Fox and Hounds in Hart

We celebrated 18th birthday with a roast. There were 14 of us including a toddler. The staff were amazing and made sure we had everything we wanted. The roast beef was amazing as was the chicken, pork and vegetarian nut roasts. In particular the vegetables were freshly prepared and plentiful. Thank you for a meal to remember.

This place was recommended to me by a friend a couple of years ago. It has a lovely warm atmosphere and I always receive a friendly welcome each time I have visited. It has a lovely seated area outside in the summer, next to the canal. Great for when you take the family with you. There is a climbing frame and slide for the young ones. They offer table service inside but you can order at the bar if sitting outside. Lunch from 12pm - 2pm but they remain open through the afternoon for drinks. Great if you are sitting out in the sun watching the world pass by on the canal. All the food we have tried has been amazing....Burgers, Pies, Fish and Sandwiches. The jacket potatoes look and taste amazing! The best jacket potato around! Dessert isn't something I would usually have but their Cheesecake is to die for 👌 Highly recommended eating at the Fox & Hounds.

We had not been to the Fox & Hounds since before covid. But a neighbour recommended it. Absolutely thrilled we have rediscovered it. Both myself & my friend can only eat small portions. We were told about the childrens menu and it was absolutely amazing. Our partners had the main course and all 4 meals were exceptional. Thoroughly recommend and also a big thank you to the staff, well done everyone. It is adviseable to book.

Had never been able to get a table at the Fox and Hounds before and now I know why. Best roast in Fleet by miles- perfectly cooked and a very generous portion. Beautiful location backing on to the canal and really friendly staff. Will be back soon for sure.

Fantastic Sunday lunch at the Fox & Hounds today. We had been trying to book here for a couple of weeks and they were always fully booked but they finally managed to squeeze us in and so very glad they did. This was without doubt the best pub Sunday lunch I have ever had, we had the roast beef which was superb, perfectly cooked with a great selection of veg and a spectacular yorkshire pudding, followed by apple crumble - couldn't fault any of it.

Was recommended here ages ago and finally had a meal. Literally the best pub meal I’ve ever had! Scampi was amazing as were the chips. Hubby and friend enjoyed their steaks too. Nice quiet corner to eat in. Highly recommend.

As a family we regularly visit for a meal. The food and staff are without doubt the best around...however on the evening of our vist there were at least five dogs inside the the pub,two in the restaurant.I like dogs and have been a dog owner but what I dont want to see is a dog sprawled out with it's back end facing me when I am eating, I had to move seats,also a couple behind me had their dog on their lap feeding it from a plate,it was then placed in a chair with it's paws on the table..not withstanding the health & Safety issue I think it is totally disrepectful to other groups eating and to the staff that have to clean up after they have gone! I personally think dogs should not be allowed where people are eating,but I suppose that's down to the owner. At the very minimum,dogs should be left outside away from guests having s meal..This is to dog owners in general..some people believe it or not,don't like dogs. I e-mailed the pub about this but so far no response...kindly keep dogs out of the restaurant. Many thanks

Went on Sunday evening ,.table booked for 6 pm...5 of us plus a dog. Had a table inside...service was excellent and friendly...we had the roast pork..roast beef .steak pie..Thai chicken burger and halloumi burger and some side dishes....I never order a roast out because I prefer my own roast but I fancied the belly of pork and I wasn't disappointed...couldn't fault anything on the plate. .it was almost like I had cooked it myself!!!!! All the meals were excellent ....can't wait to eat there again. Well done to the team!!!!

Eight of us went for a celebratory meal on Sunday. 5 Roast Beef, 1 Meat Pie, 1 Fish & Chips and 1 Burger & Chips. We all praised the meals. The Beef was cooked exactly as individually requested. The Meat Pie was rated the best ever, as were the Fish and Burger. The Chips were amazing, chunky and very tasty. Portions were very large and the service exemplary. No wonder The Fox & Hounds has a very good reputation and is always busy, so booking is advised.

Booked our normal quarterly family lunch/dinner here and this time shown to arguably the best table in the house Service good, drinks orders taken and served and food orders taken. Everything was spot on including the wonderful Roast Sirloin of beef. Not sure how but we had room for desserts and this is where the great consistency in the visit fell apart. Two of us ordered the “Crumble of the Day” at £6:50 a pop. What arrived can only be described as a very small apple tart with enough custard in the jar to serve 10 of the portions. Pointed out to the waitress that we found the 2 desserts to be very small in both size and value and could she mention it to either the kitchen or landlord As the landlord walked past our table 10 minutes later to change a barrel it was obvious that she did not pass on our comments, although she said she did when she brought the bill. No deduction made for the poor value desserts. We will go again no doubt as this was not the norm but hope it doesn’t repeat itself.

