We have dined at Gafs a few times over the past year. Both in the restaurant and as takeaway and the food is always amazing. They are so friendly and the restaurant is well presented and tidy. It's really a hidden gem. We've had a fair few Indians in our time and Gafs is up there, top for value for money especially the meal deal for 2! Thanks guys and we'll see you again soon 😁

My wife and I dine at Gafs every couple of months and the food is always spot on and the service is second to none. Our family of five visited on Xmas Eve and although very quiet we had a lovely time and we all left satisfied. It so much more of a cheaper night out that you’re able to take your own alcohol here rather than pay £6 pint at most other Indians! Highly recommended. See you during the year 👍🏼

Always enjoyed a visit here. great welcoming and friendly staff - good prices often with 'meal deal ' offers on. No 'on license' so if you want an alcoholic drink then you are welcome to take your own they will provide glasses for you! lovely food freshly cooked. just be aware they only take 'cash' no cards so don't get caught out. well recommended .

Just can't go wrong. Gaf looks after you and the food is lovely. The place is clean and tidy, well looked after. Bill wasn't bad either.

Went on a Wednesday night and as such was very quiet. Gaf personally attended to us very attentively. We did end up with a couple of extras that we didn't order but to be honest, we were a party of 11 and there may have been far too much confusion between us. Nonetheless I ate the extra starter which was very nice and had the extra bottle of diet coke. All the food was very tasty, no complaints from any of us. I had the garlic chilli chicken which is always a favourite of mine when available, my niece had the same. She claimed it was very spicy whereas I thought it wasn't. Either way, I really enjoyed it. Knottingley is very short on restaurants and Gaf's is clearly the best available.

Remains the best Indian Restaurant in the area not only for taste but for value! You can’t beat £32 for a meal for 2 inc Poppadoms, any starter, any main and rice or naan. What always attracts us is the byo drinks, saves so much money … why pay £5 a pint at other restaurants when you can take your own 4 pack for the same price !! Only one small gripe .. please include lime pickle on the pickle tray !!! We’ll be back ….

Just popped in for a quick curry and was not disappointed. Food was freshly cooked and super tasty and not at all greasy. Staff were friendly and accommodating so no complaints here. Thoroughly enjoyed what we had and would not hesitate to come again.

Nice little restaurant food was good. Only down side was the wait for food and the water was a wait but got it eventually after asking 3 times. Overall was a nice place worth a visit if in the area.

We made our booking via the restaurant’s own website, and it said someone would ring us to confirm the booking. This didn’t happen but also wasn’t a problem and we had no issues getting a table. The restaurant area itself is clean and airy with plenty of room between tables so you don’t feel you’re on top of each other. The waiters are all friendly, efficient and knowledgable about the menu. There is a step down to the rear of the restaurant, but the owners have put a ramp in so there’s good access for wheelchair users. The menu is good and there should be something on it to suit everyone’s tastes. We prefer mild curries and were not disappointed. We took advantage of the meal for 2 which includes the pickle tray with 2 poppadoms, two starters, two mains and two sundries for £28...absolute bargain! The food was top quality and very tasty and the time between courses was just about right. You do need to take your own alcohol, but to be honest that’s also a bonus....we were able to enjoy a bottle of wine for less than half the price we’d have had to pay if we’d paid restaurant prices. The downside is the toilets. My wife tells me that the ladies were spotless and they provide Bayliss and Harding soap and hand lotion. The gents is a different story - ingrained dirt on most surfaces, huge cobwebs in the corners and worst of all NO SOAP!! Sort this out and I would have no hesitation in giving full marks. We will visit again, hopefully the owners will sort out the cleaning of the gents toilets, everywhere else was very clean, so why neglect this area?

We picked up a big order for 6 of us. The guys gave fantastic service. And food was nice and hot and lots of flavour. Top result !!!

A standard tika masala was very watery the starters were really good. But must say oretty average not the best we have had. Presentation excellent just a shame on the quality of food quite bland. The rice had no taste and the basic masala was very thin and chicken quite rubbery

Never had a bad meal here and the food and service are excellent, the staff make you feel part of the family, I have no hesitation in recommending Gafs to anyone, especially the buffet on the last Wednesday of the month is when you get to tray many of the wonderful dishes they make.

