We were kindly invited to try their Sunday lunch. It did not disappoint! It was off the charts. Every mouthful brought sounds of ‘ooos and ars’ - if you haven’t tried it then please do. Every dish was quite spectacular And every element on the plate was a masterpiece ….. An exceptional Sunday Roast and reasonably priced. You simply must do a Sunday here!

I visited the Gingerman on new years eve with my partner and received one of the best - if not the best - dining experiences of our lives. We ordered a la carte and were treated to various incredibly tasty canapes and house bread which was divine. The Roast Pheasant with brussels was seasonal and spectacular and my vegans partner’s artichoke dish was nothing short of delicious. We finished with a sorbet with blueberries and compote which was a perfectly light and refreshing way to end a truly incredible meal. The chefs here are clearly incredibly talented and have a virtuoso’s understanding of flavours, textures and plating. The FOH were friendly, knowledgeable and professional and I will remember my experience for a long time to come and certainly be back every time I visit Brighton from here on. The only thing I could mention that would be even close to a criticism would be to suggest a broader array of non-alcoholic beers but that is really neither here nor there and The Gingerman is in every way, a spectacular establishment, well run and exceptionally well executed dining experience. Classic, Delicious and a Must-Visit.

A good selection of dishes in the tasting menu. In my opinion the smoked mashed potato was over smoked, verging on the acrid. That was the only disappointing part of an otherwise good meal. This will not stop another visit to an innovative restaurant.

Was a small but perfectly laid out restaurant. The service and staff were amazing. We opted for the taster menu with the wine to enhance the experience. This really did not disappoint as each dish surpassed the expectations of the last. Well worth the price tag for the sublime experience. My compliments to the chefs and front room staff. Ps the cocktails where also really good and worth a go.

I picked this restaurant from reading the reviews and us wanting a taster menu. Oh my goodness it didn’t disappoint! Every single course was outstanding. They accommodated my gluten intolerance so well and just made minor adjustments, all of which were delicious. The wine pairing worked so well with each course. We weren’t rushed and the timings between each course was perfect. If you are in Brighton and looking for that special place, this is it!

The best restaurant in Brighton

For the second consecutive year, my wife and I have returned here for a celebration meal. The tasting menu and paired wines are excellent and a real exploration of flavours and textures. As with any tasting menu at a reputable establishment, it's not necessarily cheap, but in my mind, a worthy treat. Food, presentation, and service, all excellent! Well done guys 👏.

A Brighton institution - and for good reason Never a bad meal here in terms of food, service, and atmosphere We came for lunch and had the place to ourselves, which is a travesty as this is one of THE best places to eat in Brighton/Hove Always love coming here, never seem to come frequently enough though! Not cheap, but worth every penny!

We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the evening was perfect! A cute, no over crowded venue who's staff are friendly as well as extremely knowledgeable about everything from the wine regions to where the carrots were grown! The owner was so accommodating too as my husband has a fish intolerance and nothing was too much trouble, he suggested alternatives and was very helpful. The food was out of this world!! We went for the tasting menu with the wine pairing and what a treat for the taste buds! The flavours and textures were incredible and like nothing we had tasted before. The wines were perfect (of course) and the good thing was that they didn't rush the dishes out so you were able to take your time and relax between courses. This restaurant is run by people who love and are passionate about food but who are also warm and personable which created the perfect balance of a fine dining experience with heart. I would 100% recommend anybody celebrating a special occasion to come here and treat themselves.

This is the second time I have had lunch here when in Brighton Good wine list including a good local sparkling and well made innovative cocktails. All our food choices were excellent and they make their own bread which is very good with the onion butter. Great service with each course explained and choices modified for one of our part who is sensitive to lactose and yeast.

Well yes......this is food worth making a detour for. Tucked away off the beaten track, seek it out.

I had the tasting menu with the accompanying flight of wine for dinner this week. Having eaten at several excellent restaurants, I can honestly say that this was a Michelin star experience at a fraction of the price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

My wife and I ate here late last year and we cam away feeling a bit disappointed. We have eaten here many times but felt that something was missing. However, we were in Brighton last Saturday and we ate there again with our friends. I am happy to report that the world is back on its axis and all is well again. We had the tasting menu and it was truly delicious. Cannot wait to go back again.

Recently had a delicious meal with friends at " The Gingerman in Brighton" celebrating the restaurants 25th anniversary. The front of house was extremely helpful. Good atmosphere. Cant wait to go back!

We had an excellent meal here with colleagues on Friday. We picked a variety of dishes - fish , meat and vegetarian and all were good. Very friendly service - would thoroughly recommend

We went to the restaurant last Friday night, 12th May. We selected the tasting menu and simply loved it. Each dish was innovative and thoroughly delicious. We thought that the portions were just the right size, and that there was ample food. We have just been to London the past few weeks and as a comparison, we thought it was excellent value for money for the quality of the food and ingredients. The two women serving us were fantastic. So friendly and knowledgable of both the menu and the wine list. They added to our overall great experience. HIghly recommended

Really lovely food and wonderful service. It is quite expensive and portions are not that big but we all had a really nice evening. The lady looking after us was so professional, the atmosphere was relaxing, the food very tasty and so beautifully presented. Would recommend for a special occasion.

