Fox Inn in Guildford

Went to see a singer here, the moment we walked into the pub we were met and served drinks by the owner, we were not made to feel welcome, and felt quite uncomfortable being there, we had one drink and left not hanging about for the singer, the place looked dirty and unkept, we did order food from the car park catering tent which is advertised by the fox , this was cold and inedible, not for us

We have been visiting the Fox on and off for many years. In spite of this it now always feels as though it’s the first time. Unless a regular the welcome is consistently lukewarm and the arrogance of the landlord dominates. If you don’t know your gins or the expensive wines on the list you are definitely frowned upon. Getting past the old cronies in the bar areas is a challenge-perhaps they too are rating the ‘newbies’. The pizza van is the only attraction on Tuesdays and Saturdays - at least he gives a friendly hello and how are you whenever we go back. And the pizzas are great! Sadly the Fox needs to up its game. It used to be a great place for a drink with live music and a landlord is was always friendly, and who warmly interacted with his clientele. A local country pub should be one locals and visitors alike are made to feel welcome. There is certainly a lot of work to be done here to achieve this.

A Good Quality place to visit for a pub drink with a fair sized pub garden located in Worplesdon ,surrey.

Full of potential in a lovely corner of town with a lovely garden and always used to look lovely in general. It closed for a couple of years through covid but although it was worrying whether it had fallen prey to the pandemic. Seeing it open again 18m ago was a relief. But unfortunately I don’t think it will last more than another 18m. New landlord is very rude unless you happen to be one of the better spoken older men dressed up like they would fit in on a golf course and probably wouldn’t have there ‘private’ area disrupted as much on a large open space, rather than huddling around the already small bar area and clearly not liking others walking through or god forbid wanting to go to the bar!! The huffs and puffs and grumbles are loud and clear. Yet they could be ignored if everything else was as lovely and quaint as it was before covid. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s been dusted or cleaned at all since it was closed for lockdown. Dead plants hanging everywhere, well branches with dead leaves and written wafer like leaves. Layers of Dust on everything and clear to see at the glance round. Toilets are grubby and you can smell the stale over powering pungent urine stench coming from inside the male loos as you approach the entrance!! The floors need a bloody good sweep and scrub! The back bar is crowded and dirty to look at. It’s a very musty stale place these days. And it also shows from outside, driving past in a car!! The paint on all the windows and wooden entrance, signs and front need a good sanding and re paint, the pub itself could do with a lick of white to wake it up a little, and although the food vans are a good idea for the local people, they sometimes look just as bad as the pub behind them that’s slowly rotting away. I used to really enjoy a sunny afternoon in the garden there with a bottle of wine and a good book or catch up with a friend. But despite it being dirty, looking dirty and run down the landlord is not at all welcoming or friendly and that has been the case on several re visits. Most would understand that costs are high reopening a business and turning a profit before painting the walls and tidying the front of the building out But this horrible little man seemingly has no concern for making it a busy little loved local again, and seems happy enough with his little gathering of stuffy pensioners in there also being rude. However there is no excuse for it being so dirty and musty and smelly. A cleaner an hour a day would keep on top of that small pub. And make the world of difference. All I can add is it’s a bloody good job they don’t make and serve food! However it seems it’s more important to have cars parked outside that are worth as much as a small house rather than generally keeping up with building maintenance. Unless he is happy pouring his money down the drain for the rest of his sad existence. I give it 2years maximum until it’s shut for good

We popped in for a lunch time drink and were pleasantly surprised . The Fox is a lovely pub with a delightful landlord who knows how to keep his beer in first class condition. We will definitely add The Fox to our list of favourite pubs.

The Fox is a fantastic pub and I'm very surprised at any negative reviews on here especially from Baz A, what a very rude review of such a great landlord who is always very welcoming. It has such a friendly atmosphere with lots of regulars who again are very welcoming. My husband says this pub serves the best beer, a great selection of real ales,and it's now got its entry in the Good Beer Guide 2023. The wine is excellent and although the pub doesn't serve its own food it has a variety of pop ups on given nights of the week. The Thai food is especially good. The live music on Thursday and Sunday evenings is brilliant, Nigel has some fantastic bands and singers playing, and if you haven't ventured out to this lovely pub in Fox Corner, I thoroughly recommend you do.

