Fjara Cafe Bar in Shetland Islands

Fabulous food, great service, lovely atmosphere and a stunning location. My favourite place to eat in town, it never disappoints!

Wow wow wow. I can not fault Fjarå whatsoever. The first thing that pops into my mind is Eating here whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner is like letting your tastebuds wrap themselves around a really good book and just don’t want the experience to finish. The decor The attention to detail on presentation of the food and drinks. The food itself The staff All wonderful I shall be back time and time again. Thanks folks 🙏🏼10/10.

The location is what it’s all about here, set right on the water with floor to ceiling windows, this casual cafe serves everything from breakfast, coffees, right through to dinner. We first popped in for coffee after a busy day touring about, late afternoon on a Friday and the place was probably half full. We were back for brunch/lunch on Sunday and it was full, with tables turning over pretty well. Having said that, we loitered with our meal & a bottle of wine and there was no sense of being rushed out the door. Very relaxed. Food is good without being great, but it’s a cafe, not fine dining. Plenty of staff, all young and generally pretty good. Give it a try, it won’t disappoint.

A excellent dinner at Fjara. I had the slow cooked lamb and it was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. A delicious combination of ingredients and flavours. Definitely the best land dish I’ve had in a very long time. For dessert, the pineapple upside down cake was lovely and rounded off the meal well. The service was excellent, being both anticipatory and attentive. In short excellent food and service in a very pleasant atmosphere. Recommended if you are looking for somewhere nice to eat in Shetland.

Fjara is reliably great everytime, but today was REALLY great- lunchtime scampi special was spectacular! Huge portion, beautifully cooked- delicious. Plus one of the best flat whites anywhere, lovely staff and amazing views- unbeatable!

Amazing setting right on the water, wonderful views. Food however was very ordinary and a bit disappointing? Shetland steak sub - taste of steak completely overwhelmed by string competing flavours of cheese and caramelised onion chutney.

Amazing food great service and lovely views the menu is changed I would definitely visit again it can get busy so I would suggest that ypu book which is easy to do online

Underwhelming experience. Food was just ok for the price, last time I was there it was very good. I had the lamb which was mostly fat and very little of it, my friend’s dishes were better.

Friendly staff but the hake was dry and overcooked. Lots of asparagus, beans and mange tout, too much, was it to compensate for the overcooked hake. Shame that it’s not possible to source more local produce especially fish in local restaurants

ouf of all the 'top' recommendations to eat in Lerwick, this was the only one that actually delivered! The waiter (tattoos, very cool looking) we had was attentive, there was no waiting around despite a busy restaurant. The carbonara was absolutely delicious.
