First time takeaway from Golden Chip and it was delicious, lovely light crispie batter and perfect chips 👌 thank you!

Such a great chippie. Good menu but dont forget to order as soon as you arrive as they cook it fresh.

Realmente me encantaba este lugar, gritaba desde los tejados sobre él. Tuve que escribir esta reseña ya que las dos últimas veces que he estado fue horrible. Les di el beneficio de la duda. Parece que tienen personal nuevo, solía ser uno que estuvo allí años. Esta visita pagué extra por queso sin queso. Las patatas fritas estaban crudas y empapadas al mismo tiempo. Fueron confundidos con aceite. thwy estaban en comestibles. Esta vez no volveré, el lugar se ha ido a los boxes. El personal es impredecible. Muy rudo.

Llamé aquí anoche y aunque era cerca de la hora en que cierran (bastante seguro de que solía ser 10) los dos empleados detrás del mostrador estaban más que felices de cocinarme algo de comida. Fue atendido por una encantadora chica de cabello oscuro que charló y fue muy educada y un hombre que fue muy amable e incluso me habló de algunas opciones sobre qué tener. La comida era deliciosa y muy bien preparada y sin duda volveremos!

Visiting in hospital fir some time so starving nipped out and ordered pastie and chip I have absolutely no idea what that pastie was made off something white with weird taste and soggy chips first visit sorry won’t be back

Having just ordered a cod super takeaway not having been to the golden chip for a few months was very disappointed. The cod was the size of good size fish finger also both cod an chips were soggy I only live 2 mins away as usual didn’t order salt n vinegar as this tends to make it soggy and at £7-50 it was way over priced. Having been driving through dundrum a week ago I called into Mourne seafood restaurant for a carry out cod an chips travelled roughly 2 mins away to eat it in a beach side Carpark. The chips were triple cooked. The fish batter you could feel the crunch in the batter Portion size was massive would struggle to finish it on my own. It was gorgeous. All for a £7-50. The same price as golden chip. Would gladly pay £7-50 all day for Mourne seafood cod supper. Golden chip arnt in the same planet as these guys in dundrum yet charging the same price. Sorry won’t be back to golden chip

My work colleagues and I used to get our lunch here quite regularly but had got out of the way of it so last week, we thought we'd give it a go. After reading a few bad reviews on here, I was a bit dubious but after ordering three kids chicken goujons with chips meals (we can't eat a full meal anymore) I'm glad I was wrong. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the chips were crispy on the outside, fluffy inside just the way I like them. We didn't have long to wait max 10 mins & the young girl on the counter was very pleasant.

i would get takeaway about once a month from here and the food is always good, I would recommend chicken strips or battered sausages a my fav plus some onion rings on the side.

Excelente ubicación para comida rápida en el camino del tradicional Fish and Chips. Aunque un menú variado sirve muchas selecciones diferentes. El mejor fish and chips en el área y ha ganado premios para respaldar su reputación. Está claro que el propietario elige el mejor de los ingredientes locales que refleja la deliciosa comida que se sirve. El estacionamiento puede ser un poco complicado, pero vale la pena el esfuerzo cuando buscas el mejor pescado y papas fritas.

I havnt had any thing form the golden chip in about 8 months I kept hearing mixed reports so tonight I decided to get the chicken strips and the son got chicken strips and chips and I'm food was as good as ever and believe me I'm fussy and I don't think I waited any longer than 20 mins for delivery so well done keep up the good work

We're not in the habit of regular fast food, but when hubby texts me at work to say he's gone to Golden Chip it makes the Friday afternoon work that bit better. Chips tasty with fluffy potatoes. Cod yum.

have to say best chips about the fish is so good, only thing puts me off is the rude lady who serves I asked for salt and vinegar and it was such I problem

Que decepcion. Sí, hubo un que bastante justo sin embargo, mi chip de curry se inventó años antes de mi hamburguesa, que luego también se sentó para otra edad antes de que mi orden de las esposas estuviera lista. Burger casi frío no pudo terminarlo y las papas fritas de curry eran un desastre debido a haberse sentado tanto tiempo. No volveré. El personal realmente debería intentar sonreír una y otra vez también.

Nos visita este año cuando cada "fish and chips" están trabajando en dundonald durante 4 semanas. Este preparado es muy limpio y el personal es amable. Las tiras de pollo son muy recomendados y la salsa de curry es precioso. Este "fish and chips" ha ganado un montón de premios y una vez que han probado la comida usted puede ver por qué.

