

Such an amazing venue/ pub! We had our daughters 1st birthday in their private room and they could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Great space for a kids or adults birthday. Around 20 of us celebrated Dad’s life in the function room at the Goldsmith’s Arms. The vegetarian buffet was excellent and we also had vegan options. The beers & wines were excellent. The service was terrific and the staff were friendly and could not have done more. We enjoyed the ambience

We came across the pub by chance while staying at the travel lodge on the same road. We sre very glad we did. The pub looks great inside, slightly shabby in a good way! The background music was good too and added to the atmosphere. We ate the vegan chilli and the plant burger (we are vegans) and both were of a very high standard. We followed those up with apple crumble without the custard and that was one of the best i habe ever eaten. The service was very friendly amd we felt very welcome. All.in all a lovely experience after a long drive up from the west country.

We booked for family Sunday lunch because we had heard about the kids craft table for younger children. It allowed us to enjoy our lunch while our daughter was entrained. Food was great, staff very friendly and our family all had a lovely time together. Family friendly, especially for this lunch time slot, with lots of space and delicious food.

We just had our sons first birthday party in the function room. Erin and her team were amazing from start to finish. The food was delicious and they thought of everything possible. Popped into the Goldie for a Sunday roast and was not disappointed. Delicious food, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Lots of families enjoying their lunch together with the children brilliantly entertained at the kids table. Booked the Goldsmiths for a work dual birthday party on a Monday evening for around 20 people so it was relatively quiet which suited us perfectly. The staff were really helpful and friendly and accommodating. The food is very good indeed. Everyone had a very enjoyable evening.

Our first visit since before lockdown and all that.Table booked for six.Four adults and two children 3 and 8.It was packed, noisy and very busy ~ a Saturday night at the local ~ GREAT ! !Service was BRILLIANT~ nothing was too much trouble.Everything table service, friendly, prompt, efficient and quick.The three year olds food arrived super quick ~ the waitress knew about children kicking off if they get too hungry ~ fabulous.I had the Volden cask ale ~ well kept and well served a very tasty drop of ale!All the other drinks went down VeRY WELL.Food arrived quickly, considering how busy it was.Three Goldsmith burgers, a standard to judge others by and many fail this test.The chicken Schnitzel was gorgeous I was told.The children had simpler fare ~ sausages and stuff, with plenty of good vegetables.We thought that we might be back home for Strictly ~ no chance ~ we sat eating, talking, drinking for ages ~ it was a family night out at the local pub.IT WAS GREAT ! ! !

A comfortable 2 hour window for a roast turned into a race against time to get and eat our food before being evicted. Went for a Sunday roast, it was 35 minutes until we were offered the chance to order anything, food arrived an hour and half in and desert was unavailable. The food itself is pretty good but they clearly need more staff to handle Sunday dinner. Little things are missing such as giving people a heads up that it’s going to be a long wait to manage expectations, taking drink orders and providing cutlery before the food. This place has potential but it’s not the first occasion that they’ve been unable to handle the volume of people so it’s surprising that they have still not addressed the issue and introduced better practices.

We are just about to have a baby, brought our dog for a last hurrah before d-day. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was great and just felt very comfortable all evening. Nice having the option of going to the bar or table service.

We had a fantastic visit today. We were struck by how friendly the pub was as soon as we walked in, as well as how great the decor is - so much better than you'd guess from the outside! The pub also has a large beer garden at the back. The menu was great - more than the usual pub grub with interesting options for all. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. My daughter got to go to the kids table after she had eaten. I was really impressed by the safety and covid procedures to enter the Kids Table room and that it was run by professionals who immediately engaged my daughter so well that she didn't want to leave when it was time to go. Amazing that it was free to use too! Thanks to all the staff for an amazing experience for Sunday lunch today.

We’ve just had a great experience at the Goldsmiths. I’d seen on social media Kids Table were now at The Goldsmiths and booked up straight away, I wouldn’t have necessarily booked up had they not been there. It’s hard to enjoy a decent local meal with two kids but this was a game changer. We arrived, filled in our disclaimer and our son was entertained by two lovely women for nearly 3 hours! We of course checked in on him constantly but he was well looked after & not too keen to leave to eat his meal or go home. Great meal, great puddings, great service all made even better with FREE child care! I urge all local parents to go & enjoy as we did!

Burgers were moist and delicious. LOADS of fries! I asked for garlic mayonnaise and the chef made it up just for me. Erin Harry Sybil all friendly professional and just wonderful in every way.

Really pleased to see this pub reopen. They have a new management team with new ideas but who also know that great food and drink served by friendly staff are the most important things to get right. We all loved the free “kids’ room”, which provides free childcare for kids 3 and over in the function room from 12:30 to 4:30 on Sundays so parents can relax whilst kids have fun. Our 5 year old and our 9 year old both had a great time and our 9 year old asked me to give the pub 10,000 stars in this review!

I have been going to this pub since Antic opened it quite a few years ago, it was almost my second home at one point. Having moved out of Penge now I don't get to visit as much anymore.It is with a heavy heart that I have to say our Penge Day visit was a little disappointing. I was warned on Sunday morning by a member of staff who rang me as I had booked a table, that they were only doing a BBQ Menu. I thought that sounded OK but the selection of food on offer was disappointing. Only beef, chicken, or Vegan burgers and hot dogs were on offer. I was hoping for a bit more variety. Maybe some ribs, sweetcorn, the usual bbq fair. What we did have was very nice though, really liked the coleslaw. The staff are lovely, Ryan especially, who served as at lunch time was great.