Having used the food trucks in the car park a few times which are great, good food & really friendly people I decided to take a friend into the pub one evening as they were advertising live music. The owner was very unwelcoming, wouldn’t let my dog sit next to me - even though I’d brought a blanket to cover the grotty torn plastic sofa & the music never appeared. Really disappointing as I’ve just moved back to the village & this pub is walking distance so would have used it regularly but never again

Stay on the road. Keep clear of the fox.. For it is the unwelcoming lair of the antagonistic love child of the energy vampire Colin Robinson and Christopher Biggin’s. While the fox looks inviting the management has the personality and drawl of a wet paper towel stuck dragging underneath the shoe of a funeral director. This ‘they’ try to make up for by displaying overly exuberant plumage which still manages to draw the soul from any unsuspecting visitors. Beware, be warned and be driving straight on by..

A fleeting visit, great ale selection and friendly enough hosts. Busy enough for a Friday evening without being overwhelming. Would come again

Good pub, good beer, good arrangement for food, just a bit expensive. £5.20 for a pint of real ale is a bit steep.

I was so pleased to see the fox had reopened after worried it would close for good, the new owner nigel is a really nice bloke with big plans for this local. The fox now had live music twice a week and a good selection of local ales... sadly they are not serving food just yet but i've been assured the restaraunt will be opening back up again but for now it's drinks only. The bar staff are so friendly and helpful (kiera being a long standing member) so it makes for a great experince. Overall this is a lovely local and even though it is not serving food (just yet) it's still worth a visit for nice drink!! Well reccomended.

I was really pleased to see that the pub had reopened after a long break, The real ale is good with a good selection however i was not so pleased to pay £4.80 for a pint of real ale which I believe is a bit steep.

Excellent atmosphere,not overpriced for the area, staff are friendly and are great with children, pleasant garden for when the weather is good. Highly recommend

As long as you’re local and a regular, you’ll probably like this pub. For anybody thinking of just calling in, think again. Visited for a casual beer, as I have done on many occasions (although it’s always only been average in terms of surroundings). Saturday afternoon but just one cask ale on, although it was in very good condition. Just taking my seat in one of the two main areas to enjoy said beer, only to be told by someone that they were just about to come in and sit there and that they usually reserve it. I questioned their approach but could tell I was getting nowhere. General atmosphere was akin to the scene in American Werewolf in London, where all other bystanders seem to think I was plainly in the wrong. Briefly, I placed my beer on the bar and left. That’s about it.

It’s well run. Friendly staff, locals are a nice lot. Well kept beer. Still not eaten here but intend too. Down here once or twice a week when I can. Not pretentious. Just a good local well kept.

Under new management from the new landlady; the fox inn has gone from strength to strength. Although the pub was great before with the new land lady and her team behind her the pub has got even better.Not only does the pub offer an amazing selection of drinks to choose from, you can also sit down and have a high quality dinner at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is amazing with locals always chatty. Thank you for the great experience of a traditional pub!!!

Having been brought up around here in the 80's, the Fox was a place you would avoid. Think grumpy customers and landlord, a smoky, dirty bar and the chance of being beaten up late on a Friday night. I am pleased to say all has now changed and the Fox is now a great local pub, meeting place and friendly haven with welcoming locals and staff.

We had a very long and lazy Sunday lunch at the Fox. Some had a Roast and a couple of us the Burger sourced from the local butcher, highly recommended. A super-friendly atmosphere and the service was attentive but not over the top. Friends enjoyed the ales too !

With friends we have used The Fox regularly over the last 4 years, when it reopened and run by a guy names Ed it was excellent. Now it`s looking very jaded. Food a bit inconsistent and as for the beer range forget it, gone the local beer which was worth the visit alone, now the choice is abysmal, total lack of imagination. All of us agreed either the management ups it`s ideas or another pub lost.

This is a regular little spot we go to for lunch and dinner. Food is always very nice. It can be a bit hectic when it's busy as it's not the largest pub, but it alway has a lovely atmosphere.

I pop in here for a swift half every now and then. It’s a beautiful little pub with a friendly feel to it. It’s nice in the summer with the garden. Only downside is if it’s busy it’s just too small and becomes very overcrowded very quickly

We wanted to enjoy a post wedding meal / party with our families and friends and right from the start with our discussions with Ray and Kayleigh we were very pleased why we had faith in The Fox making in all happen on our memorable day ! (25 persons). Kayleigh and the team went way beyond our expectations with no worries or concerns in delivering the most fantastic meal of fillet beef for us, with puds to die for. No request was too much trouble and demonstrated what a great team is in place, with much praise from our family and friends on the quality of the food and service. We are looking forward to coming back very soon with the livery yards clients Xmas dinner, and fortunate to be able to call The Fox Inn our favourite local pub, and a proper pub ! Thanks to everyone again.

