Flesh and Buns in Camden

We visited this restaurant early March 2024. We did have a booking for one of their other restaurants - but they were so accommodating and understanding on our mix up. Maria (manager) gave us a warm welcome and provided us with a fantastic service. We were celebrating our engagement from earlier that day. Without any hesitation - we were provided with beautiful frozen Margaritas and two glasses of bubbly on the house. We were delighted to receive such amazing customer service. Pros: - food is fantastic (sushi) - exceptional service - prompt and perfect wait times - friendly and warm welcome Cons: - does not appear to be wheelchair accessible - little dark but creates an intimate environment Massive thank you to all of the team - massive credit to Maria for her service and welcome. You made our day extra special.

9 course brunch was awesome. All the food was incredible especially the chickn.

Good service. Small plates were good but bao bun dishes were poor, crispy chicken was less tasty than KFC. Short rib flavour average as were pickles and condiments. A definite case of style over substance.

We had high hopes as we love this cuisine, but the food felt pretty underwhelming, especially with the prices. There just wasn't enough of it at a good enough quality to justify the cost. We left looking for dessert elsewhere! Staff we incredible though, and the atmosphere is great for couples or groups.

Great place for a pre-theatre meal. Food was good but it was the service that was the real star of the show - both people who looked after us were exceptional.

The staff served us very well. We enjoyed their pleasant disposition. Their laid back, patient and friendly attitude are a welcome relief from many other outlets. The location is obviously is prime.

Had the Winter Tasting menu, excellent selection of food and great value. Absolutely stuffed at the end of it! The food was beautifully presented and really tasty. Service from Maria was excellent. Overall a really lovely evening.

The starter rolls were nice, but the chicken bowl main was really not good. The chicken was sinewy, the poached egg was cold, gelatinous and almost inedible, and the layer of breadcrumbs(?) was overpowering in both texture and flavour. The dessert was OK, but comparable with something you could buy at the store. The table, too, was squeezed between two others, just a bit too close. On the plus side, ambiance and service were both very good.

Love the food here and have dined multiple times, was a little disappointed in the visit this time but am putting it down to lots of new staff and the restaurant being full. Great value for money as a pre show dinner but at busy times not the best for a catch up dinner as it’s very loud.

Buns took too long to come after the food, otherwise great as always

I saw a video on tiktok of the bottomless brunch and immediately booked. It was by far the best brunch I have ever been to and great value for money! So much food and our glasses were never empty. Staff was so helpful, honestly couldn't fault anything. I will be back and recommending Flesh & Buns to all my friends. Thanks again and see you soon! :) Naomi

Don’t usually leave reviews but super super underwhelmed and disappointed by the food. Came because i heard good things and everything was so poor. The fried chicken tasted like they used old oil which left a burned flavour. The aubergine was so sweet it may as well have been a dessert - and I have a sweet tooth! The pork belly was not tender and the skin was pretty tough. I could not believe I have no positive to give on the flavours. The price was outrageous considering you only get two buns. I get it’s London but honestly the biggest waste of money for me in a while. I am happy i came so I will never come back. I understand some people’s palate may enjoy this but I had to mention that I really really disliked this, so far to leave a footprint on my experience. I hope anyone else who decides to come enjoys the food more than we did but it was an awful choice for a birthday meal.

The starters I found to be the best , the corn tempura was amazing , the beef fired chips was also good , the Korean chicken wings you get four but they are big wings …the Sushi starters we were a little on the small side and were just mediocre . The service was good , however the cocktails comes with too much ice in the glass so you get more ice than drink. The mains we got the Lamb shank, 1/2 Spatcock chicken , pork belly . The lamb shank was a Tat burn however was quickly substituted - great service Flesh n Buns …. 1/2 Sparcock chicken was very small however the flavour was good. Pork belly was good but need more flavour , the buns were lovely and soft . Would I go back most definitely yes , however I would stick with the starters for starters and the starters for Mains However overall, I definitely would be back ….definitely

Saida our host was so patient with us and overall great host for our evening. Other staff also always had a smile on their face and willing to help which makes a difference. Lovely food

I saw a staff member walking around picking something out of their teeth with their finger. Chicken boa just had a burst of hot oil with no flavour. The bao buns are clearly brought in and we had four stacked on-top of each other so when they were pulled apart. The plum sauce was watery with not any sweetness or plum flavour to it. The carrot and beetroot shreds that come with the bao’s are far from fresh and I think they are clearly brought in pre shredded as they are coated in some sort of preservative powder, like the shredded veg in a Tesco meal deal wrap. Waiters were not able to explain any of the dishes or drinks and makes it really confusing as there are only really tasting notes on most of the descriptions. Lyicni - tasted just like pure lemon juice and completely different to the one my guests had. From dropping the bill it toke not even a minute for the waitress to come and take the payment, we did not even have a chance to look at the bill. We felt as if we was being pushed along so you can get ready for the next table after spending £200+, having only been there an hour for a table of three. The only good part about the experience was that was a supper friendly food runner.

