Amazing food especially if you like fishy food Had the sole it was amazing and the Mediterranean fish stew as a side Nice and spicy The pub is a lovely place warm and friendly. Dog are welcome mine loved the open fire 🔥 The staff are also very welcoming and loved fussing over the dog 🐕 A great experience all round Some great dog walks near bye also

We want to thank all staff at the Fisherman’s Rest for accommodating us after our match. The pub was lovely inside had a real home feeling. The teas we had were good sized portions of vegetable curries. Would highly recommend this pub and would definitely love to come back on a regular basis.

We sat by the fire and had a welcoming drink before sitting down for a meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was fabulous- the cod special was exceptional. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area. A great find.

Came here as a contingency following a disappointing experience elsewhere. Been here many times before. What a relief. Lovely log fire, lovely food, lovely ale, lovely service. Why didn't we just come here in the first place? Highly recommended.

This pub is a little gem. The landlady runs this pub/restaurant wonderfully, so friendly and attentive. The food is all homemade and rightly so they are very proud of what they serve. Dogs are welcome in the bar which has loads of tables so is more or less the same as the restaurant. It’s a bit out of the centre but definitely worth a visit.

Got slightly lost on the marshes walk so to find this pub was a joy! Very friendly, cute pub, young lad serving was so pleasant. Soup and chips for lunch with a drink was excellent. Def return. Great old pub.

This is an outstanding pub / restaurant. The food is excellent and the service is friendly and efficient. We live locally and go to the Fish about once a month and it's consistently excellent. I have been remiss in not writing a review before. All the food is great, and the local fish is a good option. However, the Steak and Ale Pie is my favourite. It is the best steak pie I've ever had - have it with mash and it's a meal on it's own.

Food was good, standard pub food, service was ok but we felt rushed and staff were having some rather interesting conversations behind us loudly all evening.

Arrived very late (had told them we were delayed) for a booked table but the hosts very kindly kept the table for us even though they were very busy. Served our food quicky and looked after us very well. Food was good pub type...enjoyed the beef and ale pie. Well worth a visit if you're in Lymington.

Sunday lunch at the fisherman’s restaurant absolutely awesome. My friend and I had the mixed roast, and it was all beautifully cooked. Would highly recommend it 👏👏👏

We had an amazing meal today, salt and pepper squid to start, followed by Hake with a crab crum and a Cod loin with a cream and spinach sauce. I can’t fault the food. Lots of staff on hand to look after us, I would certainly recommend this place, be brave don’t go for the standard menu go for the daily fish menu.

We are locals and with local friends and thought a meal here suited the evening. It went okand knew the table time was up at 8.30 pm, we were not at that time yet when we were told in an fairly unpleasant way people were waiting so they want the table. There are ways to remind us time was running out although we knew anyway but this was harsh and demanding and we came out certainly not feeling valued as customers as we all thought staff were a little gruff throughout. A good tourist summer trade I presume so hope they don't need locals during the winter as we will not go there again.

Great food and service we been here a few times and it's always been good

A good pub with a nice atmosphere, we came for a drink one night and likes it so came back to eat the next night. There were 3 real ales to choose and a straight forward menu with a specials card too. The service is nice, efficient with a relaxed feel. The food was good with nice flavour and nice portion size. Price is about average and the decor is very pleasant with a lovely outdoor seating area with a lovely sheltered feeling. We would definitely return when we are in the area again so I would recommend you try it for yourself. Booking is probably recommended

Walked up from town quay ..took just over 20 minutes. Very warm welcome from friendly staff. Food was very good and the pub itself was very cosy with a good ambience. Pleased that we found this place

My wife’s steak pie was very good. My beef burger was rather tasteless and the skinny fries were awful. The young servers were friendly but the senior staff were too business oriented and not welcoming. Also impossible to find an up to date menu online.

Quite disappointed with the experience at the fisherman’s rest. Starter and main meal were good, desert was awful, staff and landlady lacked warmth and charisma. It was like they were tired and really couldn’t care less. Won’t be going back.

Bit hurried, hadn't really finished our starter before mains came out. My main of crab was fine but lacked finesse. Cheese board was very poor- not worth the money.

Great service and delicious food

Great restaurant. Lovely food and staff. The warm pork scratching to start were fabulous, and came with a lovely spicy apple sauce. I had the fish stew for my main which was excellent. My sister had the crab, which she said was lovely. Then we had cheese for dessert, which was great! Good choice of wines. I would go back!!

Was so looking forward to eating here..unfortunately the food was not as expected. The Mediterranean fish stew was a let down. Poor in content and flavour. Nice staff though.

Had Mediterranean fish stew. It was awful, like eating about 3 tiny bits of cod, one tiny mussel, and one one clam that you needed glasses to see. There was no salmon in it as was claimed by staff. Consistency was like water. Basically no taste at all apart from it tasting a little like watered down pilchard juice. The only good thing that I can say about this place was that the staff attended to your table in a timely manner. DISAPPOINTING!

