Absolutely excellent wee cafe run by the nicest woman

A hankering for a bacon roll resulted in a visit to this little café after reading about it on a blog. First, the positives. I had a filled roll with bacon, sausage, fried egg and brown sauce and it was delicious. It's hard to find nice GF bread rolls at the best of times, so it's always a plus when you come across one that's soft and tasty. The staff are friendly, charming and attentive and create a nice vibe in the somewhat rundown space. Now, the negatives. I've been here twice now, and each time there has been quite a lengthy wait to both order, and get, the food (about 20-30 mins in my experience). This is just long enough to stop me making this a more regular visit. If the food could be produced quicker, I'd definitely visit more often. It's also a bit hit and miss whether the place is open or not, though they do update their Instagram page on the day if they are closed, but again, this makes it hard to plan more regular visits.

Superb for coeliacs. Excellent breakfast, bakewell tart is amazing. Lovely serivce and it's very reasonably priced. I wil miss it, have to come back to Edinburgh again!!

Me and my friend (Gluten Allergy) came down last Saturday for breakfast and the place was so cute and cosy and the staff were so kind and attending and friendly . And the food was so delicious and healthy, considering my friend didn't have any weird reaction with the food (happens a lot here in London). Sadly, were back in London, continuing with our work but when I come back to Edinburgh, I will definitely visit here again . Thank you for your service . ☺️

The friendliest café I’ve ever visited! It’s a bit small inside but the service was the friendliest I’ve ever experienced. Very welcoming atmosphere and the food … oh my god .. I just ate the walnut cake and I thought I’m in heaven. The paninis are also super delicious. Absolute recommended for people like me who can’t eat something with gluten. Yummiiieee

The service here is absolutely impeccable but it is gets very busy, especially for how cramped the cafe it is. Definitely better suited for takeaway. Good for a quick bite as someone who is gluten free but not worth going out of your way for just for comfort sake. The food is basic but 100% gluten free. I did appreciate them asking about milk and cheese preferences where appropriate. It's obvious they care about all allergen requirements and not just gluten free. Coffee is definitely an afterthought to the food here so if you're looking for a breakfast panini and a warm drink if grab the panini and then a drink down the street as you are surrounded by speciality coffee shops.

What a great place for brekky! We popped in on the way to the rugby and were really looked after extremely well by the team but the front of house man, Matt, went way beyond with the attention. Nothing was too much. Not just with us but with others who were in the cafe. I'd wholly recommend.

Fantastic freshly prepared food. We had the breakfasts and it set us up for the day. Reasonably priced, fresh & flavoursome with the bonus of being gluten free. If they didn’t tell ya you wouldn’t know it! All topped off with wonderful customer service

Absolutely amazing food.Highly recommend that you go and try. We had the full breakfast.We didn't have to ask and were supplied with extra drinks.We finished off our meal with one of the delicious cakes on offer.

We specifically sought this place out during our stay in Edinburgh and it didn't disappoint. Amazing customer service from the owners, who were so cheerful and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. We ordered a chicken & halloumi salad, a pasta dish, a bacon roll, two hot drinks, two cans of pop and a cake and it came to £26. Most places that offer gluten free try to exploit the customer and triple the price, but that certainly wasn't the case here. All of the food was delicious and presented beautifully. It's such a shame there aren't more of these cafes around. Thank you GF for such a fantastic lunch, it made our day.

Perfect. All the food they offer is gluten-free. From different types of brownies, cakes and sweets for breakfast to panninis, rolls, pastas, soup of the day, salads, etc... All very delicious and at a reasonable price. The owner is a charming woman, very attentive and pleasant. A wonderful place in Edinburgh if you have celiac disease.

When I found GF Cafe I was so so happy, but when I found out their entire menu was COMPLETELY gf, I was buzzing! They have such a great menu, from full Scottish breakfast, to hot filled rolls and from paninis, pastas to homemade cakes. Honestly I could not recommend gf cafe enough. The man who served us was lovely and very helpful which we valued. The cafe itself is small and cosy, perfect for a quiet lunch spot. I would 100% recommended GF Cafe on your next visit to Edinburgh!

Absolutely perfect for gluten free with a whole menu available. Customer service was great and very informative.

A quaint and cosy little cafe that is 100% Gluten Free, which is obviously perfect for those with those dietary needs. A fine selection of typical breakfast items; hot filled rolls, panini, soup, pasta, full breakfast, coffee, tea. Two notable takeaways are how affordable the menu is, especially given the fact they cater to GF (which most places charge a premium for). The second is how friendly the staff are, very attentive. My only constructive criticism is that the coffee quality is so-so.

Amazing place and a must visit for anyone with a gluten intolerance. The customer service is excellent, myself and my partner have visited numerous times and the lady behind the counter is always very pleasant and accommodating. The chef clearly takes pride in his work and this is represented by the quality food.

