i now live in welney moved from portsmouth a year ago but could not find a good italian restaurant so we travel to portsmouth once a month three to four hours each way but now ive have found one in peterborough its fratelli tavola calda rivergate centre post code pe1 1el phone no 01733313669 so no more travel to portsmouth thankfully we went there to try and was very happy it is the best italian outside of italy i am in top 2% on trip advisor so know what i say is true the staff are excellent as is the food top place to eat italian i usrd to be alan and sally from portsmouth now alan and sally from welney phone to book as very busy thanks

Excellent Italian cantina style restaurant, as well as shop. Excellent simple ingredients and food, very well done indeed. Every meal has been a pleasure with friendly service. Only suggestion: please do open for dinner too.

A little slice of Italy with authentic artefacts to look at. Loved the atmosphere and the Italian music, the gingham tablecloths, the raffia covered bottles hanging from the ceiling.

To be honest, after lockdown, I was so looking forward to bringing my family here & trying this place out, especially looking at all the good reviews.However, we found the service to be miserable, & the food to be very disappointing. I've had a lot more & way better quality for a lot less than the small fortune I was charged for the bland food we recieved. I definately would give this place a wide birth.

At last was able to return to this Gem of a Restaurant..Always made very welcome..with food that is well prepared and presented Most importantly...Delicious dishes ... great Service too ... a true taste of Italy ..Well done and wishing you all the best ..

Absolutely gorgeous breakfast! Called in here on the off chance as I was in Peterborough on business. Stumbled across this little gem! Delicious breakfast and coffee. Don’t come to Peterborough often but when I’m back, will definitely call again!

My Daughter and I ate here today and it was lovely. The waitress who served us was friendly and made us feel very welcome. We ordered a BLT and Mozzarella sandwich with chips and it was beautifully cooked and well presented. We usually have pizzas if we eat here later on and they are amazing. The restaurant is so authentic and very clean.

Visited on a busy Saturday morning have been here with my wife a few times for breakfast and have never been disappointed and on this occasion it was the same all nicely cooked and good quality food.

The only Restaurant where you can actually get and enjoy authentic Italian cooking .... For the best Pizzas the most delicious bowl of pasta no where comes close .... the special each day is as it states special... .. There is an amazing Deli too ..

Pretty good for brekkie time. Me and my friend ordered salmon with eggs and Italian bread. All were yummy and eaten really fast by us! Will come again but for pizza :)

Wow so pleased we came across this restaurant by chance, whilst visiting Peterborough. Wonderful home cooked food, and very reasonably priced. Husband was too full for desert but took one home for later. Really lovely staff. Whole experience was perfect. We enjoyed the antipasto so much that we brought some more from the delicatessen. Will definitely return.

Called in mid afternoon as it looked very attractive and I had read excellent reviews here on T.A., and ordered a sandwich from the deli counter. The lady assistant (not a young girl) served the person in front of me by picking up a ready to eat aranchini from the counter tray with her bare hands and popped it into a bag which was not a good start. She then proceeded to make my sandwich cutting the bread using bare hands and started to put some salad mix in, again with bare hands so I stopped her and asked where her disposable gloves were. She said they had run out that morning, so I suggested she use either tongs or spoons as it was not hygenic to use bare hands when handling food. She did then carry on to use a spoon/fork. Bearing in mind the current situation for rapid spread of various virus/infections it is even more important to be aware of good practice when handling food items, and it should not have been up to me to point out what she should be doing, and the potential risks to the public of using bare hands and handling food after serving in the restaurant/deli etc. - I received no apology either, or offer to start the food preparation again, and I saw no evidence either of staff in the kitchen area behind the counter using gloves too, and obviously if they had run out of gloves that morning, then they could not have done so anyway - it is so worrying when this sort of thing goes on and staff see no wrong in carrying on in this way. Will not be visiting again.

Best Pizza in Town! Talk about fast food, every thing arrives quickly and all very fresh! Also hottest coffee I've ever had ... must have a volcano back there! ;-)

After a football trial in the morning you need a good lunch. This place in the center of Peterborough had excellent reviews so we made the effort to find it.So glad we did. We had to wait a little time for a table, always a good sign but it gave us a chance to see what was for sale in the delicatessen housed in the same building. The food was wonderful, the pizzas and pastas sumptuous and tasty. Great staff and a super friendly owner. We will definitely be back again..

We chose the antipasti platter for two and added some warm salted focaccia bread. What a plateful arrived! There were four types of cheese and five of sliced meats with a ramekin dish of olives, onions and mushrooms. The focaccia completely filled a large dinner plate.We weren't surprised when we couldn't quite manage to clear the plates! The price was surprisingly good too.A lovely eating experience and friendly service as well. We'll definitely be back to try something different

I had to go to the passport office, so was looking for a quick lunch . Don't really like food at chain restaurant's, so this was a recommendation from a friend who works in Peterborough.

