Funki Griller Steak & Seafood Grillhouse and Cocktail Bar in Bournemouth

Service was great. Stake was juicy but tasted a little bland. Not amazing like reviews suggest. But overall a plesent meal and friendly service and food came superfast.

On a busy Saturday evening, myself and a friend were found a table by helpful staff. A nice buzzy atmosphere greeted us, and wow!! The food is amazing. We went for sirloin steaks and sides. Cooked to perfection by Adam and his team. I well recommend for a meal out in town.

Mixed bag really. The steak was good and the chips were good (albeit you don’t get many). BUT the main thing that stays in my mind is when receiving my Scallops as a starter, these were cooked on the same grill and with the same oil as the steaks! So they just tasted of steak, plus they were covered in black bits from the dirty oil. Not nice and not what you’d expect when ordering scallops… Also, the peppercorn sauce that came with the steak was terrible and tasted powdery. So overall it was very average - and I wouldn’t got back as I expect a lot more for what was a VERY expensive meal!

I paid more than £100 today for 2 adults and one kids. But I feel really disappointed with the dishes. I went back to Funki Grillers after years with expectation that the dishes still be the same as before. However, it was totally different. I called 2 steak with rib eyes (210z for each adult). My husband dish was alright. But mine couldn’t be acceptable. It was burn and bitter. I couldn’t complete my dishes and my husband has to help because we don’t want to get rid of £100. Even my kid dish was a little over cooked. It was burned out side the rib. With the bill we paid, we expected much more than a bitter and burned dishes.

Lovely food and good sized portions. The delivery to table was fast and Michaela gave us really good waitress service, thank you. The two steak meal deal, makes it better value for money. Sadly swapping out the potatoes for salad or vegetables was a bit of an issue and we had to pay for a side dish. A large service charge was automatically added! Parking was horrendously expensive though, Bournmouth needs to rethink the very high car parking charges or those in the know, and regular tourists to the area, will head out to the outlying towns who have a more realistic view of attracting visitors to the area.

Less pretentious than Miller and Carter. Tasty flame grilled steaks at a reasonable price.

Booked for mothers day and my daughters birthday, was pleasantly surprised by the inside as the outside looks a bit shabby. The service was good, we were seated and asked if we want a drink. We ordered drinks and our food, we had tampura king prawns, the tampura was a little under done which made it soggy not crispy. Once we finished the waitress cleared the plates and brought the mains nearly straight away. Give us 5 minutes please. The streak was very good, so we're the chips, however the chip portion was too small. We got the bill which was a lillte more than I expected but I did have the t bone. I summary good and bad, just like the tampura give us a little more time

Poor portions steak cooked for 5 and 30 chips between 5 people this was a warning when food brought to the table in 5-10 minutes. Our steak was rare and fatty when we asked for this to be cooked well done. I have to disagree with some reviews on here It’s not about price always thought you pay more you get a better quality meal. Left here thoroughly disappointed.

We ordered chicken liver for starters which was very good. For main course, we ordered BBQ Pork ribs which was good but then we ordered whole tiger prawns sautéed with garlic butter which came with the skins and poop vein which we had to clean by ourselves. They offered to replace but by that time we lost our appetite so we asked for replacement item. We asked them to make replacement item as take away which was gravy but then they didn’t have container for that and gave us wrapped in silver foil. I am sorry to say but It was a bad experience.

Another superb dinner at Funki Griller ; the Tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly - not easy to do properly but easy to ruin .. Suzanne the host is as ever genial and welcoming- truly a good host. Food is really best in Bournemouth.. You can’t go wrong - and live music too Thanks guys ! Graham x

Fabulous! Great atmosphere, great decor and even better food. Definitely worth a visit for a delicious meal. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of the Funki Griller... and will absolutely be booking again on our return visits to Bournemouth! Highly recommend.

As the voucher was expiring tomorrow and I couldn’t bare to see it go to waste I got in contact this morning to see if I would be able to do an order for collection. I spoke to Brooke on the phone who was so helpful and kind, as the voucher had been bought online they weren’t able to extend it but she told me I could pop in this evening, order and they would wrap it all up for me to take home with me- I was so pleased! When I went in this evening, I was met by Brooke on the door who was just as friendly in person, she took my order and everyone was so helpful and accommodating, I’d even taken some tuppaware that they filled for me so I could transport it easier. It was so easy and no one made me feel like I was an inconvenience. I was so appreciative. The food was transported home safely and very much enjoyed. Thank you so much for your kindness, great food and for going above and beyond.

