great food, very good beer , how a local pub should be, if all pubs were like this one the world would be a merry place. do i eat and drink here, absolutely, xxx

We were staying locally and visited the Britannia this evening having seen the other positive reviews. We're so glad we did. I phoned ahead to check it was dog friendly and we were told we would be fine and that there would be another dog in. We had the deep fried halloumi as a starter. This was amazing. Made fresh and all odd shapes with a nice chilli dip. Mains were the nachos, cauliflower and pepper curry and a Turkish chicken kebab. They were all amazing. Although full we had to try the dessert. Apple and rhubarb crumle and a oreo cheesecake. These just about finished us off and we waddled out the door. The staff and other customers were amazing. Very welcoming and friendly. We felt we were part of the community for the duration. The prices were all very reasonable. Our daughter works in a restaurant with a similar menu and she commented on what good quality and value this was. Ourndog had a great time too. Staff and customers made a good fuss of her, playing to her already massive ego. We will be back.

Having read the 1 star review complaining about the sprinklers not being removed I felt compelled to write. Please let me explain!! Sprinklers are in place in Northern pubs to enhance the beer and make everything about a classic British Ale look it's best. Also, because of food and drink standards the sprinklers shouldn't be touched as the pump goes into a fresh glass reducing the risk of cross contamination. The sprinklers are soaked in a cleaning agent for approximately 16 hours over night. They cannot keep being removed and cleaned at the request of the odd drinker. If you want to experience the flat sprinkerless ale Southerners drink I suggest you go to London. By the way, I ate there on Sunday with friends and it was superb. The locals were extremely friendly and the staff couldn't have done enough on what was a very busy evening.

Food is A1. Beer is very good. Owners will go the extra mile for you. If every pub was like this one the world would be a better place. Wish I lived closer. 10 out of 10. Keep up the good work.

For those beer drinkers who like their beer to be served without the use of a sprinkler/sparkler, this pub is not allowed to remove them for some reason.

I have to admit, I'm a bit of a regular here (for transparency), but honestly I if you like a spicy pizza, the Mr Etna is absolutely the best I've ever had, anywhere. Ali & Steve are superb hosts. The beer's great, the food's great, the crack is excellent.

Great service from Annette, Steve and Tom. Serving top quality Beers on draught and on Thurs -Saturday, excellent pub food with ever changing specials. its a short walk from Greenodd and the locals are very friendly. They also welcome well behaved dogs.

The Britannia Inn is a gem. A local pub that welcomes tourists (like us) as if they are family. Excellent food and friendly atmosphere with good service. They are dog and family friendly. Only reason for not giving the 5th star is the vegetarian options are limited.

First time back at the Brit since reopening after lockdown and again a first class experience. All Covid precautions in place with very friendly staff. Food was great as usual and just nice to see small country pubs like the Brit still in business after an exceptionally difficult time for the hospitality sector. Looking forward to going back very soon

Just bought a cottage a few doors up from. the Britannia and wanted to try the take out menu after lots of people recommended it. Well we were not disappointed. Absolutely gorgeous, tasty, home made food. We had the king prawn salt and pepper and the locally sourced hot dog. Thank you Britannia pub👍

Britania are offering takeaways for 2 nights per week ,nice varied menu . we chose 6 different dishes all were excellent apart from the chips(do not travel well) but im sure you could swap for rice which was good. check their website for menu.

I would absolutely recommend this pub.. The food is amazing++ & the staff is extremely friendly. Ohh, a small note : it is a family run pub, so you feel at home.. Happiness guaranteed:))

Stunning food, great staff, highly recommended. The salt and pepper chicken was incredible. We even had dessert, which was a surprise, as the portion size for main were massive, so didn’t think would have space for dessert. The pizzas are fantastic as well, we will definitely be back often! Another bonus was the board game cupboard as meant our little one loves the place too!

Punches above its weight. great range of food always cooked well and tasty too. something to suit all tastes. includes salads. burgers, steaks, pizzas and a range of specials. Staff are helpful and friendly too.

