We were at fratelli's during our getaway to the Galgorm for birthday celebrations. We had a warm welcome and quickly shown to our seats. The food arrived promptly and staff were checking in to make sure the good was okay. We do however feel the food has got very expensive for what it is. We paid £94 for 2 starters, 2 pizzas and 2 mocktails. If it weren't a celebratory dinner we wouldn't justify the cost. Thank you however for a lovely evening!

Shockingly poor service, dead fly on main dish, an all round horrible experience this place has gone downhill massively. I’ve ate at fratelli many times over the years both at Galgorm and Belfast city centre and always had a good experience with tasty food. However on this occasion, which was dinner for my 30th birthday; it was a complete disappointment. We stood for over 5 minutes at the entrance waiting to be acknowledged by any staff member, countless waiters and waitresses walked back and forth, we had to walk over and ask someone could we check in for our booking. It was another 10 minutes after being seated before anyone returned to take a drink order. Our food then arrived before the drinks which we waited a total of 20 minutes for the 2 drinks. We were given the wrong pizza so we sent this back and in the meantime we then noticed a dead fly stuck to the plate of our pasta. They brought the pizza back with the missing toppings added on, and a new pasta without a dead fly this time.. but unfortunately the pizza had a strong taste of liquorice and the pasta was hard and undercooked the food was basically inedible The whole experience was just a complete let down we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. The manager was apologetic and kindly removed the food from the bill, which was just as well because I wouldn't have been happy to pay almost £50 for the 2 dishes that we were given.

First time trying and was underwhelmed. Staff friendly and mains were nice enough quite pricey for what it was. Both starter of bread and dessert of orange cake were extremely stale. Expected better. Felt fine after meal but proceeded to be sick later that evening. Overall a slightly disappointing experience.

I'm posting this review 2 months after having visited Fratelli Galgorm with my family on 9th December 2023. The reason I've waited to leave the public review until now was to allow the galgorm group the opportunity to revert back to me but unfortunately they haven't, despite multiple emails from myself explaining my complaint and asking for an update/resolution. We had booked for the Santa experience with the galgorm and booked a reservation to done in Fratelli as this was the only location left with available bookings. My sister and I had recently both had our first babies and wanted to have a memorable family day out to kick off the Christmas celebrations for the first time with children. Given that both our children were less than 6 months old, we didn't mind paying extra for a luxury experience, given that the children wouldn't be of age to know about Santa, it was more for the benefit of a family day out and making memories. Safe to say I wish I'd have taken the kids to a local shopping centre to see Santa as I would bet it would have been an better experience overall and for a fraction of the price. When making the booking I advised that we would need space in the restaurant for 2 prams. To sum up, they did not take this into consideration and placed us in front of the kitchen ( which was constantly busy with waiters ifting hot plates etc over our heads). They asked my sister push her pram into the corner up against a boiling hot raidator. Also this was in a corner where high chair were kept, and waiters were in and out lifting high chairs over my niece's head. They asked me to push my pram up against a fire exit door, at which point I politely refused given it was far enough from where our table was and my child was 3 months old. I was then told to squeeze my pram between the table and a cutlery desk. My child was sleeping in the pram, whilst waiters stacked glasses 2-3 levels high above where he slept. Complete health and safety risk. I'd like to say this was the worst of my complaint, but was just the beginning. The service in terms of the waiting staff was appalling. Table not cleared after our mains and when I asked for it to be cleared the waitress looked offended that I'd asked the question and lifted 2 plates before disappearing altogether. The packages was a 4 course meal to include tea and coffee, but we had to again to request this. No spoons were provided with the cups and saucers, so if we wanted sugar or milk we ended up stirring this with the rear end of a knife left on the table. At the end, no one came to check was all ok or offr the bill. I asked at the front desk and paid what was outstanding just so we could leave. The food was below average. Starters were cold, the main was undercooked, dry and no condiments normally accompanying a Christmas dinner were provided i.e. gravy or cranberry sauce. I was beyond stressed and angry to even eat dessert. Overall it tasted as though the food had been reheated and thrown at us. The worst and most shocking part was when my sister and I went to use the baby changing facilities. We queued for a while for the toilets, realising the baby changing was in the disabled toilet which isn't unusual, however, seems to be who didn't seem to know why the door was locked. After another few minutes, the manager approached us to advise this was out of order and asked could we use the normal toilets or alternatively walk across to gillies. That day we had torrential rain and he expected us to take them out into the cold across the courtyard to have their nappy changed. Really? Considering this was a family event, they should have expected parents would need access to changing facilities. Overall, it was a shocking experience and I could say much more if it wasn't for the cap on the word limit. Supposedly a 5 star resort that I would give 0 stars to if I could. To add insult to injury, despite phone calls and multiple emails to follow up, no one from the galgorm have come back to me to resolve this. Absolute disgrace, do not give this establishment your money.

