Great pints served by Josie. Lovely atmosphere in the pub. Our Sunday lunch was smashing. We are very lucky to call this our local.

Sunday lunch was very disappointing! We visited 17th March for a family dinner and it was the saddest roast we'd ever had. The dinner featured hard vegetables - the carrots must've ben boiled for no longer than 20 seconds and some equally hard broccoli. The meat (there was no chicken - despite half chicken being on the menu but our table had the beef and turkey) was wafer thin and was accompanied by 1 small uncooked stuffing ball. The dinners were missing mash potato? and one of our party had no stuffing. For six adults we were brought over 2 tiny gravy boats and had to request more but the gravy was tasteless and watery and didn't have an ounce of meat juice in it. Overal the table were very disappointed with both the quality and quantity of sunday lunches served.

Lovely meal for Mother’s Day , it was very busy but service was brilliant , food excellent and atmosphere great ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Came here for a meal with the family to celebrate my sons 18th birthday. The staff were all amazing,nothing was too much trouble. One of them decorated the cake before bringing it out. All were so friendly,offering to take photos too. Will definitely come back and would highlyrecommend to friends. Thank you

Recent New menu, great little pub for the area food of good and a small kids climbing frame out the back.

Joint birthday meal with family and booked well in advance. A bit disappointed as they had no fish and no steak pie atb7pm on a Friday evening. We chose alternatives but was once again disappointing as it seems both the Fox and Hounds and The Three Arches have let us down with the Fish and chips.. the food we had was ok but wondered why so early on a Friday evening they run out of Fish and Steak Pie??? Bad management maybe? Most people in the pub were drinkers for the rugby!

20 members of St Mary's Gardens Volunteers enjoyed another convivial lunch at The Fox on January 16th 2024. Mike and the Staff have given us amazing support in our project of restoring the historic Gardens across the road from the Fox ever since we began work in 2017. It was lovely to come in to find our table ready set and to receive a warm welcome. Despite the complexities of our various orders they were all perfectly fulfilled and served, freshly cooked and piping hot The service was as attentive and friendly as always. Another memorable occasion thanks to the hospitality of this community-minded Hotel.

On visiting for a family birthday meal , asked staff member which table we were on ,Was politely shown where and two male staff were very friendly on assisting myself to a table ,seating me and went to the bar for my drink as I was on crutches , had a lovely meal , food was amazing as always here , nice friendly staff as always , so is the landlord Mike always helpful.

The staff were all friendly and helpful but the pub was quite noisy and the food was okay but nothing special

Love this pub so much. Great food and great atmosphere and is will presented. Service is fabulous and the staff are so polite. If your looking for a nice pub this is the place to be.

The food is reasonably priced, just not amazing quality. The staff are friendly.

Ordered an Ice Cream Sundae from the Lunch Deal menu. It's just 3 scoops of ice cream served in a soup bowl. Not quite a sundae and a little misleading. Just call it 3 scoops of ice cream to save any confusion.

This was a family get together of about 20 people for my sons birthday. We did the same last year and we will very likely do the same next year. the service, staff, atmosphere is lovely, we all had a lovely time

I like the Fox and have been going there weekly for 40 years. The staff are great but unfortunately the draught beer is often undrinkable on a Sunday night. This has been the case for many months Brain’s bitter being the chief offender . I hope whatever the problem is it can be resolved

Easy to order, meals arrived promptly, staff happy to slightly amend order. Slight delay for sweets but coffees excellent and delivered quickly.

Breakfast with Santa. Such a magical experience for the kids and breakfast was great too. Staff were great and welcoming. Will definitely return

Bit dismayed on arrival that they had no record of our booking on their system, although I'd booked online and had text and email confirmations, all correct. Luckily, there were tables free. Then had very good, pleasant service from all staf. Nice atmosphere, food was OK, nothing special but nothing wrong with it either, standard pub meal. Good 30% off voucher made it a good deal, and they were very helpful re the £5 for 2 drinks offer too. Would return.

Celebrated our friend's birthday here. Staff were lovely and friendly and the service was quick. They didn't rush to ask us to vacate our table after our meal and were accommodating with the birthday cake. Nice atmosphere too.

A busy pub, on a Wed evening, but having experienced their service & food I can understand why. Our waiter was Brett & his customer service throughout was friendly & helpful. A return visit (I don't live in Cardiff) is definitely on the cards 😊

Very very busy had to queue was mad only two staff on they cracked it fair play not many if any could have come out of it like they did still cracking service and food go guys you did it

Great service by all the staff there especially the lead lady on the door who managed to fit us in last minute and the food we had was cooked quickly and tasted great! Thank you as usual.

Following a critical email to the brewery 2022 (quality of the beer related, not the pub per se) I feel it only fair to compliment the staff (and management) on the quality of the customer service. It is friendly and refreshing this day and age and is particularly welcome with the age gap (being in my 70's) and to have younger staff members engage in casual conversation even for a short time while being served is just great. The fox is an asset to Whitchurch. The staff are always welcoming and go above and beyond to make our visit 10/10. Drinks are always up to top standard and the food hot and delicious. I will always come back here!

Very nice food and atmosphere. I did have to park five minutes away though but I don’t think you can do much about extending the car park. The food quality was excellent and the portion size was generous. Even though it was busy I did not wait long for my food and didn’t wait too long at the bar. Would like to go again, hopefully when it’s a little less busy.

Very busy there with a church choir having a pint before singing next door and also the added attraction of 30% off main meals. Despite the large numbers there, the staff were extremely efficient and happy in their job. The beer was very good and mixed grill cooked to my liking. The chips were On the cool dude but therefore quickly changed by the manager so no wait. A very enjoyable night and I'm sure the staff slept very well after all their hard work.

