Usually pretty good. However our latest meal was very disappointing. Tasteless and overpriced would definitely sum the food up. They were very busy, but this is no excuse for poor tasting food.

Best chipper I've had in a very long time. And I reckon it's gonna be hard to find another that would beat it. Taste like how the chipper of my childhood tasted. I was on the way to another chipper and happened upon this place by accident. Lovey staff. Clean establishment. Menu is not too small and not too big.

Never again raw chips and wait 20 minutes, I know its Christmas eve but wasn't even busy. Suppose staff want to get home to cook a decent meal

This establishment has gone downhill since the last time we went there. Lots of staff but nobody actually organising the chaos. One minute the staff were cooking burgers etc, the next they were on the till, then packing orders, though the young girl was just moving the tickets around while the place was packed. Wouldn’t mind waiting a bit if it was worth waiting for. Overcooked nuggets, chips so hard they were difficult to chew due to their hard edges and about a quarter of them had to be discarded as they were so small and hard they were inedible. Felt like they didn’t care. Lots of food like chicken fillets, sausages and fish sitting in cabinet pre cooked but not being used. The owner needs to sort this out. Won’t be back.

We've been going to "the Flash" for years. It's a popular takeaway chip shop in Ballymoney, offering the usual chip shop menu. You can pay by cash or card. We normally go for a chippy tea on a Friday or Saturday evening. It can get very busy at times, though you can order over the phone for collection or delivery. Staff are mostly friendly, though there are a few dour, unfriendly members. Until recently it had always been pretty good with a consistent standard of food. Over the past few months it has become very expensive (like everywhere) but the main problem we've experienced is our order being incorrect. This can range from missing ingredients (eg no cheese in a cheeseburger) to items missing completely, even though we've paid for them. You can understand an occasional error but this has now become more and more commonplace. Unfortunately we live several miles away so it's not realistic to drive back to the shop when we discover the missing items at home.

Through the years the food has usually been consistently good but the past 3 visits in 2021 have been very disappointing. The fish was very greasy, wasn't tasty and lacked much actual fish. The chips were average. Prices seem to be rising at fast pace also which would be easier to take if the quality was as good as it used to be. Hopefully things can get back to previously high standards. A fish supper at the time of the review was £8.10.

The worse chip shop ever have to wait for a couple minutes with they should know. I was waiting in line. One eastern European told me to wait but. I been waiting for an hour until a white gentleman said have you be served . I said no so he served me other people are pushing in the line with. I was in the line. What a ridiculous takeaway shop it's not even a restaurant. It's just terrible. I probably won't go the again ridiculous behaviour.

Wanted out of the house for a couple of hours. Was recommended Flash In A Pan by a work colleague. It didn't disappoint. We travelled about an hour to it, but totally worth it.

Friendly smiling staff , and the quality of their takeaway food is always first class ,I travel several miles for my cod &chips ,this is a family business that has expanded over the past 3 decades, well done Flash in The Pan

I went to this chipper after being recommended it by my friend Lewis nevin, I was expecting a delicious dinner for two! But alas, they completely screwed up my order those punks, inedible garbage!!!! Absolute morons those staff

Very clean friendly staff and the food always fresh and tasty. The fish is very good batter crispy chips great the only thing wrong they give you to much.

I really like the food and the staff in Flash in the Pan. You rarely go past the window but its full which to me is a good sign. They do great lunchtime and student specials and you can’t beat the chicken gravy!

Spending the weekend in Ballymoney and not wanting to cook, we got fish and chips from Flash in the Pan. As it was a large order we ordered by phone. When we arrived the food was ready and thus avoided a long queue. Fish portions were very generous and tasty. The chips were dry, not greasy, and also very tasty. We could certainly recommend this establishment for service and quality.

Situated on a very busy street , parking can be a bit tricky , but well worth the effort , always happy faces behind the counter , and a large takeaway menu , all first class and the staff and owners are always supporting local charities with a range of collection boxes close to the till , it means a lot to me to see this long established award winning family takeaway do so much for charity

This is in my eyes the best fish and chips in Northern Ireland!!! Always fresh and hot out of the fryers.

Got a fish supper out of this establishment, have to say it was the worst i ever had in my life. The chips were uncooked and luke warm, the fish was supposed to be Cod, definitely not Cod, would say it was more like whiting as it was thin and grey, totally inedible. Will definitely never be back.

We were in on the 9th of September, the wee restorant looks good , but tables were dirty , i had to clean myself , it wasnt busy , stuff can put more attention to cleanliness.

