Gills vintage tea room in North Lincolnshire

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea - mine being a sweet one as in more cake based and my friends enjoyed a savoury one which included quiche, pork pie etc. Both were wonderfully presented and plentiful (doggy bags happily provided - as none of us could eat all that was provided) and our host "Dec" (I think) was incredibly friendly and welcoming and on our visit he was handing out home made toffee apples for free!

Fantastic place for afternoon tea an much more delicious food. Very good prices friendly staff. Lovely tea room to eat at. Also delivery of cakes are amazing thank you 😊

The jacket was beautiful and salad was fresh and the lemon cake was to die for will definitely be coming again 😋

After booking an afternoon tea at 1.30pm for my Mums 90th Birthday and leaving my name and contact details, the shutters were down when we arrived at 1.20pm, no note on the shutter to say why and no one contacted me to apologise. I called twice, still no one called me. A call to say they were shut and why, was all it would have taken. Thank goodness for Brigg Garden Centre being so welcoming at the last minute. I will never eat at Gills now, despite hearing good things.

Me and my grandaughter come here frequently as our little treat, the place is lovely , friendly and unique with its own personality ,as has the young girl who serves and greets (owner?) She works exceptionally hard and is always smiling , the food is extremely fresh and tasty , service is quick and efficient with a smile 5 well deserved stars all the time

After visiting several times for afternoon tea, having a wonderful time and enjoying everything on my plate, especially the cakes, I decided to order a whole cake for my birthday. The bakewell cake is so good. The best cake I’ve ever had. If you’re a fan of cherry bakewell you’ve got to try this!

After my wife had ordered the delivered afternoon tea for our families during lockdown and received great feedback we thought we would try it ourselves. The great reviews are well deserved and we all enjoyed it with my daughter loving her Childs afternoon tea. My advice if you go is to order the sweet afternoon tea over the savoury, both are good but i think the sweet one is a better spread.

We have been to Gill's for afternoon tea a few times, and we return because it is always a pleasure. The food is well presented and super-tasty, and the service is friendly and efficient. The tables are well-spaced as well, so you have plenty of room around you. For our gang, the Malteaser cheesecake (when it's available) is probably the top pick!

Ordered 2 savoury afternoon teas and one of the sweet treats. Very pleased with what we received, soft delicious cakes and perfectly baked scones. Very happy with the quiche, sausage rolls, pork pie and scotch egg on the savoury something different from the usual sweet treats and absolutely delicious. Not to forget very welcoming staff and lovey environment, the decor is very on par with the place making it a excellent place to sit enjoying a treat on an afternoon. Regular costumers who have never been disappointed will definitely be returning again and again!

Took my nana for an afternoon tea treat, amazing tea room and great staff. Lovely atmosphere and beautiful decor. The afternoon tea is delicious and very filling, plenty of food and even had enough to take home in a doggy bag. We will definitely be regular customers. Thanks again!

Ordered 2 sweet afternoon teas which were delicious but my daughter ordered the savoury afternoon tea . To say we were disappointed is a understatement. It looked like someone had raided the left over contents of the fridge. 3 thin slices of a sandwich. A few cheese biscuits with lumps of cheese . The smallest square a square of sausage pie , a thin slice of quiche. A sliver of a scotch egg, a tiny pork pie , a few crisps and some chuckney. Some coleslaw . One cake and a very dry scone. Very weak pot of tea . We've been coming here for years but will not be returning. Sorry

Ordered tea for two to be delivered for my Mother on Mother’s Day. Easy process to order, delivery on time, great value but most important the tea was excellent. Sandwiches, scones, jam, cream, many sweet goodies and everything fresh baked. My parents enjoyed your fare and I thank you for all your effort, very much appreciated.