We usually visit Fratelli once a year but have been coming for many years and always enjoy it. The staff are very welcoming and the service is good, but it's the food that suits us very well. The selection of chicetti is what excites us most and an order of these little Italian tapas represents a good start to a lovely meal. My roast cod was delicious and my wife's chicken caesar salad was very generous. No Italian themed meal would be complete without some tiramisu, and we left fully satisfied.

Stayed in Galgorm for 1 night, last time had food in the restaurant in the hotel and it was lovely. Husband wanted to try the Italian this time, when we arrived at this restaurant we were early and we had to wait ages for our table, starter was very average pasta & Pizza was very bland could make it better at home. Dessert was a disgrace, I just wanted ice-creme and was expecting a nice big glass bowl with strawberries or a waver what I got was a kids tub of ice creme with a lid that was completely frozen. I said to the lady I wanted to send it back and her response was just keep it as it’s in your package. Also the service was very slow and had to call people to get their attention for drinks etc no one came to check that everything was ok. For the price of the package which was over £500 for 1 night with 3 course meal I was very very disappointed and not what I expect from a 4 star hotel.

We stayed in the hotel for two nights and ate in Fratellis on our second night. We were seated behind a plant with a view into the kitchen and the back room which wasn’t the most pleasant. We had to wait on someone to come down to us for a drinks order and asked for water along with them, we had to follow up on asking for water a further 3 times. The cocktails we got didn’t seem to have much alcohol or flavour - an expensive soft drink really. Eventually our water came and we ordered our food - a strange appetiser of tuna mayo and breadsticks came. Service was extremely slow and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. There were plenty of staff but they seemed to be running around aimlessly leaving one server trying to do everything. We could see them play fighting in the back room at one occasion as we waited on attention. Food was underwhelming and would not recommend unless it’s the only option left.

I visit the Belfast City Fratelli often & so felt confident it would be a similar experience, unfortunately it fell short. My husband could not finish his Guinness it was not good, nor did I finish my wine. We reserved & as we entered a little old couple asked for a table - they were told the restaurant was “fully booked”, on a Monday evening this was not true as there more than half a dozen empty tables. We left at 9.30 & the tables were not occupied. Felt so bad for those elderly patrons. We enjoyed our meal & I was grateful for gluten free options, the Italian waiter was friendly but the atmosphere was a little tense, guessing short staffed that night. Will try the other restaurant next time, sorry

Very underwhelming experience. We were staying at Galgorm for a special occasion (shepards hut) which is fab! Having read reviews about the restaurants on site it was a hard choice as they both sounded lovely but being Italian cuisine lovers we opted for Fratelli. I booked a table well in advance of our arrival but upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with a grunt and told to wait at the side until they ‘found’ our booking. We waited for a few moments and then were shown to our table which was situated in a corner in the dark beside all the bins which are on show (not a good look for a 5 star resort) and also where they collect all the glasses at the bar which is super noisy. The service was so slow and very hard to get anyone’s attention. It was like because we were shoved in a corner they had forgotten about us. The waiter kept forgetting our orders also so he kept coming back to ask us what we had ordered again. The food was nice but the portions are very small and for the price it’s definitively not worth it. What annoyed me the most was that even in my request to book a table I mentioned it was a special occasion and not even a little desert or a complimentary drink as a gesture was done. I could over look the price of the food for the potion sizes if the service and attention to my booking had of been looked after but unfortunately I would not recommend going here. I don’t think this restaurant is up to 5 star standards in such a luxurious resort. Disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend.