My husband and I loved this chip shop. It was my first time here, and was impressed by the large selection of food on the menu. The prices were pretty average, and got a surprise when I got my chicken gojon on chips, as the portion size was massive! This was really welcomed as we had been walking for miles that day round the coast and were so hungry. My husbands fish supper was nicely cooked and a sizeable portion also. I'd definitely come back if I'm up in Ballymoney again, and try something else on that delicious menu.

We ordered chicken burger, 1 piece Cod, chicken fingers, two onion rings and two chips (fries). The portions are large. The cod was an entire filet and cooked just right. Take out only.

Very busy when we arrived on a Sunday evening the service was none the less very organised and efficient. The fish was cooked perfectly and the chips excellent. Take away only but just great.

This has to be the best quality chippy on the north coast. The chips are amazing. I'm pretty sure they are homemade and cut on the premises. We regularly have Battered Fish, Chicken Fillet Burgers, Scotch Eggs, Onion Rings and Chicken Goujons. All great quality.

Went for a last taste of good chippy food before heading back to Canada. Had a lovely cheeseburger and battered sausage (little disappointed they didn't throw in a few chips) , really good food. Hubby had a chic curry and chips and it would have easily fed both of us, good job there was help waiting to eat it. Great friendly staff and fast service.

Was recommended by lots of my friends. I rang in the order, the lady on the phone had no manners (customer service is poor) and when I arrived home with my food it was so salty (especially the curry). Had to throw it away. Disappointed.

Having pre-ordered food for 33 people, we arrived to collect the order. After a few minutes wait while they compiled everything we were served with excellent sausage/burger/chicken goujons and chips with a drink for an excellent price. If I'm in Ballymoney again, I'll definitely call...

Conduciendo a través de ballymoney llamó aquí como mi mujer y mi hija estaban hambrientos y no tenía tiempo para sentarse en cualquier lugar. Esposa dieron un chip solo pero qué gran chip cata de cualquier restaurante. Hamburguesa de queso comida Hija de niños era realmente agradable y excelente relación calidad-precio. Utilizamos para vivir en Ballycastle y siempre íbamos a flash en el pan. Tengo que decir que fue una estupenda relación calidad-precio, pero Branch ballymoney supera y fácilmente un mucho mejor "fish and chips" comparado con el SOBREVALORADO Y MORTONS.

Usual high standard for fast food outlets...staff cheerful and friendly. Consistent and clean. Handy parking nearby.

Having often visited the Flash In The Pan I was happy when I found myself in Ballymoney or as it's known locally 'The Toon' at lunchtime. I ordered a Goujon meal and curry dip. The chips were every bit as good as ever, however the goujons were very disappointing! I am happy to say that this is most likely a one off and give TFITP a second chance but in the meantime I would suggest a Fish or Burger to take with the great chips served at a normally great Chippy.

Great service. Very efficient. Freshly cooked and tasty. Serving was big - in fact for much but I'm a small eater.

We were on our way back to our air bnb after visiting the Giants Causeway and we found this place. The queues were out of the door-this was a good indicator. As I had managed to leave my purse at the b and b, we had only £15 on us so ordered fish and chips and a portion of onion rings. We neednt have worried as total order came to approx £10. It was genuinely hands down the best fish and chips we had ever had, and we like our chips, me especially. They were bloomin divine. We sat in the car and demolished every last bit. We did have to wait for our order but not a problem as it was all freshly cooked. Wished we could go again. Well done Flash in the pan

Travelling to Coleraine from West Lancashire for work seen the shop and stopped because we was hungry. The place did not disappoint. Service was fab food was excellent I am 6ft2 17stone and i was stuffed if ever in the area again will definitely be calling in.

Just excellent, I've been coming here for 20 years now and you never get a bad feed!! Fish supper portions are massive, just the way it should be!! You can't go wrong coming here!! Every time I pass through coming from the North Coast, this chippy is part of the pilgrimage going home!! Staff are very friendly!!

Visited on a Sunday evening and ordered 3x cod suppers for the family. The portions are huge and easily did everyone. Loved that you could pick from 4 types of fish. Fish was amazing best battered cod I have had in a long time. Next time I pass through Ballymoney I will be visiting again.

I went to this take away for fish and chips as a treat and that is exactly what I got the were delishious. Lovely crispy battered fish and chips I could have eaten again and again

The shop smelled nice so was expecting the food to be nice.The chips and gravy was really bad. So bad I couldn't eat any of them. The fish was over cooked and full of grease and no salt on any yet we had asked for salt. Would never try it again.

