Golden Bay in Conwy

New to area and stopped off here for lunchtime fish and chips, fresh and tasty and reasonable price for quality. Clean looking premises and friendly staff. Impressed by menu and so returned a couple nights later for a banquet special. Travelled home a few miles still hot, good portions and very tasty. Enjoyed every mouthful. Will be back!

Tonight was a let down, I had fish, chips, peas and gravy, the chips were hard, the fish was hard around the edges, the pease and gravy were very nice as always, didn't enjoy it.

Been going here for a long time, when we are passing, or in the area. So that says a lot for the place Always people ordering, so it shows it's a popular place to go for a takeaway Chinese meal. Consistent

Tonight we ordered a banquet from golden bay absolutely perfect first time ever having chicken and sweetcorn soup from here they actually had proper chicken In The soup other places you don’t get that also every meal was jam packed with good quality ingredients ,we have had banquets from local places and never ever had quality like it well done perfections we will never ever go anywhere else now just wish we had realised how amazing the food is from here xxxtry it you won’t ever go anywhere else Thankyou golden bay money we’ll spent

Ordered half Chinese half chippy. The mushy peas were very dry and sweet. Sauce in the sauce was really tasty but the chicken was gross. Wouldn’t rush to go back

Chips can be hit or miss, the staff are friendly but the service is quite slow even if you do a phone order

Best chippy to go to if ur on holiday the chips are lush and the chicken fried rice was delicious

Tried the new salt and peper box,was ok but don't think I'd buy it again. The chicken fried rice and chow mien was lovely. Will definitely return again when we're next in the area

Shocking service with no communication with customers and a wait for 50mins for just fish and chips… Do not recommend as have had previous meals with bones and hair in.

Absolutely 100% recommend this chippy everything was so nice, we are here on a caravan park from Liverpool all I can say is thank god i don't live by the chippy as I'd be never out of here. Staff are lovely and food is always piping hot when we get back the van

I did a big order for my family thinking they would have good food, very disappointed. Food leaked all in the bag was put in upside down, noodles were dry rice was over cooked, pot of curry sauce was missing, the lady would benefit if she would crack a smile and be more friendly too, won't be back that's for sure

Visited here twice during a trip away to wales. Felt I had to review purely because the very friendly staff. Very polite, professional and appreciative of money spent. Food was lovely and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

I run an entire hospital company On entering the staff seemed confused with no emotion Two females with glasses was rude commenting on other customers i felt like I I was in a good fish bowl staff seemed to be glazing at an order board but not a lot happening and was acting busy but in reality talking about customers food bland no taste not patch on the Chinese place next door this place in serious in need of staff re-shuffle and training no manners at all these ppl need to realise without customers there is no business as small as it is they need to value customers or I’d this chip shop is happy to carry on dishing chips that’s fine I won’t be going back and I will be sending my thoughts to my friends and family as we have holiday places here between us and we are regulars to area, for us it’s a no no

I had an allergic reaction to the Hosin sauce - I have a peanut allergy and it doesn't state anywhere on the menu it had peanuts in it. You're quite lucky it's not a fatal reaction

I only had a fish. It was freshly cooked with crispy batter. Would recommend.

Went with the family. Got some fish, chips, couple of sausages, curry sauce and a few pickled onions. While OK, it was nothing to call home about. The portion of chips we bought was their large one. However, the portion was rather small. The chips also were not the nicest, we wondered once home and opened the food whether the oil was due a change or something. The sausages were not that nice either. The fish was really nice on the other hand. As was their curry sauce. (We opted for the more chip shop style to accompany the chip shop food). The service was good. Friendly and polite staff who were attentive to the customers in. We would go again if passing and wanting a quick meal. But we wouldn't go out with the intention of ordering from there based upon our experience.

Great Chinese food and really nice fish and chips

Been several times, which tells its own story. Can be very busy and although I rang order through and was told 20-30 minutes it was more like an hour 😡 however the whatever in black bean sauce is very tasty if you ask for extra spicy 👍 yes would recommend but sometimes expect a wait.