The restaurant itself was very nice but the food was just confusing. We ordered focaccia but what came out looked like stale leftover bread from breakfast with some poor quality olive oil. My wife ordered carbonara which was okay, we were not expecting it to be authentic. I ordered lamb which came with risotto, i wont even say what it smelt like but it must have been off or something. The smell put me off eating it. I felt bad for the waitress so when she came to clear our plates i just said it was too much food. Definitely won't be back.

I have been going to Fratellis for years. We live locally and have brought clients in the doors many times. We called in for a couple of pizzas tonight and it was terrible. And the prices have gone up so now a pizza is 20 quid for something that honestly is no better than a tesco frozen pizza. Tasteless, bland, pale, no mean feat for a spicy pizza, and cheap oul mozzarella that was like rubber. 2.50 for a tiny portion of mayo. I’m so disappointed after ten years of loyal patronage. If it was hand stretched dough with high end mozzarella then MAYBE I’d pay 20 quid but this was really really poor quality. Orto in Belfast charge 14 quid and it is a hundred times better. I’d be too embarrassed to bring clients here now. Really awful. I can’t see us going back.

Soooooo, it was my birthday and we were at Galgorm for a 3 night break. Having originally booked Gillies, we decided to switch to Fratellis as it felt like it would be more of a treat. Our reservation was for 8.30pm and we arrived promptly, however, whilst the place didn't look overly busy, there was a very manic man running about the place between the Pass and throughout the restaurant. He rushed over he'd be with us shortly, as we arrived (there was a group of 3 ahead of us). He went away, came back a few mins later, apologised for the wait again and off again, third time he came back he took the 3 people ahead of us to their table. Then a girl came over, took our details and said she'd check our table was ready and off she went. Your man came back again, and asked us our details, I said we've already given them to the girl, he said, "I think she's gone eh eh, please take a seat for a moment" (seemed like I annoyed him) and off he went. The girl came back as he went and she took us to our table (so all this happened over about a 3-4 min period, so it was totally manic, no need whatsoever). We were brought around the back of the restaurant and seated at a large table for 5, despite there being 3 empty tables for 2 people at the front - very odd! Anyway as she gave us the menus she said there was only bottled beer this evening, no draught, which was fine as we were having wine, however, 5 minutes later she passed our table with a tray of 3 pints of guinness. Food was grand, except for my pizza that was considerably underdone both on the base and the topping - I left over half of it. So it wasn't a great birthday dinner. I found the whole experience really annoying as there was no need for the manic running around or any of the other issues. I'm sure lots of people have a great experience there but for us it was a huge disappointment. I sort of got the feeling that as we were dining as part of a meal package with Galgorm, they treated us a bit differently.... I could be wrong but that's how I felt. We dined the first night at Castle Kitchen and it was excellent.

£21 quid for a pizza that was comparable to a frozen Goodfellas...asked for little to no jalapenos on the pizza as I am not a massive fan thinking they would maybe put more of one of the other toppings on it instead. Got a sarky waiter who wrote on the slip to put 4 jalapenos on my pizza...low and behold the pizza arrived with 4 jalapenos, 6 bits of small pepperoni and a handful of peppers...was about 10 inches...for 21 quid...absolute rip off! Went to belfast city centre a few days before and had one of the nicest pizzas in my life out of Orto for 14 quid. Maybe Fratelli's should research those guys and learn how to make proper fresh italian food.

