Gianni's Brio Restaurant & Pizzeria in Harrogate

We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious and inventive food! What a treat! Service was very good and the food exceptional! We would eat here again!

My family and I (17of us) recently visited this fantastic restaurant for my son’s 21st birthday. The food, service and atmosphere was 10/10. I cannot fault anything. Nothing was too much trouble from the communication before hand and on the night. Would highly recommend! The most delicious, freshly cooked food. Thank you 🤩

We visit Harrogate a few times a year for over the last 5 years. We’ve never eaten here until this latest trip. This was our second time eating here in the last four days. The first night I ordered chicken, potatoes, and mixed veg. My partner ordered the pasta and meat balls followed by ice cream… The second night (tonight) , I ordered the melanzane and a salad side, my partner had the lasagne and salad side followed by ice cream… The first night the food was excellent with good portions . I decided not to have a desert or drink after. The second night , I ordered the melanzane which when I’ve had this at other restaurants and at Ho e it doesn’t contain pasta? This to me was a vegetable pasta with an exceptional sauce. My partners lasagne fell short of his expectations! The portion was very small and underwhelming. I decided to order a cappuccino with oat milk whilst my partner had his desert. To my surprise the restaurant doesn’t have an alternative milk option!! This is very disappointing by today’s standards. Does this mean that all,of there deserts are made with milk?? Not good for such a good standard restaurant. Overall … it’s a lovely place and the food is quality however, for the price I believe it depends on what you order, and I don’t think they carter very well for vegetarians.

Incredible high quality simple ingredients. The lamp chops are incredible. All the seafood on the frito Misto was cooked so well. Wonderful staff in a very busy environment.

Based on previous reviews on Trip Adviser we decided to book a table at Gianni’s during a recent visit to Harrogate and wasn’t disappointed. The place was buzzing from the moment we walked through the door and was shown to our table by our friendly waitress. Both our meals tasted great and arrived in good time without feeling rushed. We will absolutely visit again the next time we’re in the area.

Popped in for a steak dinner and had a great night just me and my son. Delicious starters of dough balls and calamari then 2 outstanding ribeyes with fries veg and zucchini fritti, knock out! Service was great, even my 11yr old said “these guys are amazing, Gianni and Marco the owners working the tables to say hi! Proper Italian family restaurant! Grazie, tutto bene 👌

Loved this restaurant. The food was superb. I had the Melanzane Parmigiana and the Saltimbocca. The restaurant has a young and lively vibe, but the food has a traditional Italian quality about it. Will definitely be back when we visit Harrogate again.

I booked in advance and our table was waiting for us upon arrival. I was wanting/expecting a more authentic Italian restaurant but I was disappointed with this. However the food was good and the service was quick and efficient but I don't feel it was total value for money.

Wonderful meal. Fairly good service. Only fault was getting the commentary bread a bit late. Two different types of bread. Both had good flavors. Picked too big for the starter. Main was so tender and melted in you mouth. Sevice was excellent. Will definitely return to try more.

Large family gathering. 44 of us many of whom flew in from abroad. This restaurant was the perfect venue for our Friday meet up. Well organised, polite, accomodating, great service and amazing food and good wine. We really couldnt have asked for more. What a fabulous restaurant.

Quiet on a weekday lunchtime, but great nonetheless.

I was a bit worried that I had booked too early (5.30pm) before going to a show at the conference centre but the timing was perfect. Along of course, with the food and the whole meal for 4 of us. Everything was great and the bill was about £40 a head - we shared some starters, had wine, beers, mains, 3 deserts and 3 coffees. All of which was delicious, especially my sea bass ravioli and we all LOVED the ice cream.

Has a lovely meal here on a wet Thursday evening in October. We had a garlic bread with mozzarella between us for starters & it certainly did not disappoint. Very garlicky & cheesy! For mains my husband had the inferno pizza which was nicely hot as expected & I had the lasagna al forno which again was delicious. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert as there was a great selection on the menu . The staff were polite, attentive & friendly & it's a shame we don't live closer so we could come back whenever we feel like a great meal. Will definitely return when back in Harrogate. Thank you

Very nice meal. We had the calzone and a pasta dish (bucatini) with a side of courgette fries. All dishes were excellent. Great service.

Amazing place to eat. The staff was super helpful and we got seated right away on a busy night. Food was awesome!

Odd to find that there are no draft beers on offer at Brio.Only a fairly limited selection of bottled beers,cider and wine. This we found disappointing and that the drinks were served in the smallest of glasses. I had to ask twice for water for the table. For starters ,we shared an Antipasti Misto which was pretty run of the mill presentation of meat and olives and came without bread,garnish,oil or any imaginative touches to be honest. Mains were ok but again quite production line. Also the decor seems to comprise odd lighting from the 80's and dated furniture seemingly borrowed from a care home. Could do with bringing up to date. Lacking atmosphere and music too.

Attentive service, dishes came promptly. Good quality, presentation and flavour. Restaurant was full so background noise quite loud.

