Received raw chicken nuggets not what you expect after spending £40 on food, will not be back and usually a regular customer

Portion sizes getting smaller every time,and for the price id expect a bit more, staff really need to look like they want to be there

Got the FT meal absolutely fantastic The gravy chip is amazing And they still have plastic straws so I can auctly enjoy my coke

In one word DISGUSTING. Food awful,staff unfriendly.Waste of money as nothing eaten.Fish was greasy and chips hard and cold.

Friar Tucks was always a family favourite. Since they renovated the restaurant it has got worse and worse. The food is now just ok. Portions have got smaller and sometimes ordering can be difficult as the staff don't seem interested in being there. Place needs a good clean. The fact your chair slides on the floor as you are not moving highlights how much grease and dirt is on the floor. If you get a family meal it is a nightmare to get it without salad as the staff say it does not come with any, it does, every time and when you ask for some plated it is like you are giving them a really difficult job to do. Play area has been closed for a few years.

Food was ready very quickly in 5 mins. First of all, got home and they forgot the coleslaw (main reason for going to Friar tucks). Opened my wrap, was soggy and sauce leaking out, not even closed. Took a bite and pulled a thick black hair out of my mouth. I understand this can happen but with how the food was thrown together I knew there was no care going into the food. Had a garlic cheese bacon chip, was half full with undercooked bacon. Was really disappointed and a waste of money as did not eat any of it. A really bad experience. I’ve had some ok experiences here before. But no customer should take that home especially when it cost £25.

You can eat in or take away, great selection of chicken and fish dishes and mushy peas on the menu too. Plenty of sit in seating and street parking outside.

I was in Newry on Friday the 5th of November. Everything was fine it's fast food and I was eating out of necessity. The food was of a good standard and the staff were good and I sat down next to a group of teenage boys. A few moments later the manager approached the young men and in what I can only discribe as the worst display of bad manner's and unprofessional behavior I have ever seen. Seemingly one of the boys was eating Subway and the rest were consuming food from the premises. He actually began to swear at the young man and tell him to get the F out of the restaurant. The young man got up red-faced to leave and he continues to swear and F at him till the young man finally told him to F off. I'm only sorry I didn't say something and walk out. I think I was actually in shock at what I was seeing. I will never ever go back. There are nicer way to approach these situations and allow your paying customer's enjoy there food without such disgusting displays of bullying.

Safe to say I will not be getting another chicken wrap to go from this place ..tasteless and soggy..took ages to get my order and a grumpy lady to serve me...

Avoid this place! Late in the evening when tired and passing through Newry, we wanted somewhere relatively convenient to eat. While we were not expecting a gourmet experience by any means...this is of course a chipper with a large seating area....our very modest expectations were not met. Fish and chips with a side of coleslaw....the fish in batter was greasy in the extreme...it oozed grease. I cannot comment on the coleslaw as it did not entice enough to try. Ate a few chips and they were average. Although very hungry, I only ate a few mouthfuls and then left. Partner’s chicken dish appeared to be better but I did not try it.

Fast food but good fast food. Staff were friendly. Area clean as were the tables. I have been in other friar tucks and have had to ask staff to clean table before use.

Last week I was with my wife and children and I was served by the most nicest people you would ever meet. The food tasted complementary. I quite enjoyed it and will definately will be back. Chao! 😀😀😀

Love this place. When in the mood for fast food this is our go to place. Always get the same quality. Hot chicken salad is class

This was the third time l have eaten here on a Friday evening while visiting Newry. Their Fish and chips are renowned in the area.It was six thirty on a Friday evening. I ordered Fish and Chips at the service point. The response came back we have run out out of the battered Haddock so there is only breaded fish left. I conceded, paid and went to find a seat and wait then 15 minutes for my meal because the breaded fish portion was frozen. The waitress arrived with my plate of food. I could not believe the size of the breaded portion, the interior was the size of a standard fish finger coated, £2.20p cheaper than the fresh battered portion of fish which is three times the size. Reluctantly l munched-my way through the crunchy, beautifully cooked chips, the mushy peas were well flavoured and an appetising colour, the salad had too many finely chopped fresh white onions which at the best of time can be too strong and harsh in a salad. I had expected the business to show willing and offer me another piece of breaded fish free of charge but l was asked to pay for another breaded fish finger. I left disappointed with my meal.

