Popped in with manager for a quick beer a few weeks ago and went back for a game of pool with my old neighbour, hood atmosphere and friendly staff,can't rate the food because I've not eaten there.

A locals pub that was warm and friendly.

Great spot which has been taken on by a young friendly couple who have improved the place really well for families with and without kids, all welcome and a good play area for the younger kids also the garden pods are a great idea.

Loved this pub when you could book a 3 course dinner with a tribute with a lovely Atmosphere. Luke & Aimee were great & welcoming. May 2023 Lionel Richie tribute was Brilliant. July we saw Red Mick tribute but this time the food was by Banksy & to be perfectly honest it was a Burger @ Chips , BQ Chicken ect... in other words Quick food ( Your Basic.) I waited an hour for it to arrive & was luke warm. I come all the way from bognor for that. Go back to your lovely meal dinners with a Restaurant. I can understand why the fast food is done . ..but it`s not for me, You cannot compare Real food with fast. The Staff are friendly & Welcoming. I have put 5 stars for when we went. But now I would only give it 3 stars for my experience of the food . First visit very clean nice big garden

The bar staff were very rude and the music was so load you could not hear yourself think and disturb the locals. I am very disappointed that they do not have any consideration for locals or even vistors to the pub.

Being a local resident and using this as my local pub for 20 years I can honestly say I will never drink in the Joy again, which is a shame. Very rude bar manager, very slow service. Very poor customer service, no interpersonal skills and not very welcoming. Shocking in fact. This pub has always been family orientated, but with the recent change of management I won't return until they leave.

Rude pub not open at 11am manager very rude put the phone down on me don't use this pub had to go elsewhere I'm a disabled person it's was a disgrace as I said manager very rude

Absolutely gutted, went to order some food only to be offered greasy burgers, had no choice but to try and stomach it as I was starving at this point, bun was stale, burger undercooked and freezing cold and also had a couple of hairs in the burger, all I can say is that I will not be returning after being a loyal customer for many years Overpriced food poisoning Disgusted and gutted at the same time

Booked for 8 people on Saturday 13th May at 4 pm . We arrived only to be told there was no booking and the kitchen was closing. After some discussion we were told we could have some food but we decided to go up the road the Crown which was very good indeed.

Had a wonderful evening at The Joy on Saturday. The entertainment was brilliant, Jason Lee, and the Indian meal was absolutely excellent. Such good value too. The staff were lovely, helpful and welcoming despite being rushed off their feet. Could not have been better. Will certainly be back as soon as possible.

Love this pub.....Lucan, Aimee and all the staff are so welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. I had 35 friends join me for my birthday celebrations on a dine and entertainment night. Food was lovely, entertainment was good and a great night all round.

Just had a wonderful lunch! The staff were brilliant in accommodating our large group of 14 people and 2 dogs. The food was delicious and plentiful. A great, friendly pub.

We visited here for Sunday lunch after an awful experience at a local holiday park (Seal Bay). The staff were so lovely and friendly. Food was amazing and they went over and beyond to make sure the whole family enjoyed their lunch. A must visit if you’re in the Selsey area! P.S. we finished the food before we had a chance to take a photo it was so good!

Truly one of the best pubs in selsey! After a horrible experience during our stay at the cove park, we came here for a lunch to find some decent food and a good atmosphere. The staff were refreshingly friendly, accommodating and even were kind enough to squeeze us in for a last minute lunch despite being fully booked for the afternoon. The food was fresh and delicious and even with one of our children being a fussy eater, they accommodated our needs to find something he could eat. A fantastic family pub with so much to offer, it is so rare these days to find staff that make the effort to go above and beyond and at the fisherman’s joy we found exactly that. If you are staying at seal bay I would recommend giving them a visit if you want quality food for a fantastic price. Thank you for giving us the great end to our holiday that we so desperately needed. We will be returning! P.s - the food was so delicious we didn’t have enough time to take photos before devouring!

A very nice welcome and the food was great

We booked for Valentine’s meal great service. The staff where very accommodating and adapted the set menu where possible to suit our needs. Food was well presented and taste amazing, well worth the money. the atmosphere and decorations set a romantic atmosphere. Then there was live music to finish the night. The vocalist was really good and accommodated requests. Had a brilliant valentines and I would definitely recommend this venue.

First time trying the carvery, and it was great! Really busy afternoon by the looks of things, which meant a bit confusing when ordering lunches, then having to move elsewhere to order drinks, although was made up by the friendliness of the team. A super variety of meats, and a very nice selection of veg. Would have preferred to have served ourselves the veg and gravy. Parsnips a little chewy and soft - probably just a personal thing. GREAT value for the price - we'll be back.

Well.after a break since Christmas we decided to have an impromptu meal here. The quality and quality of the food was so good for the money Chicken and Ham Pie mash and Peas. And Mediterranean Tart woth New Potatoes and Salad. Beat us even though we were hungry. It is a hidden gem

Based on the free live bank holiday music, this is a well sorted watering hole. Free extensive parking on site means you can literally park and ride. The pub really welcomes people advanced in years and the service at the bar is good. The outdoor hog roast vendor was great value at £6.50 a piece and 0% alcohol drinks are available for responsible drivers. Thank you for the music!

Visited here during the summer holidays. All staff where very helpful and friendly. Amazing live entertainment and food. Lovely atmosphere and nothing was too much. Friendly locals. Definitely will be visiting again when in the area.

Stopped in on the off chance really happy vibe, everyone was happy and easy going definitely head back for a few more beers and food when I’m next in the area.

Decided to venture over and see how well the Fisherman's Joy fayre faired. We were all exceptionally impressed with the friendly service we received when ordering and having the food bought to the table. The food, I have to say was way above expectations and for the price real value for money too. We ordered a cheeseburger for one of the children (it's double stacked) rack of ribs for another child (no ribs left after but perhaps a few too many chips on the dish than neccessry). Adults order a ploughman's and "Wings more Wings" to share, they where large platters and you could get away with one dish between two people. Overall I feel the quality, value and venue all are wonderful. Just watch out for the local agro seagull who's keen to pinch your food, especially if you sit on the picnic tables (the booths are safe though)

Had a great evening last night with a singer and then pub DJ. Great atmosphere, looks recently refurbished. Will definitely be back when we are down this way again. Although got charged £8.90 for my first round then £7.75 for the next 2.....

Had a wedding party there last night. Everything was taken care of .Good food, good choice of drinks, music and brilliant hosts.Would highly recommend for your family gathering as lovely garden for the kids to play in with seating pods to sit in. Nothing was a problem for Luke and Aimee

Popped in for a spot of food at just gone 2pm on a Sunday and was delighted to be told the carvery was available! Staff were super friendly and there was tons of space in the dining area. Food was excellent and generously portioned and superb value for money, our new Carvery choice in Selsey for sure!

Called ahead and reassured all we had to do was turn up. Arrived and were served quickly, simple pub menu in the bar, superbly cooked and tasted delicious! Chocolate Brownie dessert best in Selsey and the chocolate and banana waffle just fantastic!! Highly recommend.
