Golden Cross in Slough

2nd visit in 2 years and was change over in management. Wayne (current manager) was very accommodating and provided free bottle of bubbly for mine and my partners Anniversary meal reservation and was really touched by the personal reservation board on table when we arrived....please see attached photo. Great atmosphere and ample inside and outdoor seating especially for summer which is ideal for families, couples, groups etc and they provide weekly to monthly entertainment which is a bonus

We enjoyed an amazing Sunday lunch at this lovely pub and Eaterie. Some of our group wanted a traditional roast and 2 of us were looking for tasty vegetarian options. We were not disappointed! Gorgeous roast beef with all of the trimmings and for the veggies - amazing tasty tart with veg. We were even made a special veggie gravy! Lovely ambience and super helpful, friendly staff. Highly recommend and we will be back 😊

We arrived on 30th May not knowing the area and found this little gem! From the moment we walked in both Ryan and Rob looked after us. The food was really good and reasonably priced but the service was outstanding! Having eaten in lots of Greene King & Hungry Horse pubs, would 100% recommend this pub as the best! Nothing was too much trouble for Ryan. The relaxed pub atmosphere and rustic charm will make us come back soon.

Wonderful. I ate here with family on a Sunday. 4 different carveries offered. We chose the lamb & the beef. All food was home cooked & the portions were generous. A good selection of vegetables were also served & we chose the extra of cauliflower cheese which we shared. The desert was a choice of berry & apple crumble served with custard, cream or both which was scrummy. Chocolate brownie also was an option. The bottle of wine was good & the service was really good. Will return!

Great pub. First time visit and loved the indoor and outdoor space and contemporary interior. Generous Sunday roast portion and lovely and fresh. Would definitely be returning 👍

Popped in for a pint to kill some time and had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Very welcoming pub with lovely staff and a decent selection of beers and ended up having a good chat with a couple of regulars. It made my afternoon.

A gem of a find near the Hilton London. Heathrow T5. It’s less then half a mile away and impossible to miss. Friendly staff and a reasonable selection of good value food.

We took a chance on a Sunday to just have a drive and see what we found to have some lunch, glad we did. This was a nice and welcoming pub, friendly staff and very good menu. A short walk from the Hilton we found the Pub. Glad we did, the food in this pub is amazing. Great value too You have to try the pie! Emma was an amazing member of staff.

After paying the best part of £20 for a Pint & G&T in the Hilton & looking at the menu we decided to make the 10min walk down the road to the Golden Cross. I have to say it was a brilliant find with Emma running bar superbly & very friendly with it. All drinks & food is straight forward enough to order via the app, drinks reasonably priced & the food is exceptional quality with a good varied menu. I would highly recommend this pub if you are staying nearby for food & drinks.

Called in after a l-o-n-g day at Legoland and didn't want to wait 2hours to eat at the Ibis down the road. We (me, 8yr old daughter, daughter's friend and her Gran) were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived by the fabulous Emma who advised us on drinks and food. Ordered 4 meals and 4 drinks which all came promptly. The chef was friendly and chatty and advised the girls about what to have. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the beer (for me) that Emma recommended. 4 (almost licked) clean plates and 5 empty glasses later, we left happy and full -and decent on the pocket! Will definitely call in again!!

Visited this location for evening meal and was not disappointed the meal was excellent large portions the mac cheese was delish and the fish n chips was excellent even the kid ate all of the kids meal the staff couldn't do more for you very helpful with questions we asked and friendly atmosphere good banter from some of the locals who where visiting. The seating area is very spaced out which helped with anxieties by one of the party it has a homely feel to it and you get free parking just register your car reg inside and that's it sorted had a good gantry too for those non drivers

Called into this pub after checking into the nearby IBIS Hotel. Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome. We ordered drinks and also decided to order food as well. But unfortunately the kitchen had just closed. However while having our drinks Emma the barmaid came over to our table and said she could arrange a Pizza for us if we wanted. We got the Pepperoni and can honestly say both myself and my partner agreed that it was one of the tastiest Pepperoni Pizzas we had ever had. To sum up a really tastefully decorated pub with exceptionally friendly staff members. If ever your in the area I would strongly suggest you pop in. Once again Emma thank you.

Trundle off the M25 and within a stones throw you arrive at this lovely eatery. Only minutes from Heathrow this traditional but contemporary modern pub provides a garden and a relaxing atmosphere. A truly warm welcome from the owner gives a feel of a local pub, and no doubt pre-motorway times it was just that.Absolutely perfect for those living nearby, post and pre airport visits and all travellers, this is a gem you'd never know existed, and for me that was until only about an hour ago.For those worried about Covid, the establishment is clean and safe. Yes, there is free parking but make sure you register your car index when you arrive. You're not going to be able to park here for your holiday overseas, and if you do it's going to be very very expensive!Give this lovely place a try!