Well divided to try this resturant . Was not disappointed. Food exellent totally enjoyed everything. Not a bad night £50 for 2 . We brought our own drinks so a cheap night out . Differently a return visit.

I always buy the garlic chilli chicken main now as is my favourite, however I have dabbled in most of the options from the meat and vegetarian starters. Different mains are good from mild to spicy, always seem to do a good job. The Currys all taste different are not similar tasting, they always make the spice how you like it on request. My only little niggle the smallest thing I have a problem is the multi coloured rice. I don't get it rice is white. But the place is good, worth a try.

The food and service is wonderful. If you want it hotter then ask. Get menu had two for £28 great value take your own alcohol. Food was spot on no complaints about anything

Had mini stag party here for a friend, were made very welcome even though we had games etc and were a little rowdy. Food was delicious. The staff were very attentive. Would highly recommend

Little diamond great food great prices but don't tell anyone as we want to keep it for ourselves. Bring your own alcohol too so no expensive drinks bill either

We try to visit Gaf's at least one a month and can honestly say we've never had a bad meal/experience. We generally go mid-week so it's quiet and chose the set menu with 'byo' alcohol so it's always a cheap night out! Much better service than Ruchee up the road and much nicer surroundings.

Estado gafs muchas veces. Y siempre tenía una estupenda comida! Me gusta que tome su propio alcohol subjetivas. Mi pareja y yo siempre obtener la oferta de £28 por 2, que es, y la bandeja popperdoms pickle, cualquier principal cualquier entrantes y cualquier lado. Creo que es una buena oferta y si no tomamos distancia creo que es 20 libras? Siempre tengo el especial, no knottingley picante, es entre tikka y Korma y un poco de toque de dulce? Hermoso.

Met family from different parts of country, as not local unaware that cash only and bring your own bottle, which wasnt a problem today. But maybe advise on website. Good food, service and clean. :)

Vine con un grupo de amigos un domingo por la noche. Nunca había estado antes. Sólo otro par de mesas de lleno, así que muy tranquilo pero era agradable y el personal era lo suficientemente atento sin pasarse. Entrantes pollo pakora eran preciosas, tenía una preciosa cantidad de especias. No pude encontrar lo que quería como principal así que pidió que el ajo chili con pollo hecho para mí no hay quejas y era tan sabrosa, deliciosa. La única cosa que sugeriría como una mejora sería el rango de la bandeja - El Chutney de mango pickle era como agua y podría agregar otra pickle ligeramente punzantes. Todos disfrutamos de sus comidas y sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Me recomendaron este restaurante por mi vecino, así que me alegro de haber encontrado. Es un poco fuera del camino con un pequeño aparcamiento en frente, pero que quizás lo que lo hace todo especial. La comida es deliciosa y adorable, y los precios son razonables. El personal es muy acogedor y tiene capacidad para peticiones de cosas que no están en el menú. Me encanta que dan después de 8 minutos con la cuenta!

Went for the 1st time on Sunday night and got a table no problem, quite lucky really as it got really quite busy just after we sat down, friendly staff great service and the food was superb, I asked for a chicken tikka keema madras that wasn't on the menu but would recommend it, as a superb dish

Just had a great meal at Gafs again. The food was superb, tasty, rich and fresh. The staff are so friendly going out of their way to accommodate you. I would recommend Gafs to anyone who likes authentic indian food. The prices are very good too.

I've not eaten in but we get a takeaway at least once a month from Gafs....always spot on. Worth a try

This is the only Indian we use now. We have eaten in, but usually have a takeaway on a sat night. It's always lovely and hot. The staff are really friendly too.

this is our second takeaway from gaf's. the first one was a long while ago when this place first opened and was 'ok'. I don't think we will be ordering from here again. ordered over phone and was told would be 20 min. gaf's doesn't do deliveries so you have to go and collect this isn't a problem as live locally. the place looks clean, well presented, staff are friendly and polite. thats were good points end. the food portions are small, the tin foil containers look as though they are 'starter' portions I even paid an extra pound for a vegetarian main meal size, I dread to think how small the normal size would be. the king prawn rogan josh was tasteless! it was like it was watered down somehow. ive had better curries out of a can. the only good part of the meal was the naan bread which again was tiny compared to other local takeaways. I really cannot understand all the positive reviews gaf's attracts except to say they may be for the actual restaurant part of the business as oposed to takeaway. I really do hope this was an 'off' day for this restaurant and my 2 points reflects this otherwise it would have got one and that for presentation of the establishment rather than the food.

