This place is warm, cosy, friendly, and makes simple v tasty, well seasoned food. The prices are good, the service comes with a smile. It's a bit like being looked after by your your grandma who likes to spoil you. This is not fine dining. It's better than that, as it's like being part of their family.

Had a birthday meal for 12 in here today. Reasonable price, nice food, good portion sizes, family from an hours drive away all said the food was lovely and want to try the other dishes at some point. Girls were lovely Louise did a great job at looking after us and so did the other girl whose name I didn’t catch sorry!

Had a lunch here today for 12 of us. Girls serving (Louise & one other) were great and couldn’t be more helpful. Our family would like to try the place again with a smaller group and normal menu at some point!

Service was good and so was the food apart from too much salt in the steak and ale pie. Pleasant waitress who conveyed my remarks to the chef. Restricted time because of covid restrictions but will pleasant.

For a small country village this is a great pub selling great food at a very good price. Not far off the main road to Glasgow well worth the half mile detour

Went for a quick lunch as I am new to the area. Old man style pub inside. Food was average for a cheap pub. Went to the ladies it was in a bad way and flushed the toilet washed my hands and went to open the inside door leading to the other door out to the dinning area to find that the toilet I had just flushed was pouring up through the floor it was vile! I left immediately without finishing my meal! STAY CLEAR

Family event. Friendly staff. Very local so nothing fancy. Food was a very good standard like prawn cocktail, generous portions of beef in the pie and yummy tablet ice cream.

A party of 4 dined at the Gateside in for a Christmas Sunday Roast. Two of us had Home made Pate and Oat cakes to start, Turkey with all the trimmings x 2 and Steak Pie x 2. Followed by 1 sticky toffee pudding and Ice Cream and a cheese board and crackers. Plenty of Mash potatoes Roast potatoes and a large dish of vegetables for sharing along with roast parsnips dressed in honey. Couldn't fault a single thing, portions were plentiful and suited to those with a large appetite. We will be back!!!

Nice little pub in the village of Gateside. It's the only pub and eatery in the village but the town of Beith is close by. Lovely meal was had here and very reasonably priced. Also has a beer garden.

After moving to the area a few years ago I have visited this pub a few times as it is within walking distance from home. When I first started using the pub I found the staff friendly and the beer consistently good (Deuchars IPA). Over the last 2 years I have visited the pub a handful of times with friends and family and every time have been disappointed and left feeling embarrassed that I have taken people there. After visiting earlier this evening and once again having a really bad pint and finding the bar staff very unhelpful I will have to draw a line and given up. Real shame as it could be a really nice pub.

Table booked on 24/12/2019 for 9 people to have lunch on 5th Jan 2019. We were told when ordering our drinks that they had only one can of diet coke!! Bad start. One hour after our arrival no food had been brought to the table. Eventually starters were served. Food average. When we asked for salad cream for a salad it was to be told that they didn't have any! I ordered fish and chips and was told they didn't have any fish ' only scampi. Attitude to customers was take it or leave it! I felt they had let us down and Dalry down. We will not go back there again.

For a start, I don’t understand why a commercial building built in the late 90’s doesn’t have a lift given my guess of the average age of their clientele. We went for tea and a scone with my mum who is recovering from getting a new knee. We were told that we could have a table in the foyer cos the restaurant wasn’t accessible. They then changed their mind and told us that we couldn’t order a tea and a scone because there was already 6 people in their restaurant and it would be at least 30 minutes before they could put in a new order. There were 4 people in the empty shop, two in the foyer and presumably numerous staff in the cafe. Between them they couldn’t get us a tea and a scone. We won’t be back.
