Used mainly by people going to see the station museum I imagine, it serves a variety of tes, cakes, light meals. We were made most welcome and would be a good place to take a break in the otherwise long drive between Mallaig an£ Fort William.

Fortrose Cafe

15/03/2019: We had a great lunch at Fortrose. Most of us had breakfast for lunch. Any restaurant that has all day breakfast is a definite plus for me. They had a good kids menu. Specifically, I had the scrambled eggs on toast. The toast pieces were enormous and the eggs were perfect. This was our second visit and I'd definitely go back, again
26/02/2019: I first visited here years ago when it had first opened and wasn’t impressed. Today, my husband and I enjoyed one of the best scones that we have had in ages. We both had Americano coffees, with hot milk on the side, along with a Coconut & Cherry scone. Delicious .

The cafe at the Carnegie Hall

18/03/2019: We had left our hotel in Inverness without having breakfast, having planned a brunch elsewhere but it was closed on a Monday. We ended up deciding to try to see what was around as we explored the coast above Black Isle. It was a beautiful day and we were very lucky that the sign to Carnegie Hall cafe caught our eye.
22/04/2019: Visited Portmahomack with friends and decided to pop in here for lunch. Lovely café with nice décor and very welcoming atmosphere, and a nice selection of home made crafts for sale. All the tables were full when we arrived but the staff asked us wait for a couple of minutes and they quickly cleared a table and re-arranged an empty table to make room for us. Staff were all very friendly and chatty and quickly brought a menu and then took our order. Great range of lunch items and specials and a lovely selection of cakes. We ordered panninis , which were really tasty and came with a beautiful salad. What really impressed us was the afternoon tea that we saw being served. A lovely range of sandwiches, and home made cakes all served on pretty china. It was a bargain at £9.95 and we all decided that we are going to come back again soon to try it out . You need to order 24hrs in advance though. Highly recommend popping into this lovely friendly café when you are next visiting the East coast
