Gastrobus in South Hams

£3.70 for a surprisingly small scoop of ice-cream, which was grainy and not at all worth the money. I went for the lemon cheesecake flavour, which was supposed to be award-winning, but was actually pretty unpleasant. The girl serving was friendly at least.

Set back a little from the sands, and serving excellent and freshly-prepared "street food" from a sufficiently varied menu, the Gastrobus hits all the right spots. One van serves ices and the like, the other "mains"; the prices are very reasonable for the location and the quality. (They also get it right when you ask for a variation, like "no cheese"!) Recommended.

Lovely range of baguettes available for lunch of which I had the Mozzarella, pesto, salami and rocket which I felt lent itself to being toasted and so when I saw that they had a panini press I asked if it could be toasted only to be informed that it couldn't due to allergy reasons... only one press! So I accepted this reason only to witness a customer having their sandwich toasted. When I enquired as to why this was I was told the sandwich was for a member of staff. I was not concerned who the person was but that the panini press was used having been told that it couldn't be. I enquired as to why they even had one if it couldn't be used ( food standard recommends two sandwich/panini toasters, blenders etc to avoid cross contamination). The person serving said it was a management decision and he just does as he's told. No apology for the 'one rule for one and another rule for someone else'. The member of staff who did have her sandwich toasted couldn't be more apologetic about it but it wasn't for her to apologise. I felt the customer service here was appalling and I would not buy from them again due to the lack of customer care and arguing from the staff member who served me

Awesome - last time we came my son, said it was the best burger in the world, so I tried the next day after surfing, but they stop serving at 3 pm so missed it. He wasn’t wrong, as I had one yesterday and it was so damn good, I had another again today. Not cheap, £9 for a burger £11 for the burger bacon and and cheese, but worth every penny. Miles better than the meal we had at The Sloop Inn

Only food van in Bantham beach other than a pizza van. Short summary Atmosphere - busy located in the beach car park Staff and management - friendly and helpful Kid friendly - has a small kid’s menu and the portion size is big Menu and range selection - good selection and really good cakes Cleanliness - yes Note - a bit pricey but the cakes are really yummy with a coffee.

We went, as a family, to Bantham and on the way home stopped for a bite to eat and a drink. Its a great idea and the actual bus looks fun but the queues were very long and slow moving. Also the prices are actually very expensive, with the children and extended family all wanting something! Probably wouldn't stop again...

Turned up to what appeared to be an empty serving counter, however there were 2 people hiding behind the display. My partner had to ask if we could be served. Clearly not happy that they had our custom they begrudgingly served us. Instantly being told that the burgers weren't available we were served a pre-packed stale sandwich. We then waited 20 mins for a 'warm' dog all for £15.

Waited 50 mins for a £7 burger, which when it arrived was red in the middle. Anyone who knows food hygiene knows processed meat must be cooked all the way through. Steaks can be red but not burgers. Was so angry with wait and then raw burger that the whole lot went in the bin. Don’t go there unless you want to be ill all night. Won’t ever go again.

I ordered a coffee for £3.90 and the man who owns the bus was so rude to me, the coffee I was hoping to make up for the rude owner was none better! 2 mouths of coffee and a lot of foam on to was a total rip off! Don’t waste your money and this guy needs to learn some manners

Came very sunny Friday before Whit half-term just after 11.30am. Stopped doing bacon sandwiches as could not cope with bacon and burgers on the grill and wanted to do burgers for lunch. Exception made for customer in front and still serving others. Must have frightened the rest of the customers away as VERY quiet 30 mins later! Had a coffee but no food..Used to come every time down here but will bring a picnic in future.

Apparently only open at weekends … gutted as assumed we could get breakfast and drink while walking dogs …. Got fleeced for car parking as well … dogs loved the beach but please keep opening times right … family had turned up for day with limited drinks and no food !!!!

A great idea to have a cool food court style offering, but erratic opening hours mean you are better off taking your own picnic otherwise you can easily end up thirsty and hungry!

We really enjoyed this experience. Lots of great food choices in a beautiful location. Make the trip, you won't be disappointed.

Very expensive food, we were expecting something tasty, £7.50 for a hot dog in old bun, really disapponting, not recommended!

We didn't eat at the pizza truck as we were put off by how the staff were speaking. The two guys were loudly slagging off their boss because they disagreed with her business decisions. But the worst part was how they were speaking about women, very objectifying and disrespectful. It was incredibly inappropriate. That being said, the woman in the ice cream truck (the pink one) was super friendly and professional.