The restaurant was very nice I had Parma ham melon was nice ham my partner had prawn cocktail prawns were a bit watery and no color very white for the main I had halibut and vegetables the roast potatoes were warmed up but fish cooked beautifully my my partner had ham pizza pizza base fantastic but different ham to my starter thick salty and not nice

Visited this restaurant after reading previous reviews. So glad we went. Modern style with a lovely atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Good value for money. Wide age range of diners. Would recommend to families, couples or groups of friends. Think you would need to book if your group was more than 4 people during peak times. We dined at 7;30pm as a couple and got a table straightaway.

Very busy restaurant on a Wednesday evening so we were pleased we had booked. Seemed to be a lot of regular local diners. Service was very good and staff were friendly and helpful. The complimentary bread, tapenade and tomato chutney were nice. I had the Fettuccine di Mare, which was beautiful. It had lots of prawns and scallops. The sauce was delicious and light. The pasta was cooked well and the green salad side was fresh and crisp, with fennel slices which lifted it to another level. My partner had the Buffalo Mozzarella and Prosciutto Crudo pizza. Again this was delicious and had ample portions of fresh mozzarella and prosciutto. The base was thin, crisp and tasty. We couldn’t fault it. We shared a trio of gelato (Stracciatella, pistachio and biscoff). Our favourite was the pistachio, because it nice and creamy and smooth and wasn’t too sweet. We also enjoyed a nice bottle of Gavi di Gavi which was nice and fruity and light. Excellent meal and we will definitely return if we are in the areas again.

Absolutely loved our first visit here on a 2 day break in harrogate. 5 mins from crowne plaza and beautiful inside. Great food and lovely friendly staff. Portion size was great too. Reasonable prices too.

Some of the best restaurants I've experienced were ones that I stumbled upon and wandered inside on the off chance. This was one of the best restaurants I've come across, and possibly the best Italian. I was exhibiting an event at the convention centre opposite, and some fellow exhibitors happened to mention it, so I thought I would try it for myself. I was glad I did. I visited early on a Thursday evening, when the restaurant was rather quiet and the atmosphere more subdued, although it soon livened up as the evening wore and the place began to fill up. It was nice to see a good mix of clientele too - groups of work colleagues, businesspeople, couples and families with children, which is always a good sign. The decor was smart, modern and stylish, much like the cuisine (see pictures). Service was friendly and efficient, and I found all the staff overly attentive, happy to engage, yet very unobtrusive. Once seated, I was served with a basket of fresh breads which came with an olive tapenade and a rather delicious tomato chutney which I was assured was homemade. Both were excellent (see picture). Now, it is always easy to opt for the same old familiar dishes when in an Italian restaurant, but I decided to try things which were slightly different and unfamiliar. On recommendation I opted for the involtino d'asparagi starter (asparagus, parma ham and fontina cheese spring roll) served with sweet chilli. Now, I'm not sure how far spring rolls are associated with Italian cuisine, but it works! The spring rolls are rather imaginatively presented, cut diagonally, so that they look like shards, and revealing the contents. A wonderful creation and absolutely delicious (see picture). For the main course, and again on recommendation, instead of the usual tomato-based sauces, I had the ravioli asparagi e pecorino (homemade ravioli filled with asparagus and pecorino cheese) tossed in butter and sage. Conscious that this too had asparagus in it, by sheer coincidence, it too was superb (see picture). For dessert, it simply had to be the tiramisu. Now, I am something of a connoisseur when it comes to tiramisu, as my numerous reviews on this platform will no doubt testify. As it turned out, this one was quite original, a circular stack with an almond cookie stuck in the top, and a very authentic tiramisu taste (see picture). The final bill came in at just over £50 including drinks, and the only-to-be-expected 'optional' service charge, which on this occasion was set at a far more reasonable 10%. I did not object. The service was excellent throughout, and I found all the staff very accommodating in answering my questions, proposing recommendations, and even viewing my photos on Instagram, where everything I had eaten had already been posted before I left. Quite simply excellent all around. Highly recommended and well worth the effort. A return visit is a must when I am next in Harrogate.

I love this restaurant. The staff are lovely, very accommodating, helpful and welcoming. The good is great: a menu with lots of choice, and you are able to make changes without fuss. The ingredients are good quality, resulting in really decent food. I'm already looking forward to going again.

Really nice Italian restaurant, I would recommend it based on our experience this evening. Food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Staff were very friendly without being too intrusive. Prices are not cheap or expensive, but are decent value for money. I would be more than happy to visit again if we are in the area.

A very busy restaurant, great buzzing atmosphere, speedy waiters who still manage to give great service and decent banter. Food nothing short of excellent, I mean outstandingly good. Doesn’t brake the bank, on the whole one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to.

Superb food Friendly service Nice atmosphere

I ordered a pizza for take out. 15 minutes later, on a busy night, a proper pizza was ready. Perfectly made. For an Italian, I can say this is a correct pizza. Money in the bank. I rarely eat Italian food outside of Italy. But after having the pizza, I returned the next day for dinner. The pasta was correct, excellent, accompanied with fried zucchini. The wine, "Primitivo" was very good. The coffee and grappa to follow were among the best I've ever had. Top shelf.

