Excellent local bar with a lively atmosphere and screens showing sport in the main bag. Also has s more intimate, cosy snug with many original features. A true gem.

Great service and a great pint of McEwan's 80/- ale (heavy) not the cheapest but if I want to be snobbish, it keeps the riff-raff away, sorry riff-raff!

I had my brother's funeral send off here in the lovely lounge at the back of the bar. There were just a few of us but the staff were fabulous. The barmaid was excellent and the sandwiches and sausage rolls went down a treat (including vegetarian options) Really good prices too. I would certainly recommend Frews

Very friendly pub! Staff have excellent customer service. We have recently moved to Dundee, and can see us being regulars. Even the locals are friendly and respectful. It's lovely when people are are considered, and quite, when having a drink.

A basic bar but the staff were lovely. Sport on the telly so it lacked that Friday vibe. A decent pint of Guinness too. Unfortunately an absolute roaster interrupted our chat and kicked off a bit but the staff dealt with it well.

Barman swore at and threatened me. BULLY for him. I'm DISABLED. Made false accusations to POLICE. BULLY for him. POLICE attended . First officer G repeated false accusations. Was HIMSELF aggressive. Told him accusations were false. His colleague slightly delayed acted professionally throughout. Told no audit end of matter. ABSOLUTELY not. Happily take civil action against staff at frews and athletic. My legal right at my cost. My reputation matters to me TRUST is everything. Will be calling witnesses hostile. POLICE included. Lets sort this out in COURT. BARMAN hit the heights when he said " make sure to cross the road when a bus is coming " GENIUS from a person of limited INTELLECT and INTELLIGENCE. Unfit to be serving public.

Excellent, top-notch pub, games free to watch, nice selection of beers, friendly staff. Edit: After seeing so many bars, I can say Frews is the best bar in Dundee. If Frews were a person, I would hug and thank them for existing.

Meat up with the lads from work and it was good to see them again as I'm retired. We had a good afternoon aided by the excellent service from the owner and his staff. A good selection of beers and spirits are available which means that there is a drink to suit everyone's tastes.

Great place for a pint prior to the football, attentive and friendly staff, good beer and fantastic football photographs all over the walls in the small bar.

A beautiful old traditional pub with two side rooms, one of which opens when the football is on. Staff are very well organised and efficient. Toilets are spotless and cleaned regularly. This is a friendly bar and definitely worth visiting.

1 star doesn't even deserve to be star rated i entered this establishment on Thursday night got refused service as the rude barman told my partner "I'm not serving you cause of your eyes" There was nothing wrong with my partners eyes and the barman couldn't be arsed telling us an reasonable explanation will avoid this pub in future Very rude

Went in to bar and one of our company didn't notice the step and slipped as we were not regulars we didn't notice the sign but to quite honest its a health and safety matter the step should actually be highlighted in some way. then it would be easier to see rather than a sign in the alcove Then to be told that we were not getting served as we had had enough to drink was absolutely ridiculous. Never even asked the person if he was ok. Would not recommend this bar to anyone and to be quite honest it was empty but if they carry on like that then that's why. Bar staff have to chill a bit more and look after customers. Totally Disgusted

Decent bar but needs a wee make over... Prices are a bit high for this end of town (£3.05 - Tennents) and with 5+ pubs cheaper within 1/2 a mile, £2 - Mcadams, £2.30 - The Hill Bar, £2.50 - Athletic, The High Corner, £2.60 - Halley's, £2.90 - The Barrels So maybe pricing out the RIFF RAF type of logic or simply making the most out of the footie crowd.