After what seems a long wait the fryer was back in work. The fish was delicious - even more so with the 30% discount. Great meal, but at full price is too expensive fir eating out on a regular basis...

6 of us had Sunday lunch there today and I was pleasantly surprised. Turkey and beef dinners were really nice. Apple crumble the best I have ever had. The service was excellent

Lovely atmosphere, the best gammon I’ve ever eaten, absolutely delicious. My husband had cod and said the batter was great and the fish tasted very fresh. Will definitely return to have the gammon again.

Nice cosy restaurant, family and dog friendly, didn’t get to have our first choice in meals as they weren’t available at the time however I cannot fault the food we chose instead, my partner had gammon which was a good size, I had the steak and ale pie which was absolutely gorgeous! All 3 kids had a decent size meal for the price. I live around 45 mins from Cardiff however I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again if I were in the area.

Always welcomed by staff on arrival, especially Mike, Zoe & Kieran, are always welcoming. Had the pleasure of meeting Todd yesterday also! 🐶 - food is always prepared well and always piping hot. Always served within a timely manner, Tom came back to check all was ok which it was. Pub has a very good atmosphere at all times whether it’s lunch, or a busy Friday night. Would definitely recommend!

Shame there's not a good vegetarian menu.

Lovely, on my last day before moving from Whitchurch, to sit in a beer garden full of lovely September sun, in a garden full of adults and kids playing at the end of their week x

Friendly and good bar/ waiting staff and manager. Sunday dinners lacked veg ! 2 pieces of carrot and spoon full of red cabbage. Frozen awful roast potatoes.No one came to table to ask if all ok. No mustard available. Good atmosphere in and outside pub. But Sunday dinners not worth over £13 ! Go to an independent venue for sunday dinner or just stick to burger+chips !!

The staff are very friendly and helpful, good choice on the menu especially the childrens menu and reasonably priced. The childrens play area is nice and tidy and it’s nice that it is dog friendly. Food is always very nice and arrives quickly

Been to the Fox & Hounds before we have always enjoyed it there and the food is good

Came here for lunch today and was a little apprehensive as we had never been and had family friends visiting from a long ways away. We were greeted by warm welcoming staff who gave us a choice of seating positions even though there were seven of us and a big group making sure that we were seated in a lovely spot. We sat by the back door which was open and we were asked if this was ok which it was, it’s been muggy so it was nice and cool. There is a good choice on the menu, and the childrens menu has a lot of variety, not just the usual chicken nuggets and chips and sausage. My son wanted the korma which had run out so was offered the adults tikka at child’s price, he loved it! Everyone enjoyed their starters, mains and deserts which all came out promptly and all together. The waitresses and bar staff were all super helpful and friendly, I don’t fault a thing and will be returning soon with a some more family who will be bringing their dog as it is doggo friendly too. Thanks fox and hounds for a very nice afternoon.

Just had lunch here today, very disappointed mixed grill meat was very dry , the meat pie was very fatty . We have had good meals here in the past . So I don't know what happened today but I won't be taking my family to fox and hounds again . !!

As a party we were at the fox and hounds a lot longer than than the times offered on the feedback form. Friendly staff, excellent table service, really good meal and an overall great atmosphere in the pub. I would most definitely come again.

A really nice pub with plenty of space. There was no wait at the bar and the barman was polite and friendly too. The car parks big and free. They serve a nice pint and the food is better than you would get in a weatherspoons. I will definitely visit again.

Attentive staff. Well cooked and presented food. acoustic were such that children’s noise and guests chatting were amplified ie noisy!!

Have been here a couple of times lately. The food served on both occasions was lovely. The service from staff is great - the environment is relaxed and friendly. It is reasonably priced. Lovely outdoor area too.

I had a trip to the pub as an end of season meal with my girls u14 football team and their parents. 30 persons in total. The staff sectioned off a complete area to keep us all together as we had trophy presentations to do...

Very friendly staff and lovely food.

Vegan options are absolutely pathetic. You don’t have a vegan burger. It’s chilli or curry - without the naan but for the same price as with the naan. It’s 2023, the planet is on fire and you’re serving up almost every dish with fish, meat or animal excretions. But no plastic straws. Do you realise how pathetic that is? There are better vegan options in supermarket cafes!

Great beer garden, it's a shame the pub has become more food based as it's lost a bit of character, but still great on a summers evening

Friday lunch at this friendly pub. Scampi, peas & chips, plus a cauliflower curry were both enjoyed. As always, there was a good welcome from staff, and a nice atmosphere.

We were looking for a pub that did a good solid Sunday lunch with a range of veggie options and a choice to keep a picky eater kid happy too! The menu did not disappoint - so much choice and huge portions of sunday lunch. The roast potatoes were the best I think I have ever eaten - so fluffy inside. The staff were very accommodating in bringing my daughter a Yorkshire pudding on it's own plate untainted by gravy! The waiting staff were attentive and prompt and brought extra gravy for us when we asked. We were also pleasantly surprised that it was dog friendly and all the staff were so helpful and lovely. We will definitely be back.

Food was expensive for what it is don't recommend being seated by garden doors hard to eat food with second hand smoke, tables were sticky, too many children knocking into you

Unfortunately not a very good review booked for ten People on 6th April for 79th birthday lunchtime meal. After waiting quite a long time food arrived except for the child's meal, as the child has disability issues. Her meal came about 10 minutes after the adults meals which caused her to be quite upset, so we had to try and pacify her whilst waiting. However when her meal arrived as with all of them overcooked .would I use this pub again don't think so very disappointed..
