Flinders Coffee in Mid Sussex

Such a nice breakfast, bacon cooked to perfection, sausages are super tasty, spot on poached egg, even the mushrooms and tomatoes were just right. Great service and a warm and inviting atmosphere too. I was near the till and while eating my breakfast at least 3 or more customers/pairs decided to have their order in rather than taking it away as originally ordered, so they obviously picked up on the inviting atmosphere too.

We were passing through and saw this place had glowing reviews. We both had a full English. The poached eggs were over cooked the mushrooms raw, sauted potatoes more like Crisps, the bacon was gross and the sausage overcooked. We asked for brown sauce to help the dry food go down a bit easier and were given a teaspoon in a saucer for the both of us. We asked for more brown sauce and that upset the lady cooking but we were give a tablespoon more. To add Insult to injury was the cost of the breakfast. Worst breakfast we've ever had, tho I could not fault the sourdough toast

I like Flinders a lot. I've been many times. It does very good coffee in a calm atmosphere where you can sit alone and work if you want.

I specifically asked for runny yolks when we both ordered the salmon and poached eggs. As soon as mine arrived and one of the yolks was hard I drew this to the 'chef's' attention and despite the glowering look I received, I thought he was preparing me another egg, so only ate half of my meal. After a considerable amount of time and more withering looks from the 'chef' I asked if another egg was coming and literally got no response. After waiting further, my partner asked how it was progressing and I was then told the egg had broken as he took it out and the yolk leaked out. He said he was preparing more eggs but after another long wait we gave up and asked for the bill. We were initially being charged the full price but on asking, they agreed to refund the cost of my half-meal. Such a shame, as what I did have was very nice, the coffee was good and the young lady who served us was very courteous and apologetic.

A really nice position, the food is well above average with a thoughtful and inventive menu. Reasonably priced as well

The Breakfast options are very good and we liked everything we tried. The banana bread toast it's a simple but very good option. The only issue was that the AC was on and it was really cold inside, to the point that was uncomfortable.

Been a regular here since after COVID, delicious food, lovely staff and very relaxed atmosphere! Went here for the first time today and was thoroughly disappointed. Whilst the coffees my wife and I had were decent, the place seemed understaffed and it took ages to get our drinks and food. I've been a few times to Flinders mainly for breakfast which has been excellent. Staff are brilliant and nothing is to much trouble. Be prepared to wait though as everything is freshly prepared. Coffee is excellent too. Perhaps a few too many plants for my liking but overall I really like Flinders. I really adore the hot chocolate here! I don’t know what it is about it but it’s just the best ever, but one small criticism… I saw on the side hot chocolate chips, I asked 3 times if this is the hot chocolate powder they use in the restaurant and the employees at the time reassured me that it was, even though it was labelled “dark chocolate”. Wow I was only back in the UK for a week & found this on my last day! What a find; an amazing Vegan Breakfast! Vegan sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, wilted spinach, beans in a herby tomato sauce & then ... 3 pieces of sourdough toast; 1 with smashed avo & the other 2 with beetroot hummus 💜 I simply couldn't eat it all - absolutely delicious. What I loved so much was not only the awesome tastiness, but everything (maybe not the sausage 😉) was nutritious & well-balanced. Such a shame I only found it on my way back to Gatwick but 'I'll be back!'

Great place. Took my 6 month old son and my mum here and they couldn't have been more helpful although it isn't made clear that it's table service so was left standing at the counter watching the staff in the back for quite sometime until they came and told me that it was and them had to go back and wait at the table to be served however that was the only downside. Other than that the coffee was beautiful and the white choc and raspberry blondie I had was beautiful.

I’ve heard so many things about this little cafe so I thought I’d finally give it a try, very disappointed with the quality of the food and portion size for the price paid, I found staff to be quite rude and abrupt, yes were in a pandemic but the way we were approached whilst sitting down and told to keep our masks on until our food hit the table was rude. Staff didn’t ask if everything was ok or if we needed any condiments.

Worst I’ve ever had thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt and try the Mexican they do here in the evenings wish I hadn’t bothered. I phoned up to place a order as the website wasn’t working to which I was told by man on phone that he knew nothing about how to fix the website or answer any of my questions saying he was only the chef and that his business partner can answer my questions. 1 the chef should still know answers to food related questions 2 if he was a business partner then surely he should know more about the business 3 it wasn’t worth the money we paid it was Mexican street food and yes it was rubbish that u would find on a street in Mexico because it was not nice at all 4 I checked on the council website to see they have no food rating at all or even on the website as a business 5 Avoid at all costs

We thought we would support a local business and I wish we hadn't bothered!My full English breakfast was not good - bullet poached eggs, deep fried sausage, mushrooms and bacon to the point of oblivion and over-microwaved beans. The tomatoes and toast were nice.You can get a high quality brunch in Cote with a juice and hot drink for less without waiting for a ledge to sit on or wait 15 minutes for a coffee so based on what we experienced today sadly don't think we will be back.

This is my go to, local café. Reasonably priced food, made with good quality ingredients. The coffee is lovely quality too. I have also recently ordered a cake which I needed quickly for a guest with food allergies. It not only was delicious and rapidly made, it was also extremely reasonably priced. Thank you Flinders!!!

We enjoyed the eat out to take out halve price deal here for breakfast. Both had the avocado on toast, poached egg and chilli chutney. Drink was fresh orange, ginger and carrot. There is an online menu but I’m not allowed to publish the link due to TA review guidelines apparently. The sourdough toast is a bit tricky to cut through with the wooden disposable knife... you’ll survive so don’t bring your own cutlery :)We’re glad we tried it and enjoyed the meal but would be less excited if full price. You’ll need to order using your mobile upon arrival, we found this easy enough to use.

Kat and the team are wonderful. They've been great since they opened, but have exceeded themselves during coronavirus restrictions. It still feels like such a treat to go - the addition of selling house plants is wonderful and a great way to use the space. By doing so, it doesn't feel like the place has been stripped for covid, just different. The sandwiches, cake, and coffee are all still absolutely brill. Thank you for keeping our town smiling and high on caffeine, flinders team!

Their avo and eggs is honestly the best I've had anywhere! Lovely chilli chutney on the side and everything cooked and seasoned to perfection. Great coffee and great service too. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area. Independent, family run and just a pleasant experience from start to finish.

Expensive. I walked in here recently £5.75 for a bacon sandwich and £6.50 for a sausage sandwich i bought a croissant for £2.75 "ouch" and left. I live in Brighton and you can get a full english in some great cafes for a £1 more.
