Gianni's Fish And Chip Shop in Inverclyde

This place had gone down hill with Gianni leaving. He's now back and the food and service is great again. So please I can et decent fish suppers and sausage suppers again.

I hadn't been here for years as Gianni had left and it had gone way downhill. Gianni is back and it's back to being great again. We had a sausage supper and a fish supper. They were both delicious. I will definitely be back regularly again.

2 helpful ladies assisted me in buying a lovely tasty breaded fish supper and a portion of mac & cheese!!!

Been using Luigi's since moving back to Greenock was ok then told that Gianna's was opened again so poped in Friday night thought I'll have a Bolognese salami and mushroom 12in pizza and a bag of chips £14 don't know if that's dear but happy to walk away being hungry so tonight thought I will have the exact same thing price £15'50 so it's Russian roulette with prices next time I shall be asking for my receipt being in business myself I couldn't play that game with my clients

Gianni is an amazing man, kind, and welcoming. I love his fish and chips.

The recommendations from family and friends were very good and also others..... after having a great day walking and cycling we voted for a chippy tea.... we decided what to have and i was the designated goffer... the shop looked not to busy, three other customers had been seen to so I approached the screen to place our order..........around the 10mins mark I was { told we shall be with you} ... the food what I could see looked fresh and tasty, but after the 20mins mark with nobody approaching me for our order I decided ..... this place doesn't deserve our money our custom.. and left. where the family were very disappointed... I cant recommend the food, or the service, but the shop was very clean and tidy, pity the front of house or the tiller couldn't acknowledge that I was waiting even to place an order.....

Ordered lasagne and a portion of chips the lasagne was amazing, but the chips were reheats spoilt my dinner I preordered my food so obviously I got reheats, sorry yous can't service the public food like that nobody can afford to go and buy another portion of chips, get it sorted or yous will lose business.

Just reopened and thank god.. was always the best chippy in area ..

The staff are rude and the biggest liars I've ever who got both my cousins orders wrong, they asked for penne and instead gave them spaghetti and kept insisting that's what they ordered... They couldn't even close or wrap a tub of curry chips right and curry sauce went over everything. The most disgusting thing about this experience is that I phoned up about this mistake and they assured me a refund will be in order when we arrived less than 6 minutes later we were told that was a driver and they refused to refund us.. Do not dine here Gianni's is a disgrace and insult to italian food if the staff are so stupid they can't even tell the difference between penne and Spaghetti pasta.

We had never tried Gianni’s before but were pleased to see it is now on Clyde Eats. Were impressed with its menu and decided to order our usual Saturday night takeaway from them. So glad we did! The delivery time was excellent and the delivery guy was so nice and friendly. My husband had the Chicken Nugget Supper which he said was delicious. I had a Single Sausage which was the nicest I’ve had anywhere. The batter was light and crispy and the sausage was so tasty. Everything was still so hot we could eat it straight away. Can’t wait to try more from the menu if these are anything to go by. Well done to all concerned.

Based on the last time I was there had a philly oven baked pizza which had virtually no toppings on it and looked like it been Frisbeed into the box from the other side of the kitchen the pizza was halfway up the box. Concentrating to much on their deliveries in my opinion as I was the only customer in the shop.

Food is excellent but there is usually a wait even when you preorder your food!

Terrible Terrible Terrible. Fish, chips and Cheese n chips all horrible. Server's face was just as terrible. Will never ever go here again. Even when I put my glasses on it was difficult to find the cheese. The fish was 25% burnt batter. The chips were obviously reheats and full of black and bad bits. Don't go here.

Ordered a Pizza which after waiting nearly 2 hours for arrived freezing cold and had to reheat in the oven, Pizza's used to be a really good from here, will not be ordering anything again

People behind the counter are too busy talking to take orders or make your food. You have to wait for them to move to the till and catch their attention.