Fantastic Tea Room. Have visited a few times and always have an afternoon tea. I do keep meaning to try something else off the menu but always get drawn in by the afternoon teas.Love the savoury option which I have if I don't have my sweet tooth. It's a good balance as you still get a scone and slice of cake so don't feel like you have missed out on the cakes! Also love the sweet afternoon tea option.The staff are fabulous and a real credit to the place. They are so polite and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble for them.Pleased to have been able to get back and support this local business after lock down. Excellent Covid safety measures in place. Will be back visiting again soon.

Lunch with friends. Wonderful food, excellent selection of mains followed by cake as light as a feather. Lovely chatty staff. Good value and lovely surroundings. Highly recommended.

Good selection as always, varied choices and always worth the money when it arrives - had an afternoon tea and a savoury afternoon tea, both lovely. Fresh enough to eat the leftovers from the doggy bag the day after. Very polite staff and good cleaning regime.

We ordered an afternoon tea for 6 for delivery for our parents diamond wedding anniversary. Delivery was earlier than ordered but was well received. Everything was just delicious and went down a treat! In fact the parents could not get over it and were absolutely thrilled with the quality and how much food there was per person! They couldn't eat all of it and had the rest the following day. It was just perfect. Thank you to all the staff involved for making their day extra special ❤

My sister got an afternoon tea delivered. I won a nomination to nominate my sister for a lovely tea. It came within the time slot and they were very professional and lovely people. The food is gorgeous and it all came boxed up. Plenty of food for 2 people with plenty off cakes. Would recommend this place and there delivery. It made my sister feel very special and I was proud to nominate her! It made the lockdown bareable having this little treat! Thank you once again. 10/10 for this special treat. Once lockdown us over I will be visiting this place and take my sister there.

Had the pleasure of being able to place an order for Easter Afternoon Tea which was delivered to our doorstep due to the current lockdown. Despite the current situation I was able to place an order for myself and another family members household so we could enjoy a little Easter treat. Products were of the usual exemplary standard offered in the tearoom and delivered to our doorstep at our chosen slot time. Thankyou Gill’s for offering this service which cheered us all up and was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to dining in again when you are able to re-open.

Had a babyshower here on Sunday and we were very well looked after. Food was delicious and great value for money. Staff are lovely, patience and hardworking. Will definitely come again and recommend other to it.

My daughter and my 4 year old granddaughter called in on Wednesday lunchtime and had a delightful lunch. We had warm panninis which were absolutely delicious and my granddaughter had the child's afternoon tea which she was thrilled with,the staff were very friendly and the tiered plates and china cups made her feel very special and grown up. The menu is very reasonably priced and there is an excellent choice of lovely things. This is definitely going to be on our midweek treat list.

Gill’s husband delivered afternoon tea for 22, to our home to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. The food was as plentiful as it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed it. Just as good quality as it is in the coffee shop. Thanks Gill xx

Enjoyed afternoon tea and cakes and Sandwiches on my daughters birthday. It was quite old fashioned setting which added to the atmosphere. The staff were very helpful.

Visited for the first time after rave reviews and certainly was not disappointed. Comes across as quite noisy inside at the back, but the server was very quick and efficient despite being rushed off her feet. The afternoon tea is brilliant. Great quality and a great price with a lot to choose from and a lot of it. Well worth a visit!

We went on a Saturday lunch time and had booked. We had the offer of 2 adult afternoon tea's and then 2 children's afternoon tea's for £1. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were lovely and we were impressed with the quality of them. The food came out quickly. The place was very busy but the service was still good. The tables are set out to give people space, although the only slight downside is that i felt we struggled to get in and out without disturbing the table next to us. We will return for sure. Well recommended

Get together with the girls was lovely at Gills. Extensive menu to choose from and we all enjoyed our lunch. Service was efficient and friendly . Will return and recommend

Booked in here as I needed somewhere that would cater for vegans and had an awesome afternoon tea. Everything was yummy and the service is great! The rest of the party were very pleased and I think they might be new repeat customers!