The likelihood of you stumbling across this at night is zero and during the day is marginal... why, because it’s hidden in the Rivergate Shopping Centre which shuts at night.

I stopped in with my parents as a birthday treat for myself and very much enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly staff and quality food. Recommended to all!

Tucked away in a shopping centre here is a wonderful restaurant with an authentic feel of Italy. Highly recommended.

Found the restaurant after walking all around the city,lovely genuine Sicilian food,I had spaghetti Bologna’s ,ann had the cannelloni.food tasted lovely great flavours.freindly staff,so many different choices on the menu.was very busy at lunchtime shows how popular the restaurant is.

Popped in here for lunch with my elderly mother. Immediately someone offered to take her walker out of the way and provide a cushion for her chair.

Came across the place by accident, seemed busy as was offering a full breakfast at £4.50 which looked great. A little confusing on first entry due to the shop/cafe mix. But the takeaway and deli counter look amazing. I had a bacon sandwich, offered on normal or Italian sliced (great touch) and we both tried a slice of cake after. Which were both great. Looked at the regular menu whilst there, the main courses are about £10 but sound like they would be worth it, although did not see anyone who had ordered them to say about size. The takeaway menu also looked great for the price, so I'll be going through that list bit by bit!. If anything, the only criticism I have about the place, it's the toilets. Whilst clean, it's very old fashioned and a million miles away up sets of stairs, so unsure if there is a wheelchair friendly way of popping to the loo.

This is a lovely Italian restaurant that serves the most delightful authentic Italian food. We attended at a very busy time when the restaurant was bursting at the seams with customers, but the helpful and welcoming staff managed to accommodated us as soon as they could. We liked everything about the restaurant in terms of food, drink and atmosphere. Everything was reasonably priced. The location is great with numerous car parks and other services nearby.

Our usual port of call when going to Sheffield, both myself and my wife always have a breakfast and tea, we have never been disappointed as they use good produce, and this Saturday was no different.

Red, white and green. The decor is a bit garrish, but charmingly so, and the people running it are a bunch of absolute sweethearts. I've had their pasta before (and i couldn't fault it: excellent food), but this was the first time having their continental breakfast - again, good auality food for a price that's difficult to argue with.

We decided to try this restaurant on the spur of the moment before going to see Tom Jones, what we didn’t realise was most of Peterborough had the same idea and it was full. Staff were quick to ask us if we wanted to wait for a table, they said it shouldn’t be too long and it wasn’t. The service was faultless, nice atmosphere and when the main arrived it was delicious.

Found this restaurant by accident, and very glad we did. Pizzas were lovely and felt we were sitting in a restaurant in Italy. Which is amazing when actually you are in a shopping arcade in Peterborough. Will be back.😊

We visited as a family of four (two adults and two children - a 14 month old and a 35 month old) in search of some food after travelling from London.

Popped in here as visiting Peterborough for the weekend and was early and on passing saw them advertising breakfast so decided to give it a go, waitress came over quickly and took our order, hot drinks arrived swiftly which were nice and then breakfast came ,very nice, very hot and lovely freshly cooked, we both really enjoyed it and will certainly return again when next in Peterborough

Recently visited Fratelli’s with my sister for lunch having not been for many years.

My third visit to this restaurant and again it didn't disappoint. We had a table for six people and all had an excellent meal. Two of us tried the special which was ravioli of crab and crayfish in a creamy sauce and it was delicious. Very reasonable at £10.50. Others had steak, prawn salad and lemon sole. All the food is cooked to order and there was a wide selection of desserts including a pistachio mousse and a ferrero rocher torte. All delicious! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially as were in a rush.

Was visiting Peterborough for the day with friends and we chose this place for lunch. What a great find! The food was very tasty and reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the whole place was a delight for the eyes, there being a small deli as well as the restaurant.

Took my granddaughter for a treat. Sat outside. Lovely, friendly service. Good menu . Food was delicious! The Pizza was too big for the granddaughter to eat and they supplied a box for her to take it home.

A cracking little restaurant, no hint of pretence. This is the real thing and priced with unbelievable value. Yummy specials ably prepared by the Sicilian proprietor. A wonderful range of dishes presented in the menu. I saw very impressive pizzas being taken to neighbouring tables - made me quite envious. Staff were very warm and helpful. Thank you.

I really don’t understand the bad reviews that I saw on TP about this restaurant. The place is warm, welcoming and cosy. The staff was impeccable, put me at tease from the first moment. The pizza was absolutely delicious (TRUST ME, I’M ITALIAN). Average prices. Keep going with the good job.

