A mixed bag. My meat eater friend loved his meal - Tbf the belly pork looked very good. However as a vegetarian I had a limited choice between 2 meals. My tofu risotto wasn’t good - the tofu had little flavour, for “seared” read “burnt”. I eat in loads of plant based restaurants where the meal are delicious and full of flavour. This chef needs to vastly improve the veggie meals here. Tofu is so flavourless it needs lots of marinading and spices etc . This tasted as if it had just been “seared” and tossed in a (very average) risotto.Disappointing as after reading the reviews I had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant

My husband and I have been going to Gilligans for a number of years. In a nutshell, it's superb. Ruth, the owner, offers a warm welcome and excellent service. Ruth and Elliott, the chef, offer a wide menu and specials board, and never fail to impress. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My partner and I visited here and were not disappointed. Lovely food and great service to boot. Would definitely recommend. One slight drawback was lack of parking but not a lot Gilligans could do about that. However if you want a lovely meal then using a taxi is no hardship ( plus it means drivers can have a drink with no worries ).

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this restaurant does the greatest hits brilliantly! I defy anyone not to find something between the main menu and the specials and the value for money is excellent, this place is such an underrated gem and I urge anyone with half a tastebud and a lack of prejudice towards the 70s & 80s Classics to give it a go. This is real fresh food done in a real crowd pleasing style - what’s not to love?!

Gilligans really is such a lovely restaurant - the menu is amazing, service really excellent and welcoming and the atmosphere is perfect. I would recommend Gilligans to go for a really enjoyable evening in every way. Thankyou to all staff.

Wednesdays are quiet and great for catching up. We ordered the main meal from the blackboard which was pork tenderloin Wellington with veg and saute pots. Delicious! Brought our own wine.

Excellent 3 course set menu with lots of choice. Amazing service and food for a very reasonable price. The BYO deal along with the gorgeous food makes this restaurant an absolute must.

Lovely intimate atmosphere, and friendly attentive service. You can take your own wine with no corkage fee. I started with tempura prawns with a dip, really tasty. One of the party had cockles and laver bread which he really enjoyed. My main course was tenderloin pork Wellington which was flavoursome with great texture. I finished with a wonderful bread pudding. My wife is vegetarian and had a good choice of tasty dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we had a really great evening.

Fantastic 3 course menu with plenty to choose from on the specials board as well. Staff we great, very attentive, out table of 9 people all got served at the same time and we all left clean plates!

We had a really lovely evening at Gilligans. The menu was varied, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, and the service was excellent. Their BYO policy is great, but they're also licensed, so you've got the option. It's a lovely place to go as a couple, or with friends & family for a celebration.

My wife and I visit this restuarant regularly, because there is allwaysa warm and friendly atmoshpere and the service and food are excellent. There is a good range of dishes to choose from and the prices are very reasonable - love the 'Bring your own Bottle 'which makes them even more competitive!

This is an excellent local family run restaurant that I can highly recommend. The standard of the food and service is measured by the number of regular customers. I would urge you to try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

A must visit if you’re in Swansea! With the added bonus of being able to take your own alcohol. This is simple food done so well. Veg is always cooked to perfection, fresh and colourful. Front of house are attentive and the restaurant is like being in a taverna abroad. A wonderful experience…. And also to add consistently excellent as we’ve been many many times!

Eaten at some of the best restaurants in Swansea but I must say today's Christmas eve meal rates amongst the best food and service we have experienced in Swansea. We'll done to Ruth and Gilligans fantastic afternoon, we'll be back 💞

I'm not a fan of coats over the backs of chairs. I only found out about the coat hooks when I used the toilet. I do worry when a menu says "seasonal vegetables" and then you get peas. Bit of a cop out if you ask me, and the carrots and broccoli were very over cooked. Disappointing when there are so many wonderful vegetables available at this time of year. I think for the kind of restaurant it wants to be, bread and butter could be offered,. I, annoyingly, had a dessert fork to eat my main course.

Just back from lunch at our local restaurant Gilligans. Everyone had something different and all commented how really gorgeous their food was. The haddock gougons were tasty and lightly battered, the turkey and beef were tender and juicy and the rum and raisin cheesecake was top favourite dessert! Ruth and her team are so helpful and welcoming - we will be back soon! Thank you all for a lovely afternoon.

Lovely restaurant, excellent good quality food and reasonably priced. The staff are wonderful and make you feel very at home. Defiantly one of the best restaurants in Swansea, you will not be disappointed.

What a beautiful bistro In the heart of sketty. Wonderful selection of food with specials menu very good price for 3 courses. Staff were very friendly and we didn’t feel rushed, and BYO wine 🍷 is a winner. We will definitely be back.

Friendly attentive staff; great variation in menu throughout the year using fresh products and excellent value. You can bring your own drinks and they do sell drinks also. Laid back atmosphere and always very clean.

Good value tasty tapas served at lunchtime. Excellent a la carte evening menu. You can also bring your own wine, altho Gillingan's is also now licensed.

Best meal we have had in a long time. First time we have visited the restaurant and the food, ambience was outstanding. Made a big effort to cater for my lactose intolerant wife by customising the menu. Will make this a favourite place to go and will visit more regularly. Great value for money, a must go restaurant.