Came on a Tuesday night and tbh we were the only people in, many people came and collected takeouts but no one stayed to eat, this didn't ruin anything, constantly checked on but never pestered, food quick and beautiful. It was nice to go out somewhere and it not be loud and boisterous. Anybody who has the take out mid week, stop in and eat, make the most of the quite time to talk without distractions of tv. Will definitely be back mid week again and hope other will to.

Ordered a takeaway from Gaf's for the first time. I collected it about 30 mins later - it was almost ready as they were cooking it fresh and so when I got home it was still very warm. The food was excellent and good value.On my next visit I will have the meal in the restaurant as it looked very nice, clean and a friendly atmosphere.

Visited here originally to have a take away but decided when we arrived at the restaurant to stay and eat in. Was so glad we have found this place. food was best Indian food we have eaten in a long time. Staff were so friendly and attentive. Genuinely really nice place, spotlessly clean, decorated really well,lovely hard working people.Anyone thinking about visiting here or ordering a take away please do you will not be disappointed! Will recommend many to our new favourite Indian !

Thought we'd try a take away from Gaf's after receiving a flyer through the door. Opted for the £19.90 meal for two offer and weren't disappointed with either the quality or the price (saved around £8). The food was very good, pickles plentiful and a lovely plain naan, the fried rice was delicious as was the Chef's special (mixed curry). Will definitely be ordering again and will take up the 20% off, dine in offer Tues to Thurs, as the interior looks great. Would have given 5 stars had it not been for the slight wait for the food on collection. The staff were really smartly dressed and very polite and pleasant - seems a very professionally run restaurant.

You could easily make the mistake of avoiding this place given its not in a town centre and is not even in the centre of Knottingley. That said, this is a cracking curry house well decorated if in an unassuming location. The staff are fantastic, helpful, welcoming and the service is with a smile. More importantly the curry is as good as any in the area (and I have eaten at them all). Authentic withe a range of specialities and the usual suspects. Plus it is bring your own beer/wine so this also keeps the cost down. Jump in a taxi and try this place, you will not be disappointed.

Just returned from our first trip and we'll definitely be back. Initially we were going to go for a takeaway but decided to go out instead. The decor is lovely inside, really modern and a great atmosphere. The menu we received on the table was different to the takeaway one we had at home, this wasn't a problem however as the waiter knew exactly what dish we were talking about. We opted for the 2 for £28 and weren't disappointed. After ordering Naans as well the waiter even inquired if we were hungry as we'd ordered quite a bit of food! He wasn't wrong. The mixed starter and chicken pakoras were both excellent. The meat on both dishes was incredible tender and very tasty, the pickle tray had spice to it and the raita was top notch. Mains again were some of the finest I've tasted, the heat in my partners chilli dish was well balanced with other flavours and my Chicken Tikka Bhuna was so good! The range of dishes on offer were spectacular, and if we'd have had room for pudding those dishes looked great as well. Service was sublime, the conversations we had about the dishes really helped us pick and the servers were very friendly! Thanks guys, we'll definitely be back!

Went with family for a birthday celebration meal, it doesnt look much from the outside, but once through the doors its very clean and modern. As none of us drink, we asked for tap water, which came chilled in nice resealable bottles, that was a nice touch.The food is all freshly cooked, so theres a slight wait in service, which you expect when its all cooked from fresh.The menu has lots of choices for everybodies palates. We had the chefs special, which was really nice, spot on with the spices and not too hot. We also had the onion bahgees, which come with a mint sauce and side salad. The naan breads are beautiful too and once again freshly prepared and cooked.It is somewhere i would highly reccomend if you want asian style meal out. They also do take out which is a bonus We will definitely be back in the near future

If you like Indian food Gaf's is the place to go! Amazing food with great service and a lovely atmosphere. You can also take your own booze! What more do you want? Very well priced, me and my partner had a main, side and a poppadom/ pickle tray and it came to £25!

