As usual, a lovely curry from Ghandis with great service. This time we elected for a delivery rather than eating in the restaurant. The food came on time, and tasted amazing, they even included some complimentary beers which was a welcome bonus! In this day and age, it's so refreshing to feel valued as a customer and all the staff go out of their way to do just that.

I went here 3 weeks ago and the food was absolutely amazing! We realised that we are within the delivery range so have just ordered with them again for tonight. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! Food arrived quickly and piping hot! Quality was just as amazing it was in the restaurant! This is my new favourite takeaway!

The best Indian Restaurant in the UK, food is always piping hot, super clean, amazing choice for all diners, great vegetarian options and the most lightest Nan breads I have ever tasted. Not to mention great service and service is always with a smile

We were disappointed for the first time in many years. The food was fine but the number of people produced a frenetic atmosphere and the main man, the little bald chap, lost his cool with a fellow customer on the next table to ours telling the lady to 'use her brain' which was quite unjustified as the fault lay fairly and squarely with him. The lady in question had come in on the off chance there might be a table for her and her 3 friends. However the little bald chap didn't stipulate that they needed to complete their meal by a certain time so when he descended on them to pay up and leave it didn't sit well with them especially since they were regular and frequent customers. The owner - at least I think he is - lost his cool and was very rude. His shouting was quite invasive hence we noticed the scene on our table. From his viewpoint he had a largish party waiting to be seated however he was at fault for he had allowed the party of 4 to dine without stipulating a leaving time. Basically it was greed that motivated him to try to squeeze another group in, in order to make more money in my opinion. Although I wasn't directly involved the episode marred the evening somewhat. As I said the food was very good as usual but I shall be checking how busy the restaurant is the next time I book and shall probably avoid weekends as noise levels are very high, especially when there are large parties, and clearly the owner's temperament, which is usually warm if a little too touchy feely, isn't suited to busy periods and high pressure situations.

Never have I experienced such disgraceful treatment from my regular go to curry establishment of Ghandis as I did last night. We hadn't booked a table but it was early and I know they keep a few tables back for walk in's. We were pleasantly greeted and was told we had a choice of two tables. We were having a lovely time, not rushed, food good until the restaurant started to get busier. Everything suddenly changed. Our plates were being taken away whilst we were still eating, told we had to pay and leave straight away because people were waiting for their table - there was 8 of them and we were on a table of 4! Demanded we pay the bill as a whole group - was arrogant in response to us insisting we were paying separately. Blamed us entirely because we hadn't booked a table yet we had a choice of two. Shouted at me for talking to the group who were patiently waiting for their tables ordering me to talk to them outside and not inside his restaurant (I was apologising on his behalf for his behaviour.) I was actually embarrassed for them. Little guy with a massive chip on his shoulder pretty much threw me and my friends out for no apparent reason other than they had made an error. He could have refused us or explained we could only have the table for a certain length of time ect. Instead, he was extremely aggressive towards a regular, supportive customer of his establishment for a number of years was argumentative and damn right rude. After this we went to another local establishment which was/is fabulous. Overhead a conversation that there were a group of 14 that had booked Ghandis a month ago who were rudely told they weren't ready for them, to "go away and come back later." The group didn't go back later they decided to go to a different restaurant. I will never set foot in there again or order a takeaway and I will not recommend the restaurant to anyone in the future. Oh and when I said I'll be writing an honest review he still said" make sure you write you didn't book a table!" The actual nerve of this man.

So we came to this restaurant as a group of 6. We was put on a table at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen door, the staff was very arrogant as they entered and left the kitchen and we were apparently in the way. The food was nice but nothing special. When it came to paying (cash only) the owner gave us the unreadable bill and announced it would be £40 per head. We said surely this wasn't right as we had all ordered different meals. The cash was almost snatched from our hands as we got it out to pay and virtually rushed to the door afterwards. Very poor service and staff could do with some customer service training. We will not return. Avoid at all costs.