Time to pull your socks up, Mr Fox. First, food & drink - of 3 Sunday roasts, one excellent, with thick slices of meat & veg in a separate dish, then two with thin slices & very variably cooked veg on the plate. One occasion, just 2 choices of pretty middling beers. Then the decor, now getting tired after five(?) years - table tops needing refinishing (& sometimes sticky), same pictures on the walls, same music being played. Beware, Foxy! The Cricketers is opening soon.

This local, and it was the local for the locals according to the staff, was pleasantly busy on a wet Friday night. The staff were friendly and served us well. The food was good standard pub fare at upper average price. Noisy but atmospheric.

Went just for drinks on a Friday evening and was amazed at how busy it was. Really friendly staff and friendly customers as well. Would like to try eating there some time very soon because the smells that came out of the kitchen when the fish and chips were being brought out was just enough to make your mouth water!

Loved this pub full of locals and interesting clientele who are obviously great regulars. The two bars are welcoming and the restaurant side also very well done you don’t wish you were in another area. I had lambs liver which was one of the best in a restaurant for a while. Staff were so lovely without being intrusive. Great place the locals are so lucky

Great Food here very good service arrived just as they opened and had a couple of starters from the menu .As i was halfway through a walk i didn't want a heavy lunch .This was perfect as I had the chicken wings which was very tasty we ended up spending more time than intended there because it was so good .A great place with very friendly helpful staff .

We had a lovely day visiting The Fox with family for lunch. The most friendliest, helpful members of staff and the food is delicious. Very enjoyable and will return ☺️

after reading the reviews booked a table. Absolutely awful. I had lasagne which was dry and unappetising (seemed liked it had been in the oven all morning) having waited over half an hour; my friend had the cod which was all batter. Having paid over £32 was expecting something more. The waitress did ask if it was OK and I told her no but all she could say was sorry. This was our first visit and will be the last

I happened across this delightful pub, in the most tranquil of areas north of Guildford. The outside demonstrates the beautiful traditional English pub which is so inviting & the inside is magnified by the outside, the staff & managers are so welcoming which added to a most wonderful atmosphere, I had a light lunch that was presented beautifully & tasted wonderful, if ever I pass this way again I will definitely drop in. All towns should have a pub like this.

Popped into this pub on our way back from a night out - about 9pm on Saturday. Very quiet indeed with about 8 people there. Expected it to be busy as looks nice from outside too. Had a round of drinks sitting indoors (little too chilly to be outside). Friendly staff and nice size car park. Lots of seating outside which we'll try next time.

Had trouble booking- no on line system- tried from 9am on the day we wanted to book, answer phone only. Managed to get someone to answer at 12-20 pm to book. Their web site does say open from 12-00 pm- so at present, does not cater for anybody that wants to book on any day before 12pm- Mmm !

Used to come here about 10yrs ago and always enjoyed the visit . Apparently since then it’s closed and reopened with a local couple at the helm . Outwardly not much has changed - good car park, homely bar and nice dining areas . It could do with a tweak or two for wheelchair users .

We chose this pub/restaurant as it is located quite near to Merrist Wood, where we were going with a group of friends to do an Escape Room on a Saturday evening. I telephoned in advance to check if we could book a table and the manager Brad, offered to email a menu so that we could pre-order to save time. This all worked out well and because we were a group of 10 we were given a large table in a side room all to ourselves. We only had drinks, starters and mains but everyone seemed happy with their choices. The Chicken Supreme Pie which I chose, was exceptionally good. Would certainly recommend.

This is a great pub with excellently cooked food. It is not an extensive menu but the food is cooked by a proper chef. I had asparagus with a perfectly pouched egg and crispy pancetta and Keith had mussels which he said we're delicious. I

Dropped in for supper when we were passing - we’ve meant to try it for ages, as the car park’s always full, which is pretty encouraging. It was a very chilly day, so the red hot wood burning stove was extremely welcome!

The Fox has gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years.