There are no words ,,,, awful ,, avoid at all costs ,, used to be great chippy , don't know who owns it now but seriously health and safety need brought in

Decided to eat out and get fish and chips for dinner! This chip shop used to be one of the best in Inverclyde under the previous owner. However is is fast becoming the worst carry out fish and chip shop in Greenock. My fish supper was not at a reasonable level of food to be served to the public,so much so I have decided to contact our local environmental health office, My fish was black at each end and the middle bit of fish was was in my opinion not worth the money. Mostly batter very little fish, I kept the remains of my fish supper to show the shop manager. I visited the ship on at least 3 occasions the following day to complain in person shop was closed. So I telephoned, the conversation I had was nothing short of the worse customer service I have ever had. The shop person was not in the slightest bit interested in my complaint, he did apologise but when I asked for a refund he became quite rude! Telling me I was the only person to complain, so what! I was an unhappy customer, he made no effort whatsoever to resolve my complaint. I will not be using this particular Carry out shop again, and will most certainly not recommend it to anyone!

always freezing and chips are terrible

Don't know if the Gianni's in Gourock relates to the shop in Greenock but my comments are about Gianni's in Gourock. Anyway went there today and got a small and a large fish supper. The large fish supper consisted of two fish which were both grossly over cooked and definitely not fresh indeed they were awful and now occupy my bin. I did notice that ther were numerous fish in the warm oven above the frier and nobody in the shop, so I guess the fish and the batter had dried due to the length if time in oven warmer. The small fish supper was just as bad and as such I will not return to Gianni's (Gourock). Fish needs to be fresh so Mama Franca's is the only fish bar worth using in Gourock

This place is a joke. They charge you for everything you order and when your order gets delivered everything you ordered isn't even there. I got charged £19.60 for 4 cans of coke, 1 pickle and 2 single hamburgers and when I phoned to complain the phone rang out with no answer. No one order from here the place is a joke and they rip you off

Asked for gravy and salt and vinegar on the sausage supper TWICE and was nothing on it, over priced food, was terrible and cold… will certainly never be using this place again to order.

Never again. Fish Supper was reheated and burned. Chips were acidic. Couldn't phone back to complain as was constantly busy. Will not buy from here again . Any business who could send this out as acceptable should be closed down. Pity they are still carrying previous owner's name.

Batter on fish was black (I'd expect from dirty oil) and chips tasted like they had also been cooked in very dirty oil. Service was also terrible, called ahead to place an order and still got left waiting outside for 10mins and staff never returned with my change. Won't be back.

Fresh, tasty and wholesome portions in every order and prices are reasonable.

This place has rapidly gone down hill everything is swiming in grease including the pasta its stay well clear this place is a waste of money

Great fish and chips excellent service worth trying if you're in Gourock

Just got an order from Giannis at west station in Greenock at 4:45pm and very disappointed, it was cold and it was like the end of the nights leftover chips small and crispy, not the same anymore

I ordered a fish supper and chicken nugget supper as I was working nearby. On arriving home we found the chips were cold, tasteless and were obviously reheated. The fish wasn’t much better. Just awful and not worth £13.00. Avoid this establishment

Second time recently had a rubbish fish supper from here. Normally given two fish but twice one of the fish was only a "HALF" fish the other half was just batter and the batter was chewy (probably a re-heat). Even the chips were rubbish mostly all small hard ones. Probably given what was left in oven as they were probably in the process of making "fresh" chips as there was two people waiting and I know they were waiting on a fish supper. Will be giving this place a wide berth from now on.

Unhelpful, uncommunicative staff serving mediocre food. Little Covid signage, no one-way system, no separation of pre-order customers and walk-in customers. Shame. Won't be back.

