Frescoes Coffee House in Bedford

Customer for nearly 3 decades now, and just keep on comng back. Simply one of the best places to eat anywhere and a cut above the rest with the best owner and friendly staff, love 'em all. The fresco outside is lovely too. Recommended!

Wonderfully cosy little café serving genuinely good food. Enjoyed the warm fresh scones.

I went for a brunch. The cafe was full. The personnel was friendly even though they were busy. Excellent food, excellent service. I recommend it.

I went to Freshcos today and had a salami, cheddar, black olive ciabatta with some crisps and coleslaw on the side. I also had tea and a caramel shortbread. I was happy with the food, service and overall vibe of the establishment. I would go there again and would be happy recommend it to family and friends.

January 2022 We really like this independent coffee shop which does lovely food including breakfasts and lunches. We pop in when we're in Bedford. Why wouldn't you use an independent, local business??? Nice owner and good, efficient yet friendly service. Lovely smells coming from the kitchen!!! Look up this independent cafe if you are in Bedford. You won't regret it!

Love a Frescoes breakfast. Fast and very friendly service, beautifully presented and delicious. Tasty Bedfordshire banger all for a good price. Add a great cup of coffee and we come away feeling well fed and very happy

It gave me stomachade and diarrhoea. I ordered alternative milk and probably they used normal whole milk or expired milk. This explains why I got so sick from my stomach.

Nothing was bad per se but i felt it was all a little underwhelming given the price. I had a latte and egg and bacon bagel. The bagel was really dry and scrambled egg was just okay. The coffee was quite average but it was quite a generic blend. All in all id say i was a little disappointed unfortunately as i had high hopes for this place.

Up to Bedford from South Coast to pick up some purchases. Went into town centre for a quick bite and happened upon this establishment. Small but clean, tidy and nicely decorated and furnished. Good coffee and excellent tuna & cheddar ciabatta with coleslaw and crisps

Staff were so friendly, great service with a smile. Seating inside, with two separate rooms upstairs aswell as outdoor seating which was lovely. Coffee was perfect aswell as food! Location is great, right near town but away from all the crowd. Overall not a bad thing to say, lovely place and will definitely be coming back!

Under new Owner and recently refurbished . The breakfast are lush. Service is great, menu has a wide range for everyone including vegan options. Lovely atmosphere. Coffee amazing a definite visit if you are in the area.

Easily the best café in Bedford for a cooked breakfast. Very well cooked, delicious sausages and a nice place with friendly service. High prices £13-14 for a full English breakfast with coffee and fruit juice. I shall return.

Warm plate, delicious sausages, superb bacon, nice baked beans, very nice coffee. This was the best English breakfast I have had for a very long time, and easily the best to be found in Bedford! The prices are a little steep, but that wouldn't stop me returning for more. Highly recommended. Food hygiene rating is 5 out of 5.

I really like this place, although it's pricy. Interesting photos and artwork can be found upstairs. Afternoon tea is a pleasant way to while away an hour or so here, and the interior is quaint and dated, but in a good way. The full English breakfast is £8.40 if my memory serves me correctly, which without a coffee or other drink included, is very expensive for Bedford. I understand that the sausages are very good here, so I may try the breakfast at some point anyway. The food hygiene rating here is 5 out of 5.

Friendly welcome everytime we lunch here. Great spicy,chai latte for a cold day and I would recommend the feta/beetroot salad . A very good selection of food,always well presented and with a smile!

My cousin & l wanted breakfast before she set off back home . We asked for a variation of what was on the menus & the owner who was serving was more than happy to accommodate us. Though I have visited this coffee house a number of time I’ve never had breakfast there . So I was impressed when the food arrived piping hot to order . It was delicious & we weren’t hurried out & allowed just to take our time eating, drinking tea & chatting away . Lovely service & I would recommend a visit .

The food and service here is very nice. You can sit in or out depending upon the weather. The cake range is good and delicious.

We eat here quiet regularly.You can always guarantee excellent drinks,latte,chai lattes.The mozzarella,ham and olive warm wraps are delicious. Service can be a little slow when they are busy but they work very efficiently.

Inside and outside seating with a good atmosphere. The team there is excellent, friendly, professional and very helpful. Food is yummy and the cakes are very scrumptious!

Friendly welcome and prompt service. A small cosy cafe. With a selection of papers to read whilst you relax. A good selection of teas and the coffee has good flavour.

Was a favourite coffee stop in town. No longer serves white baguettes for some reason. Oh well, time to go elsewhere.