Around thirty of us very much enjoyed our (evening) Afternoon Tea. The food was so tasty and plenty of it, sandwiches, cakes and scones to name but a few items on the individual three tiered serving platters. The service was excellent and I hope to visit again. Such a gem of a place which I can highly recommend. You might need to take some home as there is so much food. It was very much appreciated that the owner accommodated us after her usual opening hours.

I've visited this beautiful tea room since opening a few years ago.

Beautiful food, but we waited almost an hour to be served. There wasn’t a lot of room at the table for us all. We then had to rush to finish because the table was booked for another party of guests.

Had a great afternoon got dressed in our 1940s clothes and went for afternoon tea made to feel really welcome even had some pictures of us taken. Food was really nice and great value

I took my best mate here for a birthday treat. We had the 'afternoon tea' and it was fabulous, so much I couldn't eat it all. Very pleasant surroundings, good service and fab food. Just the ticket for an afternoon treat or special occasion, I'll definitely be back.

We entered the tea room and where shown to our seats by a young girl, she was very friendly. We had booked it for 2 o’clock by the time we got served to order the food it was nearly three o’clock. We had to prompt the waitress to take our order, but it came quite swiftly. The food was lovely and the service from then on was good. The atmosphere in the tea room was nicely quiet but a busy little tea room. Lovely. Mainly ladies in there in fact I don’t remember seeing a man in there lol a nice afternoon

On reflection the Tea Room seems to have reached its peak its gone from a 5 star to a star rating but still better than others in Scunthorpe

Having visited here for the first time with my daughter and granddaughter for afternoon tea on Mothers day it was absolutely perfect, there was a box of milk tray on the table for the mums too which was a lovely touch. The choice of freshly made sandwiches was excellent and the sweet treats were delicious, we would definitely visit again.

Visited the Tea Room once again, as usual excellent food, the attention to detail in getting the ambiance just right is good. Made my colleagues leaving party amazing. Would reccomend Gills Vintage Tea room every time.

I visited here for the first time for my grandma's 80th birthday. I was really excited as I'm gluten intolerant and usually I'm used to slim pickings and nothing very tasty as most people don't cater for gluten intolerant diets. So I had some sandwiches made and some cakes and they were a nice change. Bit over priced for a couple of little sandwiches and crisps but still a nice change for the occasion. So I didn't mind paying - unfortunately here's to my downside.. I'm a first time mum and new parent of a 2 month old and I haven't really been out much due to feeling anxious about going out with my baby. On having to change my baby my mum asked where I could change her and the girl behind the till stated " most people just use a blanket or on the floor of the toilet." Which my mum was fuming about.. they had provided a nappy bin in the toilet but no area to change her. My auntie had to resort to changing her for me on her knee. This is 2019 it shouldn't happen - not only for babies but for older children with possible disabilities that need changing. Theres no where to change. This put a bit of a sour taste in my mouth and kind of put me off coming back unfortunately.

Gill's tearoom is a delightful place to socialise with friends. We had arranged an out of hours get together for our craft group Gill's were fantastic! They had a great choice of afternoon teas on offer all with a very good selection on food. I had a vegan afternoon tea and I was very impressed with the selecton of things. The staff were really friendly and helpful, we shall definitely be going back.

The decor of the tea room is lovely. There is plenty of room between tables so you don,t feel on top of anyone plenty of room for wheel chairs or pushchairs. Food is presented nicely & is very good & fresh. Staff were very nice.

We visited in October after we received an afternoon tea gift voucher as a present. The tea room is very quaint and it was lovely to have choices as part of the afternoon tea menu. The food looked and tasted delicious.

Went to Gills Tea Room for an afternoon tea trip. We were not disappointed. They had an amazing new menu with plenty of options to choose from. The food was delicious and well presented. The manager made us feel welcome and all staff were friendly and helpful. We will not hesitate to go again soon.