Absolutely stunning steaks. This is our go to restaurant now as we know we will get superb food. The steak melts in your mouth, the sauces are gorgeous and the chunky chips which I don’t normally like, are crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The staff are all very friendly and service professional. Would highly recommended!

Really disappointing, expected alot more based on the reviews. Sirloin steak was average, chips were deep fried for too long and tasteless. Drinks were great, service was average. Queue the "I am absolutely horrified..." copy and pasted reply used on almost every negative review this restaurant receives. Feedback should be taken on board and not dismissed. Something this restaurant definitely needs to consider.

Arguably the best steak 🥩 I've had in England at least up there with the best. Had ribeye on the bone. Perfectly cooked. Very tasty. Didn't need a sauce. Great chips and tasty salad. Fast friendly and efficient service. Will go again.

We ate here in June 2021, was so good we wanted to return, just managed to last night. It was just as amazing, the food and the staff are second to none. The owner was at the door showing everyone to their tables, lovely lady. Was well worth the 60 mile drive and overnight stay. Would never eat anywhere else in Bournemouth.

The food the service everything was absolutely amazing. I don’t ever normally eat steak but my partner has been slowly converting me, so first time out somewhere eating steak. Just wow really worth every penny.

Cannot fault this place. Came here for a birthday dinner. We ordered the 10oz rump and 10oz fillet, for the sides we ordered portobello mushrooms, onion rings (these were huge), funki greens, salad and peppercorn sauce. There was so much food! I loved being able to watch them grill on the tv. The staff were very attentive. Total cost was £92, which I feel was reasonable for the amount we had. It was a lovely family run vibe, if I come back to Bournemouth this will be on my list of places to visit!

Waited over an HOUR to be seated even though we pre booked - like you wanted us to give up and go somewhere else. Caesar salad came on a stupid small triangle plate and would spill over the sides when I cut into the steak. The plate would tip over due to the shape of it. Poxy small portions for the price is insane - I’ve looked at other photos of your food in previous reviews and we definitely had even smaller portions. You should also think about removing the low hanging black lamp that everyone knocked their head on when getting in and out of the seats. No staff asked how the food was you all just didn’t care. No condiments No cutlery for the mains was provided until we had to ask. £50 pound service charge. Bathroom was cold and ladies toilet 1 had no button on the full flush. Your front door is stiff and needs fixing for easy access in and out of the restaurant. Bar staff can’t understand 2 drinks and gave and charged us 3 drinks. This was my first and last time here. Never again. Awful.

We stumbled across this gem by accident. What a pleasant accident!!! Suzannah the hostess accommodated us immediately and the night just got better from there. Fantastic, attentive staff with food to die for - sea bass was superb as were all the meals. Can’t wait to return for another culinary delight. Thank you Suzannah and team!

This place was an unexpected discovery. We were given a table immediately with no reservation and the host Suzanna couldn’t have been more welcoming. The food was to die for. Sea bass fillet cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth delicious. I did have food envy looking at the next door table ribeye steaks too. Gonna be back asap and trying the steaks. Staff are fabulous, food is amazing, great quality and value for money. Thank you Suzanna and team; you made our night!

Would leave zero stars if I could! Manager was rude, obnoxious and argumentative. Happily took our £324 bill without offering any money off for terribly cooked steak and sub standard service. For a restaurant that claims is the number 1 steak house in Bournemouth I think the chef needs to go back to school to learn how to cook a steak!

Really disappointed tonight We came here around 4 months ago and had a delicious meal The steak was beautifully cooked Then tonight my husband ordered a tomahawk steak and it wasn’t cooked the way at he asked He didn’t realise straight away and hadn’t said anything when the lady asked if everything was ok As he started to edge through the 40oz steak he was put off by how rare it was and just couldn’t eat any more Other steaks on our table including sirloin and fillet were also rare He spoke with the manager who basically said he should have asked for it to be put back on the grill and wouldn’t do anything about it , didn’t even offer a free drink or a side (just tough basically) The service was slower than normal as well It started very well with a lovely lady who was bubbly and friendly and really helpful and then she went and all seemed to go slow I just think a small gesture of good will and acceptance of the mistake goes a long way We wouldn’t go again and that’s a real shame

Have eaten here twice and both times the fillet steak was excellent.Great flavour ,very tender. Suggest you opt for the surf and turf deal if there are two of you as you get your steaks etc but,for the same money as you you would pay for the same 2 meals separately you will both get two massive prawns on there too ! Look out for the cocktail deals as well !