Great place to grab some breakfast or lunch! Amazing selection from burgers to crab baguettes and really great coffee! Definitely the best spot for food in Bantham!

The best buttie served on the beach. No fuss about what this is, it’s just a great, simple food, made well and served from a van . Loved the meal and the authenticity.

Followed signs on the road to Bantham, very excited for pizza, been thinking about it all day. Only to then find out they hadn't turned up despite the road sign saying "Bantham today 2-8pm". Tried to ring & text, no one replied. Very disappointed. Found...

Despite being busy and there being a wait of 20 mins the hot dog was really tasty. Great to have such good food a short walk from the beach.

So I’ve found three of these great little pop up beach busses, Bantham, Thurlestone and South Milton. Serving the nations best three beaches and offering hand cooked pizzas and burgers that are amazing. Best locations and well worth a visit.

The food is v expensive and service awful. The cashier fobbed me off when asked what flavour ice creams they did and took money for 2...after queuing a 2nd time (to get the ice creams!) I found out why....they only had 4 options which weren't particularly child friendly (unless your children happen to like coffee or coconut ice cream....)....due to queues requesting a refund wasn't realistic so we had to go for the least worst option which we'd never have bought usually ....and no the children didn't like them. Afraid we won't be going back.

When we went to Bantham for a beach day, we were really pleased to find 3 “Gastrobus” vans serving the holiday makers. One for coffee/snacks; one ice creams and one for pizzas! Bring it on!!!!AND all 3 were great! The lengthy queues showed how popular they were too! Long may it continue!

Had the afternoon on the beach & stopped by for lunch. As a vegi they instantly explained that they would cook my burger separately & on parchment paper. It was so tasty .. best vegi burger I’ve had. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals too.. great food & service :))

Perhaps I am super fussy, in light of the amount of positive reviews, but look.. I cook a mean burger myself, okay? I pride myself on my own barbecued specials. I just did not think the Gastrobuses version was particularly amazing. I found the beef pate far too thick, (I'm talking thickness of a brick). I would have sliced that Angus beef in half and savoured more flavour. The rocket leaves (or whatever the garnish was) just didn't gel. I wish vendors would stop trying to incorporate up-market ingredients on traditional fastfood - an iceberg or sweat leaf would have done. Also crucially – white onion only please, not red shallots from 'the south of France'. Despite being 5 miles high, the dominant favour I took away from their burger was in fact cheese. I could not taste anything else. I suspect this is because they are using an unprocessed, like cheddar. Better for you but does not lend a great taste to most burgers. Also the bap was premium, more like a bagel than seeded bun. There is no denying it was nice food, piping hot and well prepared, service was great but is simply not my interpretation of 'what a burger should taste like'. No mayonnaise or special sauce mix, difficult to chow down on, weird texture. If you think gourmet and traditional fast food mix well, I say sample the Gastrobus offerings, they are not for me.

I went to Bantham Beach yesterday when temperatures were extremely high and can only speak well of the helpful and friendly attitude of the people working in the bus in such scorching conditions. They kept their spirits high despite some other customers next to me being rather less than gracious (maybe it was the heat!?)I was impressed with how the staff tried their best to give me the kind of burger that suited my special diet, even reading me the ingredients listed on the bottles of the condiments used so I could see if there was anything in it I shouldnt have. The coffee was brilliant, and thats praise coming from a coffee snob!

Just because you own a funky bus and serve cheap food at stupid prices it doesn’t make you cool - not impressed with the way they treat people or their prices

Everyone has to pay 6.50 quids to get in to the car park. So if you are only coming for food, that’s the price for a burger. We walked around the beach. As it’s low tide, we had a good walk. The view is amazing.After the walk, we cake for our lunch. If you are not a burger fan, choices are still there but food doesn’t seem to look as good though.We had a blue cheese burger which looked and tasted good. We also had a hallumi cheese salad which looked and tasted very average. It’s a convenient spot to grab some food if you are hungry on the beach but I surely won’t be returning just for the gastrobus.