This place seems to have been set up as a good concept but completely underdelivers. Its a real shame as it looks good and some staff were good. The food seems more for insta than for eating as everything seems to be carefully created then reheated but sadly when we were there they couldn't do a decent job of that. Foccaci that looks toasted with melted cheese came out half cold. Other starters seem microwaved and again only part heated. Main salmon was very salty. Pear salad was bizarre. The cheese was way too bland to be gorganzola , the pears soppy tinned excuse for pears, lots of romaine lettuce, poor walnuts, no flavour. We had a bottle of champagne to start and the waitress got a corkscrew out to open it. I understand not everyone drinks champagne but its down to management to implement good standards and they are seriously lacking here. As I said, it's a real shame it let's itself down so badly, management need to step in and get a grip before all the negative experiences go against them. Edit. We've now eaten twice at Castle kitchen and that's how it should be. Hopefully we just got a bad night at Fratelli's.

Left standing around awkwardly at the front desk for a while. Sat down and ordered without issue. Ordered the Chicken and Orzo; the chicken itself was lovely but the orzo was swimming in a pesto sauce that was just too much, the pasta was over-cooked and mushy. Girlfriend had a pizza, could have been out of the freezer; dough was awful, sauce was bland, toppings were scarce. Ordered the croquettes as well; just tasted like pure potato - couldn’t tell there was ham and cheese supposed to be in them. Two dishes that I could make better in the house myself; so to pay what we did for them defeats the purpose of going out for me - I want to be impressed by eating out, not stuck having to write a review like this. Staying in one of the cottages in the Galgorm, and had considered going out for an Indian takeaway earlier in the night - wish I had now. Likely won’t be back, and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

One of the worst dining experiences in NI. Ridiculously overpriced for very very disappointing food. Ordered the focaccia sharing platter, I assumed there had been a mistake because the bread that was served was some kind of stale, crumbly sandwich loaf. I asked the waitress why we hadn’t got focaccia and she came back with another 2 slices of the bread masquerading as focaccia. An ‘Italian’ restaurant that doesn’t know what focaccia is? This was foreshadowing for the rest of the evening. Beef ragu that was just some left over steak thrown on a bland tomato sauce and a bowl of watery carbonara. I will say that the garlic chips were good. Don’t get me started on the price of tea and coffees! The restaurant was only half full so maybe people have finally realised that the Galgorm isn’t worth the hype.

The restaurant was extremely cold to the extent that I had to put back on my wool coat. The heating really needs to be sorted out, especially for winter. The food was pretty good but expensive for what you got. My husband had sirloin steak which was served with overcooked chips and a mushroom sauce. There were no vegetables served with this dish, which cost more than £30. Wine was also expensive. If we dine here again, I think I would stick with a pizza and glass of wine as I would prefer to spend my money in the cocktail bar which is warm and cosy and a lovely ambiance. To be honest, Fratellis let’s down The Galgorm resort and I would not rush back.

We ate at Fratelli as part of the deal while staying at Galgorm for our wedding anniversary. As usual the chicetti were the outright winners of the meal. We love the idea of these small super tasty Italian tapas and they make a great way to start a meal. In fact we toyed with the idea of ordering a second round of chicetti and forgoing our main courses, but we opted for pulled pork cannelloni and baked cod. The only negative comment I would have is that the portions were huge and we were left stuffed in trying to finish. Now that the challenge of covid has faded we came back to Galgorm for our celebration after having to stay away for 3 years.