Good quality steaks cooked exactly as requested. The food was so much better than we expected, as it didn't feel like a place that would do so well. Bit gimmicky and less serious maybe. There is a TV on the wall showing a live feed of the kitchen, so you can see the food being cooked. Good service.

I have visited this venue several times over the years and the food is good and decor and location is very good, however I have noticed the price of meals has gone up and £12 for a 250M glass of wine is getting expensive, I think this venue is in danger of over pricing itself. Main coarse of Sea Bass and Chips at £28 is a bit steep although very nice chips and the service is good

Recently booked a table here for a special occasion. Restaurant was not very clean and was generally not a very nice place to spend time. We were in and out in an hour. It’s a shame because the old location was pretty good.

I was not expecting such a beautifully put together place. Somehow, from the menu and the name I was expecting it to be a bit basic but the decor was wonderful. The service was superb from the moment we walked in. We had a large round table for the two of us. Steaks were amazing and cooked (rare) to perfection but my god those chips were amazing. Not cheap but worth every penny.

6 of us went for a meal here on 2/12/23 . 3 of us very ill after 3 hours . I have been poorly now for 7 days suffering with campylobacter food poisoning confirmed by stool samples . Very disappointed after sending an email to restaurant on 4/12 and no response . We paid over £250 for meal . I would not recommend this restaurant.

Waited an hour for a rare piece of beef paid £160 waited. Another 15 minutes, then decided to leave pulling staff appalling service. The worst thing is at the old location five years ago. I was a regular that something has changed most certainly. Still got the receipt. Still haven't received what I paid for as a consumer in the west of the world disgusting

Quiet Thursday evening. Ordered Boerewors and Rib eye....both were pre cooked. Boerewors came with a cold sauce, Ribeye was tepid, mushrooms under cooked, baked potato just ok. Peppercorn sauce pre made, probably bought in. Very very mediocre food, excellent service. But the fact the food came so fast made it obvious it was all pre cooked. The live screen that you are offered to 'watch your food being cooked' never had any food being cooked during the whole time I was there...some reheating did happen. Disappointing and will not return. Not recommended.

This place deserves 10 stars. Never been remotely disappointed here. Steak to die for good choice of drinks and the young lady who served us was lovely. Can't wait to go back.

We were in Bournemouth to see pantomime with family and were looking for a meal for four of us and tried the Funki Griller and even though we'd not had time to book we were accommodated quickly and enjoyed a fabulous meal . Service and food are excellent and a credit to the owners who run a great restaurant

We were greated with such a lovely smile from the young lady behind the bar but unfortunately everything went down hill from there.

We visited Funki Griller after walking past and were pleasantly greeted by the hostess. The food was amazing, especially the steak and the lamb chops. Great decor and relaxed atmosphere.

Wonderful tasty steak cooked perfectly. We had green vegetables and salad as sides. These could have been bigger, but the peppercorn sauce was massive so you could easily share.

Raw chicken. Do eat there. I was served a raw chicken. Hard to believe as it was spatchcock. Won't be going back

Really impressed with Funki Griller. Online Booking was easy and we were greeted with a friendly smile. The service was really good, friendly and not intrusive. The menu had a great selection, something for everyone. The food is exceptional, all cooked to order and you can see it being cooked on the wall mounted screens. Definitely will recommend and we will go back .soon!

First time visited and never again. Ribeye steaks we had were hard and tasteless. We went for medium rare. Then we ordered dessert hot brownie with ice cream and the brownie was cold and the texture of it was like a soup. Absolutely horrible experience. The place is nice, clean and tidy but nothing apart from that.

This is an outstanding restaurant in every way. The food is gorgeous, the service excellent and the ambiance brilliant. The guitarist playing was off the scale. Thanks for a wonderful evening. PLEASE VISIT THIS RESTAURANT!!!

Amazing food at a respectable price. This is definitely the place to eat in the area, especially if you are into Steak. We went for the Ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection.

