Food was ok but pricey for what it was

My Mother had her 80th Birthday meal at the restaurant last night and I had to write a review as she had the most incredible time surrounded by all her friends! They have all commented how fabulous the food was and we were able to organise everything with the help of the quite frankly brilliant staff. It’s a little gem of a bistro where the food, drink and welcome are of a very high standard. Thank you so much to the staff who made it such a special night and I would recommend anyone to book a table there for a celebration or just a lovely meal

Had a fantastic evening celebrating with friends. As a group of ten, everyone was impressed not only with the quality but how well their food was cooked and presented. I had mussels to start which were cooked to perfection and plump and juicy 😋. The sauce just tasted divine. Its the 3rd time at this little bistro and I found a gem of a place and will be definitely visiting it again.

We had a party of 31 in January.. From the booking to arranging meals and seating us all to giving us a fabulous choice of three courses for all tastes it was brilliant… The staff are fantastic and really welcoming.. The food was brought out to each one of us hot and delicious and all at the same time… We really couldn’t fault anything about our evening and will definitely be going back… Well done Simon and your staff…

I took mum there for her 90th birthday. They put a birthday banner up next to our table and the service, food and ambience was perfect. Will definitely book for the festive menu next month. Thanks for making her birthday special

We popped in on the off chance of a table on a Friday night. They were so accommodating and quickly cleared and prepared a table for us. Food was delicious and the service was great 👍

Me and the Mrs went last night and the service and food was amazing the steak was one of the best I've ever had they definitely have a top quality chef 👨‍🍳 in the kitchen and the staff are so polite we will 100% be going back.

Lovely restaurant, really nice food. The staff & service were excellent. I would definitely recommend a visit here. The restaurant was also fully booked with a nice atmosphere.

Both currys were powdery and grainy in texture and tasted like they were made from a packet mix. We visited on a Sunday, and the vegetable curry looked like it just been made using the veg from the standard Sunday roast dinner ie. Broccoli, batons of carrots, peas, and potatoes halved in their skins. The 'triffle' looked delicious but again tasted as if it had been spooned out of tins and jars; the custard was exactly like tinned, ready-made custard. The 2 meals, 2 desserts and 2 soft drinks came to a few pence under £50. Definitely wasn't value for money and we won't be going back. On the plus side, the restaurant was spotlessly clean, the mango chutney was delicious, and the staff were super-friendly and very polite.

Nice little village bistro serving well cooked and delicious food. An extensive vegan and vegetarian menu caters for all tastes! Only minor complaint - needs a bit of soft furnishings to soak up the sound as it can be quite loud once everyone starts getting lubricated!

Good quality food went as a group of four only one disappointment the Gammon dish wasnt of the usual standard although not complained about as it was a rare experience

Stopped for lunch. Amazed by the menu - light bites, full menu, vegan menu, children's menu. Our 4 meals were all cooked perfectly and well presented. Staff were attentive and obliging. Prices were good for the quality of food. Would unhesitatingly recommend.

All the food was delicious (the battered fish, lasagna, grilled fish) but the stand out definitely for me was the mutton!!

Lovely family meal at the Fullbrook Bistro, delicious food and the service couldn’t have been more attentive, will definitely visit again.

I have eaten here 3 times over the space of 6weeks, with family and friends. The food, welcome, presentation and ambience has been consistently great! Lovely menu, something for everyone including vegans and vegetarians. Drinks are not as expensive as other restaurants, so it’s a win:win. The staff are very friendly and are a credit to Simon. Very COVID compliant too! Thanks everyone. See you very soon.

We visited the bistro as a last minute booking. The only table available on a Friday night was outside which wasn’t a problem as the weather was fine.We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who sat us down and took our drinks order. Despite being busy they were delivered promptly. I ordered the beef burger and my husband ordered the gammon with sauté potatoes. We didn’t wait long for the food to arrive. It was delicious and very nicely presented. The portions were large. The prices were very reasonable. It was lovely to receive service with a smile. If we were ever visiting the area again we would certainly book to eat there again.

We have family in Pontyclun and pass through the town several times per week. In fact, we are about to move there. I have always been curious about Fullbrook's but never eaten there, until two weeks ago that is. Wow, why did I leave it so long? The atmosphere, food and service is first class. Nothing pretentious, just excellent cooking obviously using top quality ingredients. I had a sirloin steak that was cooked exactly to my liking (medium-rare) and was as soft as a fillet steak. At £17.95 it was excellent value compared to another I had the week before in Penarth, at £23.95. This restaurant is a keeper and it will be our first port of call to celebrate our new house after we move into the area next Monday.