By far the Best and Only pub in Fleet, lovely atmosphere, warm welcome from Caroline & Graham, nice to see Courage Best on drag up,, its been a long time since our local in Hartley Wintney had that. Really lovely freshly cooked food and a stunning scenery by the canal to relax. Great Food, Good Beer, Nice Hospitality, Clean Pub , Great views, what more could anyone ask. Never heard a negative report about this establishment and its always busy, restaurant always full. Doesn,t that tell you something. These guys are doing it right. Hope to return real soon. Thank you, Thank You, Oh PS, almost forgot and very important.. Beer (Hand pump) was crystal clear and top notch condition. Not bad for a landlord who does not drink it. Thats the key. We had lunch here after having a drink in the past and seeing how good the food looked.Although it was drizzling we were keen to sit outside with covid. There was a big marquee in the back with about 10 picnic benches in the dry. We had a beef and ale pie and scampi and chips. Both meals were very tasty. The pub garden is large and nicely situated next to the canal so a large meal can be walked off.The covid precautions were good with a one way system, alcohol hand wash, track and trace etc.

We cycled along the Basingstoke Canal to reach the Fox & Hounds. It was a sunny day and we had a lovely lunch break there, regardless of the extra infection control measures that are in place.This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. The food was lovely and my Daughter commented that her cheese and bacon burger was the the best burger she had ever had in her lifetime. All of the staff were very nice to us and they seemed happy in their jobs, which all helped to create the perfect atmosphere for a sunny Saturday break.Thanks Fox & Hounds, see you soon...

Pre-booked table for 3 by phone. Absolutely wonderful helpful caring reassuring staff. Hand sanitizer at door. Write name and contact no on slip of paper. Social distancing in place with adjoining table empty. Marquee out back near canal for drinkers. We had a meal inside, served by staff on a tray for us to remove. Card payment. Didn’t use the loo but noticed markers on the floor for movement around safely distancing. Throughout lockdown I saw continuous cleaning, decorating, repairing and maintaining of property ready for re-launching. I will booking again to drag more family out of the dulldrums!! Had no cash for a tip but would happily have paid a service charge to support them. Well done everyone!

We took eight very good friends for lunch on March 1st. We had a great time, the food was excellent and the staff were extreamly attentive, making the whole experience every thing we hoped it would be.I have no hesitation in recommending the Fox & Hounds. Make sure you book well in advance, its very popular.

If you want good home cooked food and good portions and value for money this is the place to eat .The staff make you feel welcome been here about 3 times if in the area will defiantly come back here for dinner.

Came here just after Christmas for a large family gathering, impressed by the service, food and consideration for our large group, our table had been organised in advance and the staff were very friendly and considerate.

Impromptu lunch for four. Super service. Delightful food. 2 mushroom burgers, one sausage and mash, 1 beef chilli. Not a crumb left on plate, it was so delicious. 2 yummy puddings, orange cake with ice cream and Oe pecan maple cheesecake with ice cream. 2 quality coffees. Cannot praise enough. And very good value to boot.

This pub/restaurant is a hard one to beat as the food is very good. The only criticism is that the portions are just huge. A good choice of proper pub food that you can tell has all been freshly cooked. Service is good and you feel like you are in a proper pub that doesn't have all the pretence of trying to be gastro. We look forward to trying it in the Summer when you can sit by the canal.

You go to the Fox and Hounds for one reason only and that's their homemade steak pie. Ir's so good you forget about any bad bits about the place.

Arrived just after 12 on a Friday lunchtime and the car park was full which is always a good sign. The restaurant was full so we decided to take lunch in the pub.

Took visitors here on the off chance. Fantastic food .... gorgeous chips! Sampled tasty ham egg and chips, sausage and mash, steak pie. Good tasty food and ample portions reasonably priced. Random visit then went back again and wasn’t disappointed. Fantastic both times. Friendly welcoming staff. Pub by the canal, beautiful in the summer. Thoroughly recommended.

As always really tasty. Choice of meats, Nice and hot. Good portion size. Tastes like a home cooked Sunday lunch. You can chose the Sunday lunch menu, off the specials board or from the standard menu. We will be returning soon xx

Five hungry people arrive at 13.54 having dashed to get there because they start serving at 14.00; what is it with English eateries that you can’t lunch after 14.00; don’t they ever go on holiday to Europe?

Went on Friday for a meal. Chose the stuffed plaice. Was absolutely delicious. Good size portions and very competitive pricing. My favourite local eatery, never had a bad meal there. Friendly staff. Will be back soon
