This ship has delicious food, and eccentric better service. The staff are lovely and we regularly come to eat here.

Ordered online for 18:30. Still waiting at 18:46. No apologies. Food good but please stick to times. Still best chippy in Yorkshire

I’m quite fussy with fish and chips - I hate bones or when everything’s too greasy! Frydays are spot on - everything’s fresh, nicely cooked and the staff are super friendly and down to earth - enjoy!

Best chip shop for miles, even though I live around4 miles away, I will only ever come to this fish and chip shop. Not oily and always cooked to perfection. Chips are perfect.

Asked for fish and chips 3 times, and was only given fish and chips twice. Also have to stand and wait 5/10 minutes even though there were no other customers.

Y según aquellos que se unen a mí comiendo porciones regulares, no están menos satisfechos con sus comidas. Siempre generoso, nada grasiento y simplemente delirante. Lo mejor, imo.

I have no idea where the recent bad reviews come from. A competitor, perhaps ? This is the best fish and chip shop around. Cooking is in vegetable oil, not greasy dripping, so there is no stink. Everything tastes better than you would expect, the staff and service are first class. Which is probably why they are always busy.

Very disappointed. Had been thoroughly looking forward to fish and chips all week to find that it was closed during the opening hours! Had been recommended by a friend but will certainly not be passing the recommendation on to others.

As fish & chips go, this is s good as it gets. Generous portions...but the fish was to die for. It was busy so it took a little while to get a table but that was no problem. Its a family run business and atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. Could not recommend Fryday's highly enough

Based on the good reviews we decided to get a take away fish and chips from here following a hospital visit. This was first visit and definitely the last. The batter on the haddocks was soggy bland and tasteless as were the chips. I cannot stress how disappointed we were when we sat down at home to eat these awful fish and chips. Most of the takeaway was put in the bin and we had sandwiches instead. This was our honest experience so I would question who writes these reviews.

Got some fish and chips from the new frydays chip shop on whingate road, they were nice. We will probably use it again in the future.

Fridays is a brilliant place for fish and chips. Fish is fried when you order, chips are nice and crunchy and the staff are polite and friendly. A little pricey but I'm prepared to pay for quality.

After a long drive up from Bucks we asked a local for best fish near by and they reccomend this place. Huge portions. Great fresh fish. We too would strongly recommend.

Frydays are Coeliac accredited and my wife confirmed that their gluten free fish and chips are far better than the average!

The staff here are always smiling, the fish and chips are the best in Roundhay, if not Leeds. The food is freshly cooked. Never much of a wait, and if you can not be bother to drive there, ring up and place your order, and it will be delivered.

Good service and food all round, about a ten minute walk from roundhay park is worth it though, great customer serivce

What is it with this outlet that makes serving a simple dish such as fish and chips so difficult. Cold over priced portions this is the second time I've been and the staff are more concerned about how they look than providing a reasonable service.

Came here as they have a gluten free batter option. The food was delicious and you get plenty for a medium sized portion! A little on the expensive side but for the portion sizes and quality of food, it's definitely worth it.

Visited frydays last week..spent nearly £40...food not so good once got home..but worst of all a few of the girls in the shop seemed to be under the influence of a substance..very disappointed have been going frydays for years..not so sure now...

Me detuve para almorzar con pescado Butty, papas fritas, salsa de curry y una lata de Coca Cola. Me sorprendió, así que lo menos que se puede decir es que casi 10 cuando el pescado no era de gran tamaño. El pescado tenía un sabor un tanto extraño con un fuerte sabor a boca que no era como ningún otro abadejo que había tenido antes, mientras que las patatas fritas eran insípidas y sin sabor, aparte de tener un sabor ligeramente parecido al paracetamol al final. Sin embargo, en el lado positivo, quedé satisfecho con la velocidad y la calidad del servicio, y la salsa de curry fue perfecta. En general, creo que pasará un tiempo antes de que regrese aquí.

Según el menú en línea que es 5 sobre lo que se anuncia. Cuando me pregunté por qué un aumento del 50%, debido al gran aumento de las patatas! ¿Son seleccionados a Harrods?

Estaba tan ansioso por probar algo de pescado y papas fritas y, al no poder visitar mi habitual chispita, decidí finalmente probar el que estaba a la vuelta de la esquina de mi casa. Me sorprendió pagar más de 8 por un pescado y papas fritas y guisantes blandos, pero pensé que debían ser buenos por este precio. ¿Qué tan equivocado estaba? los guisantes blandos no sabían absolutamente nada, nunca he tenido guisantes blandos que no prueben nada, y lo mismo podría decirse sobre el resto. Simplemente no había sabor alguno y era realmente suave. Creo que necesitan gastar menos dinero en los envases de lujo y más en el sabor de la comida.