We come here every so often on a sunny day so we can sit in the beer garden. Always really impressed by the food and the friendly staff. The only problem was that they needed to add more veggie options to their menu. Well they've certainly done that! Their new mushroom and black bean vegan burger was absolutely yummy. It takes a lot for me to be impressed by a veggie burger as they're usually quite boring but this one is amazing. Well done team!

We visited to celebrate my Grandmother’s 83rd Birthday. I called ahead to check if they could cater for celiac’s which they said they could. We then had a call to say they were sorry but the fryer that does their gluten free fried items like chips wasn’t working which was fine. However when we arrived we were told the chef had cleaned and changed one of the fryers and could cater for friend gluten free items. That’s what I call service and looking after your customers thank you!

We are very fortunate to have this as our local pub and restaurant. We had a meal there on Friday evening, the first since a recent change in the chef. The food has gone from strength to strength and the new head chef, Shaun Mew is certainly going to be an asset to an already successful venue. Four of us dined and had just a main meal, although the starters we saw going out to other diners looked lovely. We had, calves liver; belly pork; local sausages and mash; and the fish and chips. Each of us was delighted with our meal. The service remains as attentive and friendly as always and the atmosphere in bar and eating areas convivial. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Tried the Sunday roast last weekend..(Chicken)..enjoyed it so much that I went back today to try the Roast beef....excellent. Best it has been in a while...roast potatoes were just perfect....compliments to the chef....great choice of menu plus additional specials....certainly worth a visit...

Visited The Fox in September and had great food with the pate a particular highlight.

Really amazing food and service, from walking in as newbies to speaking to a lovely northern girl Kerry about the local area and favourite dishes served. Kerry was very attentive and went above and beyond in all areas. Even about a bill being incorrect which was rectified immediately.

This is everything you would expect from a good English country pub , good beer, good food, outside seating for the summer and a cosy fire in the winter complete with welcoming and attentive staff and a friendly dog. Its simply one of those place you feel immediately at home in.

I haven't been in to the fox for a while so popped in with my other half on sat night for a meal, it has always been good before but the chef excelled him/her self this time.

From the very moment you walk into the Fox inn the atmosphere and staff are warm and welcoming. A gorgeous pub with the best food I’ve eaten in a long time. The menu changes frequently as the chef uses seasonal produce and it’s not a disappointment. The main course and dessert that I ordered were absolutely delicious and it was made all the more enjoyable by the wonderful service from the staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful. This was my first visit to the fox inn but it definitely won’t be my last. I would highly recommend a visit to the fox inn. Thank you to all the staff for making my lunchtime such a lovely one - with a special mention to Tyson, it was ❤️ at first sight for me ❤️ xxx

Found this delightful Inn by chance. We only had the soup but it was absolutely delicious. Watching the other meals come out they looked wonderful too. Staff and service was really good. Hopefully I’ll get to come back for a full meal soon.

Really convenient for the walk's route. Pleasant and helpful staff - even being totally honest with me about not being able to get me a dessert before we needed to leave. Good mix of modern and traditional pub with a good bar scene. Good range of food (reviewed daily I'm told) - likewise real ales and ciders. Well presented good portions when it came up. Large garden and dog-/family-friendly. The resident grey staffie was a treasure too!

We have been here a number of times now after friends recommended it. The food is really really good and never disappoints. The interior has the right combination of pared down decor and cosiness. The service is great and the portions are good. Everything arrives good and hot and when my partner, who is vegetarian, didn't find anything to his taste the chef agreed to make him his favourite omelette and chips! On a Thursday evening there is a singer with a lovely voice who sings a great mix of songs - worth making a special visit to hear her. This is probably my favourite place to eat out.

Whenever I’m in the area I always make a bee line to the Fox. Consistently good food, lovely considerate staff, especially Robbie and Brad and the chap who has the history degree but I don’t know his name. Chatty team, knowledgeable and helpful. Great venue for dogs. Lovely environment to sit and read. Couldn’t recommend it enough

Called in the other evening as the weather was nice. Small, cosy interior with decked area and garden outside. You can bring dogs as well.

We have lived in the area for nearly 15 years. When we first arrived the Fox was one of our favourite places for lunch and even dinner occasionally. Things went awry over time; a change of chefs and less attention to all aspects of the food and drinks led us elsewhere.

