Adorable little shop, friendly service and delicious ice cream!

Purchased takeaway cakes, a walnut coffee & a chocolate sponge raspberry, nice texture but both virtually tasteless, for £7 each I'd expect more flavour, we've paid that price for far better quality from other establishments.

Came across this lovely place while on the first day of a short break in Lincoln. We had the bus off latte and the clotted cream fudge cookie millionaires cake. Beautifully decorated cafe, lovely friendly staff and delicious cake.

Excellent find, a tearoom that is open when you want tea (4pm on Sunday). Really friendly, accommodating staff. Delicious (extremely sugary) dessert slices. Beautiful decor, particularly suiting our mainly female party.

Best coffee my wife has ever had, she said. I had herbal tea which was lovely also.

Always love a visit to Cafe Gelato. My daughter has several allergies, but the staff are so kind and helpful always helping me ensure she will be safe. Amazing ice-cream, gorgeous cakes and great coffee. The little seating area out the back is a lovely place to sit and enjoy your coffee and cake.

Amazing hot drinks and cakes to die for!

I chose the vegan biscoff and oreo pie and I can safely say it is the best cake I've ever had. It's my first visit but most definitely won't be my last. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Lovely little cafe. The decorations are so cute. It's a little pricey however it's what you'd expect from a small business so don't mind paying that bit extra. I got a cookie pie and hot snores hot chocolate. They were both presented beautifully and looked very appealing. However I did find that the cookie pie filling tasted like it had been left out a while so it wasnt as enjoyable -- note I did go on a Sunday. So it might just be that it was sat out a while. The hot chocolate was lovely if not a little sweet. Was overall a nice expirence ans the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

We picked up some slices of cake which are nicely displayed in the window and they were amazing. We decided on a slice each and I'm glad we took it out with us as it took me 3 sittings to finish it, it was that big and filling. Would definitely recommend, haven't tried cake this good in a long time if not ever

The shop is very sweet, the staff are friendly, but the cakes are way to big for one and could do with alittle less ingredients in each sometimes less is more(alittle sickly). But will return to try the icecream.

Such a groovy little cafe. Lots of fantastic home made cakes and snacks. The drinks are brilliant also. Wide range of ice cream available also.

Cookie bars looked amazing, easily shared but were really expensive. I tried the Sour Cherry ice cream cone which was very nice at £3. The girls serving were very friendly too.

I was recommended a visit by my brother. We brought an ice cream each, quite a few varieties to choose from, tasty. We also brought a bueno cookie bar which was really good! It was quite hefty after eating the ice creams so we had some the next day, and the next. Recommend going for a treat, but it is quite expensive

Wow! Amazing cookie bars and so many to choose from. I’m so glad we can across this place. The gelato looked 👌🏻 too, so will be sure to go back and try that next time. Very polite friendly staff member who served us.

Wow! Had the Jammie Dodger stuffed cookie! Well, had half of it at a time if that, so much of it and tastes amazing. Put it in the microwave and it's just like having a warm cookie dough. Defintely get yourself there and have one! Ladies in the shop are lovely too!🙂

Everybody needs to try the cakes. You will not regret it. We are now regular visitors and my in-laws beg me to take them when they visit. The cookie bricks are incredible and the cakes are divine!!!!

Great prices for great quality and big portions. Super lovely and attentive staff. Would be five stars if the bathroom and stairs was a little fixed up but this wouldn't put me off returning. Great spot highly recommend x

Really friendly staff, lovely people and sweet decor. Very clean and a lot of care went into making the place look nice - would recommend for when you are tired and need a quiet moment, or fancy a cosy place to get a drink and snack. The food is good value - mostly cakes and sweets, and hot and cold drinks were good. I unfortunately could not eat my entire ice cream as it was huge! Great value for the money, and the hot chocolate was also massive. We were offered takeaway boxes for our food which really helped.

Loved it. Walking back from the Christmas Market, found a little jem. If you love cake, like I love cake, oh oh oh what a place. Little seating cafe area, great greeting, happy staff. Definitely going back.

Stopped in at Cafe Gelato after catching sight of their giant macarons in the shop window. It was definitely worth the trek up Steep Hill. I chose white chocolate and honey and Ferrero Rocher. We didn't eat in but the decor was sweet. Very friendly staff too.

Love this little place, they’ve always been super welcoming to me, my friends and my little baby and his pram. The staff are always super helpful, cakes are AMAZING, coffee is fab, and they have some great unique lattes, like the lavender and honey one. I try and stop by when I can whenever I’m in the Lincoln. The only downside is there isn’t a tonne of seating so can sometimes be a bit difficult to find a seat, but we’ve always managed to generally 🖤

Nice coffee although expensive. The prices in the window should stipulate the cost of the cake to eat in or takeaway as we didn't know there was a £1 difference until we paid.