I go,every week at least twice a week ok staff don't always smile but the food and service is great in my eyes some people moan about the stupidest thing it's,like beening on holiday sorry but best chippy going and always a big q at the weekend so it speaks for its self I just love the place no wonder it keeps getting the rewards well deserved in my eyes

Más pequeña porción de chips y muy grasienta. Servicio lento, yo estaba consciente de que algunos de mi comida estaba listo, iba frío esperando para completar la orden.

Se puede decir mucho sobre una Chippie por la calidad de su pescado y patatas fritas, ni de lo que me parece impresionante en este lugar. A menudo el mejor pescado es completamente pegada al papel cuando lleguen a casa y las patatas fritas son tan blanco parece como si he sido duros y no fritos. El personal parece que están todos en el Valium por ley.

Got scampi box which included peas, 2 onion rings and chips. I don't know whether there was onion in the rings nor do I know if there was scampi in the batter because it seemed as if I was eating nothing but batter. Very poor and at £6.45 I will not be buying again.

Bought 4 meals the girl behind counter put salt and vinegar on without asking by the time I drove home the grease had soaked the bag and the are fell out of it, will never eat there again and they also have a cheek to display best chippy banner the owner doesn't even look like his hygiene is fit to run a food shop

I have ordered from here for the first time recently. I was told when I asked if the battered and meat items where fried seperately than the chips (as I have a severe egg allergy) I was told this was the case. After the second occassion of eating here I had very bad pains in my stomach and put it down to something else I had touched that day. I went to order again (third time) and just confirmed on this occasion that the seperate frying was still the case.... to be told no??? Does this mean it never was. Does this mean I was lied to? Even a small amount off egg for instance 'in batter' can cause me an adverse reaction, too much can cause anaphylaxis!!! (I carry an epipen). This is not acceptable for an establishment which states on the door ' Please tell us if you have any dietary needs'. I am very upset as this is such a serious problem for many people who have allergies. This could have ended so much worse... if I had accidentally got a lose bit of batter in my chip portion...!!! You do not practice what you preach on your door Golden Chip and that is so dangerous to anyone with allergy issues!!! I will not be back!!!

Well where do I start....Well me and my partner went into the store together and we waited to be served when we got served the girl was cooking the food and grunted what are you having he answered and when I went to answer she started to talk to another colleague and after that discussion she never asked me again and asked the person behind us.I then had to say I also want a chicken kebab they had none in stock and asked the following person what they wanted so I just left with no food. Also I would like to add the man in front of me ordered and that order was messed up by the same girl. To add salt to the wounds when we were leaving a mouse ran in front of me from round the side on the shop to be fair I don't know if it was from that shop or not or the food place beside. I will never be back again and I hope people read this review before wasting your money on poor customer service and potentially a non hygienic eating establishment.Well after seeing the mouse my partner could not even eat the food and one last comment the girl cooking the food did not know what a smile was. 1 star given as no option of 0.

I have been getting takeaway from the golden chip for years, have always stuck to the chip shop classics and never been disappointed. Tonight was a battered sausage super. crisp batter, tasty chips all cooked to order. No need to go anywhere else 5 star

Delivery is an absolute disgrace over 1hr 20min on a Tuesday for 3 kids chicken nugget meals.... really? Food isn't that great either so I Definitely won't be buying from The Golden chip again!!

Really nice food and this is from someone who isn't really into chippy food portions are a bit small and the place has the atmosphere of a basket of stockings bt good service good food worth the trip

As we live locally, we have availed of the services of The Golden Chip many times. It's always delicious but the last few times they have surpassed themselves.Well worth travelling a few miles if you're looking for tasty chips, it will be worth it!

This is the only decent chippy I can seem to find for miles and my friends agree. Big portions great value for money. Especially the variety box which is my fav lately. Great staff and owner. Very friendly and polite. Keep up the good work and well done =:) =:)

I am a regular at this chippy and to be frank and honest, the portions do not merit the prices you have to pay , the chips tonight are not the nicest, lukewarm and loads with eyes in them and the least said about the hot dog ( broken sausage instead of cut in half) the better.........very disappointed

After reading so much about this place and hearing it has won awards, I decided since I was up that neck of the woods to try out this "amazing" chippy. Who I presume is the owner stared us out the whole time we were there, and the staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there. I got a chicken kebab on chips with garlic and while it was nice, it's definitely not the best chippy I've ever had, and it's quite expensive too for what it is! If you're nearby then all means it's tasty and does the job.

