Very nice nd very good value for money definitely buy again...

Used the takeaway for fish and chips while visiting Cornwall. Seriously expensive, the locals probably know somewhere else to go leaving this one for the tourists. The food was very good though and huge fish so I wasn't too upset by the price. Very friendly staff.

An outstanding regular cod and chip with a portion of curry sauce! I'm down in Newquay on holiday and had heard about Flounders. I'm so glad that I did not miss out on their fish n chips. The lady at the counter was friendly and I had my food within minutes. It was absolutely delicious. This is a huge compliment, as I have lived all over the world and would definitely recommend you visit when you are in Newquay! Many thanks☘️

The chips were crisp, fluffy and not at all greasy, I had a "lite box" with 3 cod pieces and chips it also comes with a choice of sauces which are plenty I had spicy curry it was beautiful!! The cod pieces easily equated to a small piece of cod way more than enough for me, it was crisp, fresh, hot and not at all greasy!!! Wonderful I would highly recommend this chippy xx 10/10. The staff were friendly, polite, they and the chippy were clean fresh and attentive. Really nice place.

Delicious food and friendly staff with not too long to wait for food

Thank you so much Flounders for changing our delivery from 5pm to 6.30pm. My Son was stuck at College waiting for the bus (which was late again) and didn't get home until 6pm. Food & service excellent as always.

Used on a Friday evening in Jan 2024. One of the few chippies that was open when we visited. Looked to be popular with the locals which is always a good sign. There are a few small tables inside to eat in and it looked very clean and tidy, but we got a take out. Ordered at the counter, but there is ordering online, phone-in or one of those electronic touch screen points inside with card payment which I’ve never seen in a small chippy before! There were lots of staff working for such a smallish place, but they were kept very busy with delivery orders (again a good sign). We had to wait around 10 mins for our order to be prepared but it was worth the wait. A portion of regular chips came in a large box and there were loads of them. They were excellent. Would recommend.

Seriously good cod and chips!!! The regular cod was enormous, tasty and cooked to perfection and the chips were fab. Delicious, we really enjoyed it👍😋

Consistent quality fish and chips, top notch service

Huge fish. Chose the mild curry with a bread roll. A Bap oop north! Large menu, pies, nuggets etcetera. Very tasty. Highly recommended.

Absolutely lovely, I had the lite bites cod bites and small chips and a cup of tea. The fish and the chips were delicious. The staff were supper friendly as well. Would definitely eat here again.

I really wanted some chips and some fish but as someone who never ate out I wanted to have healthier options. I ordered the steamed cod and chips. It was lovely, the chips were a liiiiittle dry for me but this is really to find something and to be detailed in my review. Apart from that, amazing amazing human beings. Loved the little chat in the end. Very kind people and great service. Very family oriented. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for just being kind and decent human beings, which is what we really need. See you soon! 🙏🏽

Great variety of food available on the menu. Stuck with the classics fish and chips, battered sausage and chips then peas gravy and curry sauce. Food was really nice and very quick service. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We sat in and had a regular fish, chips and peas fritter. Far too much for one person. Only complaint is that chips were hard and chewy. Could be new potatoes 🥔 this time of year. 70p for a pickled onion. Service was good. They had Philip schofield on the wall!!

Fantastic little chippy in Newquay just off the front. Certainly worth the visit. The batter was beautiful. Not sure if a pea fritter is a common thing elsewhere (not seen it round our way up north), but I’d highly recommend one! Gorgeous fish and chips and the lady who served us was lovely and polite when we sat in and couldn’t do enough to help us even though she had other customers. Thank you.

Delicious cod and chips the best we've had in a long time. The cod so tasty no bones at all the batter perfect, not forgetting the chips yummy plus I had the mild curry sauce very nice. Friendly staff clean welcoming and tasty food can't go wrong.

Really good fish and chips! Batter was just how you’d want it - light and crispy. Great chips too. Very friendly staff. Had about a 10 minute wait on a Friday night which isn’t bad considering.

Had takeaway fish & chips here for our last meal in Newquay before heading home the next morning and it was excellent! Have tried other Chippy’s in Newquay and tbh none have been bad but these were exceptional and simply the best.

Wow, came in for takeaway after the pub, really fancied fish and chips. Was getting near to their closing time at I think 9pm. Got to Flounders and there was a que out the door and the tables inside packed. Good sign. Walked in and ordered the fish goujons and large cheesy chips. Was told it would be a little while as they were busy. Literally was expecting a very long wait but actually only took about ten minutes. Got our food and sat outside and ate it. Cod bites were tasty, hot, fresh and really good as were my cheesy chips. Portion size was huge and I ate the lot. I even had to go home and sleep for a few hours I was that full. I'll definitely be back very soon, also prices aren't that expensive I paid something like £8 portions are more than enough, staff friendly and quick service. They even stayed open later to serve everyone. I highly recommend Flounders, thank you.