We spotted this takeaway on our way back to our campsite and so glad we did. The shop inside was nice and clean and everything was well presented and clear to read. The staff were really friendly and were quick to serve us. There was a really big selection too choose from as it is a Chinese/fish and chip shop takeaway. We ordered a varied selection of food of the menu and everything was cooked fresh to order so we had to wait about 10 mins but it was worth the wait. The food was really well priced and worth every penny. The food was so tasty and cooked perfectly, I had pie, chips, peas and gravy and it was so tasty it was such a nice meal and wasn't greasy either I would definitely recommend anyone to visit this takeaway if your in the area visiting or even live there because your missing out on a little gem.

The food here is not the cheapest but it is the best for miles around. We enjoy visiting and often go once or twice a month. Great food and helpful, courteous staff, do you need anymore?

Food we ordered from here was vile ordered spicy chicken strips which looked like mainly batter pieces and looked like tentacles really awful sweet and sour pork which was very small pieces of pork chopped up barely any meat and heavily covered in batter fried rice was very bland and dry looked like it had been fried for about 1 minute chips very small portions and tasted burnt and looked like re heats gravy was very dark brown and tasted awful so called mushy peas were like bullets someone had fired out of a bb pellet gun also food was very expensive for what you get and staff quite rude in this place avoid if i was you plenty of other eateries in the surrounding area wont ever use this place again terrible!!

Fish Chips Mild Curry Gravy Fish was nice Chips ok Mild Curry ok Gravy not edible Everything was lovely except for the gravy which was charcoal colour but wasnt nice at all This was the only downside everything else was nice and worth a visit

After going to this chippy for years and never having a problem, i went today and the lady who served us was awful! She had a really bad attitude, was rolling her eyes at me. Then snatched the money from my partner's hand and then threw the change at him which fell on the floor. Although the food was ok I'll not be returning again!!

Disappointed over quality of food. Chicken tasted under cooked plus the sweet & sour pork piece's were hard. Prawn toast tasted bland & burnt. Other than that a waiting time for 15 mins wasn't too long as it was busy at 22.10 I won't going here again 👎

Went today for a Mother’s Day treat and omg it cost 78 quid for 5 sausage 2 egg fried rice 2 large chips a chicken fried rice a beef curry with a free egg fried rice 3 curry 2 gravy a prawn toast Salt and pepper box (chicken and chips ) said to my daughter in law seems abit expensive that go in get a menu so can add it up and she was told the foods gone up the prices have gone up so what u see on the menus and the board his not what your paying rang up has asked for spring rolls wasn’t in the order when I got home was told the prices have gone up ors they would have to close there business like that’s our problem anyway the chicken fried rice had bits of chicken like they had pulled it of a chicken wing I will never eat from here again what a joke more went in the bin than the family eat

Thought I would try this Chippy , 👎👎👎👎👎, thumbs down from me, measly portions,the tray was about 75mm x 150 mm x 24mm deep 😖 & extortionate price for what you get ,won't be going back there in a rush.

Salt and pepper box was poorly portioned and chicken balls didn't taste well cooked. Also got my order incorrect. Wouldn't order the box again unfortunately. Disappointing. Called to say they forget some of my order but they just didn't write it down.

Chicken balls should be tempura batter not overdone fish batter. The gravy is strange, it’s easy to buy normal Chippy gravy apart from that it’s quite good

Fantastic chippy. A good balance of food options and the quality is good. Lovely fish, batter delicious but can become a little soggy on one side. Could be a downer for some but I like a mix of soft and crispy on my chippy chips. Lovely sausage and chips have a good balance between soft and crispy. As with every chippy, extra salt and vinegar is a must. The mix of chinese food is great as you have the best of both worlds available if some fancy Chinese and some English and the Chinese is also good. Portion sizes are fair for the money as this establishment is well priced and you can feed a young family of 4 for £15 very easily (chippy good). The Chinese portions are not large but again are not pricey vs some Chinese only takeaways and restaurants. Worth a visit if you're local or passing, easy tea and service times on visit are solid, only 5 to 10 minutes wait for food even when busy.

Food is amazing here so that’s the first thing to say. However the service is shocking. They allow more than they should in and tonight I waited over 40 minutes for my food when I was told only a 10 minute wait. Everyone was coming...

Salt and pepper chicken is appalling, very bland, flavourless. Prawn toast cremated, but soggy inside, I regret buying from here as it was a waste of money to go in the bin for the poor quality. If you like Chinese food I'd go somewhere else as the standards are very low here and the food is flavourless. Anyone that loves Chinese food would agree its not to standards. I won't use them again, also their h&h rating is 2.. probably why the food is such bad quality.
