This is a truly special restaurant. The food is locally produced and you can taste this; it’s fresh and delicious. The options on the menu are wide, with lovely homemade veggie options as well as seafood and local meat like venison. It’s amazing!!!! We were recommended here so booked well ahead . The drive from Torridon is spectacular, we enjoyed it more than The Applecross Peninsula. Steep and bendy but not crowded and those views need to be seen ( preferably on a good day) Arrived at the beautiful Diabieg and were warmly greeted to Gille Brighde ( Oystercatcher) . We sat outside with our dogs as it was fab weather and no midges. Seafood is amazing here, however for a main i actually had a roast as it was Sunday . Everything perfect . Good choice of bottled beer to and a decent wine list . One of our favourite days of our three week trip to the Highlands. Can’t wait to return next year.

We have stopped here for coffee a few times when we have been nearby during a trip - it's a lovely place and the owners seem like really nice people, always very friendly. There is a nice seating area indoors but we usually prefer to sit outside and enjoy the view of the bay - there is an old ship wreck nearby and at the right time of year, lots of colourful shells! We haven't tried the food as we usually bring meals with us when camping, but as others have said the menu looks good and very extensive! There was hand sanitiser available and staff were wearing masks so I felt like it was pretty Covid safe, however the indoor seating is quite cosy so I would recommend sitting outside if you were very worried about it.

We were delighted to find it open with excellent Covid compliance which made our short visit so enjoyable. After a couple weeks touring the NC500 this was the perfect Sunday lunch. Tucked into a quiet out of the way bay. The drive is wonderful on a passing places single track road. Gets a bit steep and not suitable for large motorhomes or caravans. It is all about the seafood, with local fresh oak smoked selection being the real treat for us. Never had fresh smoked local mackerel before, an absolute delight. Book in advance to get a indoor table to avoid midges. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Nobody would expect to find an absolutely first class restaurant in the tiny Torridon village of Diabaig , near the end of a long and winding road. Believe me, it's "vaut le voyage" as they say in the Michelin green guides. The proprietor and his wife were charming, and could not have been more helpful, I chose langoustines from a menu of locally caught seafood, and they were delicious. Followed by ice cream with fruit. My perfect meal

MORE AT TripAdvisor

On Tripadvisor this is number 1 of 3 restaurants in Torridon and to get there you have to drive 30 mins from Torridon. That tells you how far away from everything you are! The restaurant is literally at the very end of a road (from Torridon) that already had you driving on single-lane roads with passing spots. We stayed at the Torridon hotel (wonderful place) and ate here on our "night out". The restaurant is set on a small bay, right on the water, where you could imagine a few small fishing boats "hanging out". It feels a bit much to call this a village, perhaps "gathering of houses" is more descriptive. Still, it's all quite charming.I highly recommend eating early-ish - 6pm got us back to our hotel just as it was getting dark. The drive here is very pretty and if it's warm enough you can sit outside and eat, or have a drink outside and then come inside for dinner (that's what we did). Or just stop by for a drink! Be aware that opening hours are quite limited. We actually came here for a walk that basically starts outside the restaurant and heads up the road for a bit to a path that takes you along the coast heading north. There is no road along this part of the coast, and if you follow the path for 3-4 hours you get to another road that dead-ends there. Views across to Isle of Skye are very nice and even if you're not eating at this restaurant, it's a nice walk. It's a small place with perhaps half-a-dozen tables. Ofcourse food is as locally sourced as possible with a focus on the ocean right outside. I'm not much for describing what we ate other than to say the flavors were excellent, on point, "crisp", fresh - yup, yummy indeed. The couple working here are lovely and certainly add to the charm of the place. Reservations - I would highly recommend it. It's highly rated; it's small; if it's full you're 30 minutes to the next option. I think we used facebook/messenger and they were good about responding. As you can tell, we loved this cute little gem at the end of the world. Highly recommended.

We first found this place on a drive out in March when we were over for a few days and made a note to come back during our September holiday. We were not disappointed!! This is the best meal we have had during our 2 week holiday and we have not had a single bad meal at all. Why is this the best? Well everything about it. The setting, right at the edge of the loch, stunning. The welcome, warm and friendly. A husband and wife team working together doing everything themselves. The ambience of the restaurant and most of all the delicious food. So much fish and seafood to chose from plus something for the non fish lover too. We both had scallops to start which were the best we have had over the 2 weeks. I had halibut for main which was cooked to perfection and so tasty. My husband had the venison which was so tender and flavoursome. Even the chips he had tasted like roast potatoes if that makes sense! My husband had the chocolate torte with almond brittle and amaretto chocolate sauce. WOW. Everything homemade. Even the bread. Is it any wonder they are up for an award. I do hope they win! Not everyone will know about this place but I urge you to take the long winding road from Torridon out to Diabag. It is well worth it so much so we are going back tonight for our last night of our holiday.

Your evening out begins with the trip from Loch Torridon to Gille Brighde. What a route, narrow single track road with exhilarating views over the Loch! Sadly, it was rather cloudy so I could only imagine how it would look on a clear night with a glorious sunset.A warm welcome greets you at the door and then there is the difficult decision to choose from an impressive menu, all sourced in local ingredients. I'm afraid I always find it hard to look past scallops and thankfully these were available as a starter or main course option. That simplified things for me as I fancied trying the venison fillet, something I had never tried before. Both were excellent - fresh, quality ingredients, superbly cooked and presented. A good selection of wines and other drinks were available to accompany our meal. All of our table were in raptures with their food, service was excellent and the atmosphere was perfectly understated and relaxed.I had read the reviews of Giile Brighde before reserving our table and thought that this sounded the kind of place our friends would enjoy. They certainly did! Few restaurants will enjoy such a range of positive reviews - to be honest, I was anticipating that I would enjoy our visit, but have to say that this place is even better that I had expected. Food and cooking are both of the highest quality, but are very fairly priced. Food of this standard would cost considerably more in a city centre restaurant. And you don't get the scenery in a city centre!Gille Brighde is somewhere I shall eagerly return to!