Really nice little cafe just on the edge of town but only a minute walk from main shops. Relaxing out door seating with a fantastic frescoe painting on the wall. Good choice of snacks and drinks, very friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone who likes to people watch on a lazy afternoon. Parking close by in multi storey car park or if you are lucky on street. Nice contemporary decor inside with plenty of seating if the weather is a bit cold or you need some peace and quiet, the road can sometimes get a bit noisy with traffic as it a bit of cut through for commuters. Bedford has many cafes to choose from and this one should be on everyone list to try, I like to sit outside and relax while enjoying a nice hot drink. I have met some very interesting people here who have been coming back for years so this tells you it is a quality establishment. Open most days of the week but can get busy in the morning and lunchtime, I believe they offer take away but I have not used this service.

Friendly staff, good food and drinks, a bit compact if you have mobility issues or a buggy, unless the weather is fine and you can sit outside. I will certainly be returning soon.

I visited 2 weeks ago, and I had complained that I found a strand of hair on my plate. The guy got so defensive and said no one has black hair, basically accusing that it was mine, my son said look at the hair against the light, its a red/brown colour, he had taken the plates away and not even one apology, and behold, when a staff member had come out from the kitchen area, her hair was red/brown colour. He even had the chance to redeem himself when my son went to pay the bill but did not even say sorry, he has no customer service skills and we will definitely not be coming back, I was so appalled by his behaviour.

Have twice before popped in for a take away coffee. It’s far superior to the usual places.

Lovely food, very good coffee and immaculate service in cosy comfortable surroundings. Infinitely preferable to one of the loud, noisy, bland corporate coffee places that seem to be on every corner.

The greeting and customer service at Frescoes is the among the best anywhere. The food is fresh and tasty. The new chocolate orange is a must for those who loved Jaffa Cakes as a kid and Chocolate Oranges now.

Had a panini to share with partner and they brought it down on 2 plates so could eat together. Yummy orange hot chocolate. Staff nice and friendly. Place really welcoming.

Wanted a bit of a change from the chains so went in here. Was charged near £4 for a decaf soy cappuccino. Way overpriced, won't be going again.

Hubby and I try and visit here every Sunday for lunch when he's not working. The food is always so fresh and tasty and staff really friendly.

Continue to go to Frescoes at the weekend for a full English breakfast and a flat white. The breakfast is the perfect size and the sausages are very tasty! The coffees here continue to be great quality - none of this chain rubbish!

So the poster outside invited customers to visit and support privately owned businesses. This is a cause close to my heart and often I would rather support a local and privately owned business instead of a branded high street chain which are flooding and turning our high streets into characterless streets each boasting the same shops and experiences.

Love going to frescoes, this place is my weekly treat, the staff are always friendly and polite could not fault them one piece.

I liked the look of the cafe and the staff were very friendly. I loved the Maple Syrup and Bacon pancakes they were delicious and the Milkshakes were also great.

We popped into Frescoes Coffee House for a quick lunch and were not disappointed, the service was fast and the food delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, we would definitely go in again.

Popped in for a coffee and a slice of cake. Really so much nicer than visiting a chain coffee shop. We sat outside and the black Americano was a lovely cup of coffee, and the lemon cake was yummy! The service was great, very welcoming and attentive.

A little gem in Bedford set in a pretty courtyard. Clean and tasteful decor but above all lovely food - choice of style of eggs eg poached or fried, locally sourced produce - all freshly cooked. Friendly, amiable service too.Please give this a try. It’s not the cheapest (breakfast £6.00) but you certainly get what you pay for! Go on, treat yourself! You won’t be disappointed!

I visited today with a friend for coffee and cake. The atmosphere is great, the service attentive but not oppressive. I would recommend the chocolate orange cake. We will definitely we coming back for more.

We had a lovely breakfast at Frescoes. My husband had the full English breakfast, I had Scrambled eggs on toast with Bacon. They serve loose leaf tea which was very nice.The service was good and so was the food. Well worth a visit.

We visited this morning with family, quickly seated and an order taken. I went for a latte and shared a tea cake and chocolate pastry with my wife. The coffee was quickly brought to us followed by the pastries. The waiting staff were very efficient and it was a very good coffee. Reasonably priced and an enjoyable morning snack.

We went last Sunday for breakfast it was. My b birthday And there were seven of​ us but it was not a problem thay could not have been more helpful the staff are really​ lovely the tables​ were pushed together for us we all ordered different food but it all came out out together and the food was yum. Lovely staff great food great service. Recommended

Coffee houses are almost on every corner these days, but not many can compete with Frescoes, good coffee and alternatives washing down luscious cake.