Just been in and had the best fish and chips. Fish was cooked lovely and the batter was golden and light. Hubby had a burger and was impressed, not the usual mediocre burger you get in chippy. Staff were lovely and helpful. Defiantly a 5 star chippy *****

Unreal Fish & Chips. Price as expected but quality and taste was the best ever. All adults in our party of 8 agreed. Take on the Hoki for a cheaper option which is still as good as the regular options.

Placed a telephone order for a Fish and Chip supper for a small group of friends to eat back at our caravan. The lady (Rosie) who took the call was very polite, helpful, and precise. The food was ready on time, and cooked to perfection, just what you would expect at the Seaside!

Arrived late in the evening and needed something quick to take away and eat at the hotel, so we tried this fish and chips spot. It came out really good. Their fish and chips was delicious. Staffs were friendly. Good service. Recommended.

Fab food, great service. Can't fault. Only niggle is the amount of people waiting but that just goes to show how good the food is.

Staff were dealing with a very large order when we arrived but constantly apologised to the queue. It did take 30 mins but at the point we left (we ate inside) waiting was down to less than 10 mins. Food was extraordinary! Batter so crispy it was wonderful, chips lovely. Haddock cooked skin on, which is the perfect way. Thank you for the laughs at the counter!

The best of the best. Flounders really is a great chippy, Cornwall is full of great, great chip shops. Being Scottish but living in London for years, I only ate fish in Scotland or the West Country. Too disappointing in London and Kent, Sussex and Essex coastal towns. Having moved to Newquay last August we get a lot of guests and always point them to Flounders. I just wish they’d do Scottish style potato fritters but you can’t have it all 🤣 In my last review I said don’t do Rick Steins do Flounders. Then the mother In law insisted on Rick Steins. Half the portion, half the taste and paying for his name. Do flounders.

A decent fish and chips. Portions very big so I'd advise to share it between 2. Prices ok. Gherkins were quite tasty.

Super busy restaurant, walked in at 1930, queue out into the pavement! The staff at the tills were lovely, took the order swiftly, very polite and welcoming. You get a receipt with a order number, when the food is ready they call you, took about 20 minutes for the order to be made ready. The food came fresh, chips were crispy on the outside and soft inside, fish was fresh, crispy outside and flaky inside. Skampi was on point, the star however was the pea fritter, super delicious. Top chippy, the positive reviews are consistent with the shop.

Flounders is the favourite fish and chips of all 3 of us in our company. Everything I've ever personally had from here has been delicious. Amazing gravy, amazing chips, perfect fish. Always friendly, always quick. I really can't fault it.

Terrible, imagine having cod and chips but it being drowned in a large amount of salt made my tongue and lips go sore. Even asked if they had cod as we came and ate quite late and the response we had was “ well we’re a chippy so what do you think “ absolutely disgusting. To top it all off we as a party of 3 had 2 members sick following eating the cod. I’m furious. Went for a refund on the cod and chips and the service toward that refund was awful. A lesson in customer service might be required!!!!

The food here is excellent, the service amazing and the staff were brilliant. We wanted to eat inside but there wasn't a free table. The staff said we could sit outside and they would move us in as soon as a table became available. We were a little reluctant as it was quite cold but decided to go for it. So we ordered and went outside. Within minutes one of the members of staff came out and started to take one of the outside tables inside for us to sit at. We were blown away by this. They could have left us sitting outside but went out of their way to help us. The food was amazing, the chips were hot and crunchy and the fish was fresh and tasty and the batter was delicious. Overall an excellent experience and would highly recommend.

The chips here are amazing, just like chips used to be. Proper seaside chip shop that sells them in cones! Whenever I am in Newquay I make a point to go here.

Cod bites and chips. Absolutely delicious. The boxes keep the fish nice and crispy. Ordered and ate down the gannel in Newquay. Saved some fish for our little fur kids and travelled back to St Austell. The fish was still crispy. Thankyou. DELICIOUS!

We were recommended by the hotel we were staying in that the best place for our fish and chip tea would be Flounders. They were right, quick friendly service. Sensible prices for generous portions and excellent quality for both the fish and chips. Our go to chip shop if we're ever lucky enough to be back in Newquay.

We were staying in Newquay for a week and decided on a whim to try Flounders for a takeaway one evening - and we were so glad we did! The 'regular' pieces of cod were pretty large - beautiful, thick fillets with large flakes, cooked...

Visited first in 2020 during Covid, the food then was delicious and from us coming from up north was as good as the famous magpie were we go in whitby, unfortunately this year the food wasnt as good, the fish was very thin and dry...

We were in Newquay for a boxing event and wanted something to eat at around 6 p.m. we walked through the entire town everywhere was shut due to it being the winter season I'm guessing the only place we found open was Flounders which was busy being the only place open. We thought we'd be in for a long wait but the service was very very efficient staff were great, the menu you was full of options and the food was really good we will definitely eat here again.

Me and my partner popped into this chippy as we was in Newquay doing some shopping, we had calamari a pice of cod a regular chips and onion rings we shared and their was more than enough great value for money! The calamari was cooked...