We booked Fratelli as part of our Santa experience at the Galgorm and this is our fifth year doing this in a row (apart from during covid). We were really disappointed this year. The menus have gone digital - I don’t mind that but there’s half a dozen restaurants and half a dozen menus in each! Through the Galgorm app, I ended up with the Fratelli Belfast menu and was then told I can’t order from that. Someone should have really explained this as we sat down. I think the menu is extremely limited - I think there are 3 starters to choose from, 5 (maybe 6) main courses and 3 deserts. There’s only one pizza to choose from which I think is too limited. The food was actually very nice. However, the kids menu states that desert is either a small pudding or ice cream. When we asked about the small puddings, we were told that is a mistake on the menu and ice cream is the only option. My 2 kids didn’t want ice cream so we asked about other options and were told there’s nothing. Very disappointing, especially as this was on the menu. Finally, as the bill arrived, I noticed a weird £1.95 charge for aioli, which we didn’t have. I queried this charge with the waitress and she went away and came back and explained that as my daughter swapped her garlic butter for ketchup as part of her dough ball starter, there was a £1.95 charge!!! This is really poor - not only because ketchup shouldn’t be charged, no one mentioned the charge and it was a tiny pot! Unfortunately, all of this dampened our experience. Luckily, the rest of our time at the Galgorm was brilliant but we will be thinking again before returning to Fratelli

Food is always absolutely beautiful. Its our favourite restaurant in the Galgorm. The service here is great, waiters make you feel so welcome and are always so pleasant. We had the Pulled Pork Cannelloni for the first time tonight and it was so tasty. We have been coming to Fratellis for a few years now and it has never disappointed. Can't wait for our next booking.

Awful. One star because my girlfriends food was ok. Sat down, 15 minutes later we ordered. I had bruschetta with N’duja sausage. It was about two inches thick of dry stale tasting bread with some kind of sausage mush that tasted dry and like it was from a jar, topped with way too much cheese. An insult to Bruschetta. How you can mess up a simple bruschetta is beyond me, but that trend unfortunately continued. After the starter I asked for a cocktail and the waitress told me she’d come back after taking the plates, never came back. The Carbonara was actually just a complete disgrace. It was linguine served in what can only be described as a bowl of milk. After draining it into my napkin I realised this was as close to a carbonara as a banana sandwich. There were two lumps of chicken which, and I do not know how they did this, was ok underneath but bone dry on top like it was sat under a heat lamp for a long time. There was some sort of red breadcrumb stuff or maybe burned seasoning all over it. A carbonara is probably one of the most simple basic Italian dishes and somehow they seemed to try to overcomplicate it. The cream was just poured in and not reduced or cooked off, or even thickened. My partner’s Garlic bread and pizza was ok, nothing special, but at least it was a pizza and not some artisan bread loaf pretending to be pizza. Then the absolute worst dessert I have ever seen in my life. “Coconut rice”, sounded decent, 5 star hotel, must be good right? WRONG! What I received as pictured, was a tiny bowl of cold, plain, bland, refrigerated congealed rice with some desiccated coconut flakes on top. I was able to leave my spoon standing up in it because it was so hard. My partner had ice cream, which was just a regular a tub of ice cream. Chef needs to re-jig this menu, because it’s not good at all, and it’s borderline false advertising. That was not a proper bruschetta, and was not a proper linguine. The only reason I bothered paying and not complaining on the night was that service was so bad and I was so annoyed I just didn’t want to wait around for someone to eventually come over. Galgorm would want to seriously reconsider this place, especially when service and food in Gillie’s is so much better. I’ve had finer dining in Subway. Avoid!

Service was friendly and professional, but servers were incredibly busy and insufficient for parties seated, so whilst service was good, it was sparse. Food was actually quite bland, and not worth the hype. Drinks took a long time to come. We had to repeatedly ask on the whereabouts for two coffees, only to be told that the bar was very busy. Service charge of 10% automatically applied to parties of 6 or more

A bit disappointed. The service was fine and attentive. The cicchettis were tasty, but you'd need 4 to make up for not having a main course, and the deep fried mozzarella was not a good idea. Main complaint - the lasagne, which was more like a shepherd's pie. Tasted ok, but where was the parmesan, bechamel sauce, and tomato? - basically just mince, pasta and cheddar.

