Well... its not open so can't review... came to the island for my birthday ...wanted Chinese takeaway..

WOW!!! WOW !!! My wife and I both love this Chinese and when we come over to Millport on holiday we always enjoy our meals especially the Cripsy chilli chicken is a must!!! Staff are always friendly and chatty Looking forward to our next visits in 2024

Food is horrible. Why do they put gravy on top of chicken fried rice? No flavor. No part of the meal was warm. Just nasty.

Had this with my family and was absolutely class, fantastic value for money and all food was delicious. Was well fresh and not greasy or fatty. We had sweet and sour chicken, chicken satay, salt and pepper prawns and egg fried rice. All meat was tender and flavoursome. Sauces were very nice and there was plenty of veg. defo recommend

Everything I got was nice . Chicken curry , Prawn chilli honey , Satay all tasty .

tasty food at an affordable price

Tried a curry from this place today I will not try it again it was very watery, no taste and not worth the money, and talking about the money I phoned the order up as I was parked up further along in the town no mention of cash only until I had walked from one end of the town to the other only to discover that it was cash only to which I never carry so had walk back to the other end of the town again to get a bank, by the time I had walked back the meal was frozen, so never again one of the worst curries I have tasted

Have given this place a try on several occasions but won't be back.Unfortunately it's the only chinese restaurant on the island and they don't seem to care what muck they serve up.I've had the Tex Ritters every time I've eaten there.Never again it's had its chance.

Get carry out every Friday after getting off ferry have not been disappointed with anything we've had food very good

Beef fried rice with separate curry sauce and salt and chillie ribs. Lovely meal to end the day after exploring the island. Reasonable prices. Quick with order.

We ate here twice during our stay in Millport and enjoyed our food on both occasions. Friendly service and tasty Chinese food.The restaurant doesn't serve alcohol but allows customers to purchase and bring in drinks from the pub right next door.Did the trick for us.Would recommend.

Cosy, great atmosphere and lovely food. You need to book on a Saturday evening. Highly recommended! Take your own drinks too!

Perfectly edible but nothing like the special fried rice where I live in west Yorkshire although was fast and a little cheaper

We had a fabulous meal here. Food all freshly prepared and very tasty. From starters to dessert - beautiful! Spare ribs were so tasty and l really loved the prawn toast. King prawn and mushroom was fantastic. Cathy who served us did a great job as did Kenny who was always smiling. So good we went back last night this time had lovely chicken and sweetcorn soup and beef and oyster sauce. All so good we got a carry-out to bring home for our tea tonight!!!

I've read the other reviews and they appear a bit mixed. I've only visited for a takeaway, but on both occasions the service was quick and the food fine. Staff appeared friendly and helpful, so no complaints here. Speaking to some of the other patrons, I discovered the place is unlicensed, but you're allowed to take your own - some people were buying pints in the pub next door and bringing them to the restaurant! Strange but true!

We'd read the reviews and we decided to go anyway. Okay, yes, it's jaded BUT the food was lovely and, as others have said, it's novel popping next door to get your favourite tipple at pub prices rather than paying inflated restaurant prices .... what's not to like?Service was friendly and speedy. Fellow-customers included a large group of local women, a young dating couple and a group of young couples who were, like ourselves, tourists. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, as did we.We had some prawn toast, salt'n'chilli chicken wings, special curry and king prawn fried rice, all of which were served in generous portions as well as being delicious and filling.The only real surprise was the bill which seemed far too cheap - we checked it twice and it was correct!If you're a fan of fine-dining, obviously this is not the place for you. If you want tasty, delicious food at extremely reasonable prices you should give it a try - it won't cost much and you can decide for yourself which reviews are accurate.

A 60s time warp. Looks a bit jaded from outside but ignore that and go in! Not licensed so take your own booze with you. Pub next door. Inside still has crimson red flock wallpaper.....superb! Service is excellent. Highly recommend. Good food at reasonable prices.

Walking by outside and if you had not heard good reviews from friends , you certainly wouldn’t even consider going in as looks very run down. Inside is quite dated and you can either bring your own alcohol with you or nip out to pub next door and bring a drink back in. Food was quite tasty, no complaints at all with the food , however service slow in clearing away plates and drinks .