Second time reviewing here. Reason being went for breakfast this time and ordered the porridge. It was delicious. Big portion and came with extra fresh fruit, milk and honey. Really enjoyed and very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to return.

Wanted something tasty on a busy Saturday. I got the chicken fillet salad that came with a large breaded chicken fillet which was delicious! My mother got a cheese burger and chips which she really enjoyed. The chips where nice and fresh, the nicest in newry. Friendly staff, clean and Trendy interior with plenty of seating and table service. Will definitely be returning.

Clean, chicken a hell of a lot better than any rivals. Chips the way the6 should be. However, somewhere to take the kids, or from 3.30 to 5.00, to meet teenagers.

Basically its a fast food place. We went in for ice cream which was great! Lots of seating and perfect for families with small kids but don't expect a gourmet meal!

Frair Tucks is a family friendly restaurant. The chicken burgers are very tasty but a bit expensive when you are buying them and chips for a whole family. Dont go as often now because of the cost.

This is actually the worst fast food I've eaten. Jesus. The chips were horrible, coleslaw was fairly disgusting and we ended up not eating the majority of it. Wouldn't give it to my dog. Shame - as we'd heard good things.

This is a fast food chain Which does the best chicken and chips in sauce in town. Chicken burger or chicken supreme is a must try. Your arteries will thank you for it.

Frair tucks has become a traditonal pit stop for the weary traveller arriving from foreign lands and much travellibg. Is also beloved by revellers post night out. Can be hit and miss sometimes manna and others not great. Usually always edible. Famous for curry hip and chicken burgers [prounced bour-gurr] by locals. not great value, but usually tasty.

ate here for years used to be great, had the best chicken burger about, went downhill chips half cooked, double dipped etc. very expensive for quality of food.

Pretty rubbish food. The coleslaw is just cabbage and mayo -- no carrot. The chips come in a polystyrene cup. They stick the straw into the lid of your take away cups so it leaks your drink all the way home in your car. Chips are under cooked and greasy.

food in newry friar tucks is lovely the one in banbridge is stinking. the chips are different and greasy in banbridge. for some reason the one in banbridge is dearer. can't beat the chicken burgers thats the main thing I would get in friar tucks

far too expensive. £7.49 for a fish meal, the fact that this is emblasoned on a poster outside tells me somebody is very badly informed, this is not cheap! for another couple of quid you can get a steak, I would say don't shout about it!

The chicken and chips tasted of oil and thankfully had a tub of delicious chicken gravy which everything was dunked to mask the taste.

The first time I ate food from Friar Tucks I was in my early teens and now when I am hitting 40 years of age I have vowed never to step food in it again! We purchased a take away order and as soon as we got home opened it up to find it was probably the worst food I had ever wasted money on. I immediately phoned them to tell them particularly how the chips had been fried over and over so many times they were inedible. I asked who I was speaking to as I thought I had recognised the voice as being the owner...I was right, I told him of how I had been buying from FT for almost 30 years and how over the years I have moved for work and not lived in the area at times, that every time I visit or move home that FT was one of our first ports of call and that having just moved home a couple of weeks ago that every time we come home FT seems to get worse and worse and that it was a shame that they did not serve food to the quality that they did years ago....His response was very shocking, he said 'right, I've heard your story and don't want to hear any more of it. We are busier that we have every been, you can pick up your partial refund tomorrow.....I am not interested in anymore of your stories'. He was downright rude in my opinion. My advise is stay away because no matter if the food did improve there is no way I would want to give my money to someone with that snotty attitude to customers.

tasty fast food with free small kids play center upstairs cheap & cheerful fish & chips peas n tea n bread & butter for less than a tenner is just great value

From childhood school lunchtimes to a treat with my own kids it's hard to beat this for fast food. 'Proper' chippy chips, to die for chicken fillet burgers and the chicken gravy (or sooper chips!) are just gorgeous!

