Gassy's in Cardiff

Lovely little gem, friendly staff, good value bottomless brunch with LOTS of options for everyone including good drink options! We very much enjoyed ourselves. Classic pub like atmosphere. Would have been 5 star, but the toilets were a little smelly But not awful. And, what pub has good toilets anyway!? The rest of the place was clean!! That's what matters.

Been here a few times, but mainly for WWE watch parties, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Food service was quite slow but only 1 person on as late night. They seem to have a whole host of other stuff going on, which we haven't been to as we dont live in Cardiff.

Very quiet bar. Advertises as dog friendly but depends which manager is on shift. Was refused entry with a small dog in a bag and informed by bouncers that although it advertises as dog friendly it’s on a manager by manager basis. Poorly run, poorly managed.

Me and my friends went here for brunch on Sunday morning when everywhere else in this area was packed while Gassy’s was empty… the reason for this later made sense to us 😅 Tried to order through the app initially and I wouldn’t need to leave this review if I’d been able to, but for some reason there’s no breakfast/brunch on there so I couldn’t. I wasn’t really hungry and the other brunch options are very limited and didn’t appeal to me so I just wanted a few of the add on options, like hash browns and an egg, so I asked the man at the bar if I could order this and he told me I couldn’t. Disappointed by this, I ordered a breakfast butty instead. When our food arrived, I found out one of my friends had done almost exactly what I wanted to do and had actually been allowed. I asked the bar man why this was and apparently because of the way I’d worded my request, he’d misunderstood what I wanted to do, but hadn’t asked any further questions to clarify or try to get me what I wanted. After having to go back and forth with him for a while in a really awkward and what I felt was a rude encounter that I haven’t had to have with someone in hospitality, he eventually apologised in what felt like a really insincere way. I ended up paying £6 for a bacon, egg and cheese (I don’t know if the cheese was from a tube or just entirely melted, but it was orange and tasted really cheap and fake) made with pre-sliced white mass manufactured bread… If I’m going to pay £6 for a breakfast sandwich, I’d at least want it to be made with nice bread like some sourdough or a nice bun. Also one of my friends ended up having cheese in her butty that she hadn’t expected because it wasn’t listed on the menu and she is lactose intolerant.

One of the worst student venues in Cardiff. The drinks can be reasonably priced but the place is an absolute mess. The men's urinal trough is constantly over flowing with 100s of peoples urine because it keeps getting blocked. Certain staff can be rude and unaccommodating to peoples needs. Floors are disgusting and not regularly cleaned so you're either sticking to the floor or slipping on it. Music choice is below average if they even decide to turn it on. Make the 10 minute journey in to Cardiff centre and you will find many better establishments. If you end up here you're more than likely scraping the bottom of the barrel. Absolutely appalling service! A table was booked through the website. Turned up no table prepared. Put underneath a TV and told pull the table out if you like but don't block the food coming out of the kitchen. Fantastic place to watch sports events! They were very accommodating, and the food was stellar. That said, need more tables. Or make table booking clear with the event organisers they work with: we didn't know tables needed to be booked so we were on a corner table. That said? Didn't ruin the experience one iota.
