Fox inn in Suffolk Coastal

A great location, a good & varied menu, friendly staff and a special offer deal on a dark February evening makes for a five star review. For anyone living locally, We’d recommend the Deben Inns app - easy booking and lots of offers year round to tempt you.

A great gem in the countryside. Fantastic food in a lovely atmosphere. Totally recommend a visit. Left totally satisfied and looking forward to going back soon.

Haven’t been to the Fox at Newbourne for many years but was very impressed with the food and service we had today. The gentleman waiter was very pleasant and expertly handled our food orders and payment.

Nice location, usually really good food too. Would appreciate more choice for veggies, they’ve done a veggie lasagne in the past which was so tasty, but not been on the menu for ages. Bit expensive for drinks, we got charged £2.40 for the lemonade in our gin, which I think may have been a mistake, but overall it’s a nice place to eat.

Nice friendly atmosphere. Great service, fantastic price but Sunday roast that whole family of 6 ate was pretty average. Agree with other reviewer that all our Yorkshire puddings although massive in size were just too crispy and roast potatoes were not crispy outside fluffy in the middle- tasted like frozen roasties. Beef that I ate was ok, carrots lovely. Would have liked Parsnips on a roast. Nice gravy. Everyone enjoyed their deserts. Excellent price did not expect 2 for 1 deal.

Sunday roast was bang average. Meat was average, Yorkshire was overcooked and veg was soft and soggy. Potatoes you could tell have been sat under a lamp all day. Sorry but you’ve got to do better! Gravy was the saving grace.

We took advantage of the ‘50% off food’ offer at The Newbourne Fox last month. The pub was packed despite it being a Tuesday evening, understandably as it’s an amazing offer! The food was as good as always, especially the cheesy mash-topped cottage pie, which was absolutely delicious and packed full of tender beef shin. Service was also excellent, as per usual. We may return this month as the offer has been extended.

A very disappointing boxing day lunch,we asked for my sons meal without spinach It arrived on a bed of spinach, I ordered a large whisky without ice, You guessed right it arrived with ice in it, I think my Salmon was smoked mackeral, then while we were still eating the bill was thrust upon us which we paid promptly, Then before I had finished my drink we were chased out because they wanted the table for someone else, I won't be rushing back.

Came here on Boxing Day and had a lovely lunch! As usual we were greeted warmly and received great service. Having originally booked for 4, they had been good enough to squeeze our table to 5 (which we had asked about beforehand). Any queries were quickly and efficiently sorted, without any issue. The food was, as usual, absolutely brilliant, with huge portions! This is definitely our favourite place to eat locally and we would thoroughly recommend!

Just called in for a quick meal on 13/11/23. I came on my own and was warmly greeted by Tim the lovely manager who also took my order. I always love going to The Fox as everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I had Cajun chicken and salad ( I didn't want the chips that is usually included with the meal). Disappointing Sunday roast. Had to wait over 30 minutes past our booking time. Very busy. Staff lovely and very apologetic gave us a complimentary free drink which was nice but when we did eventually get to sit down and receive our meals it really wasn't worth the wait. The meat was ok, the veg was uncooked, roast potatoes were undercooked and not crispy at all, hard to cut. Whole dinner was cold. We didn't complain because we didn't want to wait even longer and I don't actually think they could have improved on it unless completely recooking. Can't fault the staff they are overworked and trying the best they can. It's nice to have these offers but not if they over book and can't actually provide a decent meal. Won't go on a Sunday again it will be the Wilford Bridge for us, a much better experience.