We never can stop at Brighton and not visit the Gingerman. We got to sit by the window which is next to the curtain and the front door which was nice as it was a little warm inside the restaurant. Service was great, it was fully booked and we had two different staff serving us, while one was very chatty and bubbly the other was more serious and a little abrupt. This wasn’t an issue though as they were still friendly. The amuse bouche was probably some of the best I have had in a long time, so much flavour in one mouthful. We enjoyed both starters of Halibut and my partner had Asparagus. Our mains were Lamb and I had the Beef which was lovely however, while most of the Beef was melt in the mouth there were small parts that was tough and the knife given struggled to cut through the fat. We both throughly enjoyed the Chocolate dessert. It’s worth posting that the A La Carte menu differed on the website to the menu we had on the evening. There was a small group of people who were very loud that a neighbouring table made a comment. No fault of the restaurant but on this occasion they were a little loud. We will return again. A real local gem.

Very disappointed. The food was delicious but very very small portions and very expensive for what you get. Customers of this restaurant before the lockdown - and their other branches. Although quite expensive then my husband and I loved it. The outside and inside now look run down and scruffy. £50 each for lunch for two tiny courses + 12% service. Although on the day we dined it was 25% off. Sadly we won’t be going back.

Was really looking forward to eating here, however, I was left very disappointed. The food was beautifully presented but completly lacked any flavour. Considering we paid £150 I would expect for that price, something exceptional. Definitely won't be returning .

Sunday lunch mixed party of carnivores and vegans. Superb roast beef superb vegan roast superb veg. Wines only so so but excellent beers.

Excellent food and lovely dining experience but feels a little wrong to charge the same price for the vegetarian tasting menu as the regular tasting menu. Overall it just felt a little overpriced. The wine pairing was good value for money.

Very expensive for what it is. Found some plastic in our tuna (looks like they wrap it up before serving). We did not get an apology from the Chef, which would not have been too much to ask, but we never get any. Definetely not very impress by this place, not going back.

Could have been a 5 star review. The restaurant looks great; small but smart, but the chefs often came out and chatted with the front of house staff at the bar. Not completely dressed in chef's attire, this marred the image of the restaurant. The food was great and the entrées were a lovely touch, but some of the meats were a little tough and some of the freshly made crackers that came with the cheese board were too thick, meaning that they were too hard to bite into. Had these and a couple of other niggly issues been absent, then this would have definitely been a 5 star review. I will most likely be returning as the food was great.

Between the service and the chef accommodating my vegan friend, this restaurant was magnificent. Each plate was gorgeous and featured in-season vegetables. I highly recommend this place for special occasions or just a lovely lunch in Brighton.

Parfait ! Le mot est lâché, je ne mets que très rarement des 5 étoiles mais celui ci les mérite très largement. Le cadre est intimiste, le service est impeccable, attentionné mais pas trop présent. Au niveau des mets, aucune fausse note: un amuse bouche surprenant, du bon pain, une belle découverte en entrée (pea mousse), un agneau parfaitement cuit avec un accompagnement extrêmement bien équilibré et pour finir un super dessert (peach). J'en profite pour ajouter que, pour une fois au Royaume-Uni, nous n'avons pas été déçu par le vin français (brouilly). Nous venions fêté quelque chose, nous repartons ravis !

We had been looking forward to coming to The Gingerman as it has such a good reputation however every course of our 3-course Sunday menu was bad. Caramelised onion ravioli didn’t have any flavour of onions. Roast pork was tough with leathery hairy crackling, no apple sauce as they had run out and the potatoes were so hard they kept flying off everyones plates. Dessert was served with over whipped curdled cream. It must have been a very bad day in the kitchen. Despite that the wine and service was good, but for £70 a head I was very disappointed.

£50 for a 3-course Sunday roast was super bad value for money. You would expect something extraordinary from this restaurant, instead, it was below average. The pork belly had a very unpleasant smell.

Came to The Gingerman because we were interested in the micro seasonal concept. Everything fresh, most of the ingredients very local and we really felt like that came out in the dishes. I was also happy to be able to demonstrate to my Portuguese wife what really great British food can be, and so many of the dishes had a British culinary theme to them, a great touch. Wine pairings were great, staff were extremely kind and friendly and felt it was great value for what we had, too. A real experience. Recommended.

Wonderful meal, and quite the experience to boot. We did the tasting menu, and it was a blast. Pro tip, if you add the cheese platter, you could likely share each between two people. It's the last course and at least 5 good bits of cheese.

Considering the reviews and paying £200+ for two for lunch was expecting the best but left underwhelmed. Food was ok but lacked on overall flavour, the cod dish was so salty could not taste anything else (have had better tasting food from gusto). Dishes looked great but seems more time was spent on presentation than flavour. If your going to spend this much you are better off going somewhere like etch or 64 degrees. Such a shame as had high hopes. Dessert was good and service excellent but put a downer on a birthday celebration.

Friendly welcome, but with no ventilation whatsoever, not even a little crack of fresh air, we decided to forfeit our reservation to avoid breathing into the uncirculated air in this packed tiny restaurant. Sad as we came for our anniversary dinner and ended up wandering around in the cold rain looking for somewhere suitable. Would have stayed if there were at least a modicum of ventilation.