Over 2 hours late then called to cancel and they hadn't even placed my order and where miles less than apologetic about the cancellation and mistake. Will not use again

AVOID. THERE IS ALWAYS SOME SORT OF PROBLEM WHEN ORDERING FROM HERE, THEY CAN NEVER GET A SIMPLE ORDER CORRECT. This was for a phone order on 11/07 but came here to leave a review because there is nothing but problems with this place. Pizza was absolutely freezing. Asked for gravy on 2 of my suppers and got gravy on none of them. Phoned up to ask them to rectify, but no answer. Do not order from here unless you want items missing and incorrect orders. Even the dog didn't want your cold pizza.

terrible food and very bad service staff are rude we were told our order would be 40mins but it took 1hr 15mins the was COLD and seemed under cooked the order was different from the one we made and when we called to complain the staff customer service was shocking they refused to change the order and said that the food we didn't want we should not eat very bad service

Placed an order around 7pm for a delivery at 8:20. Called at 9 o'clock to say my delivery was getting recooked due to a driver breakdown, and it will get to me in 10 mins . This never happened ,no food arrived, and I draw the line about getting blatantly lied to.... informed Just Eat and got a refund, but for me I will never go back. My first ever experience of an establishment in Greenock or anywhere else being that unprofessional.

Greasy fish and mushie peas right from a can, the pickled onions weren't too bad tho

So I was bitterly disappointed, pizza crunch was soggy and soaked with oil. If you didn’t eat it instantly it would leave a coating of cold fat on your tongue. Staff were rude and only interested in taking your money and getting you out the door. Chips were undercooked. Will not be back

I won’t be going back here. Went here to cheer the family up from the lockdown blues. The portion sizes were ridiculously small, the fish was more batter and barely any fish with the pieces so small they’d barely feed a child, never mind an adult! Plus the chips were cold. I was so disappointed with the food. I really wanted to support these guys as they were making an effort, but the food was such a let down. Well worth avoiding and going elsewhere!

My husband was so looking forward to a chippy fish supper. I went into shop and ordered a small fish supper for him. Waited for chips so was happy they were going to be fresh. £6.00 for a small fish supper ok prices have jumped it didn't matter he was so looking forward to a fish supper. Got it home opened the box and ...... burnt fish and black spots all over the chips. The fish was chewy either last nights left overs or dirty fat hence the spots on the chips. I have used Giannis in Greenock on a regular basis but not after tonight's offering at inflated prices. If I could give a minus star review it would be -5.

Take your order on just eat and cancel for no reason. If they can’t handle volume, they shouldn’t be taking orders at all. Shocking customer service, wont be using them again.

Put in an order in Just Eat at 7pm. Order was supposed to arrive 8.15, when we checked it again it was 8.30. I understand times are very busy. Order didn’t arrive until 8.50 and was completely inedible. Pizza terrible with no tomato base with absolutely disgusting chips that were just sprinkled on and the side order of pickled onions was placed on top of the pizza for some reason leaving 1 person without a meal. Cannot believe a £20 order came 2 hours later and complete inedible leaving it almost impossible to have anything else as it’s now 9.10pm on a Friday night. Will never order from here again.

Been in twice a few weeks apart and both times the chips were tough and dried out.

Bunch of kids working. Asked for a sausage dinner that said £3 on the chalkboard specials thing. Got given 2 sausages and charged 6 quid. Never again.

Greasy chips which were mostly small and hard. Fish wasn't great either. Dour faced staff who didn't appear pleased that I ordered things that weren't already cooked. Threw most of what I bought in the bin. I'll never buy from them again. Worst chip shop in Inverclyde, nevermind Greenock . Yuck.

£8-00 for a substandard greasy fish supper. If your a tourist reviewing this chippy, do yourself a favour and walk 5 minutes to the next chippy because it is far superior. THE best chippy in Inverclyde is Louis in Port Glasgow, absolutely amazing and less than £7-00 for a bigger, better fish supper

All I can say is ordered fish and chips last night. Mistake after mistake meant that I never recieved it. Then tonight I gave it a chance ordered fish n chips waste of money really bad folks 3 sausage supper came without tub of gravy ordered so 2 another mistake. No way I will use again. Just hope folk know Gianni does not own this business. Really sad fot him. U

Absolutely outraged after getting home with my special fish suppers. Over £20.00 spent on 2 suppers and another bit of fish, the chips were undercooked and the fish was so over cooked I couldn't even get the knife to cut it🤬.

