Gail's Kitchen in Camden

Visited on 3 consecutive mornings for breakfast. The quality of the bakery items is excellent. We ate croissant, cinnamon bun (to die for and I don’t really like cinnamon!) orange juice and cappuccino. You can also watch the baker at work while eating breakfast. Everything in the shop looks delicious!

I honestly had the best chai latte of London in this Gail's bakery, everyone must try it ! Amazing staff and nice location.

Every time I come product is not available or take at least 20 mins. Staff just said oh why you always come so early. Unbelievable! Nor the friendliest staff to be at the front of a cafe!

This is by far the greatest Gail's franchise in all of London. While all claim to deliver warm coffee, there is nothing quite like the warmth of the Bloomsbury establishment. It lights up my day. Rita, Anna and Anthony in particular should be commended for their incredible attention to detail and beaming smiles. It doesn’t matter if I am busy or hungover, Gail's always seems to deliver what is required. I’ve had more coffee’s here than I can care to remember (each one better than the last). But what I will never forget is the sense of community and family that I experience every single time that I walk through the door. 11/10 from me, bravo.

While looking for a place to have breakfast, we found this place and wanted to try it. It was quite successful. I definitely recommend it. If you stay at Bedford Corner Hotel, they give a 30% discount.

Fantastic alternative to Italian Bear (where staff were so rude). Staff at Gail's were so pleasant and helpful. Cakes all looked amazing and lots of choice. Really enjoyed our cakes and hot drinks 😋

What makes this place unique is its staff, particularly Erica. On a Tuesday afternoon, I walked into the store looking for a non-diary product. Regrettably, none of free-diary pastries were available and Erica went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, looking for any product left around the store. Kudos to her, people like Erica make the world a better place :)

American here- but I live in NYC where we have tons of options (too many) and because of competition, everything has to be good. I often go into a new bakery or coffee shop when traveling with realistic expectations- that it could be hit or miss. This was HIT. Everyone- GO TO GAIL’S. This sausage roll was phenomenal, the Christmas Croissant and yoghurt pot was too. Honestly, this sausage roll might be something I grab a few to pack in my luggage for the trip home. I can’t stop thinking about it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Muy rico el palito de queso. El café bien. Lucy, persona más trucha difícil de encontrar, no se pidió nada. Fue por dos razones: 1- Se comió una dona de Krispy Kreme y le rompió la panza (usted no aprende, verdad?) 2- Quiere ir a un shop pero por su petición fue denegada por ser hermana trucha lo cual hizo que se pusiera depresiva y triste. Obviously Gail’s is a chain but you can always get good coffee and (albeit pricey) the best almond croissants.

This is one of my most beloved cafes. The food and coffee are always delicious and the service is impeccable. Today, they really outdid themselves when I accidentally knocked over my coffee (because I’m a natural clumsy person) and before I could even react, they had already offered tissues and a fresh remade coffee. So thoughtful and sweet and helpful!

We were staying at the adjacent hotel so it seemed like a great place to have brunch but out of the whole counter there was only one Vegan option, a tiny muffin/bite, and no Vegan sandwiches or soups (this was at 11am). We ended up walking to a nearby cafe which seemed to have something for everyone.

Went to Gail’s for a quick bite and to catch up with my Aunty and uncle. The place was busy with only 1 staff taking order and there was a queue of about 6. 2nd staff came to assist but pulled a face when I told her we were dining in - not sure why. They were unable to provide us with proper cutlery as no man power to clear tables (we cleaned our own tables). Must say quiche was beautiful and so was the brioche chicken roll and feta and spinach roll. However the pastrami beef with bagel was a bit disappointing - found the bagel too dry. Flat white Coffee was good but not hot enough. Overall service could be better; will definitely return for another go but maybe not weekend. Thank you

Found this place on Google and absolutely loved it when we went. The pan aux chocolate was amazing and the cinnamon rolls were beautiful. Go if you get the chance.

From all the reading online this was recommended for a scone out it town. It was super easy and delicious. It’s a chain in London but I would return for sure.

One of my favourite bakeries, but this store closes earlier (6pm) than other bakeries (7pm for Ole & Steen, Pret) around.

I had a small bun with salmon, and the bread was not fresh. Very disappointed EDIT I visited for the second time, there was table outside without chairs therefore we took chairs from inside to bring them outside before ordering and we also cleaned the table outside for them which had cups from previous customers. When I went in to order and give them the cups, I was told off that I shouldn’t have taken the chairs outside. Very rude way of approaching especially because I was going to order and consume there. Left the shop after that and will never be back!!!

Absolute disgrace! I recently visited a Gail's bakery in Willesden and attempted to buy a Chicken sandwich, spinach pastry, sultana scone and gave them a £20 note. I was told I couldn't pay with cash and either had to pay with a card or would not be able to take the items. Gail's cash is legal tender!! This is a disgrace!!