Recently ordered two boxes of cookie bricks - Lucie was super responsive to messages,answered any questions straight away and added a really personal touch to the ordering service. Even messaged me to check that the gift boxes had been received!😊 Also I’ve received products from Cafe Gelato as gifts and can say that they’re a taste sensation,never been disappointed

This was my1st visit,I was passing by on my way for a trip walking up steep hill & noticed a small queue outside this shop which is an indication something is worth waiting for with folk coming out with what appeared to be lovely ice-cream , some having double scoops stacked on their waffle cones.On my return back down the hill,I joined in line & noticed the window display shelving showing very tempting inventive cakes .Once inside there wasn't much room as the group of 3 infront being served were blocking the view of the different ice-cream flavours on offer .The lady behind the counter was busy providing very pleasant service on her own by serving the chosen delights ,then having to switch counters across to take payment which can only be made by card, You only find this out at this point,as there's a small label sign taped on the counter top next to the tap card machine. In the end I did quickly choose Raspberry Ripple in a tub & my wife went for Cherry Bakewell also in a tub,priced at £2.85p each .Once outside I felt it wasn't a great serving system for the lady going from one counter to another, when she could of done with some staff assistance especially with it being a red hot day on a busy Saturday afternoon. As for the ice cream ,it was nice but I couldn't taste any raspberry, my wife's opinion was its OK but wouldn't have another as she could taste almonds but no cherry flavour. Having finished I then couldn't see a litter bin outside the shop so I ended carrying the empty tub cartons with me until I found a wheelie bin down a side alley way.I asked myself would I return back again in the future? ...Maybe to try a cake but not for a ice-cream .

This is my favorite place to go in Lincoln they have the most amazing cakes and Macaroons! They have the best drinks selection too and the gelato is perfect! The staff make you feel so welcome as well and are so helpful. I take my family here all the time it’s our go to for treats! Oh and the insta worthy decorations. Honestly can’t fault the place.

Easily the best selection of ice cream in Lincoln! You will always find something new inside their colourful tubs, from refreshing sorbets all the way over to wonderfully chunky and creamy milk ice creams peppered with fruit, cookie dough or cake. There truly is something there for everyone, and I rarely leave their beautifully decorated space with the same combination of flavours twice - it's impossible to choose when everything tastes so delicious. Aside from the always friendly service and smiling faces, you'll find some of the most unique cakes of Lincoln's High Street here as well! Their cabinets are always filled with a selection of indulgent cake or cookie slabs and more traditional bakes that make it hard to go for just one, but if you'd like a recommendation, you can never, ever go wrong with their carrot cakes. They're so moist and flavourful you wouldn't believe it! Good thing I know I don't have to choose one, because missing out on their cookie pies would be a crime. ;) What more is there to say? There's never been a time I haven't left this little café with a smile, and I'll never stop being curious about what other ideas their creative bakers might come up with next. Thank you so much for making my weekends brighter!

Best cake I've ever had!! Carrot cake is my all time favourite and the white chocolate and pistachio carrot cake from here is by far the best I've ever tasted! As a chocolate lover too, I very much enjoyed the kinder brownie cookie pie. Gorgeous shop 😍 staff are super friendly and welcoming too, will definitely be back here for my cake fix 🍰🍪

My favourite cafe in Lincoln! There’s always such an amazing selection of delicious cakes and cookie bricks, delicious ice cream flavours, and a variety of cold and hot drinks. Brilliant cafe, and the staff are so lovely! Highly recommend!

Wow... Amazing cake and great value for money. They are sooo big it has to be shared 😂 have the luxury of my daughter attending Lincoln Uni so I will miss this when she leaves. Hopefully will return for my cake fix.

I am usually so fussy with cakes. I have had soo many store-bought cakes and purchased desserts in restaurants that I always regret. I have had about 5 cakes so far from here and the taste is just insane. You can tell they are hand made with love and the quality is fantastic. Great, big slices for the price and to top it off, served by the brightest staff. One of my favourite spots in Lincoln. Do not miss this independent gem ✨️

Great ice cream and wonderful staff

Ice-cream was refreshing but a bit too sweet for my liking. Cakes look amazing on display, unfortunately the black forest gataeu was very dry even at room temperature as advised. Maybe it's just a bad batch?! So disappointed. Would be nice to dine in but they only offer takeaways now.

Does all look great in the shop, but the double chocolate ice cream was a bit naff. Was very icey with lots of ice crystals and a bland taste. my son had the Oreo flavour and that was sooo much better qaulity.

I had got a new item on the menu. It was a kinder brownie cookie thing It was really really good quality and tasted amazing and so I will be going back. The shop was very clean and the staff were very friendly so I would recommend popping in. ( I will edit my review when I go back to have a better look at the dine in service and menu in more depth)

Started off with the mango chutney and cheddar panini, which was amazing and a really nice cup of tea. Then had a bubblegum ice cream in a waffle cone which was incredible. Really nice staff. Worth the visit.