3rd visit over several years. This time found service rushed. An authentic family run, friendly Italian restaurant. Found the pasta dishes were mainly king prawn based, so was restricted to a sausage based dish, still very tasty. Previous visites had more meat dishes. The Tirimasu was too creamy for my taste. Overall it is always an enjoyable visit.

Great experience from arrival to leaving with warm welcoming staff and great food. Everything was hot and tasty. Love the bread and tapenade to eat while deciding what to order. Me and my partner wanted to share a pizza and they kindly brought it out already split in two. This I thought was a very good touch and I appreciated this. Only reason for 4 star review is we were with a big party and split the bill and when I got home I realised I’d been charged an extra £10 in error. I will certainly return.

Probably the best restaurant in Harrogate.

Great choice of food from starters to puds and alcoholic drinks too. The food was very tasty and nice to eat Italian food different from other Italian restaurants. We liked the open kitchen and that the chef came roun chatting to tables where I guess he knew the people given the chat. We went on a Sunday evening and would advise booking ahead to guarantee a table. Service was included in the bill.

Another fantastic meal here with the family. They’re always so welcoming and friendly. Service is brilliant / the food is always piping hot and tasty. Great atmosphere. They’re not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. You’ll never be disappointed and I can understand why they consistently receive 5 star reviews.

We don’t live in Harrogate so it’s always a special trip to go to Gianni’s and we are ‘foodies’ and never disappointed. We esp enjoy the fish platter to share and the homemade ravioli. This visit we took our 2 grandsons (9&6 yrs) who were welcomed and had lovely rapport with the waiters. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Eating out is no longer cheap. This restaurant consistently serves excellent food, albeit quite expensive. Good choice for a special occasion.

We had a very good time here. They fitted us in on an hour window and we did it in good time. The food was great the service was great and the people were great. A lively noisy bustling place and a cracking night out. Thank You.

First of all they squeezed us in and gave us a one hour window, but we've done it many times, so, no problem. The place was happy loud and atmospheric, full of happy folks all enjoying themselves. Yet, we had to be quick, the drinks were on the table almost immediately and the food wasn't far behind. Before we get to the quality, it is important to say that the food was piping hot, and I mean all of it was hot, where does that happen these days? The service was outstanding then the food was excellent, did I mention it was hot. I had a Stroganoff, their presentation was a little different to my usual interpretation of Stroganoff but OMG. It was rather special, the good lady had a chicken thingy and she wolfed it down an then dived into my dinner. And, enjoyed both. On minute 59 we paid and they immediately pointed out the service charge on the bill, but this was too good of an evenings experience so we topped it up a little. WHAT A BLOODY GREAT FIND. We love this place. It has been a family favourite for over 20 years (in one guise or another). A true family run restaurant showcasing the very best of the genre. An exceptional kitchen with a culinary king at the helm (aka Dad), front of house is expertly managed by Marco (handsome first born), and what he doesn't know about hosting would hardly fill a thimble. Seriously, flowery language aside, place your trust in these bastions of Italian hospitality and be assured of an exceptional dining experience.

Excellent food and atmosphere. The food is cooked to order - none of the prepackaged ready made meals like other restaurants serve. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Portions could be with being slightly bigger.

I only had one night in Harrogate and chose this restaurant at random. The food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. I spend a lot of time in Italy and this place successfully achieved the ambience and experience of a genuine Italian restaurant. It was a joyous celebration of good food.

Found ourselves without dinner on a Friday night and turned up without a reservation after 8.30pm after being told we were too late in the evening at another nearby restaurant. We’re not local so we were worried that perhaps dining late wasn’t a thing in Harrogate. Luckily for us we were shown to a table immediately by very friendly and attentive staff. The menu was varied and not a spaghetti bolognaise in sight! I had a beautiful sausage, mushroom and chilli pappardelle and my friend ordered a lovely seafood pasta. We honestly couldn’t fault a thing.

It became clear as last diners to arrive (we could have booked a later table) we weren't expected to have a relaxed meal. We were rushed from the start, even though we weren't in the mood to linger anyway. Staff were closing down the place around us. It irked us. Wine list very expensive for an informal pizza and pasta place. Won't rush back.

On a recent visit my colleague had a glass of wine spilt over him by the waiter. Apologies from him but not from either of the owners who were aware of the accident. No reduction on the bill which I refused to pay - then...

The menu contains options to suit all tastes. We ate very well.

Always walked past here and wanted to go in. Ra.o is wheelchair friendly. All staff are friendly attentive and professional. Good atmosphere. Good food. There was gluten free too and the kids meal was very good. The pizza was huge. Would of fed my hubs...

Visited before we went to a concert at the Convention centre. I found the restaurant online and booked in advance, which I now believe is essential. It really is little gem… great atmosphere, great food and great staff. Highly recommend.

Whenever we are in Harrogate we visit Brio. It is consistently excellent and worth travelling forty miles for the experience. None of our local restaurants can touch it.