Great for a pint or something to eat, busy and good atmosphere. Real home cooking on the menu! Highly recommend

A visit for 4 on Good Friday for lunch with my youngest son and his girl friend. A very warm and friendly welcome. Two fish and chips, a mushroom risotto and sausages and cauliflower cheese - extremely good and filled up any spare corners. A good selection of beers and all at a good price. We will definitely visit again. 5 stars and I recommend a visit to the Fox Inn.

5 star service and good food. On the menu there were lots of healthy, hearty options that I might make myself - chicken stews etc although I'm sure they also had the requisite pub staples of burgers, steaks and chips! Desert was excellent. All reasonably priced and with the excellent and friendly service it was a 5 star experience and we would return!

Went here on a Thursday as i was working in Woking and we were looking for somewhere to go with our Poochon Lola. Very nice atmosphere and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely meal and really enjoyed our visit. I would recommend this place especially if you want to take your dog. We will definitely visit again if we are in this area.

Literally just got in from my lunchtime (and first) trip to The Fox Inn. My belly is full. I had the Shepherds pie with cheesy mash topping and crusty bread, and damn it was good. I’m incredibly fussy when it comes to meat, especially mince. The lamb in this pie was bursting with flavour and great quality. No bits! Loads of cheesy mash on top. It was homestly the best Shepherds pie I’ve ever had. Not cheap but I don’t mind when the quality and flavour is there. The staff were so friendly and informative. I’ve lived in Guildford for twenty years and somehow missed this place. We’ll definitely be back. Very impressive.

Have had a very good meal and ales at this pub today. Took my sister in law for a birthday treat on the off chance that it would live up to what it claimed on the website and were not in any way disappointed. The menu was biased towards fish which two of us were very happy with, one other would have liked more that two meat options, but did enjoy the cottage pie. Very happy with the selection and condition of the ale on offer. Found the staff very pleasant and obliging and the ambience welcoming. Lovely and warm with the Wood burner near us, will definitely go back.

After crawling through the snow from Guildford at 25 mph, we expected to be practically the only ones there to take up our booking to see the lovely Joanne Rowlands and hear her beautiful singing.

The fox is run by heartfelt bar staff! Words can’t explain how amazing they made my sisters birthday, they laid the table, bought her a card, even sang her a song on the mic. The little touches go a long way!

Over the years this pub has had alot of up`s and down`s, it is now the best I have ever...

This was our first visit. The bar man was chatty, there was a good range of real ales, large portions...

Outstanding food, the menu is described simply but both starters and main courses far exceeded expectations. The Staff were very warm and atmosphere welcoming. Best pub meal we've had for some time. Congratulations to the new owners! We will definitely be back.

Came here for my partners 50th Birthday party with 13 family & friends and everyone remarked about their food being of top quality and cooked to perfection (my partner is a chef). We had one guest who was in a wheelchair and although it was a little tight in areas it was okay. The staff were very good and could not do enough for us, even though the place was busy, they did a super job. We have been here before (twice) and on all occasions have had a marvellous time. We all would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants quality food and superb service.

Have not been back since new management. What a Chan. Great menu. Giid good and drink selection. And amazing service. Will be back for sure. Had solo singer the Thursday we went in and was fantastic voice. Nice work guys have turned it into a great place to meet eat and have a beer.

Popped in with the kids for a Saturday lunch. Welcoming staff, nice understated decor and really delicious food. The starters were enormous so I struggled with my main. But the quality of the cooking and delicious flavours forced me to persevere! Will definitely be going back!

Visited for dinner one Saturday evening, the food was very good, however the Landlord was rather miserable and this unfortunately tainted the evening.

A family Sunday lunch out - excellent venue and quality food. My wife and I had roast pork and my son had cod and chips. Before I visited I did my home work and interrogated tripadvisor for a recommendation. The reviews of the Fox Inn are absolutely 100% spot on. We should have had puddings but I was out voted! The welcome received was excellent, service was warm and friendly and the food was of good quality and value for money. I recommend a visit.

we had the beef and pork roast yesterday at the Fox Inn,and it was delicious. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and I even asked for extra pork which I got at no extra cost. Some people think the prices are expensive but to get good honest food you have to pay a bit extra,so I can recommend the Fox. It was busy when we turned up but as we booked a table this wasn't a problem,didnt wait too long for our meal. Try it you wont be disappointed.

Met a couple of friends here - we'd never been before and I got the pub from the Good Beer Guide (equidistant for us). Excellent ales and a lovely lunch: sole and liver/bacon were really good. Certainly a pub to recommend highly.

