Golden Lee in Chesterfield

Quick delivery and big portions. However, the food is not good. We got the crispy chilli beef which was so sweet it was inedible. The sauce tasted like really sweet pineapple juice. The beef curry wasn't good either. It was bland and the beef was so pale. It didn't taste like beef. The salt and pepper ribs were just Chinese 5 spice flavour on top of onions and a bit of chilli. However, there was a good amount of meat on the ribs. The egg fried rice was OK. All in all it was poor and was not worth £30. Most of it went into the bin. Such a shame.

Just ordered a takeaway and I have to say it was amazingly tasty. We can highly recommend. The chicken in spicy mayonnaise sauce was gorgeous.

This is the place to go if you are looking for a delicious meal , this is probably the best in Chesterfield , food is delicious , all fresh ingredients , great range , cooked to perfection , and hot when you get it , quick delivery ,friendly and helpful staff , friendly delivery drivers , not a bad word to say about this place , all good good good.

First time trying Golden Lee this weekend as we were in town and decided we fancied a Chinese for a change. Was so easy to view the menu online and order. Prawn crackers and a big bottle of Diet Coke thrown in. We opted for a starter selection for 2, 2 main dishes and a rice dish. At almost £30 it's not cheap, but this is pretty much the going rate to be fair, and it was a bank holiday weekend takeaway treat. The starter selection was OK, again typical for a Chinese, but fine, but the mains were great, plenty of meat and veg in the dishes, and very tasty. I would usually struggle to eat so much heavy food, but not this time! Would definitely use again.

Nice food, been paying for prawn crackers and then decided not to order and came free? It has become more expensive now so looking for new place unfortunately. No issues, they have been great!

The food is always top class here. The best chicken Satay Skewers I have ever tasted! Egg fried rice is delicious and you get plenty of it, food is lovely from here best bbq ribs out of most places and beef is so tender staff very friendly and always make you feel welcome. I always recommend it to my family and friends as it's the best place to get authentic Chinese takeaway.👍👍

My family and I go here often. We fell in love with their Chicken curry and egg fried rice. There's something about the curry sauce that is like no other! It's VERY moreish and we keep coming back for more very consistent quality. The service is always charming and prompt. highly recommended😍

After reading all the great Google reviews, I must say that made me wanted to give this a try. Food was mediocre. Lemon chicken is a bit dry. The Singapore fried rice noodles taste quite nice but could be better if a little bit more salt or soya sauce was added.

The food here is absolutely outstanding so so nice best Chinese I have ever had by far and very reasonable on price to never go to any other Chinese takeaway again this is a must go to every time hats off to the staff and the chef. Highly recommend

The food is absolutely always 100% freshly made to your order, and any specific requests you have a happily received. Really authentic food and really good taste! The food is of the highest quality, cooked expertly & portion sizes are very generous, indeed!! Hand on heart, the ONLY Chinese Takeaway that I will go to. Highly recommend 👍

This is my all time favourite take out. Driver was polite and friendly. Food was excellent freshly-cooked and tender beef. Full of flavour it is always piping hot and every dish has its own lovely flavours! The quality of the dishes is uniformly first class. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

I’ve recently move into this area and heard great things about this place. They had great customer service on the phone and seemed welcoming. The food was delicious, the 1/2 of a crispy duck and peppery squid was so, so nice. and the delivery driver was super friendly! 10/10 would definitely order again and recommend 🙂

Ordered tonight after reading so many good reviews. Wow food was special. Not from around here and this Chinese was probably the best I've had. The guy said it was too late for delivery (my fault) then did ! Lovely people. Even when I asked for some chopsticks they had and gave me them! Proper Chinese food. Whenever I'm back around will be ordering again.

Home Delivery. Great looking Menu , but the quality was not there. Had a variety of dishes , which did not really inspire me to want to order again. Unfortunately , one of those bog-standard Chinese Food outlets.

Fabulous mouthwatering Chinese food on every level, gorgeous aromatic crispy duck, Really enjoyed the food from here. Delicious and fresh tasting. Love that the sauce for the lemon chicken was kept separate to keep the chicken crispy. Friendly, and polite telephone manner. the food is really good! In particular the chicken Chow Mein were fab and the crispy shredded beef with chilli was probably the best I've ever had. Give these guys a go!

Always very friendly and the speed of service is always excellent. It almost goes without saying that I love the food too! Just been here for a Chinese while in this COVID 19 Lockdown and must say the food was absolutely gorgeous! The food tasted gorgeous, fresh and full of flavour. May I say the crispy beef was the best I had ordered from anywhere. It had the the right amount of crispness compared to others in the past I have tried which is too chewy. The chicken balls were soft yet crispy and the noodles were flavoursome. 💯 Reccomend! 😊

My recent experience with this place has always been exemplary. Top notch food, very quick delivery, and always very hot to the touch. Also, they are VERY generous, 5 well deserved stars from me.