I felt the food was of average quality and didn’t really represent value for money. At first glance dishes such as rack of ribs at £19, salmon at £25 for instance, is slightly expensive for this kind of venue, however you then realise that those dishes are without sides which you then have to pay extra for. Hence, I feel there are better restaurants in central Bournemouth that offer much better value. 👎

Fabulous food , friendly service and wonderful surroundings

We visited the funki gorilla prior to going to see Rob Lambarti in concert at the pavilion’s opposite. On arrival we were taken to our table by the Maitre D .. George Michael was the playlist as many guests were going to the concert .. after ordering drinks and food it took around 10 mins for the starters to arrive. Scallops were delicious and the German sausage with gravy also looked amazing. The restaurants signature burger delivered on looks and taste ! The pork ribs also looked amazing .. Service , food , surroundings were of a high standard and we’d be more than happy to revisit !

Easily the best steak restaurant in town! Portion sizes are great and really quick service Have been going to Funki Griller for over 10 years and must have been there 50+ times now and never had a bad meal. Always friendly staff, food is spot on (I recommend the 21oz Sirloin!) Great selection of cocktails as well, good place to take the other half or big groups still can be catered for. Atmosphere is really pleasant and we wouldn't go anywhere else.

Advertised as Bournemouths number one steakhouse restaurant I decided to pop in before a Tubular Bells concert at the Pavilion Theatre on Thursday evening around 5.30pm Ordered a glass of red wine, the rump steak (medium) with jacket potato and funki greens (extra cost) My meal arrived within 10/15 minutes First complaint had difficulty cutting the steak, second complaint could not chew it, removed from my mouth and left on side of my plate. Second and third mouthfuls produced the same result. Waitress came over and asked was everything ok, I complained that the steak was tough and she offered to replace it with a ribeye. Proceided to eat the jacket potato, which had obviously been microwaved and green beans which were ok. Second steak arrived within a few minutes, and was marginly better! Good job the steak knife was sharp!! Total bill was £33.00 Value for money 1 out of 5 Needless to say I won't be rushing back next time I'm in Bournemouth

Went to Funki Griller Bournemouth for birthday treat.A few points... Waiting staff could do with some training, as, although all options are on the menue, in the reduced ambient light it's difficult to read and when I ordered my stake, the waitress didn't ask if I would like a sauce, so I didn't have one. When I asked later 'does this stake come with a sauce' she just said no..! Not 'oh did you order one...or something. So not very impressed there. We then looked at the mushrooms and asked how many we would get, she said 5. So we ordered two lots of mushrooms...but she didn't say they were huge...so two sides of huge mushrooms came out which was pointless. And although my stake was cooked to perfection, there was a very limited choice for my wife who does not eat stake so points deducted here also. All in all, for the money paid which was in excess of a hundred quid for the night, not impressed. Sorry.

We were expecting amazing things looking at other reviews but it wasn’t that great. We had rib eye steak and it was very chewy. We also felt we were shoved right at the back of the restaurant on our own with no atmosphere. Nice restaurant in a good location and lovely staff. Just disappointed ☹️

I had seabass fillet with roast potatoes,this was nicely grilled,I must day the portions are good.I ordered a rack of ribs for my kids and I was surprised how big the portion was ,they couldn't even finish it.

We stumbled across this restaurant last Monday evening quite by accident. We had intended to eat at the neighbouring italian food chain for dinner but enroute spotted this restaurant’s colourful signage outside. We could see it was busy so went in expecting to be told there were no tables available as we hadn’t pre-booked, however the young, friendly server took us straight over to a table and brought our drinks promptly. The starters were ok (scallops & tempura prawns), ie portions average and cooked well but nothing memorable. However, the main course was outstanding! We ordered a sharing meat platter that consisted of steaks, ribs, lamb cutlets and grilled chicken all served with chips & salad. All the meats were cooked to perfection. The steak & lamb was melt in your mouth tender. Haven’t enjoyed a meat dish so much in ages! Great find and would definitely visit again if back in the area!

We attended the beach cabaret site at the recent Bournemouth airshow any were blown away by the quality of the marque and the professionalism of entertainment. The whole team created a relaxed and fun atmosphere which I add was free to anyone attending the air show. Drinks were not over priced- food pleantiful and tasty and ambiance perfect . We went for a quick drink and stayed the whole day. Please , please come back next year

First visit for me. Upon arrival there was a singer in the restaurant. No problem with his singing but it was far too loud. Maybe more suited to a bar. I don’t want to go out for dinner and have to shout at my friends...