Unfortunately I have had to give a low rating for the Gastrobus based on the service I received. They were advertising a vegan foccacia on the blackboard menu (I am vegetarian but like to eat vegan where possible) but when I asked the guy on the till was unsure if it was available. He bellowed across to a colleague and then I had to wait some time before an answer was confirmed, and in the meantime the guy avoided all eye contact with me and didn't really talk to me at all directly. So the vegan item was out of stock and I ordered veggie instead, then i ended up being charged for both. The guy saw his mistake but couldn't work out how to do card refund so I had to get cash back, and I'm pretty sure he didn't pass my order on to the cook as I then had to wait quite a long time for the food (they weren't busy). I asked about cake, as they had it at the front of the bus - he just said 'help yourself' but didn't offer a plate/paper bag or napkin. I also had to scrabble around for milk for my coffee as the jugs were empty and the bottle was sitting further back on the counter. In the end, the coffee was great, the cakes delicious and the veggie foccacia - mushroom, blue cheese, rocket and chilli jam - excellent, it's just a real shame that the service was so poor.

This is our second visit and we were not disappointed. To have good food whether your on the beach or walking along the coastal path is great.

Best coffee we’ve had in ages! Husband had a black Americano and I had a flat white, both excellent. Indulged in almond pear slice and something apple/cinnamon Yummy. Both homemade and delicious. Thanks team Gastrobus!

Gastrobus is in the car park at Bantham Beach on the Bantham Estate. Having been lured by the food photos on the Gastrobus website I can say that the real thing matches the photos! We had burgers and hotdogs followed by cakes and hot chocolate after a beach walk. The menu is extensive and served efficiently by a small staff in the tiny bus - if you have seen the movie “Chef” you will get the idea.To get to Gastrobus you need to pay £3.50 to park at the Bantham Estate car park - that is for all day parking and well worth it to visit the enormous, clean beach (very popular with surfers).

What a find! The best burger we’ve had in ages, fantastic quality beef & brioche bun & really reasonable.. superb hot dogs & a decent coffee.. very friendly, definitely worth a pit stop!

La playa estaba llena, testamento a sus diez mejores playas de Europa clasificación. Mi mujer fue a la parada de autobús para comprobar la apertura y volvió con las noticias cierra a las 17.00 . I always stop off here for lunch after dunking myself in the surf. The burgers and BLTs always hit the spot, and the cakes are a thing of wonderment. Friendly staff and great coffee make this a great place to eat on the beach

Hemos estado aquí hoy y los 3 de nosotros disfrutamos mucho de la comida! No sólo las típicas hamburguesas estándar y tocino , sazonadas, todo tenía su propio toque en, y estaba delicioso. Mi marido caprichos él mismo como una hamburguesa y los pedidos de entendidos uno todos los sitios a los que ir (Nueva York, Praga, Londres, etc) ha clasificado la hamburguesa de Bantham lo mejor es probado jamás! Tuve el brioche tirada de cerdo, que era tan agradable y nuestra hija tenía el rollo de huevo de cursi que también era muy buena :) los pasteles son para morirse y el servicio fantástico! Me encantó la playa aquí también nuestra comida y nos llevó a la playa como su a sólo 1 minutos a pie. En general hoy ha hecho que nuestras vacaciones fueran realmente especial con comida, playa y sol y mi marido no nos dejaron ir a casa antes que llega a comer otra hamburguesa aquí!!

Bantham playa fue recientemente votado por Lonely Planet como una de las diez mejores playas de Europa. As a young family we love the beach at bantham, and the gastrosbus is part of the reason why we love it! Great coffee, amazing cakes, cheese straws from heaven and possibly the best burger ever.

Después de pagar el aparcamiento encontramos una mala selección panecillo y té en este autobús sin ni siquiera una vista del mar. No es un bollo en vista a pesar de ser la hora del té. No vale la pena la parada.

Así que mucho más lindas de patatas fritas y lank-frente al hamburguesas grasientas grises. Sólo tuvimos tiempo para una bebida rápida y helados para el viaje de regreso a casa pero estaba deliciosa! Tuve un latte chai que era picante y calentamiento - justo lo que necesitábamos después de su enfriamiento, literalmente, en el mar. Mi esposo e hijas disfrutamos del creamiest bañeras más deliciosos de helado. Un lujo para el viaje de regreso a casa!

Nos quedamos sorprendidos y encantados de descubrir los Gastrobus durante un viaje de un día a la hermosa Bantham Beach la semana pasada. Es cómo cada van de hamburguesa me encantaría estar: taza de café y un pastel en su llegada, hamburguesas gourmet/baps para el almuerzo y un helado en la tarde!