We went here tonight the owner was lovely and got us booked in straight away. It's a cute small country pub the food is amazing one of the best meals iv had. I had the stuffed chicken..husband had the steak it was huge! Brilliant value for money. The puddings are massive and really really good. Had the sticky toffee pudding husband and kids had chocolate pud. Great range of gin. Friendly owner and waitress would highly recommend thankyou for a lovely meal on the last night of our holiday Louise xx

After a day out climbing and walking this pub provided us with some much needed calories. It’s set in the heart of Penny Bridge and is a proper pub run by real people who actually care about their guests. The staff were consistently friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. The menu is a range of dishes, the focus being the pizza and the specials. The food is of excellent quality and the portions generous. The critical factor is the price- where others of lesser worth charge a fortune based on the hyperbole of their descriptions, here we have 12.50 for steak and 10 for burgers that are described as such and taste all the better for it. If you are heading anywhere or coming back on Thursdays to Sundays after 1630, then this should be where you eat. Dog friendly, lots of parking, children welcome. A sublime choice amongst the pretentious rubbish that has befallen too many Lake District pubs.

Stayed about 100 yards from here for 2 nights. Went for a meal on first night (2 adults, 3 kids) which was outstanding for a pub meal. My Wife's steak was huge, tender and perfectly cooked. The beer was in good condition and the service was second to none.If you are staying in the area I would strongly recommend a visit to this pub.

What a lovely place to eat and drink. Excellent food good size portions great staff really welcoming very friendly. Waitress exceptional would highly recommend

The Britannia is one of those pubs that every village should have - family run with great beer and food and always a warm welcome. If you are in the area, I can’t recommend it enough.

En el área para un descanso de 4 noches con nuestro cachorro de 7 meses, pedimos un par de noches para tomar una copa y 1 noche para una comida. Las 3 veces que visitamos nos recibieron tanto el personal como los clientes. El Guinness fue fabuloso según mi esposo. La comida era fabulosa y una excelente relación calidad-precio. Es una pena que vivamos 2 horas y media por trayecto o seríamos visitantes regulares. Recomendaría a cualquiera en la zona para comer aquí

Pequeño pueblo y pequeño pub, pero desde el jueves por la noche hasta el domingo, la mesa de billar, etc. se hace a un lado, las mesas se extienden y es un gran restaurante que sirve un menú limitado de comida casera y auténticas papas fritas, pasteles, pizza (con un nombre como el de God's Asignación que no pude resistir. Su corazón se calentará con la amabilidad de los propietarios, el personal y los clientes. Sentí que era la verdadera hospitalidad de Cumbria con las personas a quienes les importaba. Volvimos a la noche siguiente también!

Cosy village pub with 2 open fires offering a warm and friendly welcome from the lovely proprietors. Great ever changing food menu popular with locals and tourists alike (handmade pizzas are to die for)! Well kept Real Ale and a decent Gin selection. Monthly fun pub quiz and all the usual village pub events throughout the year. If you haven’t tried this place you must scout it out! PS well behaved dogs and children welcome too

He comido aquí un par de veces. Muy buen valor, menú siempre cambiante y modernizante. Fantásticas pizzas y sorprendentes curries caseros. Mi compañero comió la hamburguesa de ternera hecha en casa (la médula ósea se mezcló con la mezcla para hacerla más jugosa).

Excelente comida en varias ocasiones. Pizza, pastel, sal pimienta pollo / langostinos, hamburguesa británica y excelente curry. Los giros imaginativos en las pizzas son grandes. No puedo esperar a probar los mejillones. Siempre obtenga una recepción amistosa del propietario y bebedores regulares. Cervezas de verdad un trato y siempre bueno. No puedo esperar a la próxima comida del viernes con amigos que eligen del tablero de ofertas especiales.

Un pub modesto que, gracias a Dios, no pudo morir y se ha convertido realmente en parte de la comunidad del pueblo. Sirve muy buena comida con algunos platos muy diferentes a los de la comida normal de un pub, pero todos ellos tienen un precio muy competitivo y están respaldados por una buena variedad de cervezas y otras bebidas bien conservadas. Sin embargo, la comida no está disponible los 7 días de la semana.

Great little pub . Friendly staff and a wide choice of food on the menu . When served the food was brilliant .

This pub doesn't look much from the outside but once you step inside there is a warm and friendly welcome from the owners and the locals around the bar for both you and your furry friends. Food is good and wholesome. Pie is proper pie and the fish parcel was delicious, the tapas looked lovely and excellent value at £24 for 2 and the pizzas smelt yummy. Not many tables so if there are a few of you message the pub to book. My husband says the beer was well kept and a good selection. There is small car park behind the pub. Service was excellent and very friendly. Good value. We will definitely be returning.

One thing to recommend is the pizza here! Great chef and top flavour and nice pizza base. People have asked me about this place for food and I have recommended to go. I wiil continue to recommend this place for the food.

