The best chippy in Ayr and surrounding area. Top quality fish, great friendly professional staff and always consistent. I wouldn't go anywhere else and I've regretted the odd time I did. It's as clean as a sweetie so well laid out, spotless as are all the staff. This plaice lol is owned by someone who really cares

The man who handed over food was such a happy man, lifted the spirits of people. Everyone was greeted with a smile and thanked. I had to say to him when he served me, I had listened to him serving everyone in front of me and seen them smile as they left. Could see it made such a difference to them and myself

Great place for fish and chips takeaways. The service is very quick annd excellent quality of products.

Nice and clean good staff food cooked when ordered 2 small fish makes a large and a whole smoked sausage as opposed to a half will need another visit as after I had been my friend who recommended it said you should have tried the home made steak pie so next time

Had to wait 25mins as woman in front didn't understand ordering system,and I also ordered a burger which was made from scratch and was hot and delish,fritters were disappointing as they had been in top hotplate the whole time I waited and were cold and greasy,despite me asking for hot ones at counter, and I could clearly see fresh ones just made,chips were also nice and hot,would definitely visit again,minus the fritters, unless I see they are fresh out of the pan. Overall a great selection of lovely food.

Good place to eat, fair prices for good food and large enough portions. Have now been going here for years now and never had a bad meal. Better variety on the menu, and good vegetarian options too.

Visited this establishment for the second time in 2 weeks for an ice cream treat. Last week we got a good scoop and a bit in our Oyster at a cost of £2.90 which I didn't mind paying. Today we got one small scoop which hardly filled the oyster. Back to McDonald's for a value for money McFlurry for us in the future. I hate greed!

Queuing system chaotic making social distancing difficult .phone customers are given priority over the customers waiting outside for their orders so when you receive a chit with your order number it is completely useless .as for the fish supper I received it was average to say the least

Got a chippy last night, chips were cold, carton of peas were even colder, sausage wasn't much warmer but the gravy was awrite. It'll be a while before I'm back, disappointing cause it's normally so good 🤔

Found this in a newspaper article and it didn’t disappoint us. Had both breaded and battered angel cut and both were terrific. Cooked to order. Spotlessly clean and well run

It's a top drawer chippy always freshly cooked. Both the fish & homemade steak pie are smashing I wouldn't go anywhere else in Ayr 💯👌

Went to this chippy while campervanning at the Caravan Club site. Excellent service and quality of food was good( no soggy batter). We had a fish supper with Haggis sides cos we are fat!!😃. Good price as well. Well worth a visit.👍

Came here based on good reviews saying ‘traditional’ fish & chips expecting good things. Can only say whoever thinks that has never had a decent chippy before. The only good thing was the chips. the fish was edible but soggy and full of bones and the mushy peas were totally tasteless. My boyfriend said his haggis was good. The worst thing is the girl who takes the orders totally rude and looks at you like you are a bit of dirt totally unacceptable. The other guy was friendly enough but she has a horrible attitude. Won’t be back unfortunately too many other places to go with hopefully much better service

This is my local chip shop, I've been going to it since I was a kid. The food has always been amazing. People come from all over Ayrshire its so good. It's one of the best chippy's in the UK. If you come to Ayr you have to try it. Best chips in Ayrshire.

Absolutely amazing food but bad atmosphere. Staff need to learn to be nicer. Only thing stopping me from going back is the rude staff :(

Been told about the Forehill cafe so gave it a go. Called in about 7 in the evening, plenty of parking outside but may have been lucky with the time as it sits between a couple of shops and a betting shop. Nice and clean inside with well displayed food options and prices and the ice cream selection looked fabulous which will try on another visit as this was just a chip shop run. Wife chose a sausage supper with myself picking the burger meal.Both well cooked and very hot as chips were straight out the fryer! Burger was lovely with a nice salad and cooked onions on top of a well cooked and juicy patty. Will definitely use again when in the area!!Not sure if prices are correct on the menu photos I've provided so please don't take as gospel but a good guide line. ( especially the ice cream prices )

I am visiting Ayr and looked online for gluten free fish and chips places and came across the cafe website. They do gluten free options each Thursday between 4 and 8pm. My goodness the fish was delicious, batter beautifully crispy and plenty of chips. One very happy coeliac, thank you

Lovely chippe food great the only problem is that they don't deliver now which is a shame for pensioners, hopefully they will rethink about it again and deliver again

I went and got a fish supper and it was swimming in fat. The food was unedible the king rib we got the fat was dripping out of it will never be back The chips were black and green this is a health hazzard it should be called a heart attack supper Plus we were the first in and the last to get our food

Just had a large fish supper!, absolutely fantastic. Fresh flaky Haddock, crispy battery and loads of chips all cooked to perfection and not oily at all. Will be a regular now 👍

Really friendly staff. Very clean facilities. They have mastered the art of cooking fish & chips. Didn't get a chance to try the ice cream, but it also looks amazing.

my wife and I had a fish supper and was disgusting, batter on fish was soft - not crispy at all and greasy. Fillet looks like cut in half and put in batter. Worst fish n chips I ever had.

Got a fish supper from this cafe last week. Do not ever get salt or vinegar added in shop as it stays crispy till u get home. Not this time as batter was very soggy and fish was of poor quality. Ate first fish and second went into food bin. Use to be a good cafe gone badly down hill. Staff fail even to say please or thank you at the till. Lack of interest in customer and in quality of product. Shame.

Waited 40 minutes for a half pizza and chips only to see the next customer get what i was told was sold out and my chips to be half cooked . Thank for nothing wont be back .

I have been going to this chip shop for years and wouldn’t go anywhere else! The fish is beautiful, always cooked to perfection and would highly recommend it! The place is always busy, and is very popular! The staff are friendly and there customer service is 2nd to none! Well done forehill cafe! I can’t recommend you enough!

First gluten free fish super tonight from Forehill cafe, absolutely delicious couldn't fault it at all.

Forehill cafe is very popular and fish and chips really good.While waiting in queue,I was shocked to watch a young male assistant wearing latex gloves put his finger into his ear for a few seconds then open plastic box of grated cheese and with same finger lift cheese from box and spread over chips in a box.

It was nice all was is but girl at counter you ask for a lot salt & vinerger and when you go to eat it there nothing on it

Best fish and chips and mushy peas worth the drive

Excellent chip shop - been going here 15 years as have my family. The food is ALWAYS first class and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Most of them have worked there for many years. The manager monitors the quality closely - alway asking “how was your food last time”. He is very particular and should be commended for his efforts. Staff who are passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic about what they do are hard to find. You will however find them at Forehill Cafe. Five stars.