We ordered gaff's sizzler which was spot on as usual and fish sizzler which was absolutely amazing cooked exactly how it should be with lovely spices that gave it that extra taste. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Thank you for coffee tip .

My 2nd time to this restaurant. Clean looking and modern look. Four of us eating and 2 various starters which was very nice. Shammie kebab was really nice. Main courses was really tasty not to many spices in any of the dishes. The chicken was good size pieces and naans tasted good also. But remember some people like what others don't. But overall you need to try

Many a happy evening spent in the jewel in the crown. Part nostalgia part legend, but missed this place. Now it's been back just over a year, and what a return. Some old favourites and various tigons of old favourites on the menu, plus some more modern contemporary dishes and some more traditional home style dishes.Always a great welcome, and as in the old days feels like part of our town and community like a local pub.Great stuff.

Been for a takeaway tonight, when arrived was told if i had ordered a meal for two i could have had exactly the same but with two starters and for a pound less !!!! Could have told me when order was placed, food was mediocre and prawns difficult to find, Ruchee you have no worries.

We were recommended this restaurant by others who spoke very highly of the place. We decided to give it a go as we all love our curries and have been to most in the Pontefract / Castleford area.Upon arrival the decor seemed nice and modern and appeared clean. The owner / waiter was very polite and went through his recommendations. Usual start to the evening with poppadoms n pickles were standard followed by mixed starter which again was the norm and nothing special.The main courses arrived and we found they all seemed to be cooked with the same sauce as a base. None of them were foul but out of all the curry places in the 5 mile radius, this was unfortunately at the bottom of the list, sorry. Not that cheap either. £67 quid for 4 people with not a sniff of alcohol in sight.

Came here with a party of around 10/15 for a friends birthday. Greeted on arrival and shown to our table whilst the rest of the party arrived. Once all arrived, orders were taken and starters arrived promptly. The restaurant had offered to put the beer we brought in the fridge so all our drinks where chilled. Mains arrived and where very nice and filling. The price was reasonable and if your full and the food was nice what more can you ask for. Been before and will defiantly come again.

Had a couple of takeaways since it changed from Ibbys back to Gafs on a friends recommendation & both were lovely so I arranged for a group of 15 both friends & family to go for a sit down meal last Saturday, food was lovely, even the kids who had English food loved it, the service was excellent & all the waiters are very pleasant & polite, will definitely be going again, very easy to recommend to others, just how a restaurant food/service should be

Visited on New Years Eve. Very busy but we were seated straight away even though we were early for our reserved time.Considering the amount of people in the restaurant, some large parties as well, we did not have to wait long to order.The staff are helpful + friendly. They are happy to make suggestions or alter dishes to your specification. Our waiter even pointed out a meal deal which would save us money but included all we had ordered plus poppadoms and pickle tray!Food all very tasty, and the naan breads excellent. I can recommend the pasanda. No on licence but that is a plus for us.They will serve endless tap water for free or they have a selection of soft drinks plus you can take your own alcohol if you like.Will certainly go again.

I went here on a fine thursday night with my mates, ordered a chicken tikka masala and came out to be spunk and chicken.When my beer came it was shandy from morrisons i was so angry so i just left the resturant and then as i was going home dylan wathen stole my dog WHAT A NIGHT!

Ordered a takeaway tea as we really enjoyed the food when we ate in the restaurant. Tasty food at a great price. I would definitely recommend both eating in and take away.

I have had a few meals here now and never been disappointed. I placed an order for myself and 7 other people at work last night. we all had different meals and everyone commented on how good their food was.

We had a takeaway meal Sunday night on recommendation from the moment we walked in we were greeted by very friendly staff, The food was excellent and very tasty. We would definetly use them again. There was a good choice and the portion sizes were very good with plenty of food and it was great quality.

visited Gaf's for the first time. Food was very good, but not much atmosphere. You bring your own drinks, which is different. Naan bread was freshly cooked. Currys were tasty, my chicken tikka was nice but chicken very chewy. Would still go back.

Went with a friend on a midweek evening. It was quiet, not much of an atmosphere and the restaurant was far too bright and rather chilly! The food was good but I felt slightly overpriced in comparison to the other Indian Restaurant in Knottingley which I would choose every time. No issues with the food.