Good fish and chips. Our little one was recently diagnosed coeliac and Frydays cook her fish separately in a separate fryer with different utensils. Can be a little greasy when been standing about. But we will definitely be back.

Been meaning to try this place for some time now, when I did I was sadly disappointed! The chips were hard, the fish didn’t taste great and there was a weird kind of atmosphere! Wouldn’t recommend!

I visited this establishment recently the staff were warm and welcoming but the fish and chips not so great as the chips were dry and old and the fish had a fishy taste to it towards the thin part such a shame I used to be a regular at nash’s been looking for a new chippy I’ve heard good reports about the fisherman’s lodge I will be trying them later this week.

I read a few poor reviews of this chippy and had to go back to see what had happened. The answer was that it was as excellent as always. The quality is unsurpassed in the area and in fact is as good as anywhere I've been. The price reflects this a little but it's worth every penny. I now travel several miles to get there - and still do. Thanks

I had high expectations for some lovely fish and chips .. I can honestly say these were the worst fish and chips I have ever had . So expensive too! Don’t waste your money . Awful!!!!!!! . Never again ! 🤮

I drive past this place all the time and finally got around to visiting it! I had high expectations but was very disappointed. The service was crap and the fish and chips were disgusting. Not sure if this is a one off instance or regular occurrence, however I wouldn’t recommend and most definitely won’t be going back!

Fry days provide pretty good fish and chips ,service is quick and friendly. My only complaint is that when taken home to eat ,about 300yards the chips are just barely warm. The fish is always piping hot so I have to ask why the chips can't be the same.

We have used Fryday's numerous times as they deliver but honestly, I think I will drive out and collect from elsewhere in future. The batter is light, the fish generally good quality but the batter has no taste as its cooked in oil not traditional dripping.

My favourite fish and chip shop I travel quite a distance just because I think they are the best around food is always cooked fresh girls behind counter always smiling helpful and friendly they have seating area inside and out good quality food and a low price! If you haven’t yet tried it you don’t know what your missing you won’t be disappointed I highly recommend

Good fish & chips but I have currently waited (admittedly on a miserable rainy cold Friday evening) for over an hour and a half for my home delivery. Still waiting despite a reminder call. Will get my cost and boots on next time.

I live a few streets away and use frydays quite often as they are the closest to me and they deliver.

Not good at all, had to wait 1 hour 20 mins for a local delivery. They said sorry been busy, for that long don’t believe it, shame really as we normally buy from shop and they are good quality, But never agai, sorry

Fab non greasy light fresh Fish and chips

My wife and I ordered delivery from Frydays twice a month for over a year without a problem. In February this year we moved home into sheltered housing, and checked they would deliver to our new address which, according to a Google map, is exactly 3 miles away from the shop. Again we ordered twice a month. Last week, however, after ordering a man called us back and abruptly declared that our address was too far away for delivery, saying that time is money. My wife pointed out that they had delivered to us since February. The man, whom my wife assumed to be the owner, said he had no recollection of ever delivering to us, and insisted we were 4.1 miles away, too far. He wouldn't listen to what was said, so my wife hung up in disgust. Frydays produce is excellent and we will miss it greatly..... Had this been a normal review I would have rated it a 5. As it is, however, they are lucky to be given a 1!

Not the nearest fish shop to me but the one I always go to when at home. Fish is cooked fresh so you can be stood waiting for a bit if a few people are in. The girls serving are always really bubbly and polite. Come in cardboard box with fish and chips separate so quality not affected during transit. Only slight downside is price as they aren't the cheapest for the size you get. But I guess you pay for quality and to be honest standard size is plenty for me

How anyone can find any fault with Frydays fish and chips is a mystery. This has to be the best fish and chips served in the area. The menu is extensive, with a very decent veggie range as well. You can eat in on real plates, at no extra cost. Everything is cooked separately. The fish is very fresh and the chips are bone dry. No grease at all. It's worth mentioning the staff here as well, including the owner, all very polite. This place is also very clean. There is even free lolipops for the kids. Nothing to complain about.....And that is very rare these days. Well done Frydays !!!!!!