Visited this pub while staying at the Ibis just up the road and would throughly recommend the less than 10 minute walk. We came for dinner and had a lovely booth in the garden. Food was excellent as were the very friendly staff. You can even indulge your inner plane spotter and watch the planes as they take off or land.

Just had a lovely meal at the Golden Cross in Poyle. Lovely genuine welcome from hostess Emma. Hadn't been there in years due to not very good experience but WOW what a difference! I used to drive 50 miles for amazing pie at the Catherine Wheel in Newbury but not anymore. The pies that they serve are AMAZING! None of that topper rubbish, proper home made filled to tbe brim awesome pie. Started with Tempura prawn which were excellent and my wife had Turkish delight cheesecake. I couldn't manage a pud after my pie. Oh and she had lamb shank which she loved also. Honestly, so nice having a lovely local pub that delights in great customer service and food. ...this sounds like I work for rhem but I don't,..check out my other reviews, I only ever leave reviews if I truly rate the place.

Visited here as down this way for a trip to Thorpe park, we came here after our visit as we just didn’t fancy the hotel food just a bit out of budget for us, so after a while of searching on Google we came across This little gem, my hubby rang them and they only had one table left, we took it, wasn’t sure want to expect but from the moment we walked in the staff were friendly and attentive, food ordered through the app and oh my what a pleasant surprise, so much food on my plate I ordered the lamb which was amazing! My son had the mixed grill which was presented lovely, my hubby had the steak which was also to the same high standard, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals here and also had beautiful desserts, my only complaint would be the table behind us were so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves at times, but that’s not the pubs fault , overall very good experience and a great find will visit again if ever in the area

We recently visited during the pandemic as a couple of colleagues was leaving our work and Emma was an incredible waitress. She made sure our night went smoothly with the new table service process and we all got our drinks and the food was amazing! Recommend this for anyone near the airport!!

We had booked a table here for after Legoland with our 6 year old daughter and we were staying in a hotel nearby. As we pulled into the car park we were unsure what to expect, however as soon as we entered it was a very pleasant surprise. Friendly staff greated us as soon as we arrived and explained the new covid measures (which were excellent). The interior is really nice although due to being such nice weather were seated in the lovely outdoor seating area. The service was very good and the food was very nice. This pub really is a hidden treasure and would highly recommend to anyone, we were made to feel very welcome.

This is a nice pub, good decor, nice atmosphere and really good food. Experience can however be disappointing if (as all pubs are now table service only) you visit at the wrong time. You may be unlucky to have the table server who is only interested in male patrons. In which case you may as well be invisible and can “go whistle” for a drink...or a menu....or the ability to order from said menu. Other than that other visits have been lovely as are other servers and of course the food.

You could easily pass this pub and not give it a second thought but if you take time to stop and go inside you will discover a beautiful pub, pleasent polite staff, great beer, great service and fantastic food. Well done to all the staff who make this such and enjoyable place.

Burger and beer! Goose IPA on tap which is a favourite and cheaper than London. The cheese burger with chips and delicious coleslaw far exceeded expectations for pub grub. £9 for an airport pub with a captive audience was reasonable. This is a good little pub and a bright light amongst an area of nothingness. Recommend

Have worked in this area for 30 years, but only recently close enough to use this pub again. Its looking the same from the outside as it always has. The inside has been renovated by the current owners, the bar area and the patio are my favourite places here. The food is great and the only downside is the parking , when its busy , due to how old the pub is, there wasn't much need for parking when there was horse & carts!

I had a delicious burger with bacon and blue cheese. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The rest of the menu looked very tasty too. The locals were enjoying a bit of banter, which is always good to see in a traditional pub. It’s a shame I couldn’t stay for longer. You need to register your car and ensure you enter your registration correctly.

Warmly greeted by the lovely lady behind the bar, so welcoming. Our meal was really good with chicken kebab for my husband and veggie suet pud for me, such a nice change from the usual veggie options. We shared a sinful chocolate cake and a great bottle of Merlot. Highly recommended.

My friend and I popped here after a relaxing time at the spa and as it was quite late we were told that the only thing we could order was one of the home made pizza.We were more than happy with that and ordered one to share.The food arrived promptly and was very tasty at affordable price as well.I would highly recommend coming here!

We visited this pub for a family meal. We arrived at 6.30 and we were initially told there would be a wait for food but were not told the exact time. We were not allowed to order straight away we had to wait to be told and waited for at least an hour and heard nothing despite several trips to the bar. The pub did not appear busy at all with lots of tables free. We ended up leaving with two very hungry kiddies.

I visited the Golden Cross yesterday afternoon with my mum & aunt for some lunch, unfortunatley we arrived after the kitchen had closed however we got chatting to the bar man about the pub & how it had been renovated & within a few minutes the owner/chef came out & offered to cook us lunch, this really said alot about their customer service, taking time out of his break to cook for us-we were really impressed! The food did not disappoint, mum had a perfectly cooked steak & me & my aunty had the ultimate chicken burger- best chicken burger ive ever had!! Lovely pub, nice chilled atmosphere, very friendly bar man & super chef, defo going back soon, highly recommend you visit!