DO NOT USE ! Absolute joke this place used them regularly but never again ! Ordered at 18:55 and no food at 20:35 rang again and man said it’s on its way 21:05 no food so I rang again to be told it’s been delivered ! They put the delivery guy on the phone who decided to argue with me the he had delivered food ! I had no food . They then sent driver back to see if it had been delivered to correct address I waved at the driver . Another phone call telling me my food had been delivered ! NO IT WAS NOT ! Asked for a refund the man on the phone said sorry no refund I can cook again it’s now 10pm I don’t want food . So much for customer relations near enough calling me a liar . They have now in effect stolen £30 from me and I will take it further and will spread the word every corner of this town about it ! Disgusting behaviour towards a once loyal customer! Had to ring the police before i got my money back may i had to this dont let the reply below make you believe im a unreasonable one here !

1st time trying this Chinese. Ordered my collection at 7.30, got there slightly early, a very warm welcoming member of staff was very polite and advised that they were just finishing cooking the last of our dishes. Food was hot, fresh and tasted amazing, when we got home roughly a ten minute drive.I’ve eaten at a lot of the Chinese takeaways this is definitely my new favourite. Staff seemed really knowledgeable about their menu and dishes and clean establishment, took the time to tell us about the Malaysian dishes and recommend dishes which we may like. Will definitely be ordering from here more often, Highly recommended.

Taken our money, after waiting 2 hours we called them to see where food was. Takeaway adamant that they delivered the food and handed it to us (they didn’t) told they won’t refund us and wanted to deliver the food nearly 3 hours after we had ordered it. They have our money and we have no food.

We've been using this Chinese takeaway for many years and it consistently delivers fantastic, tasteful and satisfying food. Its menu has all the classics and a good selection of new dishes including veggie options. You always receive great service and they go one step further if you've any special requirements. Overall, highly recommended!!

I ordered and paid for a meal on line at approximately 3pm, and requested that it be delivered around 6.30pm, the meal hadn't arrived by 6.55pm so my husband rang and was told it would be there in 5mins. The delivery man arrived at 7.10pm, the meal was clock cold we only got half dozen prawn crackers and the wandering dragon dish was just sauce nothing else in it, I rang to complain and was told that was how they cook that dish just sauce! My husband has had that dish for years from takeaways and it has always been with meat and noodles, I didn't want to pay £6 odd for just sauce!! The person I spoke to did not apologise said I could'nt have a refund but offered another meal, which after such bad service declined, to be fair my dish of Mushrooms & prawns was tasty but cold. This was the first and last time I will use this takeaway!!

You pay £4 for delivery (inc service charge) only to wait almost two hours for the food to arrive. The place is literallyy 10 mins down the road, make it make sense.

Very nice food, nicely done and ready on time for collection. So why only 3 stars? 1. The pancake rolls were cold and needed microwaving before they could be eaten, and rice dish was not much warmer - clearly cooked long beforehand and just left. 2. The price charged for online ordering/paying was considerably more than the menu price - about 17% higher, and made the cost of the meal extortionate. Added to that was a 50p service charge, when the meal was collected? Effectively we paid £4.50 more (5 dishes) for ordering/paying beforehand and collecting ourselves! Unacceptable. 3. 'Free' prawn crackers amounted to less than half a bag - about 15 pieces. We felt this was mean and 'stingy'. The whole process gave the impression that they didn't really care. So sorry, we will also be taking our custom elsewhere now.

Last week was our first time we came to that place. But It is absolutely not the last time. With the efficient service, with the first-rate meal food tastes authentic and booze and with the honest pay. friendly service, nice and clean. We will absolutely come back again.

My house is tricky to find and the person who delivered the order found it very quickly and has been really professional, kind and lovely! Thanks a lot guys! Simply amazing - best Chinese in Chesterfield. The honey spare ribs and the lemon chicken are great! The chap on the phone was really helpful too, recommending veggie options and some new bits to try. Salt and pepper tofu is a winner! Speedy service and great food. Can’t recommend highly enough. 🥢

They will spoil your evening. After waiting 2 hours for a delivery promised within 1-1.5 hours, I rang to ask their ETA to be told I don't know and have the phone slammed down on me. I called but doubt the food was even on its way as they was quick to tell me it was canceled as I requested delivery within 5 minutes. They have zero respect for those that keep them in business. I will not be using again.

It's a good Chinese, quick and efficient delivery. Food is always hot and cooked well excellent fresh food. A great selection of food, tofu dishes available. My best is chicken Kung-Po and Szechuan style dishes. Highly recommended.👍

Delivery was fast too and very hot. I live about 9 miles from the Chinese. Definitely worth every penny. Highly recommended.

When I first moved to the area five years ago, someone recommended this place. It was excellent then as it still is. Went last week and the food was absolutely devine.

We made a big order and they did not seemed stressed even with lots of customers arriving and managed to keep professional and smile. Friendly, polite and great customer service. The food was delicious! The taste are so traditional. Highly recommend this place.

Our 1st experience of this Chinese takeaway, and we'll definitely be ordering again. The food arrived piping hot and well before the time estimated.