Not the quickest service but well worth the wait. The fish was a good size lightly battered and fresh. Good chunky chips and well done.

Brought up in East Belfast and this was always the chippy of choice.Been living in England for years and decided to treat the family on a rare trip "home". Have to say it was very disappointing and not at all what I remembered at all.All the portions of chips were luke warm at best, maybe been sitting around?Portions were small as others have mentioned too. We got the chicken strips and my memory said you always got more than 3?Service was so very S-L-O-W and it was not too busy when I wasWould not return

As someone who up to about 2 years ago called here regularly but then had to stop as per doctor I called here recently as a wee treat. I found the service poor and definitely the quantities were less. From a health point of view a good thing but sadly prices did not reflect that. Been revamped outside which is good but nothing beats good attentive service.

I've been to this chippy countless times over the last few years, it has gone downhill from being one of the best in the area to a place I wouldn't choose to go to anymore. The quality and quantity of the food has declined a lot, last time I went the staff kept complaining to each other that there weren't many chips left and when I ordered my chips it was served in a smaller container than usual obviously due to the fact they were running out and handed to me for the same price, which I found extremely cheeky. Not up to standard of other chippies in the area.

I hate the thin stringy chips offered by fast food outlets. The Golden Chip offers real chips - crunchy on the outside and plenty of potato inside!

This evening I had the best fish supper and the shortest wait ever from The Golden Chip,and what made it even better was the owners big smiling face at the other side of the counter, what a difference a smile makes.!!!Keep behind that counter Trevor and you will double your turn over in no time at all.and maybe some of your charm wash of on some of your older staff.Well done AFR

Lovely chips, fast service and freshly cooked to order. This place seems to have won various awards and i can see why.

If you want something truly northern irish and more importantly belfast / county down (ulster fry aside )you must have a pastie(not to be associated with the British version) ,and you will find non finer than at the golden chip. I'm not kidding ,I grew up on these things and the golden chip is unequaled. The batter is fantastic but the pastie along with being a meal in and of itself is a culinary delight . Chicken strips are equally delicious . Hell Golden Chip gets my vote for prime minister

Been a few times and food has always been decent. Could do with the owner being friendlier though as he always looks miserable and stares at you!

While waiting for my order I noticed that food waiting to be cooked had bluemould on it. I mentioned it to the owner and he started to pick some pieces out and throw them away. He then took the whole tray away and replaced it. The new tray was also scrutinized and more pieces thrown away. There was no conversation from the owner. A woman beside me noticed as well. Although I took my order I did not eat it. Very disappointed.

Recently visited the Golden Chip, usual thing.....late getting back and didn't really want to cook anything. So I thought.......I know a great place to go and called in for three meals.The Golden Chip is situated just into Comber Road from Upper Newtownards Road and sits just behind 'Ye Olde Elk Inn'. This chippy is always busy and cars park along both directions of the road to get their meals.The staff inside are quick and efficient and have a system going to deal with the many customers that pass through their doors.Before you know it you're on the way home with a great meal. We had two lots of fish, chips and peas with a further sausage and chips....mmmmmmmm!If you are passing, make a point to call past and enjoy a great local meal.

Visit this chippy everytime I take my son swimmimg in Ards and can't recommend it highly enough! Been going here for years and they serve the best pasties around, they are huge and full of potato! The chicken strips are also a treat with thin batter and packed full of chicken. The prices are very reasonable compared to other chip shops in Belfast. Recommend this highly to everyone!

Fish and chips at its best - I reckon it's worth a little travel time for guaranteed quality. Only negative is the queue, but it usually moves reasonably quickly.

Called in busy Friday long queue and hard to park the fish and chips where a bit under cooked just a bit greasy for me they take debit cards but you pay extra for that will try it again sometime not the worst place but not in my top 5 chipies

Food was really good & plenty of it. Staff friendly even though it was a busy Friday tea time. East to park outside shop & they will accept telephone orders which are ready just to be collected.

Really can't get better fish and chips anywhere else in the country, this is a real gem. Not expensive either. Recommend anyone to give it a try.

Great place (excuse the pun) for fish. I always have their haddock which is fresh, firm and delicious.Great chips .We always have a golden chippie day on Friday as I work nearby and they take our order by phone and always have it ready hot to collect.If you cant manage a whole fish supper you always get a handful of chips with your fish anyhow.