Amazing ice cream!!😍 we called for an ice cream when we visited Lincoln last month when we were staying at Tatershall Lakes! Vanilla and White Chocolate was so tasty! The cakes looked really good 😍 Will definitely call again on our next visit to Lincoln next Month, I believe you can sit in so if we can next time we will a nice little find with friendly staff 😊

What a beautiful little cafe, full of delicious homemade cakes and goodies. Drinks to die for and gelato better then some I had in Rome. Worth the walk up the bank.

Nipped in here on Thursday as I just couldn’t walk past the windows, they looked so good! So glad I did as the brownie slabs are quite honestly the best I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to take my little girl back for a treat 💗 Looks like a new cafe area coming soon too ✨

Could not resist going in here after walking past these windows and so glad we did!! Got the Vegan Salted caramel, peanut butter, brownie cookie dough and the red velvet one and they’re probably the nicest sweet treats I’ve ever tasted! Couldn’t recommend this place more and the lady who served us was so lovely and friendly! They do really good coffee too!

Never fail to produce some incredible treats, the coffee is amazing the range of choice is crazy and the gelato is superb. Cannot recommend this place enough if you are ever in Lincoln.

First time I visited and I was so impressed. Clean and fantastically decked out. Whilst this time it was for coffee only but will be back in the near future to sample the wide range of food on the menu. Special mention for Tina, so friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

Lovely cake in a beautiful setting

Stopped by after going to the Christmas market as the yummy treats in the window caught my eye. The staff were really nice and the treats tasted great.

Thank you to the lovely kind staff who let my 5 year old daughter use the toilet, we purchased ice cream, hot chocolates and carrot cake, all of which were divine! Lovely clean and decorative place to eat, would definitely recommend.

Stopped here and had nutella cake and fully loaded brownie with coffee, they were excellent, rated the cake 10 out of 10. Lovely coffee too. Lots of other highly choclatety cakes to choose from, if you love sweet things this would be an ideal place to stop off and try something.

We saw this cafe in the way up the hill to the Cathedral and bought ice-cream (which was really nice) and bought a cake bar (Toffee and apple) to take away. This cake bar was absolutely wonderful. Not cake as such (which was great because I am not a fan of real cake) but more like a solid brick of cookie dough top and bottom with an apple, toffee and creamy filling. All three of us ate some when we got home but there was still enough for a good helping the next day. Awesome, would definitely buy the cake bars again. Flavours were wonderful.

Tastefully decorated, LOVELY staff (honestly, so warm and welcoming) and my goodness, the cookie bricks and milkshakes are UNREAL. We walked past and couldn't help but stop and get some of the cakes. They were only doing takeaway, but we grabbed a Cooke Brick, and my word was it delicious! Recommended!

Amazing little coffee and treat shop at the beginning of Steep Hill. They have a large range of drinks and a great array of sweet treats that are beautifully presented in the window. The staff are super kind and haven't gotten my order wrong ever. The only thing that would make it better was if it was open 24/7!

My sister and I love coming here, they're so lovely and even remember our order! They offer alternative milks and even a vegan whip cream which is good to get if you're dairy sensitive. This coffee is probably the best I've ever had, and the range of cakes and sweet snacks they have is mind-blowing. We'll definitely have to keep on coming here!

Amazing ice cream, eyed up the cakes on the way up to the cathedral and decided to grab an ice cream on the way back down. Ice cream was amazing lots of choice and a very lovely and patient lady served us...thank you. Also got a couple of cakes to take back with us and they are gorgeous. Defintely worth the treat. Would recommend trying.

A late Sunday craving well satisfied! I had two large scoops of the coffee and coconut flavours while my sister had Oreo and biscoff flavours, which were absolutely divine. Will definitely be visiting again!

Amazing cakes, they also do gluten free options!!! We stumbled upon this cafe on our way to the cathedral and we are so glad we did!!! My boyfriend is gluten free and said the flapjack was to die for!!! It has a chocolate layer and my kinder bueno Brooke with fondant icing was out of this world it was honestly unlike anything I’ve ever had! We will definitely be coming back! The packaging and service was very lovely too and it made the end to the day even more perfect ! Thank you!!!

I wanted to check this place out for a while after seeing their Instagram page and reading about it in a blog - when I visited the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. At first, I was thinking the prices may have been slightly expensive, but once I tried my vegan Oreo brookie, I would say it's definitely worth the price. I've been to other places who charge a lot of some desserts and they are nothing special, but this place is totally worth it! I'd definitely be coming back in the future, but I'd love to see more vegan options potentially. I'm not sure if there are more available once the shop fully opens after restrictions are lifted, but I saw there were vegan ice cream options, but couldn't see anymore vegan cakes etc, so having a few more options would be the only criticism I could pick out.