Amazing bread. The pastries are also very good and the hot chocolate made with Island chocolate was great quality.

Fly everywhere especially on the displays food! Unbelievable because when I told them staff about it, all they do is smile.

Amazing bread as always. BUT, I took out my Gail’s app for points collection and the cashier told me to pay. So I paid, and then he told me that I can’t collect my points after paying and there’s nothing else he can do to reverse the transaction and give me my points. Seriously??

Get a soup for lunch on my office days. Last week was fine, this week they reduced the portions but for the same price. I heard the people serving me discussing that they can't believe they are selling that for £6 etc

This place is a wonderful bakery 🥐 and coffee ☕ shop! GAIL'S Bakery serves a wonderful selection of delicious 🤤 pastries, sweets🧁, bread 🍞, and sandwiches! 🥪 Definitely try their cookies 🍪 and puff pastry pastries! Staff 👨‍🍳 is friendly and helpful and the service is quick. ⏲️ I wish I knew about this place earlier!

Front desk till lady with the tattoos was total mizog *could be more polite* should learn to smile or communicate like she wants to work at the place. Thee coffee was literally a cup of milk. The only thing I could compare it to was a motorway greggs coffee! Yucky Food was untested, supposedly the Gail’s in Parson Green - Fulham is better from what my girlfriend told me. Her recommendation, not mine.

UPDATE since it was asked. The variety and quality of your products was what made me give 5 stars. Also I should mention the warm, welcoming atmosphere in the store thanks to your employees.

Never seen such dirty Gail’s. You can see whatever the last few customers have eaten on the plate they serve you. Attitude from staff when you kindly ask for a change. Not coming back.

Pretty good breakfast food and tasty baked snacks. They are fast and mostly friendly, the coffee's not bad. They are good for dine in or take away. Price's are fair...

Small but mighty. Nice area out front with seating and canopy. Can imagine it being great in the Summer.!

Good coffee as always but a little hectic on a Saturday morning due to the central location so it took a little while to get my coffee. Still the staff were really attentive and made sure to clean up in between customers - big contrast from Ole & Steen around the corner which was a total mess!

Bright airy modern cafe with lots of high quality pastries, sandwiches etc. Great coffee. I wasnt really hungry so just had a tiny few centimetres bun with wonderful squashed avocado with whole chickpeas.

Member of staff wiped my damp plate (straight out of the dishwasher) before placing my bagel on it to serve me. Instead of wiping it with a dry cloth like a normal situation, she instead wiped it on the bum of her jeans. WHAT!? Also the loo was foul.

Being a frequent visitor to many of your stores , I was particularly impressed with the aesthetics of your Bloomsbury branch and the friendliness of your staff. Great customer service, particularly from Pam. Pastries and baked goods always high quality and consistent and I’m always excited to try something new.

Just love Gail's pastry - recommend almond and choco croissant and flourless choco cake. They've got A very good selection of freshly baked pastry and bread, clean store and quick service. This store is not so busy.

The bun I got was delicious if a little pricey . The coffee was also enjoyable and had no complaints with the standard of the produce. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the service. The shop was not particularly busy despite it busy a Saturday afternoon ( around 60% full). Despite this the station where you add sugar/lids etc was piled up with trays, empty cups, plates etc so impossible to rest your drink down. The barista was abrupt with very little communication. He had not steamed enough milk to fill my cup but chose to serve it to me anyway!! Overall would go again but think the general management of the store and customer service could improve. Don’t mind paying a bit more for Gail’s quality goods but would be nice if the experience was improved by friendly staff .

I keep asking for oat milk and they keep giving me cow’s milk. This is the second time they’ve called out my name and given me the wrong drink.

Good shop. Good service - quick. Very busy. Hardly any seating available at peak times. The tables are not cleaned regularly. So not very nice if the person before you didn't clean up after themselves.

Really bad experience today - a cold pastry and i had to pick up my coffee from the counter when eating inside. Why would I have to pay extra for inside service but actually not at all?

This was the first Gail’s I discovered back in 2014. Their cappuccino was one of the best I have ever tasted, and so were the ginger-blueberry scones. It used to be my weekly treat. Unfortunately they are no longer baking them (💔), so haven’t been back recently

Good coffee nice savory pastries

It was only for a cappuccino which was OK but not as hot as it should have been. It won't be a return visit.

2nd time I have experienced bad customers service. 1 person serving, very nice guy. Barvista tattoo women with serious attitude. Served luke warm coffee and glared at me throughout. I'd asked for an extra hot. Would not give me a glass of water. Suddenly 3 people serving after que and waiting 10 mins. Had to call stand in manager. Never again.

