Well we were aiming for the delicatessent in Ruthin which is fantastic but very short hours so took a chance on the new cafe in Gail's cafe building.I'm afraid it was not what I would want.Large white baps with very limited fillings, not at all appetising with tea that tasted of descaler.Served by a lot of chatting people who didn't notice their customers..while we were there they threw out all the remaining sandwich fillings which didn't give us much confidence I would definitely never visit again.

Visited today and had a very pleasant lunch . Staff were very helpful and obliging. Only things which detracted from our enjoyment were that the toilet was very dilapidated with no lock and no hand drying available not even any paper towels. A bit disconcerting at this present time. Also disappointing was the fish finger sandwich wasn’t very remarkable and wish we had picked something else now because other meals around us looked more inspiring. We did expect to get none standard fish fingers but our mistake for not reading the menu correctly as it did not state home-made. The salad and coleslaw were delicious as was the coffee. We would choose better next time as everyone else’s meals looked fantastic.

This Cafe is a Gem of a find!! Just off the main square. It is fairly small inside but they make up for it with hospitality!! I have never been made to feel so welcome in any Cafe or restaurant before, it felt like you were in the owners personal home! The Menu was on a big blackboard. I had the melted Mushrooms on medieval bread! It was delicious! All the food we ordered was hot, tasty and obviously home made, not a quick microwave meal!! Also I'm not sure exactly what coffee it was but was one of the nicest coffee's I've had!! And to top it off, the owner pointed out that they had a deal on for families and gave us part of our order for free!! Definitely a must if you are in Ruthin!

Won't be back anytime soon. After all these years you still not figured out how to cook a sausage? Yellow and black scrambled eggs also nice touch. Hands down worst breakfast in Ruthin, at any price point let alone the £7 you charged me. Almost comical so bad.

As a regular at Gail's, time to write another review as I have not done so for some time. The breakfasts are second to none and all the other meals I have had have been consistently faultless. The welcome is always warm and genuine from Gail herself and her wonderful staff and they and the other regulars soon become good friends who chat and take an interest in each other and are concerned for each other. Dogs are welcome and their presence adds to a wonderful visit every time. Always great.

Had our lunch at Gail's cafe in Ruthin. Very friendly and quick service. Menu included paninis, jacket potatoes, all-day cooked breakfast and some specials on the board too. We ordered beans on toast which was nice. Our only suggestion would be that one slice of toast with beans seemed a little meagre for £4.50. Go on girls - for the few pence that an extra slice of bread would cost it would make all the difference to the perception of good value. Keep up the good work :)

What a gem of a cafe! We, a party of three, arrived with our two Greyhounds, somewhat uncertain if we could be accommodated for lunch. Cafe busy, but Gail gave us a warm and friendly welcome and told us a table would be free in 10 minutes. We returned as suggested and yes, there was our table ready for us. Great fuss made of the sprawled out Greyhounds. Excellent home made lunch for us, and a bowl of chopped sausage for teh Greyhounds. Can't recommend thsi place enough....should be 10 stars, not 5.

Stopped off in Ruthin on way home from camping trip. Found this lovely place - great food, great staff. Granddaughter banged head badly and without us asking Gail brought over an ice pack, to put on bump. Also, noticed another customer asking what a particular baguette filling was like and she was promptly brought a bit to taste. You don't get that happening in chain's. Always eat in independent places, especially Gail's if you're in Ruthin

Visited after reading such good reviews; and the odd bad one. Tea was very good as was the service; regarding the service, the young lady with the dead bored eyes ruined it a bit, as did the search for the only salt pot. The two panini's were lack lustre. The panini's were hard to cut with the canteen knives and forks (mine with dried food on the fork); I had to use such force I thought it would be flung off the plate. The coronation chicken was small in quantity and quite dry; the salad minuscule and the tomato so thin it was transparent. The trestle tables only facilitated us sitting side by side; not very conducive to chatting. Don't believe all you read.

From the outside, it looks nothing special, more like something from a few years back. Inside was also like something from a few years ago. I hope im not being too critical because these independent places deserve the business alot more than the big nationals when they are like this. Set just off the main square area, we were greeted immediately, had the menu explained thoroughly and the place looked clean and the service was spot on. We had a panini and a toastie, both served with salad, which was fresh , and alot better quality than i have had in bigger and so called better places. Everything was cooked fresh as people ordered and i thought the place was excellent and deserves all the success it gets. Too many places nowadays are happy to take the money and dont focus on the customer. Many thanks to the staff here for keeping places like this going.

We visited Gail's cafe today for the first time. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and although they were busy the lady found us a seat in the corner with a few older people joking was it okay to share. We checked out the menu board and to my delight they had gluten free bread. When we ordered unfortunately they were out of the bread but the lady was amazing and went through all the other stuff she had that were gluten and dairy free, both I need to avoid. I ended up with a large lemon cake and black coffee but could.of had almond milk if I had wanted and my boyfriend had a lovely tuna sandwich with side salad and a coke

I booked a table for three of us. We all decided we weren't really hungry so we ordered bacon, brie and cranberry wrap, but one in bloomer bread. We asked for the bacon to be well done and crispy. We also ordered two bowls of chips. One with hand cut chunky chips and one sweet potato chips. We were all pleased with the food but couldn't eat all the chips. Luckily service was slow and we had some time before we ordered dessert. We ordered two apple and cinnamon crumbles and one mango cheesecake. Again we enjoyed our food. I would have given 5 stars but the apple and cinnamon crumbles didn't have enough cinnamon and the mango cheesecake not enough mango and a bit too sweet. Possibly too much white chocolate. But we will probably go there again and try something else!

New entrance to the right at Jackson’s Garden Centre and exit at the far left by the cafe and new screened till points. There is a one way follow the arrow system which kind of works (we did go back but really you should exit and go round again ) we did queue to get in and went straight to the cafe where you are given a hand held device which alerts you (pings) when there is a free table. Everyone was wearing masks or visors in the cafe. We felt quite safe as it is all very well organised. Wipe clean menus, waitress service, very clean and tidy everywhere including the shop and outside areas very quick service and the bacon, Brie and cranberry panini £5.99 from the the Christmas menu was delicious. The pate of the day platter £5.99 served on a board tasted as good as it looked . Very reasonable priced menu. Lovely Christmas decorations and gifts in the shop. It was nice to be out and about for a lovely lunch and catch up