On the one hand the chicken and coleslaw is to die for and you just want more but when you realise it's heavily loaded with salt to the point your blood pressure is rising you think twice, to be honest it's a nice treat one a month but no more and the price is very high given its a chicken burger after all. Service is middle to bad, they have a deal buy 2 get the third free but you always have to remind them, surprise surprise., one good point is they deliver and really late too

If you like cheap slop inundated with fat or you would like to know how to turn morbidly obese and lower your life expectancy all served by slave driven teenagers then this is the place to be. Dog food would be more appealing than the over priced garbage sold here. For less money you can pop across the street and enjoy a proper dinner for less money.

Good quality fast food. I love the chicken burger which is made of breast fillet and their famous strawberry milkshake. Their pizzas are also good. The only downside is that the staff are generally quiet young and sometimes a wee bit rude.

I had heard so much about Friar Tucks from my boyfriend who is Irish and how they have the best chicken burgers around,and he was right if its tasty fast food your looking for thats great value for money then come to Friar Tucks the food is pretty excellent considering its fast food,it puts other big fast food chains to shame.

Friar tucks has gone wayyy down hill over the last few years, the sugar island branch is by far the worst. The staff are so rude and do not know the meaning of customer service, also all staff uniforms appear to be dirty anytime i've been in. Last time i was in i ordered a super FT meal which was £7.49 it is supposed to be a chicken burger large chip in a choice of sauce and a drink. I'd been told by a few people if u ask for ur sauce separate they give u a tiny chip, so i tested the theory it was correct. I had exactly 13 chips with my meal!!!! and they were horrible, tasted and felt like they had been cooked and recooked about 5 or 6 times, also at night they use frozen chips. would never go again rip off for disgusting food

Helpful Staff and Very Good Food!......No dislikes on this one....Chicken was done to a nice crispy bite and Fries were done to a golden brown just the way we love them!

Long, long - SO long - wait to be served by disinterested staff. even 'though only a few customers.Chicken - soggy, soggy, soggy and utterly flavourless. Chips - 75% cookedAsked for Panini - they gave me ciabatta - it looked revolting mush. It was also soggy all the way through with a few pieces of chicken floating in inedible foul gunge. No Hygiene rating on display. MUST be really low. Best keep it well hidden.Toilets had not been cleaned all day. No toilet roll. NO ROTA BOARD so obviously management do not care one iota.This used to be a great eating place. It must be under new owners who appear to really, really hate and despise their customers. As others have said here it has descended to the pits. We left disgusted - worst looking food; worst tasting meal EVER. NEVER EVER AGAIN.KFC - here we come. (and we did but could not get in because it was Queued out the door!!)

Friar Tucks is neither a Mc.Donalds or a chippy. It is just handy as it opens later in evening. Food average. Priced not too bad. Quality and quantity not too bad.If nothing else better around it fills a hole.

Stopped off today at Warrenpoint shop and was AMAZED at the value Two supreme meals for £6.99 and to tops things off we were able to get a Timoneys Ice-cream when leaving. Amazing home made chips and ice cream we'll be back again

I worked with this great family 25 years ago .moved away I was bk ordered 2 chicken burgers and got a third one free'delicious the chips are home made again beautiful.everything was spotless .thats how a fast food restaurant should be run they have a 5 in food hygine displayed on front door..highly recommend

Ordered a curry chip and a burger meal deal .Price was £13.50.£4 to deliver a half mile round the corner.Greasy and curry sauce was rank.Will never be back, avoid like the plague.Hate getting ripped off in my home town.