Best chips in town, some of there stuff isn't the best but for chips there lovely. Wouldn't go to any other chippy in Ballymoney to be honest.

My only complaint on the last visit was that prices have gone up and the fish was greasy. The chips were good. Its a nice clean chippy. Very busy so telephone orders save a wait.

I've only given this place another chance as it's 2 minutes around the corner although that makes no odds to the heat of the food, the temperature in the chippie is more than that.Anyway let's see this time,1. Phoned order through was told 10 minutes, got changed it's a 2 minute walk so I really enjoyed my 40 minute wait as the only customer waiting for a cheeseburger and chip.2. Ordered a 1/2 pound cheeseburger cheese and mayo chip, got home realised had a small burger and onions no cheese, so lovely rip off as they bag it up before you see it and you would trust 4 members of staff.3. Again conversation seems more important than work, last time I gave this place a chance was new year and the topic was Xmas presents. This time it was 4 staff crowding around a phone watching something seemingly funny. This was at my half hour point, so I asked if my order was nearly ready and disgustingly I was even told that yes it would be a minute when they'd watched this. Outrageous.If you like bad service and possibly not what you wanted this is the place for you, this place runs off past reputation and probably the fact it is open very late at weekends but an order at half nine on a Monday disgraceful.I think they are in league with my dog because once again he's had it and I cooked my own, one of the expensive chippies in the town, dogs dinner cost £8.15 Nobody listens to these I expect.

A very good takeaway that is open till late even on Sunday. We had fish and chips which are cooked to order and although appears expensive, one portion is enough for two.

Always a good feed from the Flash however I have to agree with several other comments about the prices. I'm sure a lot has to do with the increasing costs of buying in the produce and this being passed on to the consumer.

We have been a customer of the 'flash' for YEARS. Based at a local large employer we have regularly availed of quality chip shop faire from here. What has changed? We had an order in today for 13 hungry folk - our Friday treat! Chips were barely cooked and lacked flavour and the food in general is not up to the standards of the past. To top it off we were charged £1 each for a handful of raw onions. Apparently this has happened on the last few orders but we didn't realise. What's that all about?! Can't see that working when ordering a burger lol. Very disappointed. Ordering a 'flash' is not what it used to be.....

Although I am not a fan of this type of "food", I have been known to have the odd bit of cod from here. It is usually quite good and the rest of my family really like the food, but there is one big drawback. You need to phone your order in in advance and even then you can still have a wait. Although there are plenty of staff, they all seem to have their own little jobs and nothing is done quickly. The place is always crowded but the food is hardly fast.

This place is small but the servings are huge. One order of fish & chips would easily be enough for two people.Our whole group --- 6 adults and 4 teens -- all ordered fish and chips and no one could finish the whole serving. But we ALL agreed these were not only the best fish & chips in Ireland ... they were the best any of us ever had.

Do not go here... I live 2 streets away and I have given it 3 chances now as I used to go to grammar school with the owners father.1. If you are staying at a Bed and Breakfast, make sure you have access to a microwave as your take away will probably be cold.2.Do not call through an order and think that you can pick it up as they don`t start cooking it until you get into the shop and saying you`re name for they order.3. If you do call an order in to go and pick it up.... check it!!!! Twice now I have had a mucked up order after the cold food, I ordered a simple 1/2 pounder cheese burger with salad and chilli sauce & a portion of chips with cheese and mayonnaise . Upon getting home I then realised that there was no mayonnaise on the chips which I had to put my own on from the fridge and also my burger was only one not the 1/2 pound I paid for but a 1/4, with no salad, cheese or sauce. This cost me £9.50, to cut a long story short if you like cold food, crap staff & find out you haven't got your right dinner when you get home this is the place for you. Me personally I`d like to know who gives it these so called awards.If I was planning a take away, especially during the summer motorbike season I would look somewhere else.

Visited at the weekend for a take away. Long queue that soon went down. One of us had the Fish Supper. I had the chicken kabab. Very good food for what it is and good value.

There are a number of chip shops in Ballymoney but Flash in the Pan exceeds them all. It is always very busy which is a sign that everyone else agrees with me that they are the best. I have never had a bad meal out of here and they do great value for money lunchtime deals.

My family usually get a take away from here once a month. Gorgeous fish suppers and brilliant spicy chicken ranch burgers. We never go anywhere else.

You get all the usual fast food chippy food, but I really love the battered cod, quick service, you place your order, take your ticket & wait for your number to be called, very good system

This is the chip I would advise if you are in the north Antrim area! The food is consistently of a high standard and is always cooked fresh. The meals e.g. Chicken Maryland, are really tasty and good value as they easily can be shared between two.