Great little find whilst out shopping with our Aunt in Peterborough. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was very good. We will be calling again next time we're in town.

We haven't been to Fratelli's for some time however, we won't leave it so long next time. We travel to Italy at least once a year and it feels like a local trattoria. It has a real authentic feel and the food backs this up. My wife had the spaghetti vongole which was cracking and my son and I had the polpette which was equally as good. The service was great throughout the meal.

Water had bits floating in it. Wjen i showed it to waitress no apology. Just fetched me another fresh glass. No salt and peper on table..so i reached to another table. Then had to ask for parmesan for my meal. THEN a total of 3 king prawns on a bed of pasta. Wont be visiting again..

I really needed something not too heavy to eat and the waitress was most helpful in choosing a classic pizza. I was expecting not to eat it all but, nothing left to take home. Washed down with a Pironi beer, what more could one want.

Had Pizza here with my daughter and took advantage of half price pizzas after 3pm. Have eaten here many times and it is very typically Italian with Italian people running it. Food is always good. There is also an impressive deli where you can buy all manner of nice things. Highly recommended.

I was on one of my walks it was going to take me along the river nene into the city centre so I decided to have something to eat so i pasted a asdas but didn't fancy anything from there restaurant. I remembered a Italian restaurant I had used long ago.I headed there lucky I had great table service and great food full English breakfast and latte £6.50 can't beat that

Lovely family lunch for 3 generations of the family - risottI, pasta dishes and pizza were variously chosen. Everything was delicious and we ended with 6 clean plates! I was amazed by how much the toddlers ate. Desserts included gelati and cheesecakes and again the plates were cleaned - always a good sign in our family ! We wandered around the restaurant which also sells Mediterranean produce and some novelty items such as olive oil dispensers for the table.

I frequent Fratellis a lot, it must go down as one of the best places in Peterborough for authentic Italian food. They have a wide variety of specials but the true star of the menu is the lasagne .

Second visit here and again the food was absolutely perfect. The Fratelli Special Pizza was amazing. They now exactly how to cook perfect food.

I'm sure many locals know about this gem but what a great place for a breakfast / coffee or lunch. I didn't like the first pastry I'd ordered but they exchanged it no fuss. We don't normally go this far south in town but highly recommended.

Ett trevligt italienskt ställe i Rivergate shopping centre. Vi åt goda canellonis där med mycket god lemonad till. De har lite allt möjligt t ex pizza för ett bra pris. Rimliga priser över lag. De har även pizza lite senare på eftermiddagen till ett nedssatt pris. Öppet dagtid och stänger kl. 18.00.

Had the English breakfast here a few times now and have to say they are one of the best to be had in town, or anywhere for that matter. Tasty and freshly cooked, short wait. Good service, nice atmosphere and a great price at £11 for 2 including coffee, what more do you want?

An otherwise good meal was spoilt by a couple of things. We made the mistake of asking for a bottle of Rose, expecting a good Italian wine consistent with the house Red or White. We were presented with an already opened bottle of Californian Echo Falls Rose wine, with strawberries and raspberies we discovered after tasing it (if I recall correctly). Not to my taste and too late to send back. Secondly, my Gamberoni was overwhelmed by an over-strong tomato sauce and the salad overwhelmed by balsamic vinegar. The antepasta was fine and my wife's dessert generous. The meal was good value for money with generous portions but the chef could be a little less heavy-handed. Considering the large well established Italian community in Peterborough, and the owner is Sicilian, it could and should be better. My brother-in-law is Sicilian, so it was a bit of a disappointing meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. The chef needs sorting out since everything else was fine..

We have used this small Italian restaurant many times and have yet to be disappointed. There is a great feeling of the authentic food across a wide range with great staff and worth the experience. The food is not cheap but you can pay a little less than you think as they will go off menu eg prepare sandwiches from their excellent deli so don't be afraid to ask. Very nice wine our favorite place to eat in the city when we shop.

Visited for late lunch at about 3.30pm. Had antipasti platter for two, plenty there. Then took advantage of the half price pizza offer from 3pm til 5pm. My pizza fungi could have done with more mushrooms though. Special was penne vongole which lacked sauce.

My Sister and I just happened upon this lovely restaurant while having a wander around Rivergate Shopping Centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We both had Lasagne which was delicious, possibly the best one we've ever had ! Will definitely go there again when we next go to Peterborough.

Visiting Fratelli for a third time now. It's hard to get better Italian food in Peterborough in my opinion. Very tasty food, authentic atmosphere, good prices. Staff are friendly and service quite fast. One of the best lunches you can get and selection will not disappoint you!