Went for my 70th with the family which my daughter arranged - without prompting birthday posters were put up around our table. good choices of food available all of which were very very good ranging from Ribs/home made pies/mousaka and gammon steaks. Very friendly staff-we will be back

We went in the pub for lunch and excellent real ales. The soft brown rolls with various fillings are very good. A great pub in a very pleasant setting

Alojarse en una casa en el puente de Spark, pasar el día en un largo paseo y necesitaba una buena comida en un ambiente acogedor. Lo conseguimos en el Brittania hasitate Inn y no recomendar a nadie. La pizza era de primera clase. Volveremos.

¡Qué lugar! ! ! Uno de los pubs más amable mientras he estado viviendo en Cumbria. El propietario y casera no podría haber sido más agradable si lo hubiese intentado y la gente era extremadamente calentamiento. Pequeño y acogedor, pero con un ambiente enorme. El chef también es oficialmente uno de los 5 mejores chefs pizza en el REINO UNIDO.

having lived in the locality for around 12 years, this pub has been shut down for most of that time - then 3ish years ago Steve and Ali took it on and brought it back to life.... they have been open now for just over 2 years and have put their hearts and souls into the pub. Always friendly and welcoming to all who come in, Steve keeps an excellent pint of hand-pulled real ale with old favourites and guest ales to suit all tastes, there is a real fire on chilly days and nights offering a further welcome, and you will almost always find a merry band of friendly 'locals' around the bar, ready for a chat. Ryan's food is always home made, and though at times the popularity of his food mean you may have to wait, when you get it, you know it has been made especially for you - his prize-winning pizzas are an almost weekly treat for us - and to die for......!

El Brit es un pub con excelente comida y cervezas bien cuidado. Los propietarios y el personal siempre es amable y ofrecen un gran servicio. El pub suele divertido noches disfrutadas por los lugareños y visitantes por igual. Pruébalo, no te arrepentirás!

Aparecimos aquí en nuestra última noche de mini vacaciones. Precioso hotel, acogedora chimenea, personal muy amable que nos dio una cálida bienvenida a su llegada. Nos observó, a partir de la noticia de que el chef recortes de alrededor es para un premio por la mejor pizza en el REINO UNIDO. Así que tuvimos que probarlo. a juzgar por el tamaño de las pizzas que vimos en las mesas al lado decidimos uno era suficiente entre 2. . Y fue mucho! Se sirve con una gran porción de patatas fritas y ensalada de col. Nuestra primera opción la fajitzza ya había vendido por desgracia, estas cosas pasan y fue incluso más evisceración que habíamos visto la última sirve en la mesa junto a nosotros! Así que nos fuimos para el rostro de salchichas. Qué gran pizza, claramente hechos desde cero hasta la base era excepcionalmente sabrosa. Ambos disfrutamos mucho. Nuestra única atención es que mucho amor y atención va a una pizza casera es una pena que las fichas no eran caseros para ir con ella.

A wonderful, friendly hotel with real log fires in winter, amazing food and nothing is too much bother. Im a fussy eater and hate coriander and they even remembered this when I visited twice in a fortnight.Definitely worth a visit. All food homemade, with burgers to die for!!!!

Stayed from the 26th to the 29th it was nice and quiet The rooms were clean and bright lovely hot water Breakfast was very good as was evening meal Needed a rest and got one

Staff very welcoming & food was delicious. Dogs welcome which is a bonus. We will definitely be returning in the future :-)

A really welcoming pub, which always has a number of real ales to choose from to accompany great food. The menu changes regularly and it is supplemented by a specials board. The enchiladas and steak were really tasty tonight and would definitely recommend.

Family meal, very friendly staff. The food was lovely. We chose 3 meals off the specails board and a pizza. All the meals were fab. Lovely atmosphere. We had a lovely meal out

Vinimos aquí para una comida de Navidad con un grupo de 10 amigos, Ryan abrió el pub especialmente para nosotros y teníamos el sitio para nosotros. Es una preciosa rústico y acogedor pub con cervezas apropiadas y es realmente encantador. No podíamos faltar a la comida. Los bistecs eran increíbles y la cena de Navidad era enorme y muy bien cocinados, precioso asado verduras y un montón de animales de la especie porcina mantas : - ). Incluso nos dieron algunos aperitivos gratuitos. el personal había ido a mucho esfuerzo para asegurarse de que teníamos una buena noche, el servicio era fantástico. Sin duda volveremos, gracias Ryan y su equipo!

Friendly and welcoming local free house with a selection of real ales. Relatively small menu which is no bad thing, the elongated pizza are excellent and served with homemade chips and coleslaw