Had a chicken burger with lettuce and mayonnaise, it was absolutely lovely. Would definitely go back again. Also had battered sausages from here as well which were really nice too.

If you are looking for good food at good prices Flash in the pan is the way to go. A small fish and chips would feed any man portion sizes very large. always busy.

I have lived in Ballymoney for the past 25 years and I have always used the flash in the pan chip shop reason being it is always spotlessly clean the staff are always very pleasant and you get a really good meal I would recommend the flash in the pan chippy to anyone.

A locally staffed takeaway which has won many awards...menu extensive...speciality fish and chips...friendly efficient staff..good service and reasonably priced!

This is by far the best chip shop in Ballymoney. Their chips are the nicest I've tasted and I would pass up home delivery (offered by other chippies) and one closest to where I live, to get my food from here. They don't offer the widest selection of meals on their menu but what they do offer, they have perfected to a tee!

I have just been to Flash in the pan for a fish, I thought that with all their awards displayed all over the walls that their food would be good value.What a disappointment I have never seen two small sorry pieces of fish in my life.Not even a chip in sight. They must be the only chippy in town that does not give you a few chips with your fish. Should try other Chippies in Ballymoney to see what value for money is.

Get takeaway from here regularly and never disappoints.Have ate a variety from the menu and never been let down. Try the lunchtime specials available until 4.30pm for great value.

Flash in the Pan is a very popular award winning chip shop. I wish it had a proper waiting area with seats or proper benches rather than the often cold windowsill but that is a minor consideration. Food is good.

Completely disappointed with Flash in the Pan, it may have been the best chippy around a while back but it has seriously gone downhill. Had Banana Fritters, like chewing leather honestly, batter was chewy and thick, doughy and soggy, very poor, the interior menu boards could do with a serious facelift, dull and uninspiring. Come on Flash in the Pan, strive to get back that reputation you once had, get your act together, look at the competition and learn........... nuff said.

I have had the pleasure over recent months to be introduced to this gem of a Chip Shop in Ballymoney. The staff here are great and are very hard working to deliver professional standards of local service and local food. I am from Derry City myself and I can safely say that there is not one 'Fish & Chip' shop serving food of this standard in the Derry area.To give you an example of the quality of food, the fish is bought in fresh each and every day and seasoned and battered to order. This is the same for the onion rings and many other of the coated items which are on offer. The vegetables and salad items are all freshly prepared on a daily basis and the owners favour REAL grated cheese as opposed to the plastic like processed cheese used by many other establishments.There are also nice differences in the menu, including a Chicken Maryland and Piri Piri chicken which is made using a freshly griddled chicken fillet. Absolutely Fabulous and the staff here deserve recognition for their excellent work!!If you are in Ballymoney or Travelling up around the North Coast, put this place on the map for the journey as you will not be disappointed. I would highly recommend it if you are in the mood for a "chippy tea". I see that others on here are saying that it is more over priced than other local establishments. It is not that different from other local places, and you receive the added value of fresh, locally sourced meals that are cooked from scratch by award winning fryers and cooks.In my eye's I would pay a lot more for this service than what is priced on the menu at 'Flash In The Pan'. This is a chippy. AT times when reading reviews that hard to remember. They do a decent takeaway but i found it more expensive than normal and didnt fee there was any noticeable diffrence in quality. Overall its grand.

Very high reputation with awards on the past. Very popular with locals. It even smells good from outside the shop. Pity there are no seats for eating on or waiting - use the window sill.

The light crispy batter is to die for Hope this doesnt encourage the owner to cut the portions. At peak periods you can wait a while but its worh it. The queues speak for itself but they do take telephone orders. The accolades on the wall are testimant to these premises. The selection is immense and the staff so friendly. The owner can be seen every morning cleaning windows at 6am. Girls you missed out, he got , married just over a year ago. Even your not from Ballymoney its worth the trip. The sister outlet in Bushmills is equally of the same quality. Give it a try if you havent already been there. You wont be suprised coz everyone knows how good it is.

We drive from Magherafelt to Ballymoney every weekend just to get our weekly take away. The chips are excellent, fish is out of this world, burgers are to die for....in fact, everything is excellent!!! Always consistent. Staff are courteous and always speak no matter how busy they are. Often queued out the door the food is so good! Food put out quickly and can honestly say i'v never had a bad meal. Well done Flash in the Pan!!!
