Goat Ledge in Hastings

Not to be missed, especially if the weather is good. Colourful and full of life. Amazing fish burgers with skinny fries. The queue for ordering moves at a good pace - the system for placing an order & paying seems efficient. Staff seem happy and friendly. No loos though, you have to use the 'public conveniences' further along the promenade. Bring back the huts! I missed the chance to book a hut 😔

Great sandwiches and reasonably priced pints for an afternoon enjoying the sun.

Had the vegan smoked tofu and kimchi burger. Holy moly it was amazing. Brilliant vibes sitting out in the sun, people watching and listening to their great tunes. What an excellent place ❤️

Lovely staff, very helpful. I struggled a bit putting my lid on my drink and they helped me straight away with a smile. They listened to me and made my drink perfectly. I didn’t consume any food but it definitely looked tasty. The prices are extremely reasonable and the location is fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if you get the opportunity to!

'I saw you coming' - Harry Enfileds classic sketch pre-empts this in the form of an overpriced junk shop,,,, however queues here are a mark of respect, and beach drinking locals are ignored like pesky seagulls... oh dear it began with feeding the poor fish ethics and where are we now - Bayte on the beach ?

Honestly this place heals the soul. A cafe on the beach with music playing, great coffee and food. Everyone always has a smile on their face, staff and customers both. Everytime I go there there's a line up the promenade (and it's always worth the wait) and the line moves fast. Colourful, hippy-esque, joyful and I went there most weekends for about a year to get a coffee and a sunrise sandwich or maybe a pastry or bacon bap. There's cover if its rainy or windy, you can book out your own private cosy little hut by the main building, they do cocktails sometimes or barbecues. When you turn up you never really know what they've thought up next, and it always seems to be expanding. For good reason. Long live Goat Ledge <3

The visit to Goat Ledge on Boxing Day was both aided and hindered by good weather! We were part of a long line of people waiting to order drinks. It seems there was another line for hot food, which we did not wait for. Service was polite and friendly, with so many people, people flow was slow but the live music was great. It is a fascinating place with covered huts/booths which can be rented although we have never done so. A lot of fun here

I've been a regular visitor to Goat Ledge for a while now and always enjoy the experience. In the winter the main cafe is closed up to protect it from the elements and 'baby goat' is open instead, a small kiosk style ordering booth. As the cafe is closed the menu is reduced but still fabulous, from the best cheese toasties with balsamic shallots (vegan cheese available as well, equally as good), homemade sausage rolls, soups and cakes. The coffee is wonderful and there are many varieties of drink available to help warm the cockles on a cold day (I'm a huge fan of the coconut milk mocha). Sit outside if the weather behaves, or in one of the themed huts out of the wind. Everyone is friendly and helpful and it's one of my fav places to stop on a walk. I mean who doesn't want to enjoy lunch while gazing out at the sea?!

Even on a cold windy Sunday morning in early December the Goat Ledge team will rajse your spirits and warm the cockles of your heart with a delicious and expertly made coffee... like the posh cafes do in that there Londom.

Great atmosphere on the seafront can book little themed wooden pods to sit in too.

Lovely hot chocolate stop on a slightly cold November day luckily it eas nice enough to ait outside wrapped up with a hot chocolate sausage rolls were really good too staff lovely a lovely wee place

I was recommended to eat here by a friend. As it was on the beach I wasn't expecting much of a atmosphere or many food options (aswell as being vegan) BUT I was pleasantly surprised to find a menu with lots of vegan options!! (Delicious too). The staff was extremely helpful and lovely! The atmosphere was wonderful AND to top it off, I was actually WARM!

Very disappointed. Only toasties and coffee in paper/plastic cups on offer. Didn't bother stopping. Much better menu few yards up next place up by Bottle Alley

I write this from my bed where I have food poisoning.I cannot say definitely Goat Ledge BUT this was the only time for 3 days we did not eat exactly the same meal and it came on pretty much immediately. My friend actually went in today but the denials poured out before she could finish what she was saying. Given the brush off totally by a young man . This place started well a few years ago, but as St Leonards became more trendy it went downhill fast. Food is massively overpriced and pretty poor. Cocktails seem pre mixed and are really weak. Goat ledge is now off our list of eateries/drinkeries; there are so many fab around now.. you can do much much better. There are other places on the beach too.