Our first visit to Gilligans. Had 3 course lunch which was excellent quality and at a reasonable price. Service was friendly and efficient but not in the least bit intrusive, which is exactly as it should be.We have already booked an evening meal for a few weeks time and are looking forward to trying the evening menu.Covid precautions were exactly as they should be.

Been dining at Gilligan's for many years, but sadly recent Lockdown restrictions resulted in a table for two rather than the usual larger party. Nonetheless the welcome was still as warm, and the food of the usual high standard . With overall hygiene and PPE being taken seriously as we expected it would be. A delicious, if quieter lockdown lunch, that put a smile on our faces, with three courses that were faultless. Can't recommend anything in particular as everything was so nice, we were spoilt for choice ! Can't wait to return, as Gilligan's never fails to deliver on a great dining experience .

I have eaten here on many occasions and have always had delicious food. The menu is changed frequently and the fish dishes are particularly good. Bring your own means you can eat out for a very reasonable price. I would be happy to go here every week

A wonderful dining experience on every level. An excellent choice on the set menu and plenty of additional specials too. Every dish was exquisite and ranks among the best we have experienced. Add to this the very reasonable price, I think you will struggle to find a better three course meal for anywhere near the same amount. An unpretentious environment and friendly welcoming staff made for a perfect evening out celebrating a special occasion.

I have been a student at Swansea university for four years and eaten at a lot of places, none of which come close to Gilligan’s. It was perfect. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

I was invited to Gilligan’s last year and thought everything was perfect. As we were in Swansea for a few nights we pre booked a table for last night (a Wednesday),luckily we did so as it was a good crowd in. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we set through the door and had the menus and the specials board waiting for usWe brought our own wine like last year but the had a selection on offer if you didn’t The starter was Haddock Goujons which were lovely and a few other friends had the spicy meatballs which they said were delicious. The mains were lovely,I had the Chicken with the peppercorn sauce and my friend had the Pork Belly which he said was very nice. Had the Profiteroles for dessert in a Baileys sauce and my friend had the Chocolate Fudge Brownie which he said was divine. Just after the meal we had Irish Coffee and I’m sure they put a lot more Jameson in it as they should have as it certainly had a kickI certainly will be making a visit to Gilligan’s when I’m in Swansea again,I did say I’d love to take this delightful restaurant back to London with meSo if your ever in Swansea make sure you make a visit here,but remember to be on the safe side make a reservation

Had a lovely meal and overall experience at this little gem on New Years Eve. We had Glamorgan sausage and Pate to start; with mains of Chicken in mushroom & bacon sauce and Plaice in prawn and cream sauce. Mains were accompanied with season veg and sauté potatoes. All dishes were gorgeous and ample portions. We finished off with chocolate brownie and vanilla cheesecake. We brought our own drinks ( no corkage charge) so the evening cost a tad under £60 which was excellent value.Ruth and her staff were courteous and professional. Service was spot on.This really is a great little restaurant and I can’t recommend it highly enough!

A stunning Christmas Meal with 5 friends at Gilligans’s this week. Couldn’t fault any of the dishes- first rate. As a group we eat out once a month and all agreed this was our best meal of 2019!🎅🏻⛄️🥂

Haven't been here for ages but going back next week,you can take your own wine which is great. Last night the menue was really good, there was a seasonal meal which hubby had and said the Turkey dinner was really good and the Christmas pudding lovely. The haddock goujons were really light and tasty,I had a main of smoked haddock in a sauce delicious the vegetables all fresh and plentiful, Puddings ,posset with a zingy sauce and Christmas puds all really excellent will be going back next week .Really good atmosphere and excellent staff.

Went on a Wednesday night, dinner for 2, both had 2 courses and shared a desert, food was amazing and not too expensive which was made better by being able to bring your own wine. Waitress put ice wraps around our wine to keep it cool. Would highly recommend!

Having read good reviews I chose Gilligan’s for an anniversary meal with my wife. It’s a little tucked away from the main road but is close to a pay & display car park, there’s some limited free on-road parking outside too.

We just got home from Gilligan’s, such a brilliant night. The food was delicious, restaurant was warm and cosy, the staff were so helpful and friendly, especially with our two girls. I would definitely recommend, we are on holidays but my mother in law will be back. Thanks for a lovely evening Gilligan’s!

Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. There was a good choice on the 3-course menu with more choices on the specials board. Food was delicious. A minor criticism is that the 2-course option is not offered at weekends, so next time I'll go on a Wednesday or Thursday.

Excellent menus reasonable prices

This is the most impressive restaurant we have eaten in for a long time. Really, really good. The ambiance is excellent, the service is spot on and the food is excellent. Listen to your Trip Advisor friends and give this little restaurant a try, you won’t regret it! Our daughter was looked after and all in all a lively experience

A wonderful restaurant with high class dining at reasonable prices. The food is well prepared, extremely tasty and the sauces are mouth wateringly delicious. Am so pleased to have discovered this place, on our doorstep! Thoroughly recommended.

Visited with 3 friends recently. Really lovely little place - intimate, friendly and great atmosphere. Staff very helpful, pleasant and friendly. The choice on the 3-course set menu is varied, with something to please most tastes. Food was good and as its bring-your-own, the bill was much more reasonable than usual. Will be back.

My second time here and food is really good. Staff is also very friendly and the try to make a good experience. Generally it’s a nice and clean place, will definitely go back