Popped in for a takeaway after a late finish at work on a Saturday evening. Very nice , was able to park on the road. Prices are high but the food was just lovely; waited approx 20 mins for it to arrive. An older gentleman who appeared to be the owner was very hospitable. Excellent

We ordered an extra pickle tray with this being my main meal, when it arrived I had to ask several times for salt and vinegar for my very bland chips, first just the vinegar arrived then 2 mins later the salt! Very poor service, staff running around like headless chickens. At the end the small guy (the owner I think) presented a bottle of wine to my brither for his birthday, little did we know he was to add this to the bill. When the bill arrived the small cocky guy snatched the cash out my brothers and my boyfriends hand and said it'll be £40 a head, I said mine isn't as I've not had a main meal, so I attempted several times to ask how much each item was so we could work it out fairly, the bill was scribbled down so we couldn't read what he was charging but he snatched the bill away once he got his money, very rude and it annoyed me a lot, he then had the nerve to think hugging and shaking our hands was appropriate on our way out, I was fuming, will never touch this place again, dearest chips I've ever had, ill go to the chippy up the road instead next time, at least ill get a decent meal, seems they don't appreciate card payments??? Amazing food, service was excellent even on a very busy night. We were greeted like long lost pals. The best Indian food I have had in the UK.

This was a hidden GEM, recommended by someone in the pub. We were not disappointed, the food is out of this world and the owner can provide you with the best meal based on your taste or you can choose from the menu. I recommend you let him do his magic! The service is outstanding and very entertaining. Thank you for a great night, and I will pop in next time I am in the area.

What a complete disaster of experience. We had been there waiting for 30 min just to get the food that we wanted written down. Then we decided that we wanted to leave since the other costumers were being served except us. When we told that to the man in a completely polite way, he started yelling at us and he literally said pointing to the drinks after he finished his speech ''I don't need your money''. Cheers mate I don't need your food neither.

Irritating owner. Overpriced. As soon as the bill was paid it was made quite plain we should leave. Won’t be going back.

Extremely rude owner! I called to ask if the meats/chicken were halal and the owners reaction was extremly rude. Your loss my friend. Don't even attempt if you are looking for a halal option.

Absolutely lovely place . The food is amazing. Great combination of a traditional curry house but still.lovely and modern. The staff are so lovely and can't do enough for you. We visited from out of area with family who live locally. The food was not great, very oily and the naan bread bland. Curry’s we’re very dark, something we are not used to where we live and eat. Staff were great but set on serving you large drinks no matter what you ask for. We received the bill which amounted to over £300 which does not seem possible considering what we had. Trying to decipher it was very difficult and we ended up paying the bill which worked out at £30 per head, there was no way this was right but paid and left. Definitely will not return as we are pretty sure we have been ripped off and the food certainly not worth the money!!

Absolutely bad experience this week. For sure the food was good, but if the service is unfortunate, it is low low restaurant. I can understand that the restaurant there are 150 peoples, but that it’s not our problem. So after 1hour 30’ to order we decided to wake up and went out… if you want to wait more that 2 hour to eat, it is the place…

Was supposed to go somewhere else and went here by accident, but so glad we did. All of the staff are brilliant, the owner is a character and came over and gave us a hug and the girls a kiss as we sat down. Very quick to bring us poppadoms and a lovely pickle tray. The menu is really good and has a wide choice. The food was quick to come and was beautifully tasty, nicely spiced and very good quality. Great atmosphere as the restaurant filled up, everyone seemed to know the owner and he was everywhere and greeted everyone as they came in. Food was great and the overall experience was fantastic. Thoroughly recommended

What a fabulous welcome by all the staff. They are all very helpful and friendly. The food is absolutely gorgeous with lots of choice. The bill at the end was very reasonable. You really must go off you are in the area.

Not sure why this is so highly rated or so apparently popular. Curry was ok, and the naans are giant (plenty to share but a little bland). The menu prices appears reasonable but despite most sharing naans and rice between two and everyone ordering no more than 1 pint, my party of 13 were charged an eye watering £465, which works out at £36 a head. Astronomical price, especially conserving most dishes are £10-12. The service was friendly, although totally fake which was made clear once we'd finished eating they wanted us to pay and leave as soon as possible to free up the table. After paying (and forced to pay cash) I queried the price and had the bill snatched out of my hand and was hurried out of the restaurant. From this experience, I'd highly recommend to avoid avoid avoid. There's plenty of better Indian restaurants nearby with delicious food and honest friendly service, e.g. Tandoori Nights in Shardlow.

Well, what a fabulous welcome! The staff are so lovely and very helpful. The owner is a lovely man who knows how to make everyone feel important. The food was reasonable and very, very tasty. The restaurant itself was very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic food but owner gave a twenty minute rant about paying on card and the Vat he has to pay, welcome to everyone's world, just wanted a nice meal and a night out, don't need that, apparently it's a regular thing according to other people in the village

Anyone local to Castle Donington knows this place. Visited a few times now with our motorsport team (popular venue for Donington Park visitors) and the food is top nothing quality. Ghandi himself is always willing to entertain 😁.

