A lovely pub discovered at the Odiham end of the Basingstoke Canal. The lady behind the bar was very friendly, and the service was faultless. I can recommend the pork belly, and the treacle tart for dessert. The specials all looked good as well. We will definitely go back again.

Sunday lunch and nothing’s changed, thank God. A great welcome from Mandy and the team. Delicious lunch, although a fraction disappointed to be offered turkey in October. We were a group of ten and those who had it said it was excellent. My beef was lovely, tender and nicely rare. Fantastic potatoes and nice selection of vegetables. Ate too much. Puddings scrumptious looking, too much for me - I ordered the waffle and was defeated - would have welcomed something light and lemony. My friends loved the apple and quince crumble. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this real neighbourhood inn, run by a lovely family. I wish I lived closer. I can’t wait to go back. Next time please put that gorgeous belly of pork on the menu and also Chris’s Mum’s treacle tart which I still remember with nostalgia.

We stayed here last night, as we needed to be at the nearby Candover clinic for an AM appointment. We arrived late in the torrential rain. We were served straight away but a lovely, helpful lad who couldn't have done enough for us. As is a condition of using the facilities for an overnight stay, we gladly ordered some food. The fish & chips are absolutely delicious, without a doubt the best bit of battered cod I've had in a long time! Sadly, we had to head off early. We were happily listening & watching the wealth of wildlife that is within the vicinity, we will be back again for a more leisurely visit so we can fully enjoy & explore the area! # I forgot to add this was our first pub stopover (we usually wild camp or book a site) & we find it via The Campervan Bible.

Real good venue, with friendly staff and a great menu. Rather than have main courses we shared the pigs in blankets and the warm brie & bread dishes from the starter menu and had a side of chips. Both were a nice size for lunch and we're delicious.

Dropped in as part of a walk along The Basingstoke Canal. Only wanted a drink and a bag of nuts. Both were supplied. Hardly the most welcoming atmosphere (the 'hail fellow, well-met' that you hope for in every new pub) but it wasn't down right hostile. Just a bit flat. Had hoped for more. Pub is fine in a spartan locals' boozer sort of way.

Always enjoyed coming to this pub in the past ,but our visit after a gap of 18 months was hugely disappointing. The menu was a set price regardless of content ,.We chose the burger ,which was tasty but arrived looking very basic and under whelming, no relish no fried onions ,any additions cost extra ,the accompanying salad was all shredded to bits with a small cherry tomatoes cut in half. Deserts were expensive ,£9 for a basic chocolate brownie . Such a shame as it used to be great value here ,we appreciate that country pubs are struggling but it's off putting to increase prices and offer less ,the prices didnt match the venue or the quality ,quantity and presentation . Other pubs we visit have also marked up the prices on their menus which we are happy to pay because its worth it ,but sorry not so here.

We had a lovely 5 star meal here a couple of years ago as part of the Eat Out to Help Out (EOHO) campaign, so our hopes were high. Some parts of this visit were very good and some were very bad. First the good. The children’s playground is excellent and was much appreciated by our grandchildren. The Sunday roast beef was cooked perfectly ; the vegan options very good and the treacle tart was first rate. Now the not so good. The spare ribs were awful: full of joints and knuckles. Our son ordered alcohol-free beer and was brought a normal beer. Service was slow. On a separate point, during EOHO, the pub had a large marquee in the garden, adjacent to the children’s play area. It would have been good if this was still there: sun umbrellas don’t provide the same protection against the sun.

A Great honest and friendly pub. Good beer and great good honest food. Gets very busy. We used the camping field for a weekend stopover in our Motorhome. The pub offers a level grass field with a outside toilet open 24/7, water point is available. Currently the cost for overnight camping is free but you are required to book a meal and eat in the pub. It is perfectly located just off the M3 for lovely canal walks and a 30 min walk into Odiham village. For us we found the pub and camping field a pleasure, the staff and the Landlady Chris were lovely, the locals are great to chat with. Good beers and good honest food. We will certainly be back again. Thanks Chris

I spent the morning online looking for a pub to visit in the afternoon and stumbled across this one so we jumped in the car to try it out. We initially drove past the entrance to the car park as the pub is on a bend. Big car park, plenty of space but it is the middle of the play park and the pub. We sat opposite the bar, away from the fire place. Inside the pub is quite small and we didn't recieve a very warm welcome but hey we all have bad days! We all went with baguettes off of the lunch menu which were great. We did fancy dessert but sadly couldn't justify it being the same price as our lunch. We would return again.

Looked like a lovely pub. Perfect village feel. They offer pitches for campervans and theres a good size car park and marquee to sit under. We were a group of 13 and had called ahead the day before. Told no need to book as there was plenty of space. Such a shame the lady who served us (i presume the lady) was unfriendly, unwelcoming, and inhospitable. It was our fault she was short of glasses and even talking negatively about us to regulars at the bar knowing we were in earshot. Shame. Because the beer was good, the food was good and served in pretty good time for all that complaining. So, by all means give it a go but brace yourself for the Basil Fawlty treatment. I won’t be going back. I’ll take my custom to a different local village pub who actually wants the business.