We ate here as a party of 4 on Tuesday 4th August. The decor is clean, bright and modern with good quality tables and chairs. It's a 'bring your own booze' place so no nasty surprises when you get the bill.We food was beautifully served and obviously made from fresh, good quality ingredients. The Gafs sizzler starter was fantastic. The four of us each had different main dished and when they arrived they all looked and tasted different - I know that sounds obvious but I have eaten in Indian restaurants before where all the dishes have looked and often tasted the same, despite ordering different dished.The naan breads were freshly looked and were delicious. All the meals were very flavoursome. I will definitely visit again.

Had a takeaway last night from this place. Great menu, great service, great price and great food. We will definitely be returning either eating in or taking out.Just for info, you can't buy alcohol in the restaurant but you can take some in. Also take away has to be collected as they do not deliver.

Come here a lot with friends, family, boyfriend and get takeaways from here too. So glad Gaf's is back - best Indian in Knottingley! 5* service, staff give you extra things to try out and can cook things that aren't on the menu. Really friendly family business. Bring your own booze. Recommend the Gaf's Sizzler for starter. Perfect!

I'm a big fan of Gafs food! I was a regular back in the day of the Jewel in the crown! The newly refurbished restaurant is stunning! On my first visit I got a tour of the kitchen and it was spotless!Beautiful food and reasonable prices! Highly recommend it!

Disappointed with the fish sizzler, it should arrive to the table on a very hot cast iron skillet ( sizzling ) it came on a cold plate ! We asked a waiter what fish it was and he said Cod, another waiter said it was Haddock ... I think it was Bassa which is a very cheap tasteless fish. We did have a look at the buffet first but decided to go for something off the menu as all the buffet food looked to be swimming in oil. The place is nice & clean & very modern looking but I'm afraid the food isn't quite up to standard for the prices they're charging. You can take your own beer/wine though which is a small bonus.

Visited Gafs recently with my wife and daughter. On entering we found the restaurant to be nicely decorated and the staff pleasant and attentive. I like a curry but don't like it too hot, as this was our first visit we all selected a dish of medium heat. My wife and daughter normally like a curry much hotter than I do but we all found our dishes to be much too hot, if we visit again I will certainly ask for a dish with less fire. Overall enjoyed the visit but found it to be quite expensive for a BYO drink restaurant.

I have heard on the grape vine that Gaf was back in Knottingley and opening back up the restaurant he once ran. I was not disappointed.Upon arriving the car park was recently tarmacked, the decor inside was obviously all new too. Nothing too extravagant, just quaint, clean and fresh. We were greeted speedily and in the correct manor by a happy, smiling individual.We had pre-booked our table for four, so were swiftly shown to our table. We were given the table right next to the front window, which was nice. The restaurant does not have an alcohol license so this is a "bring your own", if you are wanting those sorts of beverages. This was not a problem for us, as we only wanted soft drinks anyway.I had a mixed starter which consisted of an onion bhaji, 2 pieces of chicken tikka and a shami kebab. All were well made, succulent and tasty. We also shared some poppadoms and the pickle tray. Pretty standard, just what you find in other local Asian restaurants.I wanted a Phaal for main course, but the hottest curry I could find on the menu was a Madras. The waiter told me I could have a Vindaloo which he would get spiced up with some chillis. It was well made and warm. Not as hot as my Phaal would have been but no complaints. We also shared a garlic naan which was literally dripping with garlic, very tasty. Rice, chips and chapattis were also ordered. Again, pretty standard for what you get in local Asian restaurants.At the end of the meal we were given the obligatory lemon hot towels and an After Eight a piece, plus a lolly for each of my children. Incidentally there was no child's menu but there was an "English" section so my kids had Chicken Nuggets from that. I had to help my daughter with some of hers and I have to say the nuggets were spot on. Not something I usually eat and OK, I didn't really have to help her, I am just greedy,Throughout the meal, we were treat fairly and friendly. Only once did they ask how the meal was, which is good as too many restaurants come over every couple of minutes and ask the same question over and over.Already this is the best Restaurant in Knottingley and I definitely recommend a visit for anybody who is a fan of Asian food.