I'll not be back to this place. The attitude of the staff is unbelievable. I sent my daughter in to buy the family feast to try and avoid contact with the tattooed hood. When I got home we realised that she had been over-charged - the family feast had been on offer at that time of day but we had been charged the full price. Concerned that either the staff or the owner was ripping people off I returned with the food and asked for an explanation. According to the owner it was just that particular till that wasn't configured for the deal. I asked how many people had been ripped off at that till - the little cultchie Hitler obviously doesn't appreciate anyone questioning him as he flipped his lid. He 'defended' himself with 'Well you got your food didn't ye' and 'Sure it's only three fifty'. I asked for my money back - I don't think it is sensible to eat food prepared by someone with no respect for their customers. I have spent hundreds over the years in this place just on kids birthday parties but won't be back. Looks like every penny is a prisoner for Mr Downey.

the times we ate resulted in food poisioning, very seldom food is fresh,staff dont communicate,very expensive, to walk a few steps would take you to grounded cafe.

Myself and my husband ordered burgers, mine a hawiian and hubby a salad burger, mine had mayo in it I thought it strange then he opened his it had thousand island obviously a mix up I just brought it to their attention so they said they'll fix it. That was ok but the girls there (4 of them) hudled round talking about us,the burgers where nice, headind into the toilets. ABSOLUTLY DISCUSTING!!!!!!! I had to clean my toilet seat and another toilet not nice (enough said) Wouldn't recommend.........

The chicken burgers are to die for but I don't usually order anything else. The food is extremely expensive.

we would come here with the kids sometimes for teatime. The menu is abit overpriced for a chicken burger meal but the food is also good and staff are friendly and the place is spotless. We normally go to sugar island, newry.

The only thing going for Friar Tucks is the lovely chips. I ordered and asked if I could get a small amount of garlic sauce instead of the BBQ sauce with my chicken nuggets, (not even the full tub of sauce they do) as I am allergic to many BBQ sauces (so just don't chance it any more!) The woman serving me said she would have to charge me! I had eaten in before and this had never been done before as I was getting such a small quantity - I told her this and she said it was £1 for garlic sauce, even though I was not having their BBQ sauce. She was so incredibly rude - no need for it. Awful customer services. No matter how nice the chips are - I will not be going back! (the 2 is for the chips)

Prefer Macdonalds and Little Chef than Friar Tucks. Cant think of worse food. Actually I know one place but not in Ireland

Friar tucks if your drunk and hungry and in the area after been on a nite out,not to be eaten any other time as its a hit and miss.

If your buying here in the evening don't they serve it up like serving pigs, they think everyone is drunk, I wouldn't feed my dog what they dish out,,,, manners are long gone here

The Warrenpoint branch is definatly to be avoided as remarked they serve up small portions totally ignoring the portion sizes they clearly display, not many resteraunts deliberlitly decieve their customers in this manner so the fact that they even attempt it surley shows their buisness practice if they do this god knows what else they do behind the counter I have stopped using all Friar tucks entirley due to my bad experience in warrenpoint and as I had previously and regulary used the newry branch bringing kids out on youth trips it has cost them money

I also remember getting a superchip in warrenpoint friar tucks that was a lot smaller than the one in the picture, my uncle complained and the owner no less said and I quote "your avin a laf" so much for customer service we left feeling that we had been conned and insulted, no member of our family has ever went back to any friar tucks, places like this should be blacklisted in some way so customers are aware of their ploys

I have eaten at friar tucks twice once in monaghan st and the other time in warrenpoint at warrenpoint we ordered a chip and gravy meal that was advertised in shop with a picture when we got our food the portion was a lot smaller we complained but no one done anything at newry we decided no to order the same thing this time we ordered what was claimed to be chicken supreme belive me this is not chicken supreme or anything close it is if fact chicken and a indifferent gravy it should not be advertised as chicken supreme as it is not also they should not mislead eaters with incorrect pictures and then fob them off with smaller portions this would not happen in banbridge they would be pulled up on it why do the appropiate authorities let them off ?

We stopped of on our way home for a bite to eat and we were not expecting much, how wrong we were the staff were excellent, food served promptly and the portions were huge this is no Mc Donald’s or Kfc where things are skinny and not very filling, it is a lovely restaurant.