We had an amazing dinner at the Fishermans Rest. The food, wine, service and ambience were all excellent. We chose starters and mains from the specials menu with an emphasis on fish. For mains we had mediterranean fish stew and seabass; both were outstanding. Just what we needed after a day's sailing. Well done to all the team at the Fishermans Rest!

Four of us dined here on a busy Saturday night. We enjoyed Warm Pork Scratchings whilst deciding what to eat. We all shared two portions of Salt and Pepper Squid to start. To follow two of us chose Baked Crab with Chips and Salad, the others had Beef and Ale Pie and Prawn Tagliatelle. All were delicious. The young staff were excellent and friendly. We’ll be back.

Once a month we chose a beer and burger pub and this week we went to the Fish. We were outside in the garden, which was lovely and the burger was good. Service was fast and atmosphere really good. Nice crowd of people. Decent pub.

We had a lovely meal. Such a friendly atmosphere with a land lady who has an amazing pub & works extremely hard to reach very good standards. I definitely recommend this place.

What a fantastic pub!! It feels like a ‘Local’ where everyone is friendly. We were warmly welcomed, a table found even though we hadn’t booked and the service was so good. And then the food - excellent!! Especially the lemon cheesecake! :) Thank you to everyone at The Rest!!

Outstanding food and hospitality

We popped in here off spec following a power outage at our hotel what a wonderful place. Great staff wonderful food. My husband particularly enjoyed the chicken liver parfait. He didn’t even have to ask for a drink - the eagle eyed waiter was right on it and asked if he wanted another. Well done excellent place to eat in Lymington.

We only get here – at most – once a year as we live a very long way away, and it’s consistently excellent. This time we had sole and hake, both of which were cooked to perfection and served by cheerful and knowledgeable staff. If anything, the welcoming atmosphere was even warmer than before. The lemon cheesecake was really tasty and went well with delicious coffee.

A couple of weeks ago we ate twice in this restaurant in one week. If you like fish this is the place to eat.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner here recently. Sat outside and the service was still attentive, we weren't forgotten. Food was delicious across the board. Plenty of choice on the menu. Will be heading back again next time we are in town.

Couldn't fault this pub. We booked for Sunday evening and all had roast, liked it so much we booked again for Monday evening. Food was amazing, service very friendly, would defo return if in the area again ! Superb, thank you

From the moment we walked in to a friendly greeting, we knew we’d chosen the right pub for the evening. Plenty of parking on site, although we walked from our B and B. Staff very friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We sat in the appropriately decorated beer garden. My husband chose the beef and ale pie - homemade - and I had the hake and sea bass fillets. Delicious! We look forward to returning.

Called up and recommended other places locally as they weren’t serving food make sure this lady gets a free drink 🍻

Went for week day lunch. Menu was limited and for a Fuller's pub the choice of beer was also poor. On the upside the Pub's decor and general ambience were good even with few other customers. In the circumstances left the pub before ordering a meal. Not recommended for an out of season lunchtime visit.

A great experience! A warm, cosy pub with an inviting menu including plenty of fish dishes, and vegetarian and vegan options as well. The staff are really welcoming, attentive and were able to make a few tweaks to cope wiith some dietary requirements. The food came out piping hot, cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were just right. Was a little further afield than we would normally go but well worth it. We'll definitely go there again and would thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic meal, l had dressed crab which was delicious. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. You seem to have to book as it's so popular. Will definitely go again.

How they get the freshest fish I just don't know, but all our food was superb. Cooked and served with wonderful sauces, vegetables etc... Very tasty. Staff great and a minor complaint quickly and professionally dealt with. Thanks to team here. Well done.

Very odd. Phoned to book a table was told no childrens tables available for our party of 7 with one child early evening 6.30. Then was offered a table at 7.45 without a kids menu (which we didn’t ask for) then was told 5.30? I said so you don’t have any tables to accommodate 6 plus a child. The answer was no, it took 5 mins of conversation and hold to get to the end all very odd and highly confusing as to why childrens menus were so deal breaking but without a table. Odd all round

The fish of the day was excellent, freshly cooked with crispy chips. The special looked great but wasn't as freshly cooked. The rosti potatoes had been sitting around for sometime. But good service and a satisfying meal.

Lovely staff and garden, really nice fresh food

We asked for pie and mash and chips were brought out. After a conversation the plates were removed but the guy insisted we had asked for chips but I recalled saying we had too many chips this week so wanted a break we were on the verge of being accused of lying. Customer service needs working on. To be fair it was very hot and not an ideal working environment working in the kitchen. The Pimm's was nice. The meat was tender and the pastry flaky just as I like it.

Food was lovely and most staff were helpful. Visiting the area and got a clear feeling that the lady who owned /ran the pub only tolerated locals. She was a little unhelpful and slightly rude.