Has everything you want from a chip shop! Good portions, nice food, options for all the extras (scraps, curry sauce, mushy peas etc), friendly staff and even free little forks to eat it with. About as proper as a proper chip shop gets!

Me and my husband went for lunch .... I am on diet and I was very happy that the offer salad !It is the first time that I go into a fish and chips shop and they offer a fresh salad without mayonnaise .Anyway when the food came I was shocked and I mean shocked a small bowl of salad 4.95 ??? It that s joke ???? It doesn't not even say on the menu penal side salad advertised as SALAD !!!It was a joke overpriced 4,95 ..... I am so upset ..... really I am a Area manager from subway and I am always try to go to independent restaurants to support .... but this is one of the responses why this restaurant never be successful!!!!

I have been a customer of Frydays ever since the shop opened and I thought it was about time I wrote them a review!I am very particular with my order as I like my fish well done and lightly battered and they never have a problem doing that for me. Everything is cooked to order so if you're prepared to wait a little for fresh food then I can't recommend this fish shop any more.I am shocked to see the most recent review for Frydays is so negative when I haven't ever had a bad word to say about it here!My grandparents owned a fish and chip shop many years ago so I know how much hard work and effort goes in to running a fish shop - it is not your standard 9-5 job.Many of my family and friends have become regular customers at Frydays as I have said nothing but good things about it - they always mention how nice and clean the shop is and that it isn't your typical grubby chip shop.Its worth every penny as the care and quality of the food is at a very high standard.Great fish shop!

Certainly not traditional f+c taste, very generic and bland taste. Don't expect secret batter recipies handed down over generations. Quite how YEP managed to promote this chip shop as one of the best in Leeds suggests lack of knowledge and experience of the shop. At the best it belies the poor to standard fayre being given to the public. £12.95 for twice with curry sauce I expect consistent high standards at the price but fish batter was poor and lacked taste. It was crispy but let down by it's blandness. The chips were nothing special with a good dose of triple fried crispy ones thrown in there to bulk things up no doubt. Girlfriends f+c were worse, the chips were raw. We ended up throwing them away. I would steer clear of this shop, real life prices and quality is far below many false, misleading and curated reviews on the internet. I live round the corner and I'm speaking from experience today - 19/03/17.

We really fancied fish and chips and we usually get from our usual spot but we were in the area and decided to try this place. I really liked it, the fish and chips didn't taste greasy at all, fish had nice flavour and batter was crispy. Chips were not greasy at all and the portion was quite big. Usually after I eat fish and chips I feel really heavy afterwards but after this meal I didn't feel any discomfort. Would highly recommend and would visit this place again!

Was up in Leeds for a few days on business and wanted something different from a high street sandwich.Ordered the medium fish and chips which is haddock, I do prefer cod but this was good, very well prepared and tasted great. Had it with a side of mushy peas, tasty but a little salty.Would recommend, quality meal. Not cheap but then quality never is.

A fish and chippy with a seating area cafe. Excellent food. Gluten free fush and chips are just like the real thing. Also, they provide gluten free vinegar.

We visited here on a cold wet evening, but our experience certainly lifted our spirits! The female servers behind the counter were smiling, charming and welcoming and we decided to eat in the small area with tables. We were served shortly after.The fish was piping hot, white and succulent with a light crispy batter, and the chips were also hot, golden brown and crispy on the outside - white and fluffy inside! The portions were enormous and I struggled to eat all mine. It was a fabulous fresh meal.The restaurant holds an award for the quality of its food and its is well deserved.It was clean, bright and somewhere to go over and over again.AND THEY DELIVER!!

This place is an immaculately run business committed to fresh tasty exemplary fish and chips and other sundries ..I think it's run by a mega experienced Leeds Greek Cypriot family who obviously have deep knowledge of product and service.. if you crave fish and chips I implore you to try this place .

I read recently they won an award and my experience of this place is that it is well deserved. Fast service (delivery if needed but I walk to collect) Chips perfect. Only complaint is they don't do a proper Yorkshire fishcake with the layers of potato and fish rather than a mash up. But, will keep coming here for my sausage and chips!

We called in on a recommendation, sadly the girl that served us was unecessarily brusk turse and unhelpful. Bad day or not put a smile on or go home. The large portion i would say was a standard one compared to ours back home in Burley but hefty on price. The chips I couldn't fault but the fish was dry over cooked and practically inedible. Very disappointed as we were saving ourselves for them whilst returning from holiday.