Little variety. Very frustrated (to say the least) sunday morning lady, giving extreme attitude to various clients. You can also call it rude & most certainly unfriendly. Better pick another spot honestly. Oh, also very dirty outdoor tables. Nothing like the Gails i know from Notting Hill…

It is a nice place to have breakfast, however I did find the service to be poor and slow and they did get our order wrong twice. There are other places nearby that I found much better.

I was looking to find scones in London for couple of days till I found it here!! Honestly it was pretty good. They gave many other fresh pastries to pick.

We love the Gail's where we live in Berkshire but the London experience was disappointing.. not a great selection of savouries anyway and as we were trying to choose the girl started removing them to throw away, such a terrible waste! She didn't even ask if we wanted anything.. Luckily we managed to snag a couple of things as I'm vegetarian and what was left would not have been enjoyable served cold. What we did have was very nice and up to usual standards. Drinks wise the chai latte was very sweet and lacked flavour, but my friends enjoyed their coffees. We were served everything in paper bags and cups, despite my friend being on crutches so I thought it obvious we would be eating in.. not that the unfriendly girl on the till bothered to ask, she evidently could not wait for us to hurry up and get out! The manager seemed kinder but still harassed despite a nearly empty cafe. Very overpriced considering everything, I would not visit this branch again unless out of other options.

I used to get the best warm foods from Gail's - eggs and bacon (best in the UK), blue berry pancakes, french toast (best in the world) but now these have all been dropped from their menu. They won't even warm a quiche for me anymore, price does not justify it anymore, come back original Gail, I miss you!

Fast service, delicious GF flourless chocolate cake (I may have ate half before the photo) I had a nice black filter coffee to go with it too! Lovely staff in here too!

We didn't meet Gail!!!! Who is Gail? Where is she? I want to meet her for the fabulous flourless chocolate cake. Hot chocolate was bit small. And none of us got any spoons. We had to ask for a spoon twice. Otheit was an overall good experience.

Haven't been in a less than great one yet. Yummy and crunchy and buttery oh my. Tea was very good also. Suggestion for the stores is to put in a self busing station. Not a complaint.

I’ve visited Gail’s bakeries around London too many times to count, and generally consider it a staple of my coffee spots. During lockdown I must have visited my local branch in exmouth market nearly daily. So I hate to report that my phone was stolen today at this location within a few feet of multiple employees whose initial reaction was that they didn’t notice the two thieves who came in to run their little scam, which in hindsight was an obvious ploy. Basically the two people came in with placards scrawled with pleas for help. They set the placard down on peoples tables with the aim of swiping the phone as they walk away. They put the placard on multiple tables but I was the only lucky victim, distracted because I had been eating with the phone resting off to the side. No one working here said anything when I loudly exclaimed that my phone was stolen, and said they hadn’t seen anything in what is a relatively small space. Someone offered to look up the nearest station so I could go report the theft, and it was only after I asked directly that someone else lent me a phone so I could call the police instead. This theft happened just after I had sat down with a sandwich and coffee. No one offered to comp the meal or even a business card with contact details should I or the police need to get in touch later. The attitude was basically that they had nothing to do with this. I truly value the idea of third spaces and use them a lot. But restaurants need to recognise that people aren’t coming to them to sit vigilantly with an eye on every belonging while fetching their own coffee and sugar. If you’re going to charge eat in prices there should be some element of service, which could reasonably extend to preventing random crime while people eat indoors. I’m mostly writing this review so that others are warned as it appears this kind of crime is ubiquitous now and you really can’t let your guard down at all anymore.

Gails has always been a little on the higher porice point, but generally enjoyed their product, however, this particular Gails's is the pits. It is the worst service in the chain, the slowest possible service and the coffee is always luke warm. I have tried this branch a number of times as i work locally but will not under any circumstances return, in fact the Building centre around the corner outweighs this by a mile.

We come to visit London, and popped in to the in one of the Gail’s Bakery at Bloomsbury. The staff were absolutely amazing! What a great team ! We were having our favourite sausage roll and tea but manager she was kind enough to offer us Gail’s new product to try which was a date &coconut banks bun . Absolutely heavenly delicious! Especially with a great , warm welcome . The whole visit was great , clean shop , kind staff. Definitely we will be back!

Arrived to both members of staff with their backs to the counter looking at their phones so the barista had to shout up there is a customer waiting. To say the girl was disgruntled was an understatement! I then glanced for a good two minutes at the food menu with this server staring at me only for her to tell me with zero customer service that there was nothing but counter food left. So I chose a pastry and a cup of tea. She said the tea would be at the end of the counter. I took my seat literally 3 feet (1.2m) away from the barista station. He called me to fetch my tea in a paper cup. I then asked if I could have a ceramic cup only to be told no as the washing machine was switched off…they still have 1 hr until they close. He then walked over to open the front door and propped it open whilst a last smoked outside so the smoke came into the cafe. I can honestly say this Gail’s needs some attention from head office. Really let’s the brand down
