Fuel Bar Cafe in Withington: Where the coffee is so strong, even the Wi-Fi needs a break to catch its breath! I ordered an espresso, and now my watch is ticking in double-time. The baristas must have a black belt in caffeine martial arts. Just be prepared to leave with a jittery smile and a sudden urge to organize your sock drawer. Five stars for turning sleepy afternoons into caffeinated adventures! You might need a GPS to find your chill afterward, but who needs calm when you can conquer the day at 100 mph on a coffee high?

Great little spot with a brilliant menu. Lots of healthy choices and simply amazing value for money.

The food was nice, but the meal I ordered came without quite a few of the ingredients mentioned on the menu. Once the food had been served, no-one came to check how things were or if I needed anything else. Overall, not much attention paid to detail or customers.

Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, let down by 2 bad coffees, would give it another go as even the best places serve a bad coffee occasionally but both the flat white and cappuccino were just coffee and flat hot milk which is a shame. I didn't eat but the menu looked good and well priced as well.

Always really tasty and great value for the portion size. It's been in Withington for years and is the best lunch on the high street.

Food is very affordable and delicious. Drinks are again very affordable and alcohol is served strong and generally cheap. They have board games for customers which is a nice touch too. Lost a star because I don't think I've ever seen the toilets in a clean state, same with the tables and chairs. Regardless this is a local spot me and my friends love.

Cute little cafe! We were there for a gig but the drinks were a good price and the food looked amazing, especially for the price and the portions. The space upstairs for the gigs is a VIBE and is really intimate. More gigs in Withington and fallow! We need these live bands promoted before the scene dies, what a way to do this than here!

Well-priced, tasty food, plenty of good beer options and a great range of options. The only thing that needs work is the toilets.

Cosy vibes, gorgeous bar staff, boardgames to play at the tables, tasty cake. Cool space upstairs for events 👌🏻 will be coming back

What can I say. This is one of the best places to play a gig. Amazing sound engineer. Amazing room with Twin Peaks stage. The vegan cakes are absolutely to die for! A must visit place for any band or anyone looking for good food with a great atmosphere.

Fuel used to be a great hangout, but surly staff and food that isn't up to much have really spoilt it. Not sure I'd go again.

Great portions, very cheap - veggie menu with everything seemingly home made. Would recommend the quesidilla and pakoras on the small plates section - but these defo are not small plates - they are basically like main meals! Personally wouldnt recommend the breakfast as it was a little bland compared to all the other interesting options on the menu and specials. I always leave here full and satisfied. Great drinks selection if you are after beers and spirits - again good prices. There is usually something happening here, gigs, music which can be quite loud when the upstairs door is open but this is fitting to the vibe, welcoming with nice music in the background and relaxed staff - this place is never empty!

lovely long-standing joint in withington village. tasty veggie grub and a nice atmosphere.

Atmosphere is great as well as the music. Staff are disinterested, food is bland and made me ill, justified by the price though. Coffee is just embarrassing. Just another place which lives off its image rather than what it's supposed to live off.

Craft beers and opens late, owner is nice. Bands play upstairs, a mix of students and locals

Really disappointed with the new staffs attitude. Been going to fuel for years but today may be the last. They were not able to make a slight alteration for a kids meal.

This was my 3rd or 4th visit. To be honest, the breakfast is the winning menu item. 11/10. Lunch is nice but not as amazing as their breakfast.

The tea was one of the worst cups of tea I've ever had, but the breakfast was delicious, the staff very friendly and its a cool little place. Reasonable priced booze too if you fancy a bit! Very busy, so always a good sign. Work on the tea though.

I'm not vegetarian or vegan and really enjoy this place. Been a few times and never disappointed. Staff are nice and place has a nice atmosphere. It is a bit small so defo go when it's not to busy.

Been here quite a few times over the years - food is affordable and simply delicious. Looking forward to visiting some of their events upstairs again!

