Franco's Fish Shop Limited in Bridgend

Young girl was having trouble with the till, but couldn't apologise enough. She was very polite and a credit to the shop. The food itself was very good, and the only 'negative' was that the portion of chips was too big!!

Food was cold the time it took too get to the table and so was the place we seated the hole place needs a clean I could skate on the floor was so slippery and the toilet was even more dangerous the staff are jest going through the baer not going there again come on it's a holiday town you need people in there you gowing to drive them away

Ate in, ordered a kids meal and a burger then was told theres no ketchup, ordered cup of tea to be told no milk, cutlery dirty, empty vinegar pot at the table and greasy salt cellar plus table was sticky.. All in all quite a disappointing visit

Good food, fish is always tasty and batter crispy. Always manage to get a table to eat inside. Don't know why people queue for beales when this is across the road

A little to loud for me, but that is a good thing as they are always very busy. Fish was the nicest I've had in porthcawl in a long time, and potions are very generous. Would definitely go there again

We ate in. F&Cs with curry sauce. The curry sauce was quite strong, which I liked, but my wife didn't. The fish was proper tasty with light fluffy batter. The chips were perfect. All served piping hot. Well worth the walk from Trecco Bay holiday park.

First time calling, and the last! Judging by the reviews today must of been a bad day...ordered pie,chips! The chips came cold and looked undercooked! Never tasted chips so dry and flavourless! The pie had no flavor..it was like earing dry cardboard with gravy! Chips shop chips are meant to be abit greasy..these chips looked like they'd been left out in the air for hours!

Making a 20-minute detour because of all the great reviews, I arrived and was left waiting for my order to be taken over five minutes, although I was first in line, standing at the counter and by one of the tills. It was a busy Saturday evening, but there was no welcome or acknowledgement; the four young staff did the online orders in front of me as if I wasn't there. Eventually, I asked if I should order online, and one of the staff looked over and mumbled something about having to do another order. When my order was finally taken (two large pieces of cod and one portion of small chips), it needed to be corrected, and I repeated the order, took my order number and waited for a very long time while other similar orders (made after mine) came and went. After a further 15 minutes (understandable at busy times), I returned to the counter to enquire about mine and was told it would be a few more minutes, and it was, but the order was wrong and had been prepared as two fish and two chips. A simple mistake and easily corrected. I asked for the chips to be removed and a refund, which was done with one of the staff members complaining about ‘why’ it was wrong and cutting her eye. I took my refund and order, and my wife and I ate by the seafront. The fish was disappointing, tasting very old, looking discoloured and with a slimy texture. It was uneatable. After all the hassle of the order, I couldn't bring myself to make the 10-minute journey back for a refund and ate the perfect chips. Overall, the experience could have been better, and I won't be returning the next time we're in the area.

I paid £23 for a large COD and chips, a fish cake and chips, a side of curry sauce and also two 500ml bottles of Diet Coke. The price seemed very reasonable for such large portions. Me and my partner were very full afterwards. The food was very tasty. The chips were large and chunky and golden brown with a nice soft fluffy inside. The COD was also delicious. The inside has had a revamp since being taken over by new owners. Overall we had a good experience and will definitely be paying another visit in the future.

Cant thank the staff enough tonight for their support 16/9/23' grandson petriefied off the flying daddy long legs spider's' we went in' sat diwn to eat' 3-4 in shop flying around' sat in to eat' he had a melt down' he suffers with autisum' one shop lady went round shop killing em' and the other couple of ladies transfered our food to take out carton's so we could leave without causing my grandson any more unnecessary stress' again thank u'

Had cod and chips,cod was cooked with skin on,most chippy cod is skinless its only haddock were they leave skin on.the batter was very tough.

Had lovely fish and chips in Francos on Saturday 9th September the food was beautiful the fish was cooked perfectly and the chips were lovely too

Usually really nice thtoughtout winter season, however young counter staff girls couldnt cope with being busy, nice weather...trying to rush but clumsy dropping food and messy..then not offering forks or napkins to customers after a long wait for food...

It has to be 5 stars after having food twice at a nearby Fish and chip shop that starts with “B” and having to throw it away as it was saturated with salt. I called in to Franco’s Fish bar you don’t have to que outside. The fish was cooked to order and it was fresh. The chips were cooked perfectly and you can taste the difference at this plaice ! Curry sauce was good and Ice cold drinks ! Been several times since the standard is always perfect.

Just had cod and chips. Not impressed seemed like chip were some old some fresh. Fish very watery like it had been cooked from frozen. Very disappointed as looked good in tray.

Avoid this fish and chips shop, staff are rude, chips are tiny and sharp, battered fish is dripping with water, and still has skin on fish. Veggie burgers were frozen still inside

Absolutely delicious fish & chips today, would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting Porthcawl. The fish was cooked fresh for us, the batter was light and crispy and the chips were fluffy on the inside. Served in a box, a decent size portion and easy to eat on a bench or beach.

It was our first visit following a recommendation and I have to say we were not disappointed, the food was first class, along with the courteous service from the staff. The restaurant is clean and well presented. We will return on next visit to Porthcawl.

Nice meal at a decent price - too often chip shops with restaurants give tiny portions at inflated prices, but here it was only a little more than you would expect to pay for a takeaway and was good portion size

Quick and efficient and competent young staff. Reasonably priced for the amount and quality and quantity of food. The plaice I had in breadcrumbs cooked to order was delicious. Definitely recommend to others.

Fantastic was able to eat in this week. Fish and chips abd mushy peas plus sundae ordered on five occasions staff very friendly. Wearing thank you nhs shirts of which my wife appreciated working for nhs. Just a shame will have to wait a few months to visit again on holiday.

Small chips really is small, probably had about 10 chips!!! Gravy like flavoured water. Sausage was nice. Shop itself is clean and tidy.