This little pub is an amazing little gem. It is easy to get to with parking and the food is very tasty The atmosphere is welcoming as well as the friendliness of the staff makes you want to go back every time. Prices are reasonable as well.

Highly recommend this pub. Walking distance from Heathrow airport Travelodge, situated within an industrial estate we find a beautiful country English pub. Really cosy inside and lovely beer garden. Staff all really friendly and welcoming, including owners Paul and Emma. Also food was delicious, we all really enjoyed it and excellent value for money. A real diamond in the rough.

We chose the Golden X for our little boy Harry's Baptism party and we definatly weren't disappointed. All the bar staff were very riendly and accommodating, helping to set up all the decorations, the cake and making sure everything was ready for us and our guests on arrival. The buffet food served went down very well with with everyone,and despite everyone having full plates more food kept coming. We can highly recommend and will be visiting again soon for the friendly service and 5* food! Thank you again Paul, Emma and Godiva for an amazing day!!

Great English Pub, pulled beers, good mussels and pizza. Comfortable local atmosphere, bright and roomy. A local pub that makes you feel at home. It is on our do over list of places to eat.

Popped to the Golden Cross today for a spot of lunch, selected the CHICKEN CLUB from the pizza menu, arrived promptly & very fresh even with my request to “pimp” it a little. All served with the usual happy & friendly smile from Paul. Will be back again for more very soon

Warm friendly greetings from the staff,who advised about car park procedures. Authentic, rustic ,homely indoor area, offering both bar and restaurant facilities. Excellent selection of homemade food and extensive drink selection. Lovely outdoor area to enjoy in the sunshine.

I attended a first communion party here on 11th May, I can’t recommend this place enough . The service provided by Paul and the team here is so attentive and helpful . The food is amazing , drinks are good value and good selection . I nice little garden with plenty of seats and space for kids to play . It’s very family friendly and we will be going again soon !

Simple, quaint and straight forward pub. We stayed in the Hilton and decided to go out for dinner. The prices are reasonable, the food is to a good standard and the bar staff friendly. I would definitely recommend for a bite to eat.

I just popped into the Golden Cross for a lunch stop. I was presented with their new menu by the lovely Paul. The new menu is a MUST try, waaay better than the previous one. Always a pleasant visit with good service and relaxing vibes.

We were staying overnight at a nearby hotel as we had a 7am flight the next morning, going past the pub on the roundabout I thought it would be good to pop in and have a drink.

Before picking up my daughter from Heathrow I found this pub which was close to the airport. The interior was very clean and well decorated. The bar staff was very helpful and recommended a bbq burger and waffle chips which was excellent and very tasty. It was a relaxing atmosphere and we sat by the window watching the planes take off. All together I would recommend this pub if you need somewhere close to the airport for a meal.

We visited this pub on our way to park our car for our flight. We decided to have lunch here rather then using airport food outlets and we didn't regret it, the food was great and it has an wonderful ambience, love the quirky chandelier

Been here a few times, you need to be sure to register your car at the bar if you park. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. The food off the new menu is delicious. Worth a visit or two.

A pub that serves Pizza and doesnot have Fish and Chips on the lunch menu ? Looks traditional from the outside ,but us a mix of modern and traditional on the inside. The chips are fresh and the onion rings lightly done ,but the scampi is just about ok ,and they did forget the peas first time around ....

The food was excellent, but arrived at 835pm to be told kitchen was shut, yet sign behind bar said food to 9pm. Anyway they sorted that out and I had a lovely meal, but then they rang last orders at 930pm and started cleaning up around me before 10pm and I was still trying to finish my drink! I can’t recommend the Golden Cross enough. We were staying at the Travelodge which is 5 minutes away. Take the walk, the food is far more superior and the service is second to none. They’ve just launched a new menu, the Wagu burger is a must. All food is freshly cooked to order. There’s a really great choice of drinks too. The staff in the Golden Cross really make the place special. So friendly. If you’re airline staff they offer a discount too! Great place!!!

The staff were so rude and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We went in a big group and agreed to sit on separate tables, however the guy serving us was so rude and kept telling us our food will come out late. We were happy to wait for it but everytime we were about to order something, he kept repeating himself in a rude manner, eventually he said I'm not going to serve anyone else from our group as they are too busy (the pub was empty). He was happy to serve customers who walked in after us which doesn't make sense. We couldn't even leave as some of us paid. I hate to say this but he was racist and I would never go back there.

We went here while staying at the Travelodge only a short stroll down the road. After seeing the reviews we decided to check it out and it was open at 6pm on a Saturday BUT, we wanted food and were told that the kitchens had closed AND that the bar would also be closing shortly as there wasn't much trade! We had a drink and sat in the (very noisy, but pleasant) beer garden under the flight path! Shame, as the place had appealing decor but is obviously short on customers.