Gandhi it's the most popular Indian restaurant in Castle Donington and it's always crowded so make sure to reserve a table! Food is great and price is reasonable. The only thing I didn't liked was that brought one beer to everyone of us as a "welcome" but then we had to pay for that! Anyway the owner itself is funny and I recommend a visit because the food is worth it!

What a welcome- ladies are greeted with a double kiss and gentleman a handshake. Ghandi provided all the goods and the biggest naans in town. Would recommend to a friend x

This is by far one of the best Indian restaurants in the uk. Great value for money and a wide variety to choose from. Service was impeccable from the moment you walk through the door you get greeted like your family. All I can say is get down it’s a must try if your in the area!!

Castle Donington is blessed for restaurants, with Orissa, the excellent Gurkha Mahal, and my personal favourite, Curry Tonight. However, Gandhi is always busy and the reviews are good so for the first time in a number of years we gave it a go. Not sure if we just had a bad experience but we found the food to be relatively bland, very oily, and extremely expensive. Certainly wouldn’t encourage us to visit again and on this experience it would definitely ranks as number 4 on the list.

Such a wonderful,friendly, warm and welcoming place! We stopped off here after a very long drive from Cornwall and decided on takeaway. We was welcomed and greeted by a young gentleman who took our order and was very helpful and patient with us with a few laughs along the way! We met other members of staff who were just as lovely and welcoming. It was such a wonderful atmosphere and we didn't have to wait long for our very delicious food! The restaurant was cosy and if we wasn't exhausted, we'd of loved to of dined in! Worth every penny with authentic tasting meals- the butter chicken was divine and my gosh the huge naan was more than enough for 3 of us! Very reasonably priced also. Your kindness to us was overwhelming and will not be forgotten. We really didn't have time to pop back in and say thank you but we will be definitely back again and 100% recommend to anyone!

Worst place to ever eat, expects u to play like ur a millionaire. If u get the non-veg thali the chicken tikka masala is butter chicken which gives u diabetes. Don’t recommend to eat here. Bold guy is extremely rude and gives dirty looks and like giving lectures, disrespectful. I was very disappointed

Went here last night and the food was amazing. Staff were friendly and the main man ghandi was hilarious. Chicken tikka starter was the best I've had and mains were unbelievably tasty. If I'm ever back in castle Donnington I know where I'm going .

I’d say this has got to be my favourite Indian restaurant. We have been here countless times and it never fails to serve the most outstanding Indian food. I would highly recommend anybody to go and try the non-vegetable platter the Nager and madras. Always good service. See you again soon

This is my favourite Indian restaurant ever. May be my favourite restaurant ever! The service and food are excellent. It is has been our go to place to celebrate birthdays for the last ten years. Book! Your not likely to get a table if you don't.

First time visiting this place on thursday. Great atmosphere, friendly service and the food was some of the best I've had in a while. Would highly recommend.

Called in on the off chance if a table on Saturday evening and to our surprise we were seated and ready to order within five minutes. Drinks and a pickle tray ordered and served five minutes later followed by ordering the main course. It wasn't...

Booked Saturday night for eight. Arrived in time. Restaurant crowded. Staff clearly had ignored their booking system completely. Waited for ten minutes and was then seated at a hastily placed table at the back of the restaurant between the toilets and the kitchen, the door of which was obviously continuously opening and closing and staff were whizzing past. I informed my daughter that this was not a standard I neither expected nor would tolerate and she agreed. We left and drove to Tandoori Nights in Shardlow. Where we were seated immediately and appropriately. I could never recommend Gandhi’s.

Just ate here whilst on a business trip. Have to say that the welcome, staff, atmosphere and food were excellent. Had the Lamb Handi and the vegetable tali. The lamb was some of the best I’ve ever had. Literally falling apart and the curry was such a change from the usual bog standard stuff that is served at 95% of curry houses, it was a delight. Flavours were very good indeed and appropriately spiced. Would definitely recommend and will return here when in the area. Excellent

This is our go-to Indian restaurant in Donington. The food is really good and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. We regularly have takeaways from here and often eat in too. Recommended

One of the best curries I've ever had and I live near the curry mile in Manchester. This beats them all. The host is very entertaining and the food was amazing.