Muy bien presentado, con un menú muy bueno y la comida deliciosa. Paramos un gastrointestinal perro de las ofertas especiales y una hamburguesa de Bantham. Muy tentado por las tartas. Todo preparado a pedido y utilizamos la calidad de sus ingredientes. El servicio era muy acogedor y amable. Las hamburguesas y perritos calientes teníamos la opción de desnudos, con salsa, todos los adornos o a algunos. Todo muy acogedor. Sin duda lo recomiendo!

Fuimos a la playa de Bantham y caminar por la costa camino a Thurlestone y vuelta. Primera vez en años y nos las arreglamos para dejar comida y bebida en casa. Así que, muy agradablemente sorprendidos al encontrar las Gastrobus en el aparcamiento de la playa. También fuimos con un trozo de tarta llovizna y zanahoria tarta limón que eran los mejores que habíamos comido en cualquier lugar.

Whether you're after a morning coffee, lunchtime meal, a snack or afternoon tea and cake, the bus really has it all. Fantastic to find such a great selection of excellent food right on the beach.

Los Gastrobus lo hizo todo el día perfecto para nosotros - café excelente, con una gran variedad en el menú, y el personal es amable y servicial. Mi marido disfrutamos su hamburguesa de queso azul, y me pareció que mi hash brown". cálido con queso de cabra, Roasted Peppers, etc. fue una de las mejores comidas que he tenido en una situación al aire libre. Había un montón de mesas y sillas cuando estuvimos allí la última semana de abril, pero me imagino que hace mucho más concurrido en los meses de verano, por lo que alquilar unas sillas plegables probablemente sería una buena idea.

Caminamos hoy de South Milton Sands de Bantham y encontré las Glastrobus. Tenía la Bantham hamburguesa con queso, mmmmm azul simplemente delicioso. Mi esposa tenía algo de tarta de limón que es igual de bonito y ambos tuvimos un poco de café. El sol salió y fue una agradable sorpresa a este lugar para comer. Asegúrate de que te dejan sin aliento también será bien vale la pena! Y encantador para charlar con Jimmy desde Canning Town, una paisana mía londinense disfrutando de su retiro en un lugar encantador.

conduciendo en busca de un lugar para almorzar y casi nos dimos por vencidos. Cuando boom vimos un tablón de anuncios en el aparcamiento. El hombre de seguridad que deben darle una oportunidad. No sólo descubrimos una playa increíble, pero también tenía hamburguesas increíbles. Muy, muy lindo lugar. Recomiendo encarecidamente en un día soleado, seguido de un paseo por la playa.

Bantham es una de las más maravillosas playas en el sur oeste, y la llegada de las Gastrobus ha hecho aún mejor. Habíamos visitado los Gastrobus 2 días antes y pedimos cuando estaban en Bantham Beach (siendo octubre esperaba que ellos no estar allí todo el tiempo). "Cada día hasta las 5 pm" fue la respuesta. En nuestro último día por lo tanto (un lunes ) 3 de nosotros caminamos más específicamente de Thurlestone hotel, específicamente por algo de comida caliente en la playa (el clima sigue siendo genial). Llegamos a las 3,40 y me dijeron que la comida caliente estaba terminado y lo estaban cerrando en breve. Cuando pregunté es la mujer encantadora detrás del mostrador dijo " ¿por qué no lees la junta" que de hecho indicaba claramente que estaban abiertas hasta las 5 de la tarde y que la comida caliente estaba disponible hasta las 4 pm. Cuando me señalamos, me aconsejaron que tuve malinterpretar ( ! ). Por lo tanto yo tengo ni idea de si la comida que se sirve es de muy alta calidad o nada mejor que un café de hamburguesa grasienta. C'est la vie!

Tenía una hamburguesa de Bantham y una hamburguesa, ambos eran de primera categoría. crujientes bap, sabrosa hamburguesa muy bien cocinado de luz, la mermelada de cebolla, beicon, ensalada y así sucesivamente. El desafío es cómo para comer. Sólo se aceptan haría un desastre y lo disfrutamos. Fantástico entorno justo al lado de la playa. Volveremos por las súper jugarnos quién iba de queso y las grandes rollos de salchicha consistentes.

Great cheese burger & gluten free bacon wrap at the Bistro Bus at Bantham today. Very good coffee & a superb piece of millionaires shortbread. Just wonderful. It was raining but the lady serving us was very friendly & happy. Cant wait to go again.

Tuvimos un tiempo estupendo en la playa, disfrutar del surf, los padres disfrutando del sol, perro fue tener una siesta.