Such a wonderful and friendly place with a great selection of hot chocolates.

It's a reasonably nice little place, but what they sell is pretty average, like everywhere else it's overpriced. What ruins this place is the music.. the music is bloody awful, especially the live stuff they have there. Its not too bad when there's a DJ but when their isn't, Ear plugs or headphones will improve the experience of having an overpriced coffee in a picturesque setting.

Great place on the beach at St Leonards. Wrap up warm if you are going in Autumn and winter!

Had a breakfast bap and coffeeso nothing fantastic. Cost a whopping 24 quid!!!!! Loved the vibe and the service though so don't mind too much.

If your going to hastings this is a must pop in place absolutely fantastic, food ,drink,atmosphere, staff,believe me you can't go wrong calling in here ,sit back relax take in the veiws ,meet local people 100% pleasurable experience these need to be on every beach front

Great location, right on beach. Ordered 2 cocktails. Not strong at all, hardly any alcohol even though it was supposed to be a spiced rum drink. More like a smoothie and mocktail tbh and quite expensive.

It’s a Hastings institution. Fresh fish baps with all the trimmings, using local produce. I literally have been there and bought the tshirt as I love it so much.

This place is fantastic, after having to leave another venue this morning due to poor service and cold food,coming here was the best decision we made. The staff were friendly prompt, and the food was amazing . We will definitely be back.

This is such an iconic spot in St Leonards that all our friends who know the town recommended it. It's wonderful - such friendly staff, great drinks and yummy food...and a fantastic location right on the beach front. Highly recommend.

Open all day, v casual and tasty food. Colourful seats, vibey and little cabins you can book if it’s a bit windy. Feels very food truck/Aussie/Bali Super popular any time of day in the summer.

Being a Hastings resident and passing this place over the years. I thought i would pop in for a beer and have a look. Firstly the cost i had a pint of large and a glass of white wine. Wait for it £15.50 are they having a laugh. And to make things worse my pint was nearly undrinkable the only reason i persevered was it cost so much only manage half of it but ended up tipping in a plant pot. When you look around the whole thing is a sham and a greedy business for tourists which leads to giving Hasting St Leonards a bad reputation a poor example for us locals. Never go back there again

It is a very nice place in what you would call a premium location. There's a lot of different "areas" to sit, but I can get VERY busy on a nice day so be prepared to don't have a table for a while. You can book some of the huts in advance and (apparently) you can't make a same day booking so if one is available you are free to take it. We had a "gentleman" kick us out from one as he claimed he had just made a booking but the staff later told us this was not possible. We didn't want to create a situation so we just sat somewhere else. Service is nice and friendly, but can be slow when there's too much demand. Beer was nice but we would have preferred some "non hipster" choice of lager. Overall very nice and we will very probably be back.

Stopped here for breakfast this morning. The vegan bap, amazing apparently. The bacon and egg bap, too die for. Us two nice teas as well. The bar is novel, the seating comfy , the surroundings colourful. Dog friendly. Fantastic views. We shall return.

My wife and I have been meaning to try this joint for ages , today unplanned we managed to visit. I was blown away by the created atmosphere, amazing vibe with great selection of music , amazed by the organised way to order and collect food. I thought I was in far off Caribbean, only live in Bexhill 🙏

Nice location but the bread for the sandwiches is very poor quality and tasteless and they don't toast it. The decaf coffee is underwhelming. Like the idea of the fish based sandwich menu though.

Has a super time relaxing on the beach with my lovely latte have often looked as I walked past but today decided to stop and try the goat ledge a try happy I did And I will be back for sure....