This is the only restaurant outwith pubs n cafes on Millport, so at first glance from the outside looks very poor, but we went in and ate. The service was very good, food was fine, but was disappointed when we asked for an alcoholic drink and was told they did not sell alcohol, and we could get one from the bar next door!! Also we went to pay by card, and was told it was cash only!! A sign with all this information would have helped, as we would have had cash to pay, but we had to then go to the cash machine. Also the look from the outside is very poor and in great need of a lick of paint and brightened up.

The outside of this establishment is in desperate need of a lick of paint and a clean...but hey, with the same crowd every week, why bother (previous reviews). The whole place was RED - lights, tables, walls..a bit un-nerving. Ordered food from staff as a take away. No problem. Food itself was poor and lacked flavour. Shame, but when your the only one in the village, why look to improve? Don't waste your money and cook your own with ingredients from the nearby supermarket.

We have been eating in The Golden Dragon for 18+ years and I have never had any cause to complain. The food is always delicious and well priced .The staff are always welcoming and very accommodating. It's BYOB or get your drinks from "the tavern" next door.If there is a particular dish that you would like , you only need to request it in advance and Peter(the chef) will prepare it for you .I can recommend the duck in plum sauce with pancakes ...yummyIts the same crowd of customers every weekend which I think speaks volumes!Book your table in advance to avoid disappointment

Always a fabulous night in the Golden Dragon! We have been coming here for 20+ years and never had a bad experience. Had a selection of Birthdays, anniversary’s, parties and all sorts! Staff are accommodating - it’s BYOB or use the pub next door for drinks. So well priced and a superb restaurant.

We have eaten hear for a number of years, and always make a few visits during our holidays in Millport. The food is excellent some of the best food we have tasted. Peter the chef can do anything you want as long as he has a bit of notice.

Ordered a takeaway.asked for a table .women said none but 6 empty tables ..worst sweet and sour ever.tasted of pure vinegar.binned.chow mein had no taste.binned.ended up having toast..spent £18 to line the bin!!! yuck yuck yuck.never again.save money.. buy a ready meal

Dirty place with dead flies in the window place dark and gloomy staff can’t be bothered woman had a face on like why you in here food came looked ok prawn cocktail had been made up and kept in fridge was watery sauce curry looked ok but partner felt queasy after it shame as only Chinese on the Island need to get it cleaned up

One of our favourite places to eat in Millport, food is brilliant and amazing value.

This was the only bad eating experience in Millport and wow it was bad. We only had a takeaway so no comments on the service but we went inside to order and I can only describe it as manky.

What a lovely meal. .just the right amount of well presented food ..great staff ..no problem to order or ask about anything. . Take your own bottle which makes good food and a cheap night a big thank you to the golden dragon.Millport

Excellent food & service, whether sitting in or takeaway!

We went on a Sunday night and the restaurant was very busy the food was excellent and the waiters/waitress though not Chinese were really helpful, no licence for alcohol but they were more than happy to go to the pub next door and bring drinks through.

It's a bit of a wait for your order as it is very popular.I can't fault the food it was lovely. Worth the ferry trip and the 12 mile cycle around the island, I will be back.

Very good food and very cheap! I'll definitely be back. Added bonus of BYOB or pop into the pub next door and bring a round of drinks through to restaurant.

So the warning signs were there from the off really

Have a steak, it comes sizzling on a hot plate and delicious. Decor is a little dated bt the staff and food are good so dont be put off by the decor.

Atmosphere was ghastly. I've been to livelier funerals. Miserable staff. Mediocre food. Dismally dark. Was a genuine relief to escape into the outside world. Only reason it's getting one star is because it won't let me leave none.

Dirty looking entrance to restaurant dated food ok not great poor fish in a tank far to small for it and woman serving had a face on her the whole time we were there very uninviting won't be back

Nos encanta la comida aquí. Un excelente menú con mucha variedad y, después de haber probado varios platos con los años, cada comida ha sido sabroso! Los precios son muy razonables y el servicio normalmente muy rápidos.

From 1st to last disaster, the man was rude, they had run out of menu's, he said theres one in the window, it was raining heavily, so get drowned before ordering. Totally messed up the order, the food was greasy & the curry was far to hot.

Have been going here for 25 years...we always get a takeaway from here at the weekends and its never been bad..! Looking forward to my next one 2 days :)

I was on The Isle of Cumbrae and felt it necessary to obtain a tasty Chinese snack, and of course the Golden Dragon was the only option. I felt as though the service was adequate and friendly, and the special fried rice definitely lived up to the name. I would like to thank the chef for his truly ingenious idea of adding a omelette to make it "special"