We have been to this restaurant many times and we have had nothing but positive experiences . It has been our favourite Galgorm restaurant. Very disappointed with our recent visit On saturday service was incredibly slow. We ordered the house red wine and the waitress (I think it must have been a manager as she had different uniform) asked us what type we would like, I asked what was the price difference and she said all the house wines were around £24/£27 , she couldn’t give us an exact price. The wine we ordered was actually £28 on the bill! Annoying. Our focaccia starter was nice. I ordered carbonara as a main , was incredibly disappointed with the menu, on two pasta dishes!?! Very boring Italian menu. The menu seems to be a lot smaller than before covid With the carbonara, I was unable to eat it. It had the strangest taste. Maybe too much garlic as I had to pick out huge bits of garlic during each mouthful. The pizza my husband got was very oily and undercooked on the base. I wanted to give feedback but none of the staff asked us how our meal was, they didn’t ask if there was an issue when I handed back my full plate of pasta. When paying no one asked if everything was ok. We won’t be back unless their standards go back to the way they were before covid

(One star is way too much) The name means brothers but I am glad they are not mine. I have just eaten here and cannot recommend the experience. When we eventually found the table we had booked we waited 40 minutes plus for someone to suggest food. Focaccia is one of the best known italian breads but what came to the table was unlike any I had eaten before and I have eaten a few. Good olive oil costs money. The pear and walnut salad featured what appeared to be tinned pears. The bill was incorrect, inter alia, food returned was charged for. A suggestion that poor food and service was met with an aggressive response and eventually a derogatory 15 percent discount. I don’t believe this place is value for money or would be recommended at half the price.

On arrival, we were informed that we had a 2hr window in which to eat because they were fully booked, which initially seemed reasonable. While being seated the waitress immediately asked, "Still or sparkling water?" Not "can I get you anything to drink or here is a drinks menu" We asked for still water believing this to be free as by the manner of asking. Then out comes the bottle being opened and we realised this was our 1st charge at almost £5.00. The kids get to build their own pizza in which they get to dress up in chefs hat and apron. All good fun but expensive at £10.95 each, which included garlic bread, icecream a baby hot chocolate. Then the next well worded order taking to gain maximum revenue...The pasta menu shows each meal as starter or main with price beside. What we foolishly didn't notice under the dim lighting and tiny print was the chicken or prawn add on at the bottom of the menu at £5.75 each on top of the already epensive £14.25 Carbonara. It was again the manner in how the order was taken, not "Would you like to add chicken or prawns" which would make it clear it was extra. No, it was " Is that with chicken or prawns?" in a manner which made all 3 of our group order this dish believe it was included. Another nearly £18.00 to Fratelli. Waited an hour of our 2hr slot on the food to arrive and one of our group's meal didn't arrive. Waitress apologised and said they "had forgotten her meal". l had finished my meal when her's eventually arrived. As staff now were obviously watching the time on our table, the kids icecream order was taken while they were still munching on their pizza. Then it arrived with the chocolate drink only a minute or two behind. With the unexpected chicken and water added, the already expensive bill seemed worse. Add this to the forgotten and rushed lasagne and it was extremely disappointingYes, I should have complained at the till, however having taken family guests out for a meal, I didnt want to be making an issue/scene over the bill in front of them.On a positive the setting is lovely, food was decent and staff were pleasant.Unfortunately the whole experience was disappointing.

I love almost everything about this place. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food is excellent with a good selection of choices on the menu. Currently running a 2 for 1 on main meals on a Monday which is a fantastic offer not to be missed. The ambience is great and very relaxed. There is a limited choice of draught beers but for me, the area that needs improving is their desserts which are all essentially the same consisting of a small glass, with biscuit base and flavoured mousse or creamy custard layer. I have a sweet tooth but always decline their sweet offerings. That said, overall I really like Fratellis and would be a regular visitor. I certainly recommend you try it out for yourself.