We had enjoyed the exhilarating drive to Grille Brighde and having been told that the food was excellent we anticipated an enjoyable meal. Unfortunately it was not the case.

Amanda and Aart Lastdragger run this small restaurant. Their welcome and delicious food was worth the visit. We were staying in Shieldaig and heard recommendations. We were not disappointed and will definitely again. All 6 of us enjoyed a wonderful lunch.

Fantastic meal for 4 using the finest local ingredients - the turbot was the best ever. Great beers, nice wines & lovely people. The night was rounded off by a fabulous trip back to Shieldaig village on Gordon’s fast RIB (Torridon RIB Charter). - highly recommended. An ‘A-list’ experience!

This place was recommended by our host Nigel as being a good place to eat. What he failed to mention was the beautiful and dramatic drive to get there. Two top tens in one. Place to eat and roads to drive. Stunning vistas, spectacular food and genuine warm service. I learned about squab lobster, "sweeties of the sea" as described by our host Aart. He was not wrong. Venison on point and cranachan to die for. Up there with many a Michelin starred menu. A true hidden gem worth seeking out.

Our intention in driving to Lower Diabaig was to take a walk recommended by someone. And yes, the walk from there to Craig is more than worth it. If you want to stay overnight and walk back there is a bothy just up from the shore. We had our walk and caught Aart just before they closed for their afternoon break. Excellent coffee and cake! We had no intention of another visit, however the lure of a Sunday roast the next day and doing the glorious drive from Shieldaig again was too much. The roast was beautiful, atmosphere great and the company of a couple and their delightful children we'd passed the day before on our walk, made this a highlight of our trip to Scotland. We'll be going back if we get to that part of Scotland again.

We took a scenic boat tour across the Loch to have lunch here. A beautiful, quaint setting. We were met with a heart-felt welcome and explanation of the menu, which was impressively broad for such a remote setting. Our teenagers gladly played along the shore while we sat outside, enjoyed a drink and waited for the food. Everything was outstanding, but the ultra-fresh, hyper-local seafood platter stood out. One of the most memorable meals of my life!

On paper we were renting a holiday home not far from Diabaig but the journey to get to its famous restaurant, the Gille Bridghe was a true adventure - a twisting road over the hills with some spectacular sights. On arrival mein host made us very welcome. It was a set lunch on a Sunday but the choices were excellent and well worth the set price - a choice of 2 or 3 courses. The black pudding starter was delicious as was my wife’s choice of mackerel. The main courses of lamb and sole were equally amazing in taste and presentation. The choice of desserts was ideal for two sweet-toothed foodies.

We were staying near Laide, but travelled to Gille Brighde because of our previous visits. A four hour round trip might seem excessive but it was well worth it. Well sourced, fresh ingredients so very well prepared and presented, and such a delicious meal. Aart and Amanda have a lovely atmosphere here and have created something special. Thank you both.

Divine. Seafood that was the best I have had in years, Aart and Amanda were gracious and very helpful. It may seem like you are on a road to nowhere, but take that less traveled road, its well work it. Great view, great people, great food. If you are on a vacation, this will be a place you never forget for all the reasons mentioned above.

We were lucky enough to be staying in Upper Diabeg so only a short drive to the restaurant which nestles down a steep hill by the sea. Boat taxis can be arranged apparently. You must book as there aren’t many tables and it was full when we were there. The menu is mostly seafood based and my scallops were delicious. Unfortunately my partner’s pork loin was untrimmed and extremely fatty, though the meat and sauce were tasty. A free dessert (Sticky Toffee Pudding) was provided in apology. This is a modest place, rustically (charmingly) furnished. Service is good and atmosphere buzzy.

Diabaig is 650 miles from my home but is my favourite place in the UK. Due to the distance I have only visited about once every five years. My wife and I have just been there again and were delighted to find it now has a restaurant. The owners were very friendly and although we only had tea and cake there, it was excellent and we'd love to have a meal there in the future. It is, not surprisingly, very popular and we were advised to book if we want to have dinner there on our next visit. It is at the end of a long single track road with stunning views but don't all go at once - the peacefulness is the big attraction!

It translates as Oystercatcher. What a fabulous place ,fabulous interesting food run by a larger than life character. You might also meet his Dad. We ate there last week and the Hake was delicious lightly cooked but full of flavour. The wine list is small but well chosen. Try the fish soup and his lovely puddings. You will not be disappointed . If you come by bicycle leave it at the top of the hill,it is as hard to push or cycle up the steep sinuous hill. Must come back later in the year.

We hadn’t anticipated how fabulous the drive to the restaurant would be. It was spectacular. Then on arrival hospitality was superb, unpretentious, very welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent. My husband had Cullen Skink which was delicious and over never seen a plate of scallops like his main course. My venison was delicious. Plentiful and very well cooked.

We had a late lunch at Gille Brighde after a very rainy hill walk in the beautiful surroundings of Lower Diabaig. I can't praise this restaurant highly enough. Great craft beers, a warm welcome and the most delicious food. I love Gille Brighde's locallly sourced ethic and our food was cooked with such skill. I had steak with an amazing juniper and port sauce with celeriac mash (heavenly) with braised red cabbage, carrots and broccoli to share with my husband who had the venison stew. We followed with sticky toffee pudding with festive ice cream and Gaelic coffee. Just delicious. Wish this was our local and will definitely be visiting again, despite it being almost at the other end of the country from us - it's worth the trip :) Highly recommended and best way to start our New Year, thank you!