Goats cheese and beetroot starter delicious. Roast beef and all the trimmings - one of the best Sunday roasts I have eaten out in a long time thanks Rupert! Good wine, attentive service, a nice background chatter in comfy surroundings. Can't wait to return!

Food is great, went back for a second night. The only downside is some of the younger staff are random in terms of their service and, I suppose, from one point of view it's great they allow dog owners to bring their dogs, unfortunately the car park is dark and seems to be littered with dog crap, a pile of which is now smeared in the footwell of my new car after stepping in it...not best pleased about that..take a torch with you is my advice!

We have never been here before but certainly will be returning. It was Friday and the fish and chips were delicious . It has been well laid out and has a garden and car park.

We stumbled across this pub when trying to find some lunch in the Surrey area. We were drawn to this one as it looked friendly and cosy even from the outside. The inside didn't disappoint either! It was a typical country pub with a great atmosphere. It was pretty quiet, as we got there just after the lunchtime rush and there was one member of staff but the service he provided was lovely. Very friendly and nothing was too much despite him doing it all on his own. The food we had was brilliant and reasonably priced. The menu offered so many good dishes and such a variety, that it definitely took a while to choose! We also couldn't resist a pudding (Chocolate brownie and Sticky toffee pudding) which was equally as delicious! A lovely touch to the place is that you can buy their own sourdough bread, cheese and coffee too!Just wish we lived closer to visit more often but will definitely be back!

Booked last minute for Sunday lunch.The service was good throughout and the menu had a good selection of food to suit all tastes. We decided to have the roast beef which arrived quickly,nice and hot with a good selection of side dishes. We arrived early but the pub soon became very busy with a good atmosphere,best to book before going. Will definitely return and try the deserts next time

With four old friends visiting Guildford for a wedding we wanted to find somewhere between us and them for a traditional Sunday lunch. We have driven past the Fox Inn many times but never stopped. Staff were very friendly and we booked in advance with no difficulty We all had a starter varying from baked camembert through scallops, and soup, to whitebait All were good We then had varying roast dinners. My beef was lovely Unfortunately by 13.00 the Chicken had finished We did not have dessert

I have been going to the Fox for a while now and the food and service is always excellent. However the Sunday Roasts are amazing and best i have ever had, I was . compelled to write this after my Roast beef on my latest visit.

Went for a lunch meeting, service was excellent and the food was good. Nice location with a good garden and would happily return with the family. Salmon fish cakes were great

Local bar with friendly staffs. Feel comfortable inside. The music background is a bit loud but doesn't bother at all. Because the songs are good, if you are fans of oldies band such as The Beatles, Bee Gees, or Queen. I feel relax in this place. Still love to come back to this place next time.

I came here for lunch with the other half and her parents, its quite a quirky kind of pub but we went there as we had heard good things about the food. at first look the menu seemed a bit on the expensive side, but after eating you realise its actually good value for the quality and portions that arrived. I had the Roast lamb which was cooked to perfection and a great choice of fresh veg, my girlfriend had red mullet with a risotto that was equally as good, the smoked mackeral pate starter was amazing, I finished with a creme brulee that was delicious. was also great to be able to hang around for a few drinks of proper beer (a local beer from Horsel that was in great condition) and although we were first timers were made to feel welcome by a friendly bunch of locals having a lively chat at the bar.service from the young staff was friendly and polite, We will definitely be back

Leuke pub. Eten is degelijk, niet héél bijzonder. Soms hoeft dat ook niet natuurlijk. Omgeving is erg mooi.

It was so good to see The Fox buzzy again and the food, especially the fish choices, was excellent and good value. Thursday night is music night there. And the chef excels.

We walked to The Fox over the common from Pirbright (great walk) and had an alfresco lunch without having made a booking. The menu was varied and the staff were more than pleased to answer any questions we had. The food is all home made and there are vegetarian options (not always marked on the manu though, hence the questions to the staff). The food is always of a high quality and the atmosphere in this pub is great. What a difference a change of ownership can make. I heartily recommend this pub.

Popped in on Friday evening.Great atmosphere with very friendly crowd.....everybody talks to each other....So then went on Sunday for lunch.The meat is from a terrific local butcher which we also use....The Fulkes' roast beef was superbly cooked and the four of us left nothing on the plate!!Good, attentive service.....Do book ....It is very popular and I know why!!