My partner and I had the taster menu at F&B and we would recommend swerving this and instead picking the following: edamame, the tuna and salmon ceviche (delicious), followed by a bun option each (the duck was excellent, the piglet belly less so). The Smores desert is a great fun idea if you're entertaining but was very messy for a date. We had Lucky Saints and a Pink Grapefruit Cooler (we don't drink) so can't speak for the cocktails but they had good AF options.

Lunch for 7. We had a selection of small plates and starters. Favorites were the beef fat potato chips, brocolli and fried squid.

Amazing food and service. We had the tasting menu and everything was delicious. My wife doesn't eat fish and the waiters were amazing and asked us about what they could swap the fish dishes out for. All the staff were great - very attentive and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend.

The food was tasty but expensive and the service a bit sporadic- nice people but not very attentive

1st time eating this style of food so went for a set menu which enables you to sample courses from each section Friendly welcome and polite and efficient waiters would definitely eat here again but would eat anything off the raw section certainly not for me Give it a try you will not be disappointed

I am absolutely blown away by this restaurant!! It was sensational Great food I loved the sushi platter and the scallop starter. The food was incredible! The ambience was lovely too and the waiters soo nice! I will definitely be coming back

Lovely place to catch up with friends and not worry about being too loud. Food was delicious and great for sharing, would have liked to have 3 buns per person not just 2. Great service and very accommodating when we wanted to change one of our desserts. Great that we did not feel rushed and could just sit and chat for a bit after eating. My second visit and I will be back again, as still a few dishes to taste.

They couldn’t find my booking but got me a table. The food was good wasn’t really a date place as very noisy and with the tables being a little longer had to speak loud to communicate with my guest.

Delicious food! The Korean wings, the short rib bao buns and the pork rice were all so tasty. Service was quick and everyone was polite. The only issue is the tables for two are really close together, so it doesnt feel very private and you're a bit squashed in.

Starting off we were seated and noticed the restaurant was very busy. We ordered starters to share corn tempura, squid and maki set. The rolls were very good same with the corn tempura, however the squid was chewy and dry .Our waiter who we think was also a manager was taking our order and was our server for the night, we didn’t catch his name but he had tied up hair and was a dark skin complexion. He did not bring us our tap water which we asked for twice and both times he said he would and walked off, we had to end up asking another waiter to bring it to us. Our drink orders were wrong. We ordered a shogu martini and ko Hama cocktail but received something completely different which we think was some sort of margarita. that was also on the bill. So he put in the wrong drinks. For our mains we got the fried chicken and pork belly. Chicken was good and the sauce was really good too, the piglet belly was alright however the pieces on the end were slightly loop warm. We had also ordered bun salads for the side and a hot stone rice. However again our waiter did not put this on and the food never came. We asked him if he could please put it on and fast track it, however he did not even apologise to us said he would and gave us an uncaring look and walked off. The food never came again so we just asked for the bill from the female waiter and we left. We understand the restaurant was busy but he was plainly rude and unwelcoming from the beginning. We urge someone speaks to him as it kind of ruined the dinner due to all the mishaps and the communication between our server. I would hope to come another time as I do believe the food is of good quality.

Really nice place, been before at a quieter time so were in a booth. The only gripe this time is that the long table in the centre seems a bit wide, so for a 2 person booking you are leaning and lipreading to speak to each, whilst your neighbouring seats can be heard clearly. Friday night though, so busy/noise expected. Great food and great price, just maybe not ideal for a 'date night' if seated in the runway in the centre. Perfect for a pre theatre in/out with minimal chat.

Was our first time coming here and I have already booked to come back again in 2 weeks! Very good value for money and so filling. I would recommend the Korean chicken wings, the beef dripped potato’s and lamb boa buns

Food was brilliant - every dish was top-notch, and service was great, too. It was just a bit too loud - we were sat on a table of four and I feel I was having to raise my voice to be heard over the club-like music combined with the general chatter of the restaurant. There was plenty of atmosphere in the restaurant; not sure it needed such banging music.