Always look forward to fish & chip night when we're getting it from Frydays. We usually get take away. Staff are always super friendly, and make you feel welcome. Fish is fresh, with a fantastic light batter, and tastes great. The chips are pretty good too!!

We've been coming here for a while - staff are friendly and the large fish are indeed large!The 5 stars reflects a rating for a chippy, as opposed for a posh meal out. It is well-stocked, prompt (can get busy Friday night in particular), and, as mentioned above and elsewhere in these reviews, the portions aren't small (unless you order small). Will visit again. Probably tonight - have suddenly become hungry!

Came here with 15 friends on a bitterly cold evening. The friendly staff moved all the tables round so that we could all sit together. We all ordered and paid individually and 10 minutes later we were all served together with the most beautiful fish and chips, nothing was greasy, the batter was crisp and the fish flaky and white. As for the chips chunky and again not greasy. Delicious, we will be back.

Up in Leeds for a few days and had to try real fish n chips compared to London.Portion size was big the small would be enough for one person if you added mushy peas to it. Medium is big and large is enough for two maybe 3 people.The only thing I was told was it should of been cooked in beef dripping.Not veg oil.But the fish was nice and crispy and stayed like that until we got home.If I am back up in Leeds I will return.

My friend and I were delighted to see such a good choice of menu and reasonable prices. We chose to sit in and we're pleased with such good service. The fish was spot on, perfect and golden brown chips. The mushy peas were also very good. We were serviced by a very friendly smiley wsitress. She even asked how we would like our tea.

Tasted much better Chips. Could cut them chunkier . Nothing to shout about . Very very average . Fish ok but again very average. Tasted better. Long wait in chippy.

Visit Fridays regularly, and never cease to be impressed. The quality of their fish is amazing, as are all the accompaniments we have ( chips, peas, beans, tea ). Staff are always really welcoming, and I cannot fault the prices. Just love the fact that we have such a fantastic place so close to where we live.

I ordered over the telephone for a delivery service, for Two fish and chip meals. I was more than pleasantly surprised with the courteous telephone manner of employee. Then, to my surprise our meals were delivered super fast.To top it it all off, absolutely top notch, well presented, not oily and tasted DELICIOUS. Money well spent. Went to Friday's today. Winner of the fish shop of the year. And rightly so. What a wonderful fish and chips a real credit to the fish frier Maria. Absolutely gorgeous. I think it's the best fish I've had for many a day. And would definitely recommend it to everyone a lovely staff and very pleasant Will be going again. Definitely.

High standard good quality Fish & Chips.Fried just right, not greasy & you get the choice of small, medium or large fish. Quite expensive if you choose to eat in as it is not exactly what I would call a restaurant. I would visit again & take out.

Been going here for years.Nice polite staff. Crispy and dry fish and chips. Decent portion sizes.We usually order 1 standard fish n chips with an extra standard fish. That's usually enough for 2 adults and 2 young children.You won't be disappointed.

I've often used this takeaway for a quick supper. Today I had a friend who enjoys fish and chips so thought it might be an idea to try the cafe.Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't sit outside.The tables were clean, the fish and chips were well cooked in vegetable oil and there as a gluten free alternative. The portion was a good size. There was even a plastic tomato for the ketchup.So basic but perfectly acceptable. And not expensive. And what it said on the tin. So why was I a little disappointed. Because fish and chips of this quality probably deserved a better setting, a choice of desert perhaps.Still it would be churlish to deduct a star. And as a takeaway there could be no reason so to do in any event.

Visited Frydays because the queue at my local was too long and I was extremely satisfied. The fish and chips tasted like I was in Scarborough and I would definitely come again. The restaurant was really clean and my server Manuela was lovely and really seemed to enjoy her job. I was served quickly and even though it's more than I'd normally spend, it was worth every penny.

I'm no stranger to a fish supper, and I can honestly say that Fryday's is one of the best! Massive portions for a very reasonable price, the kids absolutely love it and you can eat in or take away!

I visited Frydays last night (1/3/2015) and I ordered for me and my brother, he had fish and chips and i had battered sausage and chips! It was delicious the chips were cooked perfectly and so fresh! The fish was lovely and so delicious. The shop is so clean and all the girls are so pleasant and smiley the whole time we were there...definitley will be returning and recommending to everyone!

This comparatively new fish & chip shop is different. Some seats for eating-in and yet clearly a takeaway. TV running constant news and food largely cooked to order. So fresh and friendly service to boot. Finally, a significant impression of Frydays is that it's very very CLEAN. Again and Again.