Undercooked burger today (and my colleague's chicken was pink inside). I sent it back for a few more minutes on the BBQ and it came back like this. 'Sorry' is not good enough.Lovely staff but potentially dangerous food.Good DJ.

We went for Sunday lunch when the pub had The Kids Table company happening. This meant we were able to drop the kids off for 1 & 1/2 hours free childcare where they were able to do arts and craft fully supervised as we enjoyed they having a blissful peaceful Sunday lunch. We arranged early so the children could have some snacks at the pub before and stayed for a few drinks as well to make the most of our child free time. Al in all a great experience and so nice to see a pub outside essentially London offering something I like.

Visited for Sunday Rib Roast (yep it really was August) and this was exceptional. Together with a mug (love that) of their guest ale Black Sheep this was altogether a superb meal. As we were visiting late on Sunday the Bar Manager politely asked that my friends teenage daughters wouldn’t be able to be in the pub beyond 8pm which we respected. The Manager then did everything to take our order and serve us so we could leave in time. I liked the way this was explained and it never felt like we were being rushed.The food really was outstanding. Huge Yorkshire Puddings (extra ones given as it was the end of service), perfectly cooked beef. And another good thing - when ordering G&T, selection of guns were offered - a small touch but one not a lot of places always do.Overall fantastic place which feels like a genuine and welcoming local.

From the moment we arrived at The Goldsmiths we had amazing service and were looked after so well. The selection of food was great and they accommodated all dietary requirements. With a 2 year old who just loves to explore the garden was the perfect place for us to eat as it was safe for him to run around. We'll be coming again.

Visited with my partner son and new born baby. Staff were so friendly and attentive, the pub is really spacious and we had a good sized table and seating area. My 6 year old attended the kids table arts and craft session and was really happy have something to keep him occupied. He really enjoyed making crafts and only came back to the table to eat some food then ran back carry on with the fun crafts. Ordered the vegan roast which was lovely and the sticky toffee pudding desert was lovely. The price for 3 meals, drinks and 2 deserts was very reasonable. The atmosphere in the pub was relaxed and chilled out. Will definitely return, the whole service we received was to a really high standard and the added bonus of the attainment for my son was great and free.

It was ok. The vegetarian options were mush and poor. Staff asked my 5yr old to say please when he had already but wasn’t appropriate. Staff didn’t all wear masks.

Goldsmith's is a local for me and I go for the friendly atmosphere, lovely beer garden and good draught beers (beavertown neck oil and staropramen). Their menu is limited and they no longer have a kids menu choice which is disappointing, but the food is tasty and portions are adequate.

I gathered my relatives for a meal at the Goldsmiths Arms and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Tasty food, plenty of room to spread out inside and in the garden, and very friendly staff.

This is our local, we always have a great time here. Yummy food, great service and always a fantastic experience. We're obsessed with the sticky toffee pudding!

Great local pub. Went here for England V Scotland match with friends and they went above and beyond to ensure we and others could all see the game despite covid-19 restrictions. Amazing friendly and professional front of house staff ( particularly that night the lady with pink hair!) . Food is also always great. Love this place, well done Goldsmiths team.

When we arrived service was a bit slow as they were short staffed. Once they got going the food a drink was excellent especially the bar snacks. Could recommend the black pudding scotch egg. The young lady who took our orders worked so hard and was a star.

It felt like we’d come home this evening.. our fabulous Goldie’s was back… the garden is lush and a real green oasis for a quiet and cool evening drink- plus there is a great new menu - the chicken schnitzel & home made coleslaw is delish!! Lovely atmosphere, the food was delicious and great quality for pub food, at a v reasonable price. It was a bit disappointing that many of the staff were wearing their masks round their chins but I don’t want to knock my rating down for that, as we had a lovely evening- thanks.

With a few fantastic bars and breweries popping up, Penge suddenly seems to be offering a few options for a night out or a quick drink. However, the Goldsmiths is still top of the list. It's a proper, friendly local. The selection of drinks and the staff are brilliant. You'll always receive a warm welcome and a brilliant atmosphere.

Such a good little find in the heart of Penge. The garden is such a getaway from the busyness of the street as you couldn't tell where you were once inside. One of the first pubs we've visited since lockdown and the service was exceptional. Greeted and all standards adhered to. Table service was exceptional, we never had to wait for our drink to be empty before we offered another, but at the same time, didn't feel watched over or pestered. Myself and my fiance and the family we met up with loved our visit and I have already booked another visit to meet a friend. Must visit if nearby and fancy a drink!

Warm welcome, even though we had to sit outside. It wasn't busy so our food came quickly and was good. The only thing that lets this pub down are the prices.

First outing to a pub since October 2020 and we certainly were not disappointed. A warm friendly welcome by the staff, taken through to the garden seating area, where we remained for 8 hours. Fed and watered throughout. Didn’t have to wait to order drinks or food at any stage throughout the day. Thankyou to the staff for looking after us so well and we’re very much looking forward to the next visit!

We had a lovely evening in the garden. Great service (as usual), good atmosphere and good food. My husband had the beef burger and I had the vegan burger. Both were absolutely delicious.