Table for 6 just after Re-opening from lockdown. Staff were fabulous, nothing to much, the food was varied and very good. We were the last left in the restaurant snd at no time were we hurried. Would happily recommend this restaurant.

Literally the BEST restaurant around! The food is simply outstanding! Especially the signature dish of “Fullbrooks chicken”The staff are extremely welcoming, and friendly. It was the first time today we took our 2 year old, and there was no issues with her being their either. She loved her sausage and chips! The sticky toffee pudding was delicious! Highly recommend for couples and families!

A small restaurant that serves decent food at a reasonable price. Due to the present restrictions a limited menu was on offer and atmosphere was a bit subdued but service was of a high standard. We have dined here on a few occasions and not been disappointed.

from the time we walked through the door to the end of our meal we felt appreciated and that we where like a family member, all the staff where very friendly and appreciated us being there, the service and the quality of the food was Excellent, it was a belated Anniversary meal with my wife, we could have not found better. 5Stars to you all well done the Fullbrook Family.

Visited Fullbrooks this evening on a whim as we live in the same household and really wanted some form of normality.On arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile. Starters or calamari, king prawns and the chicken & chorizo where stunning following by absolutely perfectly cooked rump steaks to our liking with chips, mushroom, tomato, onions rings and a sauce.Couldn’t have enjoyed the evening more. First class service, delicious food and wine and a lovely atmosphere and setting. Thank you!

Brilliant! We came here with my father and my son for an early birthday meal. Service was fantastic, attentive, and considerate given the current regulations. Our waitress was very thoughtful and quickly arranged a happy birthday sing song for my son. Food amazing, people amazing, we will be back!

An extensive vegetarian menu available. Lovely restaurant and all of the meals were cooked beautifully. The vegatarian pie had amazing flavours & everything was cooked perfectly.

A friend gave myself and partner a Fullbrooks gift voucher, so we decided to use it one evening. Lovely vegan meal for two which included battered cauliflower starter and a Thai vegan pie as a main. Great atmosphere, lovely efficient and friendly service. All in all a good evening.

We called in lunchtime today without booking. It was our first visit. We were welcomed by Shirley who was very friendly. There is an extensive menu for lunchtime snacks and also the main menu. We both ordered the sirloin steak off the main menu. It came with chips, saute or new potatoes (we ordered one chips and one saute) mushrooms, onion rings and a dish of fresh veg (carrots, red cabbage and broccoli). We were also offered a choice of sauces to accompany the steak. The meal was served by a lovely lady from the kitchen who made us feel welcome. Everything was very good and fresh tasting. We shared a dessert of apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream - again very good. Would definately recommend this lovely Bistro and will visit again. Thank you!

Excellent visit once again at FullbrooksWe had the Sunday lunch here for the first time having visited the restaurant for a normal meal that was lovely. As we have 3 people within our family that has Coeliac this restaurant is ideal as they are knowledgeable of how important food preparation is and not to cross contamination. THEY ALWAYS REASSURE US what we can eat and what we can't. This is the best restaurant around our area that caters for Gluten Free. The service is always excellent as well as the food. Would recommend to anyone who has a Gluten intolerant / coeliac

What a night! We booked the restaurant for 36 friends and family to celebrate a 40th birthday.Simon and the team went over and above, the food was excellent and we finished the evening with a bit of dancing! Highly recommend for a private party night.

Had my 40th birthday celebration last night in Fullbrooks. I had 35 friends and family with a specially put together 3 course menu. The food was outstanding - beautifully presented, all served together and was hot! After the meal, the music was turned up, coloured lights in the ceiling allowed for people to dance if they fancied.Fullbrooks is a hidden gem .... thank you Simon and your team - you were all amazing and can't wait to return.

Attended my son’s 40th Birthday Party dinner here at the Fullbrook Bistro last night 22/2/20. We had taken over the whole restaurant and what a treat we had. Great surroundings, lovely staff and the food out of this world. 36 people all sitting down at once and being served a variety of items pre booked from a great menu choice.Have no hesitation in throughly recommending this restaurant either for a meal for two or a party such as ours. A big thank you to the chef and kitchen staff and an equal thanks to the serving staff.