Great fish and chips. Got a shock when they said £8 please, how on earth did fish n chips get to be so expensive. Mind you, you do get a good portion, 2 fish and loads o chips.

Just received my order about 20 mins ago ordered a single fish and a sausage supper gravy separate when my nephew comes in to get his sausage supper there ,it's a fish supper so wasted to late to complain.

Ordered a onion pizza supper and chips were soggy, stale and cold , pizza was swimming in fresh onions and soggy due to the onions not being crispy and was also cold. Walk ins seem to be better than delivery just isnt the same quality due to being cold etc.

Always love the food. Delivery is shocking though. 45 mins late and still not here. Spoke to shop 25 mins ago and was told it was out for delivery.

Food was good, and enjoyable, But had to be reheated. Food was 15 minutes late and arrived STONE COLD. And when the driver showed up just got a very monotone, apology. He should find another line of work.

Food was swimming in curry sauce when I only asked for a little chips was undercooked when tried to call but no answer tryed 4 times calling wasn't just one bit of the order was the whole order wasn't able to eat any of it and ended up in the bin total waste of money!

Ordered as on holiday and fancied a takeaway. I wish they delivered to the West Midlands! Just pie and chips but the pastry on the pie was really nice and the chips were lovely. (2nd takeaway from them in two days). Thank you

Order placed at 18:09 and was due for delivery at 19:25 - quarter pounder with cheese was horrible and the black pudding had hardly any taste very bland compared to other chip shops I've tried. The chips those are the only things I ate they where actually nice. I tried calling the take away on 2 occasions to ask where my food was but each time it rang out and cut me off with an automated recording. Won't be ordering from here again. Not sure if it's just a bad night or something but it's enough to put me off a 2nd delivery sorry guys

Unfortunately I had to finish cooking everything myself, the pizza was undercooked had to go in the oven, and the chips were undercooked pale and soggy. It’s usually nice from here but we were very disappointed.

Absolutely love Gianni's but tonight I was quite disappointed, the food didn't seem as freshly made as it always does and the amount of chips that I got with my 2 smaller fish were a great couple of handfuls less than what we normally would get. Not impressed!!

Pizza base was barely cooked and had the pizza box had clearly been turned on its side in transit. All the pizza had slid to one side of the box in a cold, mushy, mess. Chips- bland and cold. 👎👎 Delivery time was excellent though!

I’ve been here several times in the last couple of weeks. The food is well cooked and the service is very good. Prices are reasonable and similar to others in the same area.

Pizza tasted great but unfortunately upon opening the box its contents were all squashed down to one side of it - as if the box had been transported on its side instead of being carried flat as you’d expect a pizza to be . . . .

Quite possibly worst chippy I've ever been in. Batter all stuck to chips, the batter that wasn't just fell off the fish. Chips were poor. Waiting time was appalling, mainly because stuff made for me was given to customers who came in after me. Counter staff pleasant enough but looked absolutely miserable. Also £8 for fish supper, I'd say it's about £6 on average elsewhere.

Food is excellent , I knocked 2 stars off because the way the delivery drivers were carrying on with the girls serving , opening mayo bottles pretending to squirt them and knocking the hot pizza delivery bags onto there heads and the food prep areas where my pizza was going to be prepared , I almost cancelled my order but Donald makes such good pizzas , I don't think if Gianni was there that behaviour would happen but the young fryer was to busy working with Donald they couldn't and should have to stop the carry on behind the counter , I hope Gianni reads this and puts a stop to it because as I say I almost walked out .