The best atmosphere! I love it in here and the food is incredibly reasonably priced. Highly recommend to any vegetarians in the area who want some bang for their buck. The smoothies are also delicious and even though I’m pretty sure I’m lactose intolerant I sometimes can’t resist their chocolate mud shake. It is also always a lovely night when it doubles as a venue… recently attended the electro night Fluff which again had the loveliest friendliest and safest atmosphere, as well as showcasing some really great performers.

lovely stuff. very fairly priced, and excellent vibes. yet to have food here but i have heard nothing but praise! everyone is so friendly and the cake is absolutely amazing. £4 a cider is so good for manny mate! do wish there was a cider on draft but i may have just not looked close enough (damn u specsavers u gave me the wrong prescription!!!). so good mate and big fan of gender neutral single toilets ❤️❤️❤️❤️

A centrepiece of Manchester’s student life. Another great place to get info on what’s going on in the city, brilliant food for a hangover, great live music and overall a very lax place to go to. So much going on. So much great food. Great prices for food and drink. Good community involvement.

Great friendly atmosphere inside, though it is very student centric. Food is cheap and surprisingly large portions, not a rip off whatsoever. They hold events which can be great. sometimes I’ll come for my morning coffee, stay to study and then not have a few relatively cheap drinks while watching whatever band or comedy show etc is playing

A really chilled, enviroement with a great selection of food and drinks. Space up and downstairs for groups of people. Overall a really nice cafe within Withington with a great selection of veggie/vegan meals and good staff too.

Nice food, fairly priced and good eclectic music on the jukebox. Chilled vibes and decent place for a beer too. They have got my food order wrong a couple of times though, and the tables are often sticky / could do with a good spray down. Would of given 5* otherwise.

We really wanted to try this place as we’re vegetarian. We took our 3 year old with us for lunch. It’s not aimed at young children or families, but it worked out great. He had an adult portion of soup and the staff brought a small spoon for him upon request and he just ate what he could. He loved the soup! We all enjoyed our food and the service was fast and friendly. They even changed a drink for me without any issues. It was busy but the service was really quick. It’s definitely on the more rustic/student side decor wise, but it’s worth visiting for the yummy food!

good prices however, tables are never clean, have never seen a table being sprayed. staff were rude when we moved tables. in addition to this, there's a Constant flow of customers checking if there's room when the place is quite clearly full. in terms of covid this means people walking around your food whilst you are trying to enjoy a meal.

Great place. Good house beer and tasty veggie food. Gigs upstairs often but if there are no seats downstairs and no event on upstairs, it can be a little weird to sit up there as there doesn’t seem to ever be any music on... All in all a great place :)

A South Manchester institution. A real gem of a veggie cafe/bar/venue. The food is excellent; comforting, filling and cheap. Most of the options are carbs on carbs but I'm not complaining - that's what makes it delicious! It has a brilliant atmosphere and a wonderfully mixed clientele. To the people complaining about the decor, go to a chain cafe - the bohemian ramshackle nature of Fuel is part of its brilliance. Its just so versatile! A great place for breakfast after a heavy night, for lunch with friends, for a quiet afternoon reading a book in the corner and for a night out - as the upstairs is a venue that regularly hosts gigs and nights.

Really delicious and very reasonably priced vegetarian and vegan food. Was really surprised by the portion sizes for the cost. They do a good range of beer and drinks. The coffee was excellent. Really nice decor and ambience. Would definitely recommend.

This place is hosting bands once a month for so called open mics but instead of 3 songs they ask for 25 mins of music and never offer any paid gig!!! Professional musicians - please be aware of it as your years of gaining skills should be paid off! Not even free drink provided there! Still good for amateurs anyway.

Nice atmosphere and quite a big menu for vegetarians and vegans. A good place to go for late breakfasts too. I have listed it as 4 stars instead of 5 just because the wait can be long if you are going at peak time and some of the tables aren't very stable.