The food was delicious. Super fun spot, great for friends or a date. Get the pink smore for dessert, you won't regret it

My first visit to a Japanese restaurant. The food was amazing as the service excellent. We needed gluten free for one of us and Mary our server could not have been more helpful. Great atmosphere, great food and great service.

We have been going to this restaurant a few times over the last 2 years. We always order the same dishes because we love them so much. When we went yesterday, me and my partner found that the quality of the food had changed - the buns were not as fluffy as they used to, the aubergines were drier and not as tasty, the wine was terrible. So we assume the restaurant has changed food supplier for a cheaper option.. The staff is also very young, which seems to confirm the restaurant is looking at improving their margins at the cost of quality.

I mentioned it was my wife's birthday and the staff took it upon themselves to say happy birthday upon arrival, give us lovely welcome drinks and a dessert on the house. We felt hugely welcomed and really well looked after. The staff were excellent. The food and service alongside was amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Really great experience. Food so tasty. We shared 4 mains between 4 which was lovely to try so many. The sushi for starter and the scallops were brilliant. They even brought out a sparkler on my dessert for my birthday. The smores dessert is cool for trying something different.

Decent food - although the portions are bigger than the menu would suggest (2-3 starters - is crazy, 1-2 more than plenty) Ambience kinda ruined by music too loud - a table of four can’t have a conversation, but on balance I’d go back

Great food, exemplary service, a fun evening. Music was VERY loud which made it challenging for the older members of our party, but they turned it down for us, kindly. Lots of fun, food excellent quality and interesting. Options for kids limited - most things at least a little spicy. Just something to be aware of.

We had a lovely time, enjoyed every moment. Especially the food. Will definitely come back again and bring the family & friends. Great place!

Delicious food, which came to our table very quickly. I would recommend the beef short rib and bao buns as well as the chicken wings. The toilets are a bit tired and don’t seem clean as they are in real need of refurbishment. For this reason I wouldn’t return until it’s had a refurb, I would visit the other branch near Oxford st.

We had a great experience, the food was delicious and I would like to thank Mary for her great customer service skills. The restaurant was busy and I noticed she didn’t stop working and made sure everyone was enjoying themselves.

Small plates were flavoursome. Would highly recommend these. The large plate which was duck was a real disappointment, lacked flavour and was very basic

The “starters” small plates were so delicious but the duck was flavourless and only came with 2 buns. I wouldn’t recommend

Only reason for four stars for ambience was because it’s so popular, it was rather crowded and squashed.  Other than that, really nice food, reasonably priced, and good service with a smile right from the greeting  

Really really good food and amazing value. We had the pre theatre express menu and it was excellent. All the staff very good as well, highly recommend!

The service when they’re busy is non existent. The squid is basically just deep fried bits of flour and over seasoned with so much black pepper I had a coughing fit. I had to call the manager over and send it back. The bao buns were sticky not fluffy and I eat enough bao buns to know what a perfect one looks and feels like. Very disappointing

Delicious food, quick service but music a tad too loud

Tasting menu was lovwly ans loads for just two people. We went before Lion King and it was very theatrical and went well with the theme of the evening. Lucky cat cocktails and smores were fun

Used to go quite a lot to flesh and bun, the pork belly and chicken was super fatty. But what was really offputting is the disrepair to the restaurant over the years. Sticky tables and the toilets are really gross. C’mon PE invest a little!

Very bad food the worst I have eaten in London took the beef hot stone and there simply was no sign of beef (and that was not a mistake, it is "grinded" to the point you can't see it or taste it, covered by too much spicy sauce.

This is probably my fourth visit over a period of several years. They have an interesting menu, but I've always ordered the Shashimi set. It is always good and I've decided to stick with what I've enjoyed in the past. About the only complaint is the flight of stairs leading to the restaurant. I have mobility problems and wish there was a lift. Still, it is one of my favorite places to eat in London and most convenient for a visit to the Donmar Warehouse.

Was ignored and not served for 45 minutes, the waitress spilled soy sauce all over someone’s jacket and barely apologised, untrained and unprofessional staff. The food was very overpriced.

Not great experience. Good wasn’t great, portions were small and overpriced for what it was. Service wasn’t great and I even got soy sauce spilt on me by a server and ruined my white jacket. And then on top of that, it’s too loud in there to even have a conversation with the person next to me. Don’t recommend.