I visited Gills with a few friends, we have been to Gills a number of times and was delighted to hear about the new menu. I opted for the savoury afternoon tea. It was delicious and a steal at £13! A few of my friends had opted for the pies of the new hot good menu and they smelt delicious. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the whole layout is amazing. We loved Gills before but love it even more now. Can't wait for my next visit

I have visited Gill’s tea room on a number of occasions, but today was my favourite visit, the tea room has undergone a refurb and has a new menu . I usually opt for the afternoon tea which is lovely and very filling, but today I decided to have the lamb and mint pie this was to die for it came with mash and veg , what I call proper home cooked food. The staff are lovely,very friendly and made us feel very welcome . Definitely worth a visit..

Booked an afternoon tea for 12, one didn't turn up, still made us pay. Everyone was given smoked salmon sandwiches but none of us were fans of smoked salmon so asked for an alternative but were refused, were told we should said we didn't like smoked salmon when we booked! We didn't expect smoked salmon but were told there was no alternative! So we only had 2 little sandwiches each

This charming tea room serves top quality, simple tasty food. Lunch options such as omelettes or quiche are excellent and afternoon tea is ridiculously good value.

We went Scunthorpe to visit a friend who lives there and stayed there for 2 or 3 nights. We were scared there’d be nothing to do in a small town but our friend had loads of stuff planned for us and one of them was having afternoon tea here. This place is so pretty the snacks and sandwiches were very good and the staff polite. We were so pleased with this.

We celebrated a colleagues new job with afternoon tea at lunch time. The greeting as we went in was very welcoming and accommodating and we were offered drinks as soon as we arrived whilst waiting for our other friends.

This Afternoon Tea Treat was a family outing for 6 ladies. We all ordered the Luxury Afternoon Treat and mostly each had a different piece of cake.

If you pre order when you book you can have an absolutely scrumptious vegan Afternoon Tea. I always go with non vegan friends or family and the comments are always the same.....Yours looks as good as mine - No wait, yours actually looks better!

Excellent value for money. Needed a doggy bag as I couldn't eat all the super selection. Have also had afternoon tea in Beverley and it wasn't a patch on Gill's

Went with a group of friends on a busy afternoon. I opted for the light afternoon tea which was lively and very filling, aswell as excellent at only £7.50 which included a pot of tea! Looking forward to my next visit.

My family and I visited twice in January. The afternoon tea was lovely but if you are vegetarian make sure you mention it as the quiche that comes with it is meat, as we picked our own vegetarian fillings we didn’t think to mention it, silly us, but the staff were lovely and just swapped it for a vegetarian slice instead. We would definitely visit again and have more yummy food. P.s the salads are awesome too!

Came here on a Monday and I had the luxury afternoon tea and my friend had the smaller version. The food was excellent you could tell it was all homemade. Would definitely recommend and shall be back again.

This visit was a gift from my dear friend. it was really warm and welcoming and fairly busy at 2pm. There were plenty of tables, most filled but we had booked our table prior to the visit. It was a good job we had as it became quite busy a bit later on. We both opted for the luxury afternoon tea, which was absolutely delicious, and we both went home with a "doggy bag" as there was so much on the platter.The choice, quality and value were exceptional and we will definitely revisit soon.

Visited with a friend for a Christmas visit. The service was as good as usual and the atmosphere is lovely. The afternoon tea was good, but the plum bread was very very dry and not edible (sorry). Everything else was delicious.

Lovely afternoon meeting up with school friends from the past, a group of seven. It was like home from home cosy & welcoming atmosphere, sitting chatting enjoying an afternoon tea along with happy memories of our school days. Friendly lovely mum & her daughter who own it. We will be definitely meeting up again there for our next reunion.

We had the afternoon tea, a nice treat. You get a choice of sandwich fillings etc, and then it is brought freshly prepared. Friendly service, and you can book a slot to ensure they are ready for you.

First time in and very impressed: great, friendly service, delicious freshly-made food set in a quirky, cute, cosy vintage without the pretension. Many places advertising as "vintage" tend to try way too hard and come off as pretentious, but Gills fits effortlessly into its identity. Will definitely be visiting again!