Wow. I don't know what else to say! Goat Ledge was recommended to us and we ended up visiting every day of our stay in St Leonards. I can see why it's so popular. Staff were super friendly and there's a really relaxed vibe about the place. Don't let that fool you though, the service is like a well oiled machine. We had breakfast baps there and pastries (not on the same visit!) And the food quality was excellent. I can vouch for the local beer and the freshly squeezed orange juice. Oh, and the espresso was great too - they serve a double as a standard measure. After a 4 night break in St Leonards we felt like part of the Goat Ledge family when we left. Will define visit again when we're in the area - probably every day I suspect.

I've been to the Goat Ledge many times, but haven't been since last Summer and then decided to visit over the Easter Weekend with my parents for a treat. Unfortunately was very disappointed. Ordered 3 coffees which were cold when I collected them, assumed they'd be ready with food but had been left waiting on the side luke warm because noone mentioned we needed to collect them beforehand. Pretty sure the bread buns used to be toasted but were instead cold and soggy. No lettuce in two of the baps despite the menu saying it came with it. This is obviously a very popular place but feels like it's now more concerned with churning out orders as opposed to the quality of the food it's serving.

Great place. Breakfast rolls pretty good but a bit disappointed that the bacon in mine was sringy and underdone, not cooked long enough to start rendering the fat. Good coffee and nice staff.

A lovely little café but in less than salubrious surroundings.... The infamous and aptly named Warrior Square is just behind this café...

Lovely spot with yummy food. More than once have had longer than predicted wait time on food but we do love to stop by for at least a hot beverage ☕️

First the positive, beautiful location and good menu selection. Great for kids. Loses a star as some bits seem overpriced and service is quite slow.

Great place to stop along the seafront between Hastings and St. Leonard's for a coffee or beer. The Goat Ledge Pale Ale is good, and not too heavy if you are still mid-walk. You can also reserve mini-cabins on the front which offer a bit of shelter if the weather is not so great. Food also served....tried the Katsu chips which were good and spicy!

Love this place, stumbled upon this area whilst on holiday in st Leonards. Right on the seafront, atmosphere is amazing, food is great and staff are lovely, the Service is quick too. Sit outside and watch the world go by, you won't find a better place to relax and take in the scenery!

I am one of those people that avoids going to a place if everyone bangs on about it, therefore it's taken me a moment to get to eating at Goat Ledge. I settled on a bacon bap, it was 'ok', but the 'sunrise' (a roll) stole the show. Good if you can get a table. Sizable queues at busy periods.

Although a popular place I found it far too expensive to eat and the long queue made me head elsewhere

Love Goat Ledge. Such a lovely place for a drink, or bap. My only wish is they did an all day breakfast or a meat based bap in the afternoon early evening, as it is just fish or vegetarian.

So lovely, looking out from a warm beach hut, sipping tea. The staff were lovely when I knocked my tea over, providing first aid and another cup of tea 😁

Only a few minutes from where I live. Very quirky and welcoming. Good food and beer. As always, 4* as there is always room for something to be improved on. I will visit again though. I can imagine this place is extremely popular in the warmer months.

Beautiful cafe along the seafront, with little huts outside and a real cozy, family atmosphere. I only popped in for a coffee, but staff were very attentive and the decor is just so cute.

Great little place to hang out. It's very cosy with a toasty atmosphere. The food is good and filling. I loved the down home feeling.

Booked at hut now it's getting colder. Very cosy. Mulled wine and mince pie would be nice but not on menu yet.

Really fun and quirky setting on the beach. You can book painted huts to have a cosy snack or sit in a deckchair or bench on the promenade and pebbles. Hot and cold drinks, local fish sandwiches, pastries and cakes all very tasty are served from the hatch where you order and pay.

Very nice food and the shacks are wonderful to sit in and watch the sea. Reservation for shacks recommended.

Beautiful sunny day and perfect to sit and enjoy the sea views. We had hot drinks and delicious cakes, flapjack and cherry Bakewell slice which was very tasty and moist.

Stopped for coffee after a meeting in the local area, only had coffee and sat out in autumn sunshine. From my experience not bad coffee and great location to watch the world go by with gets views of the English Channel. Hope to have the opportunity to try the food.
