Four Points Inn in Reading

We have visited many times and have never been disappointed. We usually have the two course set lunch. Fish and chips, Gammon and chips, Bread and Butter Pudding and Crème Brûlée. Definitely Book so as not to be disappointed. Highly Recommend

What a really lovely place to visit for Sunday Lunch. They were almost fully booked for the Sunday that we wanted to visit as a party of seven but with some juggling around they were able to accommodate us. The pub is lovely, the staff are great, the food is really good quality and tests fresh and local with very generous helpings and a wide selection of options for starters, mains and desserts with a good selection of Gluten Free and Vegetarian options. We found the set menu Sunday Lunch options to be good value for money.

We went in today for lunch and it will definitely be the last time ever. So basically we decided to order the two course lunch meal my brother ordered the gammon and we decided to order the soup aswell as we had my 21 month baby so we decided he could eat the soup and my brother will eat what is left as he doesn't eat alot. The manager basically sent the waitress over to say my 21 month son had to order the adult soup because he is a different person to my brother!!!! So she was basically saying that he could not have the soup as a set menu as that is for my brother only! Like what the hell! She then agreed that they could share the soup but it's only coming out as a starter so therefore she was basically saying If my son is sharing the soup he can eat alone! I am not sure if this woman had a bad day or stressful Christmas but this is no way to treat customers. I was having a meal for £14.95 so we were spending over £30 so I am not sure why she is being so funny over some soup. She was trying to force us to buy a children's meal for £8.00 but my son can not eat that for lunch and this menu is up to 12 years. We took my son out the baby chair which upset him. 2 other customers came up to us and said they understood from our point of view and didn't understand why the manager was being funny about some soup. They said we should not be forced to pay for a kids meal or adult soup for a young toddler. In the end the experience was a Godsend as we had the most amazing meal at the Hare and the Hounds and they could not have been more lovely. They gave my son a kids pack and made us feel so welcome! My son got his soup and they were happy to make him a kids size at a reduced price thank god not every pub is just greedy! Happy ending in the end!

We’ve been to the Four Points many times and it’s our favourite place for an evening meal. The food is excellent along with the service, we’re always greeted with a very warm welcome. It’s a cosy, local atmosphere with a fireplace at one end. One thing to be aware of is that the portions are big - save room for pudding if you can!

Excellent pub. Great home cooked food and large portions. Very friendly staff. A hidden Berkshire gem off the beaten track but well worth finding.

We came here to meet family before going to the nearby Basildon Park National Trust estate. We didn't book and sat outside which was no problem for the staff but the pub did fill up pretty quickly after we ordered - it's popular. Very quiet location on its own in the countryside. They get the full 5 stars as the food was hands down the best pub food we have had in years and the staff were friendly. The hunters chicken was brilliant and my wife had the Cajun burger which she loved. I would only say it might be best to book or call ahead as it's popular and for good reason.

Having driven past so many times, this attractive Coaching Inn was one we’ve always wanted to visit. After a friendly welcoming phone call to book a table for Sunday, I knew all should be well. Went for the Sunday Roast and it was so lovely, with generous portions. I like you can also eat off there regular menu if you wish, which is vast! Will definitely be back and not just to wave at when passing again, thanks 😀

Beautiful country pub situated in a lovely setting. We went for the light lunch menu with starter and main. The food was fresh and tasty and brought to the table in good time. All round great experience of service, food and prices.

We came across this treasure just by chance -it was charming with lovely flower displays outside !-We ordered a drink each & food starters of prawn cocktail & pate - mains of sausage & mash with onion gravy & Caesar salad -It was beautifully prepared, plentiful ,& tasty , - and not overpriced ! Served by courteous & pleasant young ladies .Thank you for restoring our faith in the great British pub -we shall return !

If you are looking for great value food in a friendly atmosphere then this is the place to go. Service was swift and the portion size excellent

Visited early on a Saturday evening for a birthday meal, 2 adults & 2 teenagers. Food was delicious, big portions and great quality. Lovely friendly staff. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning! We booked a table in advance and would think you’d need to especially at busy times

We called in for a light lunch when passing by to visit relatives locally. Parking was easy and service was quick and friendly. We had Lasagne and also Omelette with Chips - great value at £7 -95 each and a very well kept pint of 'Loose Cannon' complemented the food very well. We will certainly return when passing by!

This is not a gastro pub but somewhere doing their best to serve quality, enjoyable food in a pleasant atmosphere. And they succeed admirably! The waiting staff are very attentive and charming and the food...very tasty, good portions and not hideously priced. We definitely can recommend this place but best to book as it is very popular.

We were a large party that were well catered for. The welcome was warm and friendly, drinks were served quickly and our preordered food arrived soon after. I have been here time and time again, with partners, family, friends and everything in between. I don't thi k there is a better value place to eat in the entirety of Berkshire.