My partner and I (who is GF) went there every morning during our stay in Edinburgh August 2022. The staff were always so lovely and welcoming, the food and was amazing, the freshness of the breakfast panini's and rolls were incredible. We're planning on coming back again on our next trip. Would highly recommend anyone to go visit them, GF or not.

A lovely, cosy and welcoming café with a totally gluten free menu. Me and my gluten eating wife visited for breakfast during a weekend trip to Edinburgh, and both opted for a gluten free breakfast roll. We both agreed that the food and the service were divine! I even took away a couple of cakes for later on. Super tasty and safe - what more could a coeliac want!

Ordered soup of the day but didn't show up. My son is with food allergies of gluten, dairy, nuts. Confirmed with staff before ordering the chicken & bacon pasta. Yet he needed to go to hospital after eating.

I stopped here for a leek and potato soup and a lovely dairy free biscuit 🙂 loved it. Will definitely go back now that I discovered this place. It is difficult to find GF options and having a Café where you know everything is gluten free is amazing!

A coeliac’s dream sandwich counter! The service is excellent and the menu covers a range of salads, rolls, paninis, and pastas - as well as excellent breakfast choices. A complete gem and I’m so glad I found it! I liked the sit-in meal so much that I also ordered a roll to take away for later.

We were looking for gluten free bakeries when visiting Edinburgh (from the States). We were able to visit this cafe on our last day of the visit, unfortunately our schedule didn't allow us to be around the area during their open hours. Very friendly staff, and delicious pastries that my gluten intolerant partner enjoyed!

Wow to find a totally gluten free place to eat was like finding a diamond. Delicious and tempting dishes all reasonably priced. A lovely lady preceded over the cafe and was informative, caring and empathic. The food was served promptly. So nice to find gluten free dishes you cannot usually have when eating out. This made my day .

Ordered a GF Pasta and a salad, they were both delicious! Everything is gluten free, so we had a huge range of dishes to choose from. Also had numerous dairy free options. The deserts were also very good and service was excellent. Thank you! Will be back very soon.

A small, unassuming, family-run eatery that offers gluten-free breakfast and lunch. There is soup, pasta, bagels or paninis, which you can buy there to take home. For a little sweet hunger, there are small gluten-free cakes. I was there with 2 friends, one of whom unfortunately has celiac disease, and we all 3 liked it very, very much. I recommend it for everyone, not just for celiacs

Myself and my partner visited this cafe on our last day visiting Edinburgh and I regret not finding it sooner! Staff were so kind. Not used to having so many options as a coeliac, it was perfect! Would 100% come back to Edinburgh just for this little cafe.

Great little Café for celiac. Absolutely everything ist glutenfree, you can get a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage , potato based waffles and bagel. Or just get a panini or roll with any filling, soup or even a small variety of Cake an sich things. There's 3-4 small tables that seat 1-2 person's each but we managed as a group of 3. They also cater to vegans, dairy free and other allergens.

This is my favourite cafe I visited on my trip to Edinburgh. As a coeliac it was just amazing to eat with my family and not have to worry. It's also very refreshing not to have to ask lots of questions about cross contamination. The food was delicious and reasonably priced to my mind. It was also great to be able to try a Scottish treat, there were a number of sweet treats on offer, I had an Empire biscuit. Delicious food, highly recommend

I have never been to a better gluten free cafe!!! The owners are incredibly kind and the food tastes INCREDIBLE! As a gluten free human from the states whose used to all baked goods tasting like cardboard, this place is quite literally a miracle in my eyes. They know what they’re doing! THANK YOU FOR THE STELLAR MORNING IN EDINBURGH!

It’s a rare thing when you get have gluten free food that’s so tasty, you immediately double check whether you’ve made a mistake. The paninis are wonderful, the baked goods delicious, and the folks in the shop are lovely.

Came up to Edinburgh for a course and being a coeliac, I was over the moon when I found this place so close to the course location. Unfortunately it was a painful experience. The 2 days I went, they got the order wrong. The wait was longer than one would expect for a simple panini. I was given someone else's order because I enquired how long my order would take. The chef seemed overwhelmed with all the orders coming in. Its a small place but clearly a lot of business coming in, but their system is not working, in my opinion. The food was OK, of course the fact that its all gluten free it's a great reassurance, but the food was nothing special and the pain of waiting and getting wrong orders was more memorable than the food. Very disappointed, was hoping for a great experience. Think they need a bigger space, more staff and to fine tune their system. If had another option around, would not have gone back.

The staff are really nice and I appreciate that everything is cooked fresh, but, it would be good if people were told the wait, before they have paid for their order. We were told 15 minutes for our order but it actually ended up being close to 45. The food was alright but the whole thing was tainted by missing our next activity as our order took so long. If something is pre made and ready then go for it, but if you are on a timed lunch break etc then ask about the wait time before you pay.

They ran out of some items because of the fringe, but the things we got were delicious! Staff was lovely too :)