My daughter and I visited Fratelli Tavola Calda on a lovely summer's day in July. We sat outside in really comfortable surroundings. The staff were all so welcoming from the time we arrived until we left some two and a half hours later. We only stayed that long because we were enjoying sitting chatting as well as eating lovely, lovely food! Nobody was in any hurry for us to leave and had we needed the food quickly, it would have been served faster; we wanted a leisurely meal, The menu is extensive but NOT full of commercially prepared dishes. They are all prepared in the kitchen by the owner and his staff. The price is reasonable for such good quality dishes.The restaurant also has a shop attached which has a lovely deli counter and so many varieties of pasta all at VERY competitive prices. There was lots of things that tempted us!All in all it was a really positive experience which we both thoroughly enjoyed. I can recommend it unreservedly. If you are in Peterborough you must try it.

I have been using this establishment for breakfast over the last couple of months 2 -3 times per week and i had really enjoyed my breakfasts, even when i had a bit of a winge about not having a runny fried egg, there was no problem it was sorted. HOWEVER on Monday of this week i went for "My usual" and it was dreaded. The toast was burnt, the bacon was burnt and the fried egg was crispy and burnt underside with a hard yolk. Now i always eat everything but on Monday i didn't. The waitress took my plate. I went to pay and mentioned that the breakfast was well done and not up to usual standard, she said, "are you brave enough to complain?" As it was the owner lady cooking. At that point she appeared "what's the problem?" She said. I explained, she said sharply "well i was cooking 4 breakfasts at once! Will try harder next time" No apology, no recompense. Just made me feel awkward. Sadly i shall never return here ever again. Mind it's only £10-£15 per week, peanuts i suppose.

This little restaurant was a lovely venue for a Saturday lunch time. 17 of us visited and we provided a pre-order for our lunch. Everybody enjoyed their food. I had pasta with salmon, several enjoyed the pizzas which looked delicious. The staff were very friendly and the drinks were very reasonably priced. We shall definitely be back again.

The salad in this place could not be fresher if I was a snail in a lettuce patch! Yum Yum!Seriously the best salad I have ever had in my entire life.

My family has been coming to this restaurant for years.It's a genuine family run Italian restaurant. The decor is basic but suits the environment. It doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. The place has a good atmosphere. The service isn't always great but the food makes up for it and we keep returning. I don't know why people choose to eat in the bigger more expensive "Italian" chain restaurants when they can come here for the real thing. The food is always good and very reasonably priced.

The food here is good Italian fare, no question. Have visited many times & love the food. However, sadly the last couple of times I have had lunch with friends here, weve had plates removed when not quite finished eating & same with a coffee cups! Because the food is good, the place is very busy, but collecting crockery to rush people out of the door doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience.....!

I often call here for a breakfast since discovering this place. The sausages are to die for. I have still to try the afternoon/evening menu but I am sure it will be as delicious!

I eat at Fratelli's nearly every day. The food ranges from an excellent breakfast to superb Italian pasta's and specials, the pizza is also well worth a visit. The staff are freindly and very helpful and the family run resturant has a very relaxed fell that is alway welcoming. When the food and service is this good I never get tired of my almost daily visit. There is also a full deli service offering all of the Italian staples with great bread, meats and cheeses.

Having tried the breakfast here we decided to have lunch. Many times have we walked past and seen people eating what looks like really nice food. We were greeted with a warm friendly waitress. We were surprised at the amount of food on offer. Our order was taken promptly. The restaurant was busy but not overly noisy which meant you could have a conversation without having to shout to be heard. We didn't have to wait too long for our food, the pizzas were enormous and had plenty of toppings. My seafood risotto looked very appetising and the aroma was just as appealing. The food really was very tasty. We had 3 empty plates, we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and will definitely be back again. We didn't have dessert but the dessert menu was also very enticing, normally I have difficulty choosing between 2 desserts but I could have eaten all 5 on this menu. The is also the added bonus of the deli and shop for you to pick up bits to try and recreate your meal at home. Loved the sign above the bar " we do not have wifi, talk to each other".

We've been here several times before and have always been more than happy with the food. In our case I think we were a little naive about what we ought to expect in the past but now we have a confidence about us and can order food with an accurate anticipation.The names of our dishes still elude me but her ladyship had lobster in pasta parcels with a rich creamy sauce over it and I had chicken strips with a creamy tomato sauce. As a side-dish we went for garlic bread covered in cheese, which was spectacular. When I think that we also had two cups of tea and a coke, followed by two cups of wonderful coffee, and the whole bill came to £29.45, it was amazing!There is a shop adjacent to the restaurant that sells genuine Italian produce if you want to have a go at doing it yourself. The staff are friendly and efficient, also attentive.This place recommends itself really but having been to Rome, Florence and Genoa recently the food in those places was no better than this restaurant in Peterborough. Give it a try and if you are disappointed you can spank my bottom and call me Desmond, as Blackadder once said!!
